Kristi Noem reveals fallout of liberal lies about ICE, telling Glenn Beck: 'Words have consequences'

Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem spoke on Thursday with Blaze Media co-founder Glenn Beck about the current phase of the administration's deportations as well as about the Department of Homeland Security's successful new recruitment campaign.

Noem emphasized that while there are opportunities for patriots to directly help U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement round up criminal noncitizens, it is essential that "hardworking, everyday Americans" assist by publicly signaling their support for ICE — especially in the face of mounting attacks on federal agents.

President Donald Trump's One Big Beautiful Bill Act allocates $76.5 billion to ICE. Roughly $30 billion of the funds are intended for the recruitment of 10,000 more staff so that the agency can achieve 1 million annual deportations.

'That almost gives them permission to go out there and take action against these individuals.'

To fill some of these roles, the DHS launched an ICE recruitment campaign last week offering eligible applicants a maximum $50,000 signing bonus, student loan repayment, and other perks. On Wednesday, the agency announced it was also waiving age limits "so even more patriots will qualify to join ICE."

Noem told Beck, "We already have over 80,000 applicants for those 10,000 positions, so we're going through that and getting them through the process to see who qualifies."

The secretary noted that the overwhelming interest demonstrates that the "American people stand with the rule of law, that they want to help, and they want to be a part of this" despite the demonization of ICE officers by "the media and the socialists."

Nevertheless, she acknowledged that anti-ICE propaganda — including false claims of agents kidnapping people and Nazi affiliations — are impactful.

Responding to Beck's suggestion that such propaganda sets the stage for attacks and obstruction, Noem noted that "we just got this morning the notification that attacks on ICE officers is up by over 1,000% than what it was six months ago."

"Words have consequences," continued Noem, referring to the rhetoric pushed by some politicians. "What you say matters. And the consequences of using dangerous language like that is that people take action on them. Anybody who has a tendency to be unstable or to be violent, that almost gives them permission to go out there and take action against these individuals."

The DHS revealed last month that assaults on ICE agents between January 21 and July 14 were up 830% over the same period the year before.

Off-duty border officer shot in face allegedly by ‘Illegal Alien Monster’ with multiple arrests

A robbery over the weekend in a New York City park turned violent when one of the alleged culprits, an illegal alien, shot an off-duty Customs and Border Protection officer.

On Saturday, the officer and a female companion were sitting alongside the Hudson River in Fort Washington Park in Manhattan when they were ambushed by two men riding a moped around 11:50 p.m., the New York Post reported.

'He was apprehended at the Border in April 2023 but, instead of being deported, was RELEASED.'

A video of the incident showed one of the suspects approaching the two by the riverside. After a brief scuffle and an exchange of gunfire, the suspects fled the scene on their moped.

One of the alleged culprits shot the officer in his face and left forearm. The off-duty officer responded by drawing his firearm and shooting the suspect multiple times.

The wounded suspect was identified as Miguel Francisco Mora Nunez, a 21-year-old Dominican national, after he walked into a hospital to receive care for the gunshot wounds and was subsequently arrested.

Nunez illegally entered the U.S. in April 2023. He was apprehended and processed by border officials who released him due to a lack of detention space. A judge ordered his removal that same year, sources told the Post.

The suspect has been accused of many other violent crimes in the U.S. At the time of his arrest, Nunez was reportedly wanted on kidnapping and weapons charges in Massachusetts. Law enforcement in New York City previously arrested him four times, but he was released without bail on each occasion, the Post stated. He was previously accused of assaulting a pregnant woman, threatening to kill another foreign national with a machete, and violating a protection order.

The Post reported that none of the alleged offenses were eligible for bail.

The accomplice in the shooting remains at large.

Police officers, who quickly responded to the shootout, were already near the scene after reports that the same two suspects had mugged a woman minutes before, stealing her cell phone.

The Department of Homeland Security stated that the off-duty CBP agent is in stable condition after undergoing surgery on Sunday.

DHS Secretary Kristi Noem visited the wounded officer in the hospital on Monday.

“Suspect Miguel Francisco Mora Nunez is a national and citizen of the Dominican Republic,” Noem wrote in a post on X. “RE ENTERED and RELEASED under Biden — on April 4, 2023, the United States Border Patrol apprehended him at/near San Luis, AZ.”

President Donald Trump also weighed in on the recent attack, slamming Democrats for allowing illegal aliens into the country.

“Last night, in New York City, an incredible CBP Officer was shot in the face by an Illegal Alien Monster freed into the Country under Joe Biden,” Trump wrote on social media. “He was apprehended at the Border in April 2023 but, instead of being deported, was RELEASED.”

“The CBP Officer bravely fought off his attacker, despite his wounds, demonstrating enormous Skill and Courage,” Trump continued. “The Democrats have flooded our Nation with Criminal Invaders, and now, they must all be thrown out or, in some cases, immediately prosecuted in that we cannot take a chance that they are able to come back. That’s how evil and dangerous they are!”

Kristi Noem enrages liberals with 2-word response to dismissal of deportation case

Ten illegal aliens facing transfer from Texas to a holding facility at the U.S. naval base in Guantánamo Bay, Cuba, filed a lawsuit against the Trump administration on March 1. The plaintiffs, represented by the American Civil Liberties Union, claimed that the "arbitrary and capricious" transfers violated the Administrative Procedure Act, the First Amendment's due process clause, and the Immigration and Nationality Act, and requested a stay.

In the time since, seven of the plaintiffs have been sent packing, including Maiker Espinoza Escalona, who was identified by the Department of Homeland Security as a lieutenant of the Venezuelan terrorist gang Tren de Aragua. The remaining plaintiffs threw in the towel on Thursday, indicating they "no longer wish to continue litigating this case."

Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, chief among the defendants named in the lawsuit, had a two-word response to the voluntary dismissal of the action: "Suck it."

While some online responded positively to the taunt, calling it "based," others, particularly critics on the left, characterized the Homeland Security secretary's message — which appeared on her official government account on X — as "cruel," "classless," and "disgraceful."

'How evil and depraved.'

Former Biden DHS spokesman Alex Howard wrote, "If we're lucky, it'll only take years to undo the damage Kristi Noem has inflicted on DHS, its workforce, and its reputation in just four months. This behavior is beneath the office and an embarrassment to the institution."

Aaron Reichlin-Melnick, a senior fellow at the American Immigration Council, was among those who expressed disbelief, writing, "This is the official account of the Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security of the United States."

"This is real," whined Ron Filipkowski, the editor in chief of the anti-Trump publication MeidasTouch News.

One user concluded, "They are the worst of us."

"This is DHS Secretary Kristi Noem saying 'suck it' in celebration over deporting people to El Salvador without due process," tweeted Democratic propagandist Harry Sisson. "She's celebrating constitutional rights being ignored. How evil and depraved."

Blaze News has reached out to a spokesman for Noem for comment.

As the plaintiffs taunted by Noem voluntarily dismissed the case "without prejudice," they could refile in the future; however, the government doesn't appear to think they have legs to stand on.

Attorneys for the government argued that the plaintiffs lacked standing to bring the suit; the court lacked jurisdiction to stay the government's exercise of discretion to send an illegal alien to "an appropriate place of detention"; the plaintiffs' claims were improperly venued in the District Court for the District of Columbia as they had never been held in the district; and Noem has the statutory authority to send immigration detainees to Guantánamo.

'Very thankful that they are off the streets of the United States and that we have safer communities.'

President Donald Trump issued a memorandum on Jan. 29 directing Noem and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth "to take all appropriate actions to expand the Migrant Operations Center at Naval Station Guantánamo Bay to full capacity to provide additional detention space for high-priority criminal aliens unlawfully present in the United States."

The stated aim of this initiative was "to halt the border invasion, dismantle criminal cartels, and restore national sovereignty."

The Pentagon established Joint Task Force Southern Guard to work with the DHS to fulfill Trump's order.

A U.S. official, speaking on the condition of anonymity, told Reuters there were roughly 70 illegal aliens presently detained at Guantánamo.

Noem told CNN talking head Dana Bash during a February interview at Guantánamo Bay that the individuals transported to the base "are the worst of the worst that we pulled off of our streets. ... Murderers, rapists."

"When I was there, I was able to watch one of the flights landing and them unload about 15 different of these criminals. Those were mainly child pedophiles, those that were out there trafficking children, trafficking drugs, and were pulled off of our streets and put at this facility," continued Noem. "Very thankful that they are off the streets of the United States and that we have safer communities."

The secretary noted further that efforts were underway to accommodate 30,000 detainees.
