Liberals are furious with Neil Tyson after he defends Elon Musk: 'What in the god d**n F*** neil'

Famed astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson issued a tweet defending billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk, and many on the left responded with furious castigation.

"While casting shade on @elonmusk for what he’s done, is doing, or will do, try to pause & remember that he made electric cars a normal thing in society and he commercialized space — for cargo, satellites, & people," Tyson tweeted Tuesday.

"Count him among those who are inventing civilization’s future," he added.

Tyson's sentiment was very popular, with more than 183k people "liking" the message and nearly 23k people retweeting it.

But many on the left were less than enthused.

"I will always have issues with those who abuse their power and amplify racism, antisemitism, and misinformation. He is empowering the divide in our country and signed on to this platform without a clue on how to run it, as misinterpreting our country's values," read one tweet from a user identifying himself as a liberal democrat.

"Unless you think the future should involve women, Black people, trans people or Jewish people. Then he's ushering in an age of dehumanization, harassment at work and discrimination," replied activist Brianna Wu.

"So we should just write off fascism, racism, election disinformation, & journalist suspension since he’s CEO of Tesla & SpaceX?" responded another detractor.

"Hitler made the trains run on time. Mussolini built roads and bridges. Pablo Escobar provided amenities to the poor. Do you even hear yourself?" read another popular response to Tyson.

"He’s now made his intentions very clear. He’s a petulant d***, a threat to civilization & deserves no defense. You might pause & review those intentions," said another critic.

"You should really delete this ignorant tweet," read a tweet from a liberal podcaster.

Another critic tweeted, "What in the god damn F*** neil[?]"

While Musk was once praised for his efforts in manufacturing and popularizing the electric vehicle through his company Tesla, many on the left have turned on him after he acquired Twitter for $44 billion in order to increase free speech on the platform.

Musk said Tuesday that he would step down as CEO of Twitter if a majority of users voted for him to do so on a poll he posted on the platform. He later said he was looking for someone to take his place.

Backlash is swift after Neil deGrasse Tyson claims Rudolph, Santa's red-nosed reindeer, is 'misgendered'

Astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson was criticized this week after claiming on Christmas Eve that Rudolph, the fictional red-nosed reindeer who leads Santa Claus's sleigh, has been "misgendered."

What did Tyson say?

According to Tyson, Rudolph cannot be a male reindeer because male reindeer lose their antlers before Christmas.

"Santa doesn't know Zoology: Both male & female Reindeer grow antlers. But all male Reindeer lose their antlers in the late fall, well-before Christmas," Tyson tweeted.

He continued, "So Santa's reindeer, which all sport antlers, are therefore all female, which means Rudolf has been misgendered."

While Santa's zoological information may be lacking, Tyson did explain that Santa's knowledge of physics seems to be adequate.

"Santa Knows Physics: Of all colors, Red light penetrates fog best. That's why Benny the Blue-nosed reindeer never got the gig," Tyson said.

What was the response?

Tyson's message triggered swift criticism, which included accusations that Tyson was "ruining things that are supposed to be fun."

  • "Neil deGrasse Tyson doesn't know fiction:Both male and female reindeer are earth bound creatures and don't fly at any time, not even Christmas. So Santa's reindeer, which all fly, are therefore fictional creatures which means who gives a d**n?" one person replied.
  • "So you're saying a magic reindeer can have a red nose that lights up but not antlers at Xmas unless it's male. Man, I'm so glad we have you science people to explain stuff like this to us," another person sarcastically responded.
  • "Why ruin this magic for children with your reddit-tier haha i'm so smart bulls***, this isn't funny, you aren't clever, and nobody cares, let them have this magic in their lives, you sound like an adolescent," another person said.
  • "hear tha tsound? Thats the sound of Dr Tyson sucking the fun out for everyone on Christmas," one person replied.
  • "Hey. Science dude, supposedly... they FLY. One has a luminous NOSE that navigates blizzards. They stand on rooftops. Stop trying to apply science to magic folklore. Serouosly, Just take a day off, do it for the kids," another person said.
  • "Yes, this is the implausible thing about the story," one person mocked.
  • "they also cant fly in real life. this santa guys a real fraud. thank you for always telling us the truth neil," another person mocked.
  • "They're magic reindeer a**hole. The normal rules don't apply. Quit trying to s*** on Christmas," one person replied.

As many other critics pointed out, Tyson's message about Rudolph doesn't make climatological sense considering that the North Pole, which is where Santa Claus is headquartered, is a tundra climate and does not experience the autumn season.

Emmy-nominated sports reporter fired after he called GOP Sen. Tim Scott an 'Uncle Tom'

A TV sports reporter was fired on Wednesday after he called Republican Sen. Tim Scott (S.C.) an "Uncle Tom."

Fred Gerteiny, a sports reporter for the News 12 Connecticut network, wrote the racial slur in a since-deleted post on Twitter. Gerteiny replied to a tweet by The Hill's Twitter account that linked to an article about Scott commenting on President Donald Trump's remarks during the first presidential debate regarding the Proud Boys.

Gerteiny wrote, "Thanks Uncle Tom," in the now-deleted tweet.

On Wednesday, Gerteiny issued an apology on his Twitter account, which has since been deleted.

"Earlier today, I tweeted a racially insensitive comment, when I referred to @SenatorTimScott as an 'Uncle Tom.' I apologize to the Senator, my colleagues @News12CT, and anyone else I may have offended with this deeply offensive tweet," Gerteiny wrote.

Gerteiny, who is white, claimed that he also "wrote an email to Senator Scott" to apologize for the comment.

Gerteiny was fired by News 12 Connecticut for the "racially insensitive comment" on Wednesday.

"News 12 Connecticut learned on Wednesday afternoon that one of its anchors acted inappropriately on social media. After reviewing the incident, the network released sports reporter, Fred Gerteiny, as a result of a racially insensitive comment," News 12 Connecticut said in a statement. "News 12 Networks has a zero tolerance policy for racism or improper conduct based on race, and prides itself on being an objective and unbiased multi-platform news company."

Gerteiny's profile has been scrubbed from the News 12 Connecticut website.

An "Uncle Tom," is a "Black person, especially a man, considered by other Black people to be subservient to or to curry favor with white people," according to the definition provided by Dictionary.com.

Scott told reporters on Wednesday that he believed President Trump "misspoke" during the presidential debate.

"White supremacy should be denounced at every turn," Scott said. "I think the president misspoke, and he needs to correct it. If he doesn't correct it, I guess he didn't misspeak."

President Trump has since clarified his comments from Tuesday's debate. On Wednesday, President Trump said he didn't know who the Proud Boys are and noted that the group should "stand down and let law enforcement do its work."

Earlier this year, Scott predicted that black support for President Donald Trump would increase by 50% in 2020 compared to 2016.

"President Trump will see a 50 percent increase in his African-American support," Scott told Fox News host Neil Cavuto in February. "It will go from 8 percent in 2016 to a minimum of 12 percent in 2020. He may even get to 15 percent of the African American vote, and that is game over."

Another black conservative had racial slurs thrown at him in the past week. Women's March co-founder Tamika Mallory called Republican Kentucky Attorney General Daniel Cameron a "sellout negro" for not charging the two police officers in the death of Breonna Taylor in Louisville, Kentucky.

Daily Beast columnist and CNN commentator Sophia A. Nelson called Cameron an "Uncle Tom," who "is a disgrace to his people and his community."

'They've sold out': House GOP leader says he doesn't want US Chamber of Commerce endorsement

House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) said Thursday that he does not want the endorsement of the United States Chamber of Commerce, accusing the pro-business group of selling out by backing nearly two dozen Democrats this election cycle.

What are the details?

Earlier this week, The Hill reported that the USCC was set to endorse 23 House freshman Democrats for reelection, and eye-opening move for the organization typically known for backing Republicans. The group is also giving its seal of approval to 29 freshman GOP members.

During an interview on Fox News' "Lou Dobbs Tonight," the host asked McCarthy for his take on "the [U.S.] Chamber of Commerce choosing to fund Democratic — left-wing Democrats, point-of-fact — along with all the [Republicans in name only] Republicans."

"Well, I'll tell you this: I don't want the U.S. Chamber's endorsement," McCarthy replied, "because they have sold out."

The minority leader told viewers to listen to local chambers of commerce, but continued to lambaste the national chamber.

"It is hypocrisy that the U.S. Chamber of Commerce would endorse these Democrats that are part of this socialist agenda that is driving this country out and is fighting this president," he continued, adding, "Remember, these are the people who voted for impeachment."

Fox News reported that "the move to support some Democrats by the USCC, which calculates its endorsements largely based on how frequently members of Congress support chamber-backed legislation, has drawn at least some pushback from the right-leaning factions within the pro-business lobbying group."

According to Politico, the USCC has been consumed with "turmoil" over its backing of Democrats.

The outlet reported:

There is particular concern the Democrats in question do not have the pro-business record an endorsement would convey. State Chamber of Oklahoma President Chad Warmington wrote a letter Tuesday to national Chamber leaders fervently opposing the proposal to back Rep. Kendra Horn, perhaps the most vulnerable House Democrat in the country.

Citing the Oklahoma congresswoman's voting record on energy issues, Warmington wrote, "I question how the U.S. Chamber could endorse a candidate who consistently voted against the largest industry in Oklahoma, employing over 90,000 workers throughout the state. That is hardly a pro-business record. I am also concerned the U.S. Chamber would endorse a congresswoman that voted in lockstep with Nancy Pelosi and other Democrats who are not pro-business nearly 90 percent of the time."

Neil Bradley, the USCC's executive vice president, addressed the criticism his organization has received this week, tweeting, "While some focus on @USChamber endorsing 23 freshmen Ds, take note, Chamber also just endorsed GOP challengers to 4 freshmen Ds b/c they were below 70% on scorecard & challengers earned endorsement. Announcements coming soon. We also continue to look at other races. #notpartisan"

He added, "Also, @USChamber just endorsed 29 freshmen Rs who are up for re-election. That is over 90% of freshmen R class," repeating the hashtag, "#notpartisan."
