Former Ozzy Osbourne guitarist shot multiple times

Jake E. Lee — a former guitar player for rock legend Ozzy Osbourne — was shot multiple times in a Las Vegas neighborhood early Tuesday morning, the Associated Press reported.

Las Vegas police said Lee was shot around 2:40 a.m. in a neighborhood about 10 miles south of the Strip and was taken to a hospital, the AP said.

'By the grace of God, no major organs were hit, he’s fully responsive, and expected to make a full recovery.'

A representative for Lee confirmed the shooting in a statement, the outlet said, adding that the statement indicated Lee was conscious and “is expected to fully recover.”

The AP added that the representative, Amanda Cagan, said the shooting occurred as the 67-year-old rocker was walking his dog.

“As the incident is under police investigation, no further comments will be forthcoming," the rep's statement read. "Lee and his family appreciate respecting their privacy at this time."

Tim Heyne, manager of Lee’s rock band Red Dragon Cartel, told the AP that "by the grace of God, no major organs were hit, he’s fully responsive, and expected to make a full recovery."

No arrests have been made, and police said its investigation into the shooting was ongoing, the outlet noted.

The AP reported that Lee — who was born in Norfolk, Virginia, and raised in San Diego — played guitar in several bands amid the glam metal scene orbiting the Sunset Strip in Los Angeles in the 1980s, including an early version of Ratt.

Lee joined Ozzy Osbourne’s band in 1982 and stayed on until 1987, playing on albums including 1983’s “Bark at the Moon," the outlet said. Lee later played in the metal band Badlands and released a pair of solo albums, the AP said.

Osbourne on Tuesday night issued the following statement on X: "It’s been 37 years since I’ve seen Jake E. Lee, but that still doesn’t take away from the shock of hearing what happened to him today. It’s just another senseless act of gun violence. I just hope he’ll be OK."

Anything else?

In 2022, Osbourne — the original vocalist for hard rock pioneers Black Sabbath — criticized the United States and said he was moving back to England after more than two decades living in Los Angeles. His reason reflected the sentiments Osbourne expressed after Lee's shooting.

"Everything’s f***ing ridiculous there," Osbourne said at the time. "I’m fed up with people getting killed every day. God knows how many people have been shot in school shootings. And there was that mass shooting in Vegas at that concert. ... It’s f***ing crazy."

Osbourne's wife, Sharon Osbourne, said in July that Ozzy's health issues — including numerous surgeries and a Parkinson's diagnosis — have stalled relocation plans.

Third assassination attempt? Cops arrest man allegedly carrying 2 loaded guns, fake press pass near Trump's Calif. rally

Local law enforcement in Riverside County, California, believe they may have thwarted a third assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump on Saturday after deputies arrested a man who was reportedly armed and carrying multiple fake passes near Trump's campaign rally in Coachella.

To secure the rally in Coachella, officers established a double perimeter for the area within a half-mile radius of the event. Those who lived in the area had to pass through checkpoints before they could return home. Officers ensured these residents did not venture toward the rally, the Los Angeles Daily News reported.

'It’s not going to happen in Riverside County. We don’t have the same sicko issues and violent protests like they have in Los Angeles. We’re better than that.'

At around 5 p.m., officers arrested Vem Miller at the checkpoint at the intersection of Avenue 52 and Celebration Drive within that secured double perimeter.

According to reports, Miller — a 49-year-old Las Vegas man described as a right-leaning, anti-government extremist — pulled up in a black SUV. In his possession were a loaded shotgun and handgun as well as a high-capacity magazine, cops said.

Miller also reportedly had several phony rally passes, including a fake press pass and VIP passes. "They were different enough to cause the deputies alarm," Sheriff Chad Bianco said of the passes on Sunday.

"We probably stopped another assassination attempt," he added, according to the L.A. Daily News.

"I thought, 'It’s not going to happen in Riverside County. We don’t have the same sicko issues and violent protests like they have in Los Angeles. We’re better than that.' Go figure."

Miller was hauled off to the John J. Benoit Detention Center on suspicion of possession of a loaded firearm and possession of a high-capacity magazine. He was released on Sunday after posting $5,000 bail, KTLA reported.

He isn't scheduled to appear again in court regarding this alleged offense until January 2, 2025.

Miller, who lost the 2022 Republican primary race to represent the 13th District in the Nevada state Assembly, is reportedly a registered Republican. He also reportedly earned a master's degree from UCLA.

Another man near the Coachella rally was also questioned by the FBI after bomb-sniffing dogs allegedly "repeatedly" identified him as possibly dangerous, Sheriff Bianco said, according to the L.A. Daily News. The man was not permitted to enter the rally, the sheriff added, though whether the man was ever arrested or detained is unclear.

Despite these possible threats, the Trump campaign is apparently attempting to downplay the severity of the danger in Coachella. Bill Melugin of Fox News tweeted on Sunday afternoon: "Sources close to the Trump campaign tell @FoxNews there was no assassination attempt against Trump at his Coachella, CA rally yesterday. We’re told a man with a gun was arrested at the perimeter of the event without incident."

Some on social media are likewise skeptical.

The Secret Service issued a statement on Sunday: "The incident did not impact protective operations. The Secret Service extends its gratitude to the deputies and local partners who assisted in safeguarding last night’s events."

This is a developing story. Be sure to check back with Blaze News for updates.

Homeowner fatally shoots window-breaking male trying to get inside: ‘We never have anything ever happen in this neighborhood'

After a Las Vegas homeowner fatally shot a male who was breaking windows and trying to gain entry into the homeowner's residence Thursday morning, at least one neighbor reacted with concern, KLAS-TV reported.

“I was shocked,” Jennifer Sauberan told the station. “Because it’s a very quiet neighborhood.”

'I have cameras around my house now.'

“I was just thinking, 'Oh, my God, what if I hadn’t come back the night before?'” Sauberan wondered to KLAS. “It could have been my house.”

Sauberan told the station she's lived in her neighborhood near Torrey Pines Drive and Flamingo Drive for decades with no worries — until now.

“It was so unexpected,” she told KLASf the fatal shooting. ‘We never have anything ever happen in this neighborhood, ever.”

What happened?

Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Homicide Lieut. Jason Johansson said the homeowner called 911 around 7:40 a.m. saying a strange male was breaking windows and trying to get inside the homeowner's residence, the station noted.

“The man was not listening to what they were telling him,” Johansson added to KLAS. “He was acting extremely irrational as they continued to tell him to leave the property.”

Johansson noted to the station that’s when the male moved toward the front door — and with that, the homeowner pulled the trigger.

Officers found the shot male in the driveway, KLAS said, adding that he later died at a hospital.

Johansson told the station there are "self-defense" elements in this case, and he doesn't believe the homeowner will face charges. The Clark County District Attorney will make a final determination, KLAS reported.

Anyone with any information is encouraged to contact the LVMPD Homicide Section by phone at 702-828-3521 or by email at homicide@lvmpd.com, the station said, adding that to remain anonymous, contact Crime Stoppers at 702-385-5555 or online.

Meanwhile, Sauberan told KLAS she's doing her best to maintain a safe home: “I have cameras around my house now. I put them up more recently, but then I put in flood lights and stuff because [criminal activity] makes me a little bit nervous sometimes.”

Republican candidate violently attacked while putting up campaign signs in Las Vegas in broad daylight: Report

A man running for state office in Nevada was reportedly violently attacked in broad daylight while putting up campaign signs about a week and a half ago.

Around 4 p.m. on August 29, Stanley Vaughan braved the Las Vegas heat and walked about and put up campaign signs for himself and other candidates near the intersection of Pecos Road and Twain Avenue, about five miles east of the Las Vegas Strip.

Vaughan believes that the suspect is homeless, reporting that he had a disheveled appearance and that he likely hadn't bathed in days.

Vaughan then turned to affix a sign to a chain-link fence when suddenly a man wielding a knife approached him and demanded his wallet, he claimed.

"I‘m so focused on getting the cable ties through and getting them through the fence, I wasn’t paying attention to pedestrians and stuff coming through here," Vaughan recalled to KVVU. "I had my back turned. I turned around, [and he] caught me by surprise."

Vaughan — an Army veteran, martial arts enthusiast, and the security and police liaison for his homeowners' association — said he responded "instinctively" by kicking the would-be mugger. At that point, the suspect "ran away," Vaughan said.

Unfortunately, that was not the end of the matter. It turns out that the suspect managed to slice him in the forearm with the knife.

"I jumped into the car, and then I realized I was bleeding," Vaughan said.

Vaughan then drove home, where his wife, a nurse, attended to his injury. His forearm was still wrapped in bandages when he spoke with KVVU.

Vaughan believes that the suspect is homeless, reporting that he had a disheveled appearance and that he likely hadn't bathed in days. Vaughan told KVVU he will no longer be going out by himself to put campaign signs up.

Police are treating the attack as an isolated incident.

Detectives have also apparently identified a suspect, as KVVU reported that they "have not tied the perpetrator to any crimes in the area." So far, no names have been released.

Vaughan, 67, is running as a Republican for the Nevada Assembly seat for District 20. His opponent, incumbent state Assemblyman David Orentlicher (D), condemned the attack.

"I am very concerned and saddened to hear about the attack on Mr. Vaughan, and I wish him a speedy recovery. We all should be able to feel safe in our communities, and I am committed to continuing our work to reduce crime across Nevada. I hope the perpetrators are held accountable for their actions," Orentlicher said in a statement to KVVU.

Orentlicher — a Democrat, a UNLV law professor, a medical doctor, and a self-described expert "in medical ethics" — previously received the Distinguished Legislative Service Award from Planned Parenthood for "his 'strong and tenacious support' of the Planned Parenthood mission," his website says.

Can This Grassroot Group’s Ballot-Chasing Efforts Help Turn Nevada Red This November?

The Sun City Summerlin Conservatives Club is seeking to give Democrats' ballot-chasing operation a run for its money this November.

Democrat charged in savage killing of journalist claims he's being framed despite damning evidence to the contrary

Former Clark County Public Administrator Robert Telles, 47, addressed the jury this week for the first time in the trial over his alleged 2022 murder of Las Vegas Review-Journal reporter Jeff German. Telles complained Wednesday about his imprisonment in the lead-up to the trial and stated, "I want to say, unequivocally, I am innocent, I didn't kill Mr. German."

On Thursday, the disgraced Democrat suggested he'd been framed for killing the very reporter whose investigative writing was tanking his political career, the Review-Journal reported.

German wrote about inappropriate relations, hostilities, and 'turmoil' inside Telles' county office, citing 'allegations of emotional stress, bullying, and favoritism leading to secret videotaping of the boss and a co-worker outside the office.'

"Somebody framed me for this, and I believe it's Compass Realty," he said.

According to Telles, homes belonging to the recently deceased in Clark County were being flipped for profit, and the families of the deceased were being cut out of the proceeds. The Democrat suggested he was "fighting" Compass Realty and Management over the sales.

The company told the Review-Journal in a statement, "Mr. Telles is a desperate man who has been charged with violently murdering a beloved local journalist. It appears he will do and say anything to escape answering for this charge."

It may be an uphill battle for Telles in court, as his defense likely will need to provide the jury with convincing explanations for why:

  • As reported by the Associated Press, Telles' DNA apparently was found beneath the victim's fingernails;
  • Police found hundreds of photos of the victim's home — along with German's identity records — on Telles' computer and cellphone, some of which were collected only weeks ahead of the slaying;
  • In their search of Telles' house, police found bloody scissors, a cut-up straw hat resembling one the suspect wore, and a pair of cut-up tennis shoes which tested positive for blood;
  • An SUV matching the description of one registered to Telles' wife was seen driving in German's neighborhood around the time of slaying;
  • His phone sent no signals on the day of the killing and why, as KTNV-TV noted, the previous month there was no location data.

What's the background?

German, 69, was stabbed to death outside his home on Sept. 2., 2022. His body, which had seven stab wounds, was discovered the following day.

Police subsequently released video and images of the suspect carrying a bag and wearing a reflective orange shirt and a broad-brimmed hat as well as images of the suspect's alleged vehicle, a maroon GMC Yukon Denali.

Former LVMPD Sheriff Joe Lombardo indicated someone had been seen driving the vehicle "suspiciously" around the neighborhood and confirmed the suspect had used it to leave the area. The vehicle depicted was a maroon GMC Yukon Denali.

Assistant Sheriff Dori Koren later noted that the vehicle was registered to Telles' wife.

On Sept. 7, police executed a search warrant at the Telles' home and towed two vehicles, one of which was the Denali.

After police completed their search, Telles returned home dressed in what was appeared to be a white hazmat suit. When police attempted to speak to him, Telles refused to open the door, prompting the dispatch of a LVPD SWAT team.

The tactical team ultimately made the arrest and carted Telles away on a stretcher following an apparent suicide attempt.

Las Vegas Review-Journal executive editor Glenn Cook said "we are relieved Telles is in custody and outraged that a colleague appears to have been killed for reporting on an elected official."

Following his arrest, Telles was stripped of his administrator position by court order. In that position, Telles handled the funds of people who died without a will, some of which he is alleged to have mishandled or misappropriated.

Telles — a gun control advocate and an avid supporter of far-left U.S. Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) — is said to have lost his primary election in June 2022 to fellow Democrat Rita Reid partly because of German's investigative reporting. Reid previously served as the top supervisor under Telles.

German wrote about inappropriate relations, hostilities, and "turmoil" inside Telles' county office, citing "allegations of emotional stress, bullying, and favoritism leading to secret videotaping of the boss and a co-worker outside the office."

Telles — who was arrested for domestic violence and resisting arrest on March 1, 2020 — blasted German on social media, writing, "You'd think he'd have better things to do."

According to CNN, Telles also responded to German's articles on his campaign site as well as in a letter.
