Italian Americans for Harris: An Offer You Can Refuse

Identity-based Zoom fundraisers are all the rage among Harris-Walz supporters, so Sunday night's "Sunday Sauce Kickoff," organized by Paisans for Kamala, was as inevitable as a tomato sauce stain on a white dress shirt. The event was touted as a virtual old-style Italian family dinner and Alyssa Milano from Who's the Boss was supposed to be there, so I RSVPed right after Mass.

'Must be a nice feeling': Gina Carano calls out Hollywood's double standard after Mark Ruffalo compares USA to Nazi Germany

Actress Gina Carano called out Hollywood elites for an apparent hypocrisy regarding freedom of speech.

Carano, who was famously fired from Disney for allegedly not adhering to the company's values, pointed out that a person's political alignment determines whether she will be punished by Hollywood studios for her speech.

The former mixed martial arts fighter was starring in Disney's "The Mandalorian" and was let go from the Lucasfilm studio after she shared opinions going against government policies on topics such as vaccine mandates and masking.

"Gina Carano is not currently employed by Lucasfilm, and there are no plans for her to be in the future," a statement from Lucasfilm said at the time. She has since sued the company.

'It must be a nice feeling to express yourself so freely. Not everyone in this country has that privilege.'

The day before Independence Day, Carano responded to actor Mark Ruffalo, who shared an factoid about Germany in 1933 with a photo of the Nazi Party.

"March 1933[:] The Enabling Act becomes law in Germany, giving the chief executive power enforce his own laws without checks and balances. The passing of the Act marked the formal transition from democratic republic to totalitarian dictatorship. 6 months later, it was a 1 party state," the post read.

Ruffalo, resharing it, remarked "… Just for the record. History is repeating itself."

This spawned a lengthy response from Carano about the double standard she was seeing.

"Double standards on full display. It's a constant and obvious elephant in the room in Hollywood," she wrote on X. "There is example after example, such as Mark Ruffalos below that prove this. Whom btw, I believe should have the right to express himself without getting fired."

The actress said that she cringes at most of Ruffalo's political posts but added he is a "human" who is "passionately engaging in something that he feels strongly about" and therefore should be allowed share his opinions.

"It must be a nice feeling to express yourself so freely. Not everyone in this country has that privilege without having everything that they love taken from them," Carano remarked.

The 42-year-old went on to claim that Disney and Lucasfilm "maliciously twisted the narrative" of a meme she posted, which she said was encouraging her neighbors not to demonize each other or else history would indeed repeat itself.

"Do we wonder why he has that privilege and I did not?" she wrote of Ruffalo.

"It was suggested that I was comparing Republicans to the Jewish people in the holocaust, something that I never said or posted. I called no one a Nazi, I did not deny the holocaust," Carano stated.

Among her allegedly offensive statements that led to Disney dropping her in early 2021 were statements about not putting pronouns in her X, then Twitter, biography.

"They’re mad cuz I won’t put pronouns in my bio to show my support for trans lives. After months of harassing me in every way. I decided to put 3 VERY controversial words in my bio.. beep/bop/boop," she wrote in September 2020.

— (@)

Carano also apparently shook the hornets' nest during the November 2020 election.

"We need to clean up the election process so we are not left feeling the way we do today. Put laws in place that protect us against voter fraud," she said.

"Investigate every state. Film the counting. Flush out the fake votes. Require ID. Make Voter Fraud end in 2020. Fix the system."

— (@)

The former MMA star finished her latest statements by saying that she hoped her lawsuit against Disney/Lucasfilm "brings balance back to a very broken industry."

The theme of bringing balance is very reminiscent of the Star Wars story, but it was unclear whether the metaphor was intentional.

"Let's restore the balance. ... Conversation over cancellation, like I've said from the beginning."

'So much disinformation': Mark Ruffalo blames Elon Musk after actor shares fake images of Trump on Epstein plane

Actor Mark Ruffalo issued an apology to his followers after he shared artificial intelligence-generated photos of former President Donald Trump.

Ruffalo shared a post on the X platform purporting to show two separate photos of Trump flying with several young women to Jeffrey Epstein's infamous island.

"Trump headed to Epstein Island. 2 different flights, 2 different groups of little girls. Not his daughters. Not his nieces. Not something Republicans even care about. He can rape, steal, try to overthrow the gov't, this is their American dream," a user claimed when posting the photos.

Ruffalo, appearing to do no due diligence, shared the images at face value.

"Gross. #MAGA wants to paint everyone on those flights as pedophiles except the one guy who smiles in a group of young girls all headed to Epstein’s “Fantasy Island” with him. My bet is there are some decent republicans left in America that may think this is going too far."

The images were soon hit with an X community note that labeled the images "AI-generated."

Ruffalo issued an apology to followers the next day but deflected the responsibility to X owner Elon Musk. Ruffalo blamed the entrepreneur for "misinformation" on his website despite the label being applied to the post.

"Sorry Folks. Apparently these images are AI fakes. The fact Trump was on Epstein’s plane and what Epstein was up to is not. Be careful. Elon’s X and his allowing so much disinformation here is driving the value of his app down by 55%," Ruffalo wrote, before linking to an article.

The actor recently celebrated a Golden Globe award for the movie "Poor Things," a film distributed by Disney's Searchlight studio that celebrated debauchery and "whoring" as a form of female empowerment.

The film focused on the male characters' inability to control a female Frankenstein as intended. Instead, what was supposed to be an easily manipulated woman develops into what the Hollywood Reporter described as "a fiercely spirited, independent woman."

The film was awarded "Best Motion Picture — Musical or Comedy" at the Golden Globes, despite its poor performance at the box office. The production had a budget of $35 million but took in just $15 million worldwide.

Amid Israel-Hamas war, celebrities urge Biden to call for a ceasefire

Amid the Israel-Hamas war, the website artists4ceasefire.org features a message pressing President Joe Biden to advocate for a ceasefire. The list of names below the message includes America Ferrera, Alyssa Milano, Andrew Garfield, Channing Tatum, Dua Lipa, Macklemore, Mark Ruffalo, Michael Moore, Quinta Brunson, Wanda Sykes, Jon Stewart, and various other people.

"We come together as artists and advocates, but most importantly as human beings witnessing the devastating loss of lives and unfolding horrors in Israel and Palestine," the message states. "We ask that, as President of the United States, you call for an immediate de-escalation and ceasefire in Gaza and Israel before another life is lost."

"We urge your administration, and all world leaders, to honor all of the lives in the Holy Land and call for and facilitate a ceasefire without delay – an end to the bombing of Gaza, and the safe release of hostages. Half of Gaza’s two million residents are children, and more than two thirds are refugees and their descendants being forced to flee their homes. Humanitarian aid must be allowed to reach them," the message declares.

— (@)

Some leftist lawmakers have been advocating for Biden to push for a ceasefire.

After Hamas terrorists perpetrated heinous atrocities earlier this month, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declared that the Jewish state would "obliterate Hamas."

Israel has been carrying out airstrikes, and terrorists have been targeting Israel with rocket attacks.

"In the last 24 hours, a fifth of the rockets that terrorist organizations have launched, have fallen inside Gaza," the English text on an Israel Defense Forces video reads as a man speaks in Hebrew. "A fifth of the rockets — more than 550 rockets — were misfired by Hamas and Islamic Jihad, which kill innocent civillians in Gaza. They are killing their own civillians from failed launches." The IDF made the post on X on October 21.

'Reacher' actor loses role over vaccination status, says Hollywood cancels conservatives but seeks out liberals like Ron Perlman

"Reacher" actor Matthew Marsden believes Hollywood penalizes actors who have conservative politics, but rewards performers who are liberals. Marsden also revealed that he lost a job because he is not vaccinated against COVID-19.

Marsden alleged that conservative actors get canceled by Hollywood.

"Conservatives in Hollywood speak up against tyranny, and we get canceled," Marsden tweeted on Saturday. "The phone stops ringing. That’s all they have to do."

Marsden said liberal actors such as Mark Ruffalo, Ron Pearlman, and Sean Penn benefit by broadcasting their political beliefs.

Marsden wrote, "Ruffalo, Pearlman, and Penn say all kinds of stuff and nothing happens to them. In fact, they will be sought out because of their 'brave stances.'"

Perlman has been extremely vocal about his disdain for conservatives. Perlman launched an expletive-laden rant against Ron DeSantis in March, besmirching the Republican Florida governor as a "Nazi pig" and a piece of s**t." In 2020, Perlman called Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) a "b*tch" and challenged Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) to a wrestling match. The "Hellboy" actor previously proclaimed that blue states should "separate" from red states.

Marsden then stated, "The fact is that conservatives that speak out are not supported by their 'team.' You get canceled it’s on you."

He claimed that leftist Hollywood players all band together to help each other financially, morally, and with public relations.

Marsden declared, "This is why more don’t speak out. We abandon our own. It has to change."

“The fact is that conservatives that speak out are not supported by their “ team”. You get cancelled, it’s on you. You get attacked on the left, and your team rushes to help you. Financially. Morally. With PR. This is why more don’t speak out. We abandon our own. It has to change.”
— Matthew Marsden (@Matthew Marsden) 1670683093

Marsden – who was born in England and is an American citizen – said he lost a job because of a COVID-19 vaccine mandate. The actor noted that he is "aware of the risks involved" with not being vaccinated against COVID-19, but is firmly against COVID-19 vaccine mandates.

He added, "I lost a job last week because I am unvaccinated and I will not lie about it."

Marsden did not reveal what project he lost because of his vaccination status.

Marsden continued, "If more people stood up in Hollywood, or any other profession and said 'no' then these vaccine mandates would have gone away."

"It is the same on Twitter. The trolls know they can push you around. It is never going to end," he tweeted on Thursday. "No one forces you to post politically. Your choice."

Marsden noted that differing political opinions are not a disqualifying factor in a friendship.

He quoted Thomas Jefferson, "I never considered a difference of opinion in politics, in religion, in philosophy, as cause for withdrawing from a friend."

Marsden's Hollywood credits include "Tenet," "Atlas Shrugged," and "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen."

Mark Ruffalo says Twitter 'should be heavily regulated for misinformation,' suggests government intervention if Elon Musk does not police the platform

Actor Mark Ruffalo, an outspoken leftist, has asserted Twitter should be heavily policed for "misinformation" and spam from "hostile interests," adding that if Elon Musk fails to carry this out, Twitter should be viewed "as a public utility under governmental supervision."

"As a worldwide 'public square,' this app should be heavily regulated for misinformation & spamming by hostile interests. If Elon can’t do that with his 'company,' it should be seen as a public utility under governmental supervision. This system unregulated will be more deadly," Ruffalo tweeted.

Jim Geraghty of the National Review responded to the actor's comments by tweeting, "HULK FAR TOO TRUSTING OF GOVERNMENT REGULATION AND RESTRICTION OF SPEECH" — Ruffalo has played the character of the Hulk in various Marvel projects.

— Jim Geraghty (@Jim Geraghty) 1669994156

"Excellent idea, comrade! But real quick, before you implement your totally original plan...has a government ever taken over a media company like this in order to have exclusive rights for determining what constitutes 'misinformation,' and how did that turn out?" tweeted Nick Freitas, a Republican member of the Virginia House of Delegates.

Twitter indicated last month that it had stopped enforcing its COVID-19 misleading information policy.

Ruffalo is urging Georgians to vote for incumbent Democratic U.S. Sen. Raphael Warnock during the Peach State's Senate runoff election — Trump-backed GOP candidate Herschel Walker is challenging Warnock for the Senate seat.

Musk urged "independent-minded voters" to support Republican congressional candidates last month during the 2022 midterms. "To independent-minded voters: Shared power curbs the worst excesses of both parties, therefore I recommend voting for a Republican Congress, given that the Presidency is Democratic," he tweeted the day before Election Day.

Musk responded in the affirmative last week when asked if he would support Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis in 2024. "Yes," Musk tweeted. While DeSantis has not announced plans for a White House bid, he is widely viewed as a potential presidential contender.

The song is for the justices: Samuel Alito, Clarence Thomas, Neil Gorsuch, Amy Coney Barrett, Brett Kavanaugh. We hate you! We hate you!"
