Commercial for Always women's pads confuses viewers, features person who appears to be a man

A recent commercial for the Always brand of women's pads features someone who appears to be a man, leaving viewers confused about the advertisement for the menstruation product.

A 15-second promotion for Always Infinity Pads with Flexfoam features either a man or a transgender man in its commercial in support of "all bodies."

"No two bodies are the same. Some pads never got that message," the commercial begins, before promoting that the product "fits all bodies."

But audiences are unable to pinpoint whether the actor in question is indeed a man or a biological woman posing as a man.

A Reddit thread titled "Always FlexFoam - do men use these?" asks, "[W]hy would a man ever be part of this demographic?

"This isn't an inclusivity thing, this is a 'you're a biological man and have no need for this product' thing," the caption adds.

"Are you referring to the person in the purple shirt? Is that just a tall, gangly female?" the top comment asks.

"It’s pretty clear that a biological woman who identifies as a man was cast in this commercial for the sake of inclusion," says Natasha Biase, a reporter and writer on women's issues.

"Interestingly, this casting choice admits that only women can get their period," she adds.

A Twitter user took a different perspective, however, criticizing the ad because the company hasn't "gotten the f***ing message that not everyone who menstruates is a woman."

"Maybe take the 'you go girl!' s**t off your pads & then get back to me," it continues.

The next day, a different viewer claimed that the actor was indeed a man, saying, "OMG, I just saw a tv ad for Always Flexfoam pads that had a man in it! Well let’s say a male cuz I wouldn’t call him a man!"

Several ad campaigns for Always appear to be inactive, with error pages and missing videos on their pages. This includes the brand's "Empowering girls through education" campaign, "Our epic battle like a girl" campaign, as well as its "#EndPeriodPoverty" campaign.

A different company called L, which specializes in organic tampons, is currently running an ad campaign featuring a male content creator named Jeffrey Marsh.

\u201cYou gotta wonder if brands run campaigns like this knowing how stupid they are in an effort to go viral.\n\nBecause literally no woman is going to buy tampons that are being promoted by a man.\u201d

Breaking: US F-22 fighter jet takes down unidentified 'high-altitude airborne object' flying over Canada

The North American Aerospace Defense Command announced that it was monitoring a "high-altitude airborne object over Northern Canada" on Saturday afternoon. Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said the flying object has been shot down.

NORAD issued a statement:

Military aircraft are currently operating from Alaska and Canada in support of North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) activities. NORAD confirms that we have positively identified a high-altitude airborne object over Northern Canada. While we cannot discuss specifics related to these activities at this time, please note that NORAD conducts sustained, dispersed operations in the defense of North America through one or all three NORAD regions. NORAD is a United States and Canada bi-national organization charged with the missions of aerospace warning, aerospace control and maritime warning for North America.

Trudeau wrote on Twitter: "I ordered the take down of an unidentified object that violated Canadian airspace. @NORADCommand shot down the object over the Yukon. Canadian and U.S. aircraft were scrambled, and a U.S. F-22 successfully fired at the object. I spoke with President Biden this afternoon. Canadian Forces will now recover and analyze the wreckage of the object. Thank you to NORAD for keeping the watch over North America."

There are yet to be reports identifying the "high-altitude airborne object," and whether it could be similar to the purported Chinese spy balloon that was shot down off the coast of South Carolina on Feb. 4 or the unidentified flying object roughly the size of a small car that was flying at an altitude of around 40,000 feet off that was downed in northeastern Alaska on Friday.

This story is breaking news and will be updated with more details as they become available.

CNN chief international correspondent stops during live shot, captures viral moment desperate Ukrainians kneel in prayer amid Russian invasion

Clarissa Ward, CNN's chief international correspondent, witnessed a moving demonstration of faith on live television Thursday morning as a group of Ukrainians kneeled on the ground in prayer as Russia continued its invasion into the war-torn country.

What are the details?

Talking with CNN anchor Don Lemon, Ward — who was on the ground in Kharkiv, Ukraine, Thursday morning — witnessed the group of people praying on what appeared to be a public street amid the danger.

“I think this ... really speaks to the sort of desperation of this moment,” Ward said of the group's faithfulness. “We just see a small group of people ... have gathered in the main square, and they are kneeling and praying because right now there is clearly a sense of having no idea what is coming down the pipeline, what is in store.”

Video footage showed the group of people as Ward pointed out that the scene — though dire and desperate — was "very moving."

“It’s freezing cold here, so to see these people kneeling on the cold stone in prayer is honestly very moving,” she continued. “And I think it speaks to the state of ordinary Ukrainians here who have done absolutely nothing to deserve this.”

Ward added that Ukrainians have every reason to fall to their knees as Russia continued its deadly advance into the country, ushering in violence and uncertainty in the hours and days ahead.

“I think that’s why you’re seeing those people ... getting to their knees and praying,” she said.

CNN reporter Natasha Bertrand shared the segment on social media, tweeting, "What a moment captured by @clarissaward and her team in Kharkiv. 'A small group of people have gathered in the main square and they are kneeling and praying,' Clarissa says. 'Because right now there is truly a sense of having no idea what is coming down the pipeline.'"
