Convicted child molester with disturbing, lengthy rap sheet found dead in prison; cellmate eyed as killer

A convicted child molester with a disturbing and lengthy rap was found dead in a California prison. Authorities have named his cellmate as a suspect in his death.

The California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation announced in a statement that an inmate was found unresponsive in his cell around 6:30 a.m. April 4 at the Mule Creek State Prison in Ione.

Cole was a volleyball coach with his twin brother, Jason Cole, when they were accused of molesting several victims, according to KCRA-TV.

Officers initiated lifesaving measures and then rushed the inmate to the prison's medical facility. A paramedic pronounced 48-year-old Robert E. Cole dead at 6:43 a.m. April 4.

Officials with the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation said they are investigating the death as a homicide.

Cole’s cellmate — 36-year-old Justin P. Welsh — was named as a suspect in the inmate's death and placed in restricted housing pending an investigation by the Mule Creek State Prison Investigative Services Unit and the Amador County District Attorney’s Office.

The Amador County Coroner will determine Cole's cause of death, according to the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation.

The California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation said Cole had been at the prison since August 2019.

Cole was a volleyball coach with his twin brother, Jason Cole, when they were accused of molesting several victims, according to KCRA-TV.

Cole was sentenced to life in prison with the possibility of parole for adult engaging in sex/sodomy with a child 10 years old or younger, adult engaging in oral copulation/penetration with a child 10 years of younger, lewd or lascivious acts with a child under 14 years old, oral copulation with force/violence/fear with a child under 14 years old, oral copulation with an unconscious victim, attempted sodomy with a victim under 18 years old, and attempted oral copulation with a victim under 16 years old and the subject over 21 years old.

Welsh was admitted to the prison in May 2023 and had been sentenced to 18 years in prison for corporal injury on a person within seven years of a prior conviction and assault with a firearm, both second-strike offenses, with enhancements for inflicting great bodily injury involving domestic violence and prior felony conviction of a serious offense.

Child molesters can now be marched in front of firing squads in Idaho

A month after making firing squads the Gem State's primary method of execution, Idaho Gov. Brad Little (R) passed a law last week granting judges and juries the ability to sentence convicted pedophiles to the death penalty.

Republican Gov. Brad Little said upon ratifying the legislation making child rape a death penalty offense, "Just like capital murder destroys lives, aggravated sexual abuse of a young child devastates victims and families for generations. The sexual abuse of children is sickening and evil, and perpetrators convicted of these crimes deserve the ultimate punishment."

Idaho House Bill 380, sponsored by Republican state Reps. Bruce Skaug and Josh Tanner, sets a mandatory minimum prison sentence of 25 years, with the possibility of life in prison, for the molestation of a minor ages 13-16 by an adult if two of 14 aggravating factors are present.

Aggravating factors include whether:

  • the victim was kidnapped;
  • the pedophile cause great bodily harm to the victim;
  • the pedophile was engaged in human trafficking;
  • the pedophile was already a registered sex offender;
  • the pedophile was in a position of trust, had a supervisory or disciplinary power over the victim, or at the time of the offense had parental/custodial authority over the child;
  • the victim used coercion; and/or
  • the victim was choked during the commission of the lewd conduct.

Alternatively, an adult pedophile found guilty of engaging in aggravated lewd conduct with a child 12 or under shall now be punished by life in prison or by death if a pair of similar factors are present. The list of aggravating factors in such cases also includes any form of penile penetration as well as repeat incidents involving the same victim.

'Idaho will not tolerate these offenses.'

Idaho previously allowed the death penalty only in first-degree murder cases with aggravating factors.

Prior to its passage, Skaug told his colleagues on the Idaho House Judiciary, Rules and Administration Committee, "Idaho currently has some of the most lenient statutes for child molestation and child rape in the nation," reported the Idaho Capital Sun.

"This legislation establishes a strong deterrent, making it clear Idaho will not tolerate these offenses," added Skaug.

The legislation passed the state House unopposed. In the state Senate, however, three Democrats — Sens. Alison Rabe, Ron Taylor, and Melissa Wintrow — and two Republicans — Sens. Phil Hart and Daniel Foreman — voted against the bill.

Gov. Little noted in a April 1 statement, "I commend my partners in the Legislature for strengthening Idaho's already powerful 'tough on crime' reputation among the state."

The Idaho Capital Sun noted that Idaho lawmakers expect a legal challenge, given that the U.S. Supreme Court ruled in a 2008 5-4 decision that sentencing a pedophile to death for raping a child is unconstitutional in cases where the victim was not killed.

Former Justice Anthony Kennedy wrote in the majority opinion, "The death penalty is not a proportional punishment for the rape of a child," and added that "in most cases justice is not better served by terminating the life of the perpetrator rather than confining him and preserving the possibility that he and the system will find ways to allow him to understand the enormity of his offense."

Democratic state lawmakers around the country appear keen to soften penalties for those monsters who prey on children.

Colorado Democrats, for instance, voted in 2023 against a bill making indecent exposure to children a felony and killed another piece of legislation last year that would have mandated minimum sentences for predators who buy children for sexual exploitation.

California Gov. Gavin Newsom ratified legislation in 2020 that enabled judges to go easy on non-straight pedophiles convicted of sex crimes against teenage minors.

'We really believe that part of a just society is to have appropriate punishment.'

Last year, California Democrats, state Sen. Scott Wiener in particular, unsuccessfully fought against Republican legislation that would impose harsher penalties against perverts who pay for sex with children. According to CBS News, Wiener, an LGBT activist, figured the legislation "could target the wrong people by punishing young adults in consensual relationships with minors."

In March, Virginia Democrats killed legislation that would prevent sex offenders from loitering within state parks or places where they could find themselves around children, including near playgrounds, athletic field, day-care centers, or gymnasiums.

It's a different story in red states such as Florida, Tennessee, and Idaho, where pedophiles now run the risk of death by acting on their sick desires.

In 2023, Florida passed a law imposing the death penalty for child rapists.

Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis stated, "We really believe that part of a just society is to have appropriate punishment. And so, if you commit a crime that is really, really heinous, you should have the ultimate punishment."

Despite Democratic opposition, Tennessee Republicans successfully advanced House Bill 1663 last year, enabling trial judges and juries to put child rapists six feet under.

The legislation, ratified in May 2024 by Tennessee Gov. Bill Lee (R), mandates either a sentence of death, imprisonment for life without the possibility of parole, or life imprisonment for an adult pedophile convicted of rape of a child ages 8-13. A pedophile convicted of aggravated rape of a child 8 or younger must now necessarily receive the death penalty or life imprisonment without parole.

Alabama appears poised to become the next state to add child rape to its list of capital offenses. The state House voted 86-5 in February for a bill that would allow the imposition of the death penalty in cases where an adult convict victimized a child under 12.

Pair of convicted pedophiles — one who raped, murdered 3-year-old girl — die on same night in same prison

Two convicted pedophiles died roughly within an hour of each other in an upstate New York prison last week. One of the inmates who was found dead was convicted of drugging, raping, and murdering a 3-year-old girl.

According to the state's Department of Corrections, 34-year-old Robert Fisher was pronounced dead at approximately 1:50 a.m. Oct. 22 at the Elmira Correctional Facility in Chemung County.

'He drugged her, went into her bedroom and raped her.'

WRGB-TV reported that 59-year-old William Brand was pronounced dead at approximately 2:52 a.m. Oct. 22.

The County Medical Examiner’s Office has not yet announced the cause of death for either inmate.

Both were admitted into the prison within the last month. Records indicate that Brand was admitted Oct. 10; Fisher was admitted Sept. 23.

Fisher admitted to drugging, raping, and murdering 3-year-old Josefina Cunningham and was convicted of his crimes in July 2023. He was sentenced to 20 years to life in September.

Rensselaer County Assistant District Attorney Antonia Edwards said during Fisher's sentencing, "The heinous acts of the defendant took Josie away from this world and this community. This community also deserves to know what horrible and vile acts this defendant committed and the absolute horror Josie met when she came home from day care on July 6, 2023, into July 7, 2023."

Fisher used prescription drugs from Josefina's mother — Laquesha Cunningham — to drug the 3-year-old girl before raping her.

“The defendant took the medication prescribed to Laquesha, crushed it up, and put it in a cup for Josie to drink. He drugged her, went into her bedroom and raped her,” Edwards said. “He did all of this while she was alive and awake; we only know that now because of the autopsy results."

Edwards added, "Seeing the pictures of Josie's face after what the defendant did to her was mortifying. Those images will be ingrained into the minds forever for those who saw them."

Brand was convicted of sexually abusing a child under the age of 11.

The New York State Police said in a statement that Brand was arrested in April 2024 and charged with predatory sexual assault against a child, second-degree course of sexual conduct against a child, and first-degree course of sexual conduct against a child. Authorities noted that Brand had inappropriate sexual contact multiple times with a child.

Brand was serving a 10-year prison sentence.

‘Depraved’ California Democrats vote to keep illegal immigrant pedophiles in America

California State Assemblyman Bill Essayli (R) recently proposed a bill that would have bypassed California's sanctuary state laws only for illegals who harm children.

While it seemed like a shoe in, every single state Democrat voted against the motion.

“I was inspired by two specific cases that we had coming out of the state of California,” Essayli tells Glenn Beck.

In one of those cases, a Colombian illegal immigrant raped a 14-year-old girl. While ICE wanted to deport the illegal, under California law it is illegal for the sheriff or any law enforcement to honor an ICE request or cooperate in any way with immigration officials.

The immigrant was picked up later in Boston, Massachusetts, where he was eventually deported.

“That’s what first inspired this bill. I said why does the state of California’s laws protect pedophiles? Why would we do this?” Essayli explains, adding, “All the law says is we’re rolling back sanctuary state as it applies to child sex offenders. If you’ve been convicted of committing a sex offense against a minor, you are required to comply with immigration official orders.”

The law wouldn’t open up the sanctuary state for anything else other than convicted pedophiles.

“Of course, if I was running the place I’d reverse the whole policy, but I said you know what, we’re only 18 out of 80 in here, we’re not controlling policy. Let’s get them on record, let’s expose the Democrat Party for who they are,” Essayli continues. “They are more concerned about protecting illegal immigrant pedophiles than they are about doing the right thing and protecting American citizens.”

Just last week, Essayli recalls, there was an illegal immigrant driving up and down the streets of LA, picking up women and young children and raping them in a “rape van.”

“He’s an illegal immigrant, and he is currently protected under our state laws from deportation,” Essayli says, disturbed.

Glenn agrees, telling Essayli that “California has just become depraved.”

“The only way to describe what is happening is true evil,” he adds.

Joe Rogan loses it over leftist push to rebrand pedophilia as another identity: 'For what reason?'

The titular host of "The Joe Rogan Experience" recently spoke with Manhattan Institute fellow Christopher Rufo about the ongoing culture wars over race and gender that have transformed American homes, schools, and HR departments into battlefields.

While Rufo and Rogan touched on various issues in Tuesday's episode, including the perniciousness of DEI practices and the left's tactical mischaracterization of Florida's Parental Rights in Education Act, the host's most biting commentary concerned recent efforts by Democrats and other leftists to normalize evil, particularly the kind animated by a desire to prey on children and destroy innocence.

Early in the podcast, the duo discussed the importance of moral structure and well-enforced rules in a society.

Rogan suggested that it "all goes out the window" when deviant behavior is left unchecked. This prompted Rufo to reflect on his time living in Seattle.

The conservative activist noted that when walking his son to kindergarten in the Democrat-run city, they would "have to be avoiding schizophrenics, avoiding tents, avoiding people shooting up, avoiding people just s***ting in the street."

Rufo noted that when he raised his concerns with city administrators, he was told, "Oh, well, you know, we have to be compassionate to our houseless neighbors," to which his reply was apparently, "No we don't. This is a danger to kids."

Although Rogan agreed with Rufo that there must be "reasonable limits" on compassion as well as on tolerance for bad behavior, he seized upon the word "houseless."

"I love when these terms like 'the houseless' — like, you already have a word for it. Yeah, stop trying to dress it up with a new word," said Rogan.

Rogan then highlighted another euphemism he had come across that has similarly been used to disguise a grim reality.

"This one's been driving me f**king crazy lately: 'minor-attracted person,'" said Rogan. "I saw two politicians in two different speeches talk about protecting 'minor-attracted persons.' You're talking about pedophiles."

"That's what we're talking about," Rufo confirmed.

Karen Berg, a Democratic state senator in Kentucky, employed the term last week during a committee hearing concerning legislation that would make it a felony to possess a sex doll fashioned to resemble a child.

Berg appears to say in one video of the hearing, "There are what they call 'MAPS,' minor-attracted persons, and the limited amount of research that's done on these dolls, guys, suggest that they actually — for people who are attracted to minors — that these dolls actually decrease their proclivity to go out and attack children."

This might be the most disturbing thing you see today. Watch KY Democratic Senator Karen Berg propose Child Sex Dolls for Pedophiles. This type of disturbing proposition has no place in the Commonwealth.
— (@)

The term has entered circulation in some leftist circles, but there has been resistance in the alphabet community.

Center Square indicated in 2020 that the then-new movement to use the terms "minor-attracted persons" or "non-offending minor attracted persons" was ultimately an effort to normalize pedophilia. It apparently had caused concern among elements of the gay community who wanted to make sure that the so-called MAPS flag wouldn't be flown at LGBT parades.

There appears to be continued support for the term and the corresponding effort on university campuses.

Sociology professor Allyn Walker penned a book normalizing pedophilia called "A Long, Dark Shadow: Minor-Attracted People and Their Pursuit of Dignity," which was published by University of California Press. Facing significant backlash over the book and related research, Walker was ultimately squeezed out of Old Dominion University in Virginia in 2021.

However, the ouster revealed an ideological infection in the academy. Newsweek revealed that 60 professors in mental health, human sexuality, and other fields defended Walker's activism, calling it "important and ground-breaking" scholarship.

"It must be that these people have no children," Rogan told Rufo. "It must be. I don't know. If they do, they're monsters. This idea that you're going to minimize the harm caused by evil criminals who steal children's lives, ruin their lives forever. And you're just going to call them a 'minor-attracted person' and try to say that it's an identity. ... For what reason?"

Rufo noted that efforts to normalize perversity targeting children appear to be coupled with efforts to shut down criticism.

"You look at even something that has been propagandized at length: drag queen story hour. Let's just break it down to the basic facts. These are adult men dressing up in women's clothing ... dancing and performing for other people's children," said Rufo. "That should be a red flag for people but ... they've couched it in this language like you're talking about — euphemisms. Very, very soft-sounding words [like] tolerance, inclusion."

"But you're concealing from people the fact that it's like, actually, no, this is kind of uncomfortable," continued the conservative activist.

Rufo noted that while most people understand that what's going on is wrong, many have been cowed into silence by the threat of being branded a "bigot."

Top model jumped to her death 2 years after flying on Jeffrey Epstein's Lolita Express to visit 'Pedophile Island'

A top model known as the "Russian Rapunzel" jumped to death two years after being one of the teen girls flown to Jeffrey Epstein's private island, according to newly unsealed court documents.

Ruslana Korshunova was an up-and-coming model in the mid-2000s – who appeared in ads for Marc Jacobs, DKNY, and Vera Wang. Korshunova was the face of Nina Ricci perfume and was featured on the covers of French Elle and Russian Vogue. She worked with the elite modeling agency IMG – which features top models Heidi Klum and Kate Moss.

However, Korshunova was also involved with convicted pedophile Jeffrey Epstein, according to recently unsealed court docs.

At age 18, Korshunova flew on Epstein's private aircraft known as the Lolita Express on June 7, 2006, flight logs show. Also on the flight was Epstein; his bodyguard, Igor Zinoviev; his personal chef, Lance Calloway; his longtime assistant, Sarah Kellen; a woman; and an unidentified former UFC fighter.

The private jet transported Korshunova to Epstein's private island – Little St. James in the Caribbean.

The next month, Epstein would be arrested by the Palm Beach Police Department on felony charges of procuring a minor for prostitution and solicitation of a prostitute.

Korshunova – born in Almaty, Kazakhstan – would commit suicide two years after visiting the so-called "Pedophile Island."

In June 2008, a 20-year-old Korshunova leaped to her death in New York City.

She reportedly cut a hole in construction mesh covering the ninth-floor balcony of her apartment at Water Street in the Financial District of Manhattan. The top model then killed herself by jumping off the balcony.

Her ex-boyfriend told the New York Post at the time that Korshunova kept her problems "bottled up."

"I think she just gave up,” said Artem Perchenok. "When a job would go bad, she’d take it out on herself."

Perchenok said Korshunova told her manager that "she didn’t know what to do with her life."

The boyfriend said that Korshunova had lost a lot of weight in the month before her death.

Two months before her death, the model wrote on social media, "I'm so lost. Will I ever find myself?"

Korshunova was also allegedly a member of the Rose of the World group – a controversial "self-help" organization that is often described as a "cult."

The Sydney Morning Herald reported in 2014, "The Rose of the World was a group founded in the U.S. in the 1970s but was closed in the 1980s. It still has several branches operating around the world, including Russia. Members pay about $1,200 for a three-day course to undergo 'dehumanizing' treatments. Training sessions reportedly involve coaches asking participants to share their worst experiences and encourage them to take the blame for all the negative aspects of their lives."

Journalist Peter Pomerantsev claims Korshunova and her friend – fellow Russian model Anastasia Drozdova – became members of the Rose of the World group. Both models would go on to kill themselves.

Drozdova also leaped to her death from the top of an apartment building in Kyiv in 2009.

Arkansas middle school teacher, 30, exchanged nude photos with 14 year old to 'gratify her sexual desires': Police

A former Arkansas teacher, age 30, is accused of sending nude photos to a 14-year-old student, according to police. The teacher allegedly instructed the teen to send her explicit photos to "arouse or gratify her sexual desires."

Kaytlann Barnes was arrested on Nov. 17 at her home in Fort Smith, Arkansas, following an investigation into alleged child sex crimes by investigators with the Logan County Sheriff’s Office with the assistance of the Arkansas State Police.

Barnes was charged with felony counts of sexual indecency with a child, producing, directing or promoting a sexual performance by a child, use of a communication device, and computer child pornography.

Barnes was previously a teacher at the Booneville Junior High School. Barnes is accused of having an inappropriate relationship with a junior student at Booneville High School.

The Logan County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement, "It is alleged that Kaytlann, who was a teacher at the time, sent sexually explicit photos through the Snapchat app to a student and that she directed the student to send sexually explicit pictures back to her."

KATV reported, "Documents show Barnes directed the boy to send pictures and a video of his sex organs to her to 'arouse or gratify her sexual desires.'"

The former teacher allegedly sent nude photos to the student over two nights.

The Logan County Sheriff’s Office noted that Barnes was "no longer employed" with the Booneville School District.

Barnes was released from jail on Monday after posting $25,000 bail.

While being sentenced for child sex charges, 80-year-old convicted pedophile gets punched unconscious by victim in courtroom

An 80-year-old convicted pedophile was punched unconscious by his alleged victim in a Nevada courtroom while being sentenced for child sex crimes, according to witnesses.

Richard Gross, 80, was being sentenced in a Clark County district courtroom on Oct. 2. Gross was initially charged with 26 felony counts in connection with purported sexual abuse of a child. Gross pleaded guilty through an Alford plea to one felony count of attempted lewdness with a child under the age of 14.

Judge Tierra Jones sentenced Gross to a suspended sentence of 60-80 months — but he will not serve any prison time unless he violates his probation.

Gross was ordered by the judge to register on the sex offender registry along with lifetime supervision. The Division of Parole and Probation will have unlimited access to all of his electronic devices.

KLAS-TV reported, "As part of his suspended sentence, Gross must abide by certain terms: He is prohibited from using alcohol and marijuana, and he must live at least 1,000 feet from public or private schools, school bus stops, daycare facilities, video arcades, parks, playgrounds, movie theaters, or athletic fields or facilities used for youth sports, according to court records."

The accuser — now a 29-year-old man — was in the courtroom to provide a victim impact statement.

As Gross began to leave the courtroom with his wife and attorney, the victim stood up and punched Gross in the face. The blow broke his eyeglasses and knocked Gross to the ground, according to the arrest report.

The convicted pedophile lost consciousness after being punched, and he was taken to a local hospital.

The child sex abuse accuser was arrested for misdemeanor battery.

The 29-year-old alleged victim said in a statement through his lawyer, "While it was on some level cathartic, my actions in court were not appropriate. I was overwhelmed by emotion at the hearing, which got the better of me."

"I was and am deeply troubled by the fact that Richard Gross received no prison time, but I do understand these things happen sometimes in criminal proceedings," he continued.

The victim alleged to have lived in a "mental prison for many years because of Richard Gross’s actions, and for him to receive no prison time is disheartening to me."

The accuser filed a lawsuit against Gross and his wife in 2021. The accuser is suing for assault and battery, false imprisonment, intentional infliction of emotional distress and negligence, and negligent supervision.

In the complaint, the accuser claimed that Gross sexually abused him from age eight to 15. He asserted that Gross sexually abused him at his home, in his pickup truck, and while on a camping trip while he was babysitting him.
