South Carolina boy viciously mauled by pack of dogs near school bus stop, bit 60 times: 'Ate all the muscle out of his leg'

A South Carolina boy was viciously mauled by a pack of dogs while he was walking to a school bus stop.

An 11-year-old boy was walking to a school bus stop around 7:40 a.m. on Wednesday in Clinton, South Carolina. Suddenly, a pack of four dogs mauled the boy.

Local resident Natasha Mims said she witnessed the boy being attacked by the dogs. Despite being afraid of dogs and dealing with a rotator cuff injury, Mims told WYFF she did everything to stop the dogs from mauling the boy.

Mims said the dogs were "literally eating him."

The boy, identified as A'Rhyan Anderson, was bit roughly 60 times, according to the boy's mother – Amy Lowe.

Clinton Police said the boy was severely injured and flown to Greenville Memorial Hospital, where the boy underwent emergency surgery.

Anderson is now in stable condition. The mother said her son will require physical therapy to recover from the animal attack.

Lowe told WGHP, "He has a long road of recovery. He was bitten over 60 times. There’s no muscle. They ate all the muscle out of his left leg."

Mims added, "The dogs really looked like they had eaten him alive. At this point, I didn’t know whether he was dead or alive. I saw nothing but bones. I saw that he was eaten up really bad."

Mims explained, "You know, like the meat is gone, and that's what they were eating on when I pulled up, eating on his flesh or whatever, and so I asked him to turn over to look at me, and he said, 'I can't move.'"

Lowe said, "It’s traumatizing. I’m traumatized. I’m sure my son is traumatized."

Once police arrived at the brutal scene, officers shot two of the dogs. The other two dogs escaped. The animals were described as large, black-colored mixed-breed dogs.

Lowe declared, "I want the dogs put down. I want the owners of the dogs held responsible. They’re going to be held accountable. I want justice for my son."

Clinton Police said they have yet to locate the owner of the savage dogs.

Law enforcement is asking anyone with information regarding the dogs to contact animal control or police.

Montana guide dies after being mauled by grizzly bear near Yellowstone National Park

A Montana man has died days after he was mauled by a grizzly bear while he was fishing alone in an area outside Yellowstone National Park.

What are the details?

The Associated Press reported that backcountry guide Charles "Carl" Mock, 40, of West Yellowstone was attacked Thursday while in a forested area along the Madison River, and sustained "significant scalp and facial wounds."

He passed away in a hospital on Saturday from a stroke, which KIFI-TV reported was "a bit of a shock" to both doctors and Mock's family after he appeared to have been recovering well after undergoing two surgeries.

Mock was able to call 911 for help after the mauling, and was found in less than an hour. He was transported via toboggan and snowmobile before he was taken by ambulance to a hospital in Idaho Falls.

Officials discovered a moose carcass roughly 50 yards from where Mock was attacked, leading them to believe the bear might have been defending the carcass.

Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks spokesperson Morgan Jacobsen told the AP that Mock had bear spray on his person during the attack and that the safety tab on the device had been pulled, but authorities do not know if he was able to use it to defend himself.

Jacobsen said that an older male grizzly was killed Friday "after it charged a group of seven game wardens and other personnel as they approached the scene of the attack." The bear, which officials are confident is the one that attacked Mock, was fired at by several people before it dropped 20 yards from the group.

A GoFundMe page created to assist with Mock's medical bills said that he had "such passion for outdoors, hiking, fishing, photography, and is a beloved guide to countless visitors in Yellowstone."

The organizer provided an update following his passing:

We would like to let you know that early this morning Carl suffered a massive stroke and sadly, he didn't make it through. This comes as a terrible shock and is heartbreaking to everyone, since both the surgeries went so well. We will keep you updated with the service information as the plans are made. All of the money that is being donated on this page and in the cans throughout town will be given to the family to help cover the medical bills and funeral costs. We appreciate the continued support from this community to help ease these financial burdens for Carl's family.

3-year-old boy dead, mother in critical condition after being mauled by neighbor's dogs in New Jersey

A three-year-old New Jersey boy was killed and his mother left in critical condition after they were attacked by their neighbor's two pit bulls this week.

What are the details?

Tanveer Ahmed worked hard and saved his money to move his family out of an apartment and purchased a house where his three young boys could play in the yard. But he and his wife became concerned over behaviors displayed by one of their neighbor's dogs.

"The mother went to the neighbor two times to let her know the dog is wild, it's out of hand," one relative of the couple told WLNY-TV, adding, "and you know, the owner laughed it off."

Another relative said, "It cost an innocent child his life."

On Tuesday, the Ahmeds' three-year-old, Aziz, was playing in the back yard when the two pit bulls owned by the neighbor were able to dig under and enter the fenced yard and attack him. His mother ran to intervene, and was also mauled.

The Ahmeds' 10-year-old called 911 for help, and first responders rushed the toddler and his mother to the hospital. Aziz did not survive, and his mother remains in critical condition.

Officials said the dogs were euthanized and, thus far, no charges have been filed in connection with the attack. But neighbors say the dogs had been a nuisance long before little Aziz's life was taken, and some said the animals were allowed to roam the neighborhood — leading them to keep their kids inside.

One told WABC-TV, "Those pit bulls bit people all in this area. I'm aware of certain houses, so I try to walk a different path when I know that they're on that block."

A GoFundMe has been set up for the family by Coney Island Auto Parts, who write that "Tanveer is loved by his co-workers and truly an asset to the company." They are "calling upon the kindness of family, friends and strangers to help the Ahmed family in this difficult time."
