Dem House Candidate Used Funds Meant for Recovering Opioid Addicts To Transport Kids to an ‘LGBTQ+ Youth’ Center Offering ‘Medical Transition’ Seminars

Democratic House candidate Bob Harvie (Pa.), a county commissioner in Pennsylvania, oversees a local fund that distributes millions of dollars his county received as part of a settlement with opioid manufacturers. While the money is supposed to go toward "Prevention, Treatment and Recovery" services, Harvie used some of it to transport kids as young as 14 to an "LGBTQ-youth" center that offers "medical transition" seminars.

UPenn-backed 'Black Doctors Directory' gets reality check after legal challenge

A directory connecting prospective patients to doctors of only one race has been rolled back after a lawsuit.

The lawsuit came from legal activist group Do No Harm, which sued WURD Radio, a Philadelphia radio station that promotes "Black Talk Media."

According to legal documents, WURD controlled a black doctors' directory with the support of the University of Pennsylvania's Penn Medicine department, along with a group called the Consortium of DEI Health Educators.

'... connecting you with Black doctors across major hospitals.'

The radio station promoted the directory on Facebook last year as a resource to bridge "Health Gaps in Philadelphia."

The post stated, "WURD Radio launches the Black Doctors Directory, connecting you with Black doctors across major hospitals."

As of this week, the Philadelphia-area physicians' directory has rolled back its requirement that the doctors listed be of a certain race, while also changing its name.

"The Black Doctors Directory is now the Community Health and Wellness Directory. Ability to participate in the Community Health and Wellness Directory is not determined on the basis of race," Do No Harm wrote in a press release.

The lawsuit noted the directory will have to make more concessions as well.

The radio station agreed to "only publicize the directory under [the new name] or an equally race-neutral name," and must consider "any licensed physician in the greater Philadelphia area" when adding to the directory.

However, according to the offer of judgment, one caveat to consider was that the licensed physician would have to demonstrate a "commitment to treating patients and communities historically and currently underserved," but that cannot include inquiring about or considering the physician's race.

Since the conclusion of the lawsuit became public, PhillyBlackDoctors.com has been taken down, and WURD's page promoting the directory (as linked through its Facebook post) also no longer appears to be live.

The original webpage had promoted finding black doctors in Pennsylvania, Delaware, and New Jersey, while showcasing radio segments from WURD Radio that featured guests like the "Twin Sister Docs."

While the listenership for the radio segments is unknown, the online versions of the segments that were visible on the webpage garnered between eight and 32 plays.

"We are grateful that the directory is open to physicians of all races," said Stanley Goldfarb, M.D. and chairman of Do No Harm. "Do No Harm has long opposed 'racial concordance,' a thoroughly debunked theory that only breeds suspicion and prejudice."

Goldfarb added, "When medical providers prioritize expertise and high-quality care, patients will see better health outcomes."

Inside Philadelphia Public Libraries' 'Palestine Storytime' Events, Where Kids Are Taught To Make 'Protest Art' Promoting 'Palestinian Liberation'

Philadelphia’s public libraries have hosted, and plan to continue hosting, anti-Israel "storytime" events that teach children that Israel "senselessly murdered" thousands of kids in Gaza, depict a map in which Israel is entirely replaced with "Palestine," and create art projects promoting the "Palestinian liberation" movement.

'Quite Shocking to Us': Local Parents Fighting 'Cesspool' of Anti-Semitism in Philly Schools Say Josh Shapiro's Office Stopped Meeting With Them

Philadelphia’s public school system has become an "absolute cesspool" of anti-Semitism and anti-American hatred, according to local parents—who say Gov. Josh Shapiro (D.) has "completely ignored" their pleas for help. Since Hamas’s Oct. 7, 2023, attacks, Philadelphia school officials have publicly defended terrorism, called for the release of convicted cop killers, claimed Israel is an "apartheid theocracy," and denounced the United States as a "criminal Amerikan empire." The Philadelphia school district settled a federal discrimination case with the Department of Education last year after students allegedly taunted their Jewish classmates with Nazi salutes, swastika graffiti on doors, and threats to "kill the Jews." Frustrated parents told the Washington Free Beacon that they have tried to raise these issues with the governor but that his staff has done nothing in response and eventually stopped taking meetings with them.

Horrific video: Philly hit-and-run driver slams into old lady who's using cane to walk — then pins her against wall

Philadelphia police said they're investigating an incident that took place last weekend which left a 69-year-old woman hospitalized, WTXF-TV reported.

Police told the station that a driver struck a woman in the 1300 block of West Somerset Street around 2:30 p.m. Saturday.

Her condition is unknown, and no arrests have been made, WTXF said.

Steve Keeley of WTXF posted video of the assault on X, noting that the woman — who was using a cane to walk — was heading to a corner store and "got slammed against the store’s brick storefront."

Complicating matters is that, according to Keeley, police said the driver intentionally tried to run down a different woman following an altercation in a crosswalk.

Video shows the driver attempting to turn right, but the other woman in the crosswalk is close by the car, which plows past her instead of letting her cross. The angry second woman appears to make contact with the car, after which the driver backs up, turns, and drives at the second female — as well as the elderly woman with the cane, who is ahead and nearing the store's door.

In the end, the driver hit both women.

The woman who got angry in the crosswalk was sent off her feet and into the store's outer wall — but she quickly got up and began walking around.

The elderly woman with the cane wasn't as fortunate.

The driver hit her with the vehicle when she was inches from the store's entrance and then pinned her between the car and outer wall; when the driver reversed, the woman with the cane fell to the sidewalk.

WTXF said the striking vehicle — a silver KIA sedan — fled the scene eastbound on Somerset Street. The injured woman was taken to a hospital with unspecified injuries, WCAU-TV reported. Her condition is unknown, and no arrests have been made, WTXF said.

In a follow-up post, Keeley shared a second video from another angle, noting that the Kia has a smashed front end. The impact was so hard that the back end of the car shot upward.

Keeley also posted that pieces of the Kia were still all over the sidewalk Monday morning.

In another video, Keeley noted on X that the store owner told him a woman who said she's a relative of one of the victims entered the store after the hit-and-run and "began throwing items around, captured on the inside surveillance. She says the store may never reopen."

Law enforcement is hoping the video of the assault helps identify and catch the suspect, who remains at-large, WCAU reported.

The identities of the two women involved have not been released, WCAU added.

Tips can be submitted to the Philadelphia Police Department by calling 215-686-TIPS (8477) or by filling out a form online here, the station said.

Pregnant woman allegedly struck in head several times, slammed into wall over seating — at kindergarten graduation: Cops

One would be inclined to consider a kindergarten graduation ceremony a joyful and fun occasion — the polar opposite of dangerous, in fact.

But in Philadelphia on Monday, one such ceremony at John Wister Elementary Mastery Charter School in the city's Germantown neighborhood was anything but.

'There was a carjacking in the neighborhood for which police were called separately.'

Police responded to the charter school after 10:15 a.m. over a disturbance involving seating arrangements between two parents, WPVI-TV reported.

Police told the station one of the parents allegedly struck the other parent — a 31-year-old pregnant woman — in the head several times and slammed her into a wall.

Witnesses told WPVI they saw the victim bleeding.

Medical personnel took the pregnant woman in an ambulance to a hospital where she was treated for her injuries, the station said, citing police.

Police said the attacker — a female wearing a gray hoodie and black pants — took off from the scene and hadn't been arrested, WPVI reported.

However, WTXF-TV reported that a letter from the principal was sent to the school community about "an altercation between two of our parents" that indicated police "arrived quickly to remove the parents from the scene. Contrary to online rumors, the only injuries were between the two parents involved, and no weapons were drawn or involved in the incident."

In addition, the letter added that "there was a carjacking in the neighborhood for which police were called separately. This incident did not involve anyone in the Wister community, and the suspect was apprehended."

Blaze News on Tuesday spoke to an employee of a business near the school who said the incident didn't faze him because such violence "happens quite a bit." The employee added to Blaze News that "there are some really rough areas in Germantown" and that the neighborhood his business shares with the school is "semi-rough but getting better" — however, it's "not somewhere I'd send my kids to school."

WPVI said Northwest Detectives are heading up an investigation into the matter and that those with information should contact them at 215-685-3353.

WPVI's video report Monday evening indicated that the school wouldn't make any other statements about the incident and that the victim — according to her family — was still hospitalized.

Police on Tuesday didn't immediately respond to Blaze News' inquiries regarding if the the female parent accused of carrying out the attack had been arrested or identified, if there was any word on the condition of the pregnant victim, or if there is video of the attack.
