OJ Simpson asked to comment on Murdaugh murder trial: 'I don’t know why they think I’m an expert on it' — gives his opinions anyway
O.J. Simpson couldn't fathom why he would be asked for his opinion on the trial of now-convicted murderer Alex Murdaugh, but decided to give his opinion anyway.
Lawyer Alex Murdaugh was convicted of killing both his wife and son, but before the jury reached its decision, Simpson took to Twitter to give his opinion on the trial despite claiming not to know why people are asking him about it.
"People keep asking me my opinion of the Alex Murdaugh trial," the caption of the former NFL running back's post read.
"A whole lot of people asking me about this Alex Murdaugh trial. I don’t know why they think I’m an expert on it. But I got to admit when he took the stand, a guy who’s [a] habitual liar, I did watch," Simpson confessed.
"When the trial first started, I watched him take the stand, and I thought it was probably a mistake because the guy is an admitted liar, and it’s hard for me to think he could be on the stand for five, six, seven, eight days without lying," Simpson added.
The "Naked Gun" actor then went into a legal analysis, commenting on theft and other possible crimes the convicted murderer should be investigated for.
"The question is: What did he lie about? But lying and stealing money is a little different than murder," the 75-year-old said.
"Do I think it’s more likely that he did it? Yes," Simpson continued.
The man nicknamed "The Juice" even began comparing the trial to his own convictions in 2008, when he served nine years in prison for an armed confrontation over sports collectibles.
"I’m curious there because I got nine to 33 years because I caught some guys trying to sell my stolen property and I yelled at them, and even they think I shouldn’t go to jail, and the judge gave me nine to 33 years. I’m trying to see what this guy is going to get," Simpson wondered.
Despite not knowing why he was asked about the trial, he finally concluded, "Nevertheless, I do think this guy more than likely did it."
After the verdict, Simpson posted another video titled "Down goes Murdaugh."
