Virginia home explodes as police approach trigger-happy resident with search warrant

Police attempted to execute a search warrant Monday at a duplex in a Washington, D.C., suburb wherein a man was said to be barricaded and firing off a flare gun into the surrounding neighborhood. However, before officers could make entry, an explosion blew the structure sky-high.

According the Arlington County Police Department, officers were dispatched to the 800 block of N. Burlington Street in Bluemont around 4:45 p.m. on Monday in response to a report of possible shots fired.

On the scene, officers learned that the suspect had allegedly fired a flare gun into the surrounding neighborhood an estimated 30-40 times. Fortunately, no one was injured and no property was damaged as a result of the discharge of the flare gun.

Police soon obtained a search warrant for the suspect's home. Before approaching, officers attempted to communicate with the suspect by phone and over loudspeakers. However, police indicated the suspect failed to respond and "remained barricaded inside the residence."

After failing to get through to the suspect, police prepared to execute the search warrant and make entry. However, when they initially attempted to do so, the suspect allegedly opened fire, this time with what was suspected to be a gun.

Alex Wilson, a neighbor who filmed the incident from his rooftop, told WTTG-TV the barricaded resident shot at police with what appeared to be a high-caliber weapon.

"Three hours later, at least, we saw the SWAT truck arrive, and when the SWAT trucks arrive, you know, you're like, 'Oh, things are getting escalated at that point,'" said Wilson.

Police reportedly continued to urge the suspect inside to come outside, but their implorations proved fruitless.

"The guy inside wasn't responding, and they drove a SWAT truck through the front door and then shots were being fired," said Watson.

The initial attempts to breach the front were ineffective, so the tactical team reoriented the vehicle and attempted to burst through the window.

"As the SWAT team were driving forward to the window, that's when the whole place went up," added Wilson.

At 8:25 p.m., the house exploded, injuring three officers. None of the officers required treatment at a hospital.

Footage of the incident shows fire belch from the side of the two-story brick duplex, a cloud of debris punch out the front of the structure, then the roof and much of the interior thrown hundreds of feet into the air. Car alarms ring out while flaming debris rains down into a plume of smoke.

Carla Rodriguez of South Arlington indicated she could hear the blast over two miles away, reported the Associated Press.

"I actually thought a plane exploded," said Rodriguez.

Blake Thompson, another nearby resident, told WTTG, "I thought it was a sonic boom at first, but I looked out of my window and I saw burning stuff in the sky, in a sense. It looked like ash, but of course, it was much farther away so it was probably debris."

The house next door was reportedly all but demolished in the explosion. Power was also knocked out to multiple homes in the neighborhood.

The Arlington County Fire Department responded to the scene to put out the inferno and were able to tame it around 10:30 p.m.

— (@)

Capt. Nate Hiner, a spokesman for the ACFD, noted that it is not yet clear what caused the explosion. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and other federal agents have joined the investigation.

While the suspect has not yet been identified by police, WTTG and local news website ARLnow.com both indicated that public records suggest a man named James W. Yoo is linked to the residence. Yoo's LinkedIn page, which was deleted overnight, indicates he was previously a landlord who also worked in telecommunications and security.

It's not clear whether Woo was in the house at the time of the explosion or involved in the incident.

Yoo's YouTube channel details various legal complaints he has apparently filed in recent years. Documents shared in a number of the videos indicated his address was 844 N. Burlington Street.

In a Nov. 3 video, Woo shared images of his correspondence with various attorneys and federal officials regarding his complaint alleging Rochester General Hospital illegally held him for five days against his will. The letter indicates those who allegedly detained him did so citing a state law enabling a temporary hold of a mentally compromised individual who is at risk of doing harm to himself or others.

Apparently convinced LinkedIn was suppressing his content — including Woo's suggestion that his supposed poor treatment by the police and government was "how White people operate" — Woo shared videos of various now-deleted posts, including criticism of former President Donald Trump, California Gov. Gavin Newsom, and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis.

The "About" section on his YouTube page states, "I gave THEM / Y'ALL every opportunity to 'do the right thing' and all I see is America's hypocrisy, corruption, fraud, conspiracy, CHICKENSHAT. ... #NoneOfTheAbovePARTY #MontyBrewsterish 'U.S. is the world's biggest TERRORIST' (N.Chomsky, ~2015)."

"This guy has been cooped up for years," Wilson said. "He's closed off his windows, no one has really seen him for years."

Ashley Savage, spokeswoman for the ACPD, told the New York Times, "We have not been able to access the home at this point, so I don't have the status of the suspect."

Rep. Don Beyer (D-Va.) wrote on X, "This is very, very scary, and my profound thanks go out to first responders working to secure the area and keep everyone safe."

Armed thug hunts police officer in 'ambush-style attack' — but the assailant is dead after the officer gets the last word

A Houston police sergeant was nearly assassinated early Saturday morning when a man, wanted for other serious crimes, attacked the police officer in an "ambush-style attack."

Houston Police Department Chief Troy Finner said the sergeant, identified as 17-year-veteran Mauricio Valle, and two other officers were canvassing an area in southwest Houston for a man suspected of committing multiple burglaries, an aggravated assault, and possibly an aggravated robbery.

At some point during the search, Sgt. Valle parked his car near a strip mall, according to KHOU-TV. That's when the suspect approached Valle's vehicle from the passenger side and opened fire, hitting the officer multiple times. But the attack failed to accomplish its goal.

Instead, Sgt. Valle returned fire, striking the suspect several times. In the end, it was the suspect who lay dead on the ground.

"Officers who responded and rendered aid put tourniquets on our sergeant, and each and every one of them in my conversations with them was talking about how calm and professional and what a stud our sergeant is," Finner said at a press conference. "Just really calm after being shot, giving out commands about where the suspect is."

Despite his injuries, Sgt. Valle is expected to make a full recovery. Finner said the officer's ballistic vest, which was hit, saved Valle's life.

"[He's] one of our top notch guys. Thank God he’s going to be OK. [He] sustained multiple shots to his arms and legs, and his ballistic vest took on one shot. But, he’s in with the best doctors in the world, and they’re taking care of him," the chief said.

Police did not release the name of the assailant, but they did say he was a Hispanic man in his early 20s. Police also arrested a woman who was with the man but did not say if she was charged with any crimes.

Bone-chilling video shows Florida man 'intentionally ambush' deputies by mowing cops down with car

An unsettling video shows the moment that a Florida man mowed down two deputies in an alleged "ambush" attack, according to police. The cops were critically injured, and one officer may need to have his leg amputated.

The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office stated that officers responded to a 911 call from a mother who said she was in fear of her son being violent. The mother allegedly told police that her son, Ralph Bouzy, was suffering from a mental health crisis.

Shortly before 8 a.m. on Thursday, officers arrived at the residence in Brandon, Florida. Deputies encountered Bouzy in the driver's seat of a car in the driveway of his home, according to a news release from the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office. Officers reportedly assured the 28-year-old Florida man that they were there to help. However, Bouzy refused to speak to the police and quickly drove away.

Bouzy drove back to the scene just minutes later in a Nissan Altima. Two deputies were standing beside a police SUV, and video shows Bouzy barrel into the deputies – pinning them to the patrol vehicle.

As the deputies were strewn on the pavement after suffering excruciating injuries, Bouzy calmly got out of his vehicle and walked toward another officer who was not hit by the vehicle. Police bodycam video shows Bouzy refusing to adhere to commands from the officers.

Police bodycam footage shows a deputy deploy a Taser on Bouzy, which causes him to fall to the pavement. Another officer apprehended the suspect while he was on the ground.

Bouzy was arrested and charged with three counts of attempted murder on a law enforcement officer.

Law enforcement noted that Bouzy has an extensive criminal history, with three felonies and 14 misdemeanors. In 2017, Bouzy was involved in a hit-and-run in which he punched a deputy in the face, according to WFLA.

"There is no other way to describe this other than an ambush," said Sheriff Chad Chronister. "Our deputies put their lives on the line every day to protect this community and what happened today makes me absolutely sick."

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis said that he and his wife, Casey, are "praying for the deputies who were seriously injured during this ambush in Brandon."

"We don’t tolerate attacks on our law enforcement officers in Florida," DeSantis declared. "The coward who brutally attacked these deputies will be punished."

Corporal Carlos Brito, 39, and Deputy Manuel Santos, 31, suffered critical injuries and are receiving medical treatment at Tampa General Hospital.

Santos has a bilateral break in his leg with extensive ligament damage that will require surgery.

Brito’s injuries are so severe that his leg might have to be amputated. Brito's leg was crushed in between the two vehicles to the point that a piece of his femur bone was stuck in the car. A surgeon requested that the bone be dislodged from the vehicle and brought to the hospital to help save his leg.

Chronister said, "Deputy Brito is awake and surrounded by his family. The surgeons are monitoring his progress and continue to do everything possible to save his leg.”

"Corporal Brito and Deputy Santos came to work today committed to making a difference in their community," Chronister added. "Because of this man's deliberate and intentional actions, their lives, and their family's lives are changed forever."

Two Connecticut police officers killed, one wounded in suspected ambush shooting

Two police officers were shot and killed and a third was injured Wednesday in what is reported to be an ambush attack.

The officers were shot while responding to a domestic violence call at a residence in Bristol, Connecticut, state police said.

Bristol Police Chief Brian Gould identified the slain officers as Sgt. Dustin DeMonte, 35, and Officer Alex Hamzy, 34. The third officer, Alex Iurato, 26, was taken to the hospital for surgery and is recovering, WTNH-TV reported.

Police said the officers responded to a domestic violence call involving two siblings Wednesday night. When they arrived, they were met by a man outside the home.

“Shots were fired, fatally wounding one officer on scene,” state police Sgt. Christine Jelteman said at a news conference Thursday.

The two other officers were hit by gunfire, Jelteman said. One died at the hospital and the other was seriously wounded and treated for his injuries.

The suspected gunman, Nicholas Brutcher, was also fatally shot, and his brother was shot and wounded, Jelteman said. Police believe the 911 call was meant to lure officers to the scene for an ambush.

ABC News reported that the gunman used an AR-15-style rifle.

"Our community has been rocked," Gould told reporters.

DeMonte "was assigned to our patrol division and was a school resource officer," the police chief said. "He was also an adviser for the Bristol police explorer cadet program. Throughout his career he has received several awards, including the Silver Star, officer of the month and co-recipient for Officer of the Year in 2019."

He is survived by his wife and two children, with a third on the way, Gould said.

Hamzy, who grew up in Bristol, is survived by his wife, the chief said.

Iurato was released from a Hartford hospital Thursday morning and was greeted by fellow police officers and applause.

Connecticut Gov. Ned Lamont (D) ordered flags in the state to be lowered to half-staff in honor of the officers.

"I am directing flags in Connecticut lowered to half-staff effective immediately in honor of two Bristol Police officers who were killed in the line of duty late last night while responding to an emergency call of domestic violence at a private residence in town," Lamont said in a statement.

"This is a senseless tragedy, and my prayers are with their families, loved ones, and fellow officers. I also ask the residents of CT to keep in their prayers a third officer who was shot and is currently in the hospital with serious injures," the governor added.

"This is a devastating reminder of the dangers that police officers face every day to protect our families and neighbors from all kinds of situations. These officers are heroes and will always be remembered for the honorable service they provided to their town and state. This continues to be an active situation, and I’ve directed DESPP Commissioner James Rovella and the CT State Police to support Bristol police and the greater community in every way they can."

Two Georgia deputies slain in ambush attack, sheriff asks for prayers

Two deputies with the Cobb County sheriff's office in Georgia were killed Thursday night in what police are calling an ambush shooting.

Sheriff Craig D. Owens told reporters the deputies were serving a warrant when they were ambushed, WSB-TV reported.

Two suspects were taken into custody after a nearly four-hour standoff with police. Cobb County court officials identified the suspects as Christopher Cook and Christopher Golden. They will make their first appearance in court at 4 p.m. on Friday.

The names of the murdered deputies have not been released.

“What I can tell you in this moment is this -- in plain terms it is simple, my two deputies were ambushed this evening and killed,” Owens said Thursday. “The two suspects we believe are the perpetrators of this crime are currently in custody and are being held at the Cobb County Police Department for questioning.”

Shortly after 7:45 p.m. Thursday, Cobb County deputies visited a home in an area west of Marietta to serve a warrant for failure to appear by theft or deception, Owens said.

"From my understanding, the deputies had made an attempt at the home, knocked on the door, rang the doorbell, (and) no one came to the (door)," Owens told reporters. "As they were getting back to their car, the vehicle drove up, and they assumed it was the suspect who lived there, and as they got back to the car — as he got into his car — shots were fired."

Owens said one person opened fire from inside the house and another from a nearby car. The deputies were able to alert police dispatchers to the shooting and call for backup, he recounted.

At 9 p.m., the Cobb County Sheriff's Office reported the deputies had died from their injuries and that SWAT and FAST teams had arrived to confront the suspected shooter.

The suspects were taken into custody around 12:15 a.m., according to WSB.

“Two @CobbSheriff deputies died tonight in the line of duty while serving a warrant. SWAT and FAST teams are at the scene. The suspect is barricaded.

We will release additional information, including the names of the fallen deputies, as it becomes available.”
— Cobb County Sheriff’s Office (@Cobb County Sheriff’s Office) 1662685147

The two deputies had been with the sheriff's office for more than five years, Owens said.

“Two wives have lost their amazing husbands,” Owens said. “Pray for us because we need it. Our hearts are broken here in Cobb County.”

A neighborhood woman told WSB the community is shocked by the loss of the two officers. She said that neighbors were able to follow the situation on social media as it unfolded and provided snacks and drinks for the investigators.

“We are all heartbroken, so somber here in the neighborhood because they were here, the (officers) were here to protect us and they were doing their job,” Kristen Holloway said. “And we are heartbroken for the families.”

Two California police officers slain after responding to stabbing report, officials say

Two California police officers were killed Tuesday night after responding to a report of a stabbing in the Los Angeles area, officials said.

The officers were fatally shot at around 5:10 p.m. local time after responding to a call at a motel, Capt. Andrew Meyer of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department said at a press conference Tuesday evening. He confirmed that officers confronted a suspect in a motel room and fired their weapons, and the suspect fled the room into a parking lot, where the officers fired again, the Los Angels Times reported.

Two officers and the suspect were hit by gunfire during the exchange, Meyer said. The officers were transported by ambulance to a local hospital but died of their injuries. The suspect was pronounced dead at the scene, authorities said.

One of the officers was a 22-year veteran of the El Monte Police Department, according to KTLA-TV. The other had been with the police force for less than a year.

The names of the slain officers have not yet been released.

Police have not released specific details of the shooting because an investigation of the facts is ongoing.

The mayor of El Monte did say that the officers were "essentially ambushed," but Meyer did not provide more information.

"We don't have all the facts yet," he said.

The city of El Monte said in a statement it is "saddened and shocked" by the violent deaths of the officers.

“There are no words to describe our grief and devastation by this senseless act as we learned about the passing of two of our police officers. It weighs heavy on our hearts and we are sending our support to their families. We would also like to thank the El Monte community and our surrounding government agencies for the outpouring support we have received in the last few hours,” the City of El Monte and the El Monte Police Department said in a joint statement.

El Monte police captain Ben Lowry, the acting chief of the police department, told reporters Tuesday the officers were "heroes" who made the "ultimate sacrifice."

“These two men were loved. They were good men. They paid the ultimate sacrifice serving their community, trying to help somebody. … They were murdered by a coward,” Lowry said.

The fallen officers were honored by a procession of law enforcement vehicles on Interstate 10, which traveled from El Monte to the Los Angeles County+USC Medical Center, where the officers were pronounced dead. Flowers and candles have been placed outside the El Monte Police Department as a memorial to them.

FBI Director Wray reveals shocking surge of cop killings in 2021

FBI Director Christopher Wray says that cop killings in the U.S. skyrocketed last year, telling CBS News that violence against law enforcement is not receiving enough attention.

In an interview on "60 Minutes" Sunday evening, Wray revealed there was a 59% increase in the murders of police officers in 2021, with 73 officers killed. That disturbing statistic follows a 29% increase in murders in the United States in 2020, with nearly 5,000 more people killed than in the year before.

CBS News' Scott Pelley asked what caused the surge of homicides.

"Certainly the pandemic didn't help. There's a variety of ways in which that contributed to it," Wray said.

"We're seeing more and more juveniles committing violent crime, and that's certainly an issue. We're seeing a certain amount of gun trafficking, interstate gun trafficking. That's part of it. And we're seeing an alarming frequency of some of the worst of the worst getting back out on the streets," he added.

The FBI director shared that last year, police officers "were being killed at a rate of almost one every five days."

"Violence against law enforcement in this country is one of the biggest phenomena that I think doesn't get enough attention," he said.

Wray indicated that an "alarming" number of murdered officers appear to have been intentionally targeted and were either ambushed or shot while out on patrol.

"They were killed because they were police officers," Pelley said.

"Right. Wearing the badge shouldn't make you a target," Wray replied.

This trend of violence against police officers appears to be continuing in 2022. Earlier this month, the National Fraternal Order of Police reported that as of April 1, there have already been 101 officers shot this year and 17 officers killed by gunfire. The police union said there have been 19 ambush-style attacks on law enforcement officers this year, a 36% increase from the same period in 2021.

NEW REPORT: These historic numbers are horrific and are an absolute stain on our society. When the vast majority of media elites decide that this issue isn’t worth covering, it speaks volumes as to where our society is heading.

ENOUGH IS ENOUGH

Report: https://fop.net/2022/04/fop-monthly-update-officers-shot-and-killed-9/ …pic.twitter.com/mhc1hpvJEO

"These historic numbers are horrific and are an absolute stain on our society," the union said. "When the vast majority of media elites decide that this issue isn’t worth covering, it speaks volumes as to where our society is heading."

Wray said that the FBI is working with local law enforcement and deploying task forces in "specific hot spots" to combat violent crime.

"Last year I think we arrested something like 15,000 violent gang members around the country. And part of what fuels us to pursue this mission is our deep conviction that law enforcement's most sacred duty is to ensure that people can live free from fear in their own homes and neighborhoods," he said.

Louisiana police officer claimed he was shot during ambush. Authorities arrest him for reportedly faking the attack, say he shot himself.

A Louisiana police officer was arrested after he reportedly claimed to be the victim of an ambush that reportedly took place earlier in September.

A spokesperson for the Pineville Police Department says that the officer, 25-year-old John Michael Goulart Jr., actually shot himself in the leg during the alleged "attack."

What did the officer say happened?

In initial reports, Goulart Jr. said that he came under attack as he exited his patrol vehicle at a Pineville shopping center on Sept. 20.

He said that he was struck once in the leg and a second round hit the rear door of his patrol vehicle.

Pineville Police Department Public Information Officer Deputy Chief Darrell Basco initially told KALB-TV, "There were shots fired at the officer. The officer didn't return fire on anybody. He was exiting the patrol vehicle at the shopping center whenever he was ambushed by an unknown person at this time and two shots were fired. One striking him, and the other hit the vehicle."

Following the initial report, the Pineville community rallied around the injured officer.

Goulart joined the department in 2018, according to a Facebook post.

What really happened?

Investigators said that Goulart Jr. shot himself, hid his service weapon, and lied about what had actually taken place.

"Everything shows it was an accidental discharge," Basco said according to CNN.

"The investigation of a Pineville Police Department officer being shot on Sunday night is closed," Basco said in a later statement. "The investigation led to a determination that the officer shot himself, concealed, and altered the facts."

Of the investigation, Don Weatherford, Pineville's police chief, added, "We had no reason originally to question what he was telling us was accurate. As it progressed, that evidence gives you some pretty clear direction and it led us to re-interviewing Officer Goulart Jr. and he admitted that at that point he had not been truthful with us during the investigation."

Clarence Fields, the mayor of Pineville, said he believed Goulart Jr. was a "very good police officer."

Fields added that the purportedly faked attack, however, was "unfortunate," considering "everything going on in America relative to relationships between police and the community."

"They are mindful that they will probably be looked at very differently and receive some criticism," Fields said of the department.

So what happened then?

Authorities arrested Goulart Jr. on Tuesday on charges of malfeasance in office and criminal mischief and placed him on administrative leave.

Goulart Jr. was released on a $10,500 bond.

Candace Owens shreds 'pea-brained' LeBron James, BLM for ambush on LA sheriffs: 'The racist, anti-police, black lives matter LIE is to blame'

Conservative commentator Candace Owens tore into NBA player LeBron James for his support of the Black Lives Matter movement's rhetoric following the horrific ambush on two deputies in Los Angeles on Saturday evening.

What's a very brief history here?

Two sheriff's deputies were shot in an unprovoked attack as they sat in a police cruiser on a Los Angeles street, according to authorities.

Both were "severely wounded" during the incident, and taken to a nearby hospital for emergency surgery.

As they arrived, Black Lives Matter activists reportedly converged on the facility, blocking entrances, demanding the officers be left to die from their grievous injuries.

Several protesters were arrested during the fracas.

What are the details?

Referring to the weekend's attack on the sheriffs, Owens on Sunday said that James — who once insisted that black men are "literally hunted" every time they leave their homes — is complicit in antagonizing anti-cop activists.

Owens — author of "Blackout: How Black America Can Make Its Second Escape from the Democratic Plantation" — asked, "Why does this happen? Because pea-brained celebrities that are idolized like @KingJames tell young black men that they are 'literally being hunted.' This is the natural result of such hyperbolic, dishonest rhetoric."

"The racist, anti-police, black lives matter LIE is to blame," she insisted.

The conservative commentator later wrote, "Why else does this happen? Because when pea-brained athletes put the name of an alleged RAPIST on their helmets and jerseys, criminals begin believing they are acting as heroes."

"BLACK LIVES MATTER AND THE COMPLICIT MEDIA ORGANIZATIONS, ATHLETES, AND ENTERTAINERS ARE TO BLAME," she added.

What else?

Later on Sunday, Owens spoke to Mark Levin during an appearance on Fox's "Life, Liberty, & Levin," where she said James's apparent outrage over white privilege and racism was overblown and misplaced.

"He's got a white gardener, a white chef, all various white people that work for him, white driver," she said. "So if that's racism, LeBron, please, please share some of that with the rest of us."

The conservative also said that many celebrities privately correspond with her, and allegedly admit to being closeted conservatives who live in fear of losing their affluent positions in Hollywood.

"If I opened my inbox and showed you the amount of celebrities that have written to me privately, that silent majority that we're always talking about, they've written to me and said, 'I'm finally starting to see the truth. I can't stand being in Hollywood. I'm not allowed to use my voice to say what I actually believe," Owens told Levin.

She added, "These are the same celebrities that are actually posting the black squares on Instagram and saying 'We must care about black lives.' And they're saying they're doing it basically under duress because if they don't, they'll lose their entire careers."

Owens also promised that there is a cultural and political awakening taking place across the U.S. for the better.

"There is something shaking and something happening in this country, and more and more people are awake and alive to what is really at risk, which is really the values and the principles that this country was built upon," she insisted.

'Y'all gonna die one by one': BLM activists storm hospital where ambushed officers taken, block exits

After two Los Angeles Sheriff's deputies sustained multiple gunshot wounds upon being ambushed while sitting in their patrol vehicle on Saturday, alleged Black Lives Matters protesters stormed the hospital where the officers were transported to for emergency surgery.

According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Office, protesters attempted to block the entrance and exit of the hospital. Protesters also shouted that they hoped the injured officers died.

"To the protesters blocking the entrance & exit of the HOSPITAL EMERGENCY ROOM yelling 'We hope they die' referring to 2 LA Sheriff's ambushed today in #Compton: DO NOT BLOCK EMERGENCY ENTRIES & EXITS TO THE HOSPITAL. People's lives are at stake when ambulances can't get through," the agency said.

Video taken from outside the hospital showed one protester tell law enforcement officers standing guard outside the hospital, "I hope they f***ing die," referring to the injured officers.

Other video taken from outside the hospital showed the alleged BLM activists berate the officers who guarded the hospital's perimeter.

The activists told the officers, "you're next" and "y'all gonna die one by one."

"Y'all ain't s***. F*** that b***h," one activist is heard saying.

One witness told KABC-TV that he heard the protesters say "death to the police" and "kill the police."

That same witness also told the news outlet that he saw the protesters attempt to breach the hospital.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Office said police arrested two individuals, including one member of the press.

After deputies issued a dispersal order for the unlawful assembly of a group of protesters blocking the hospital emergency entrance & exits, a male adult protester refused to comply & cooperate. During his arrest, a struggle ensued at which time a female adult ran towards the deputies, ignored repeated commands to stay back as they struggled with the male and interfered with the arrest. The female adult, who was later identified as a member of the press, did not identify herself as press and later admitted she did not have proper press credentials on her person. Both individuals have been arrested for 148 P.C.

Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti, a Democrat, responded by condemning the protesters.

"There's no place in civilized society for anybody to draw an arm and to shoot our law enforcement officers that put their lives on the line. And I won't ever let a couple voices that not only are uncalled for, but it's abhorrent to say something like that when we have two deputies in grave condition," Garcetti said Sunday on CNN.
