Stunning and brave: Pregnant man on UK Glamour magazine

U.K. Glamour magazine wants its readers to know that transgender men can in fact get pregnant.

The cover of the magazine's latest U.K. issue features Logan Brown, a transgender man, with one hand lovingly holding a very pregnant belly.

Next to Brown is a headline that reads “Trans Pregnant Proud.”

The magazine finds Brown’s pregnancy remarkable enough to put on the front cover, despite the unignorable fact that she is a biological female with a uterus and a womb.

“It’s not the fact that this trans person is actually a woman and still has women parts,” Pat Gray comments, adding, “like, I mean a womb, for instance.”

“So, the baby is growing in a womb,” he continues.

According to the Glamour interview, Brown is pregnant by her partner Bailey J. Mills, who is a “legendary” non-binary drag performer.

Brown claimed in the interview that she is “living proof of a pregnant, transgender man.”

“I do exist, no matter what anyone says,” said the transgender male.

“Well, of course, because you’re a woman. That’s why you’re pregnant. If you weren’t a woman and you were an actual man you wouldn’t be pregnant,” Gray says in response.

Brown is also currently working on a children’s book called “In My Daddy’s Belly: The Miracle of Male Birth.”

According to the book’s publisher, Bigger Picture Books, the story is “wholesome,” “written in a way that is accessible to children of all ages,” and “gives some basic facts about transgender Dads giving birth.”

Gray is not having it.

“Can we stop, seriously? Can we just stop and get back to reality? Will that ever happen? Will the pendulum swing back and we’ll actually say, ‘No, okay, you know what, you’re not really a man. Stop pretending that you’re a man.’”

Preschool teacher resigns after report about LBGTQ-themed flashcards — one apparently depicting pregnant man — used to instruct students

On the heels of a report that a North Carolina preschool teacher used LGBTQ-themed flashcards to instruct students — one card apparently shows a pregnant man — the teacher has resigned, WTVD-TV reported.

What are the details?

The flashcards — apparently used to teach colors to students — reportedly were found in a preschool classroom at Ballentine Elementary School in Fuquay-Varina, the station said.

Wake County School District said in a statement that it's "concerned to learn of the inappropriate instructional resource found in a preschool classroom," WTVD said, adding that the statement also said the flashcards weren't tied to the district's curriculum and were removed.

The station added that the name of the teacher who resigned isn't known, but the classroom serves students with special needs.

Republican State Rep. Erin Paré told WTVD a constituent witnessed the flashcards being used with kindergarteners and that a stack was found in a preschool classroom drawer.

"I am grateful that a concerned constituent reached out and that this issue is being addressed in a swift and professional manner by Ballentine Elementary School," Paré said in a release, according to the station. "Schools should only be using age-appropriate materials, and these flashcards clearly do not meet that standard for a pre-school classroom. I hope schools across Wake County and the State of North Carolina will follow the example of Ballentine and respond swiftly when a parent expresses concern and ensure that materials like this are not being used to teach young students."

Paré added to WTVD that "parents should have the ability to be engaged and collaborate with teachers. I'm not just a legislator; I'm the parent of two Wake County students in public school."

Parent pushes back

One parent who has a 3-year-old son in the class told the station Tuesday she's upset about losing the teacher.

"It's so important for all of our kids, but especially these kids, to know that it's OK to look different, to act different, and for these students — whatever their family dynamic is, whatever they look like — [that] they're represented in the classroom," Jackie Milazzo noted to WTVD.

Milazzo added to the station that she got a message from the principal about inappropriate teaching material.

She also told WTVD she didn't think much of it and talked to the teacher, who said the images were used on a bulletin board along with different images of families in the student art center.

"Our kids are being used as a publicity stunt. We are not upset about what's in the classroom," Milazzo added to the station. "I know a lot of the community at Ballentine Elementary aren't upset about this being in the classroom."

She also told WTVD that "a picture of a same-sex couple does not make my child unsafe. I've been receiving messages that our teachers are groomers, [that] my child is being brainwashed ... how am I supposed to feel safe sending my child to school like this? These actions are not supporting our schools, they're not supporting our teachers, they're not supporting our kids, my child has now lost his teacher."

Anything else?

Paré added to the station that "we have to think about the age-appropriateness of some education tools, and that's what we have to be talking about here. They can look at a picture of a mother hugging a male — [who] appears to be a male — with what appears to be a baby in their belly, and I think that's how a 4 year old would interpret that picture."

The state representative added to WTVD that such an image is "confusing" to students: "That's a sentiment shared not just by folks in southern Wake County but by parents across the state. This educational tool was age-inappropriate for these pre-schoolers, and that's just not me telling you that — that's the school district telling you that, that's the principal telling you, and that's a shared conclusion among all reasonable people in this."

Preschool uses flashcards depicting pregnant man to teach children about colors: Report

A North Carolina preschool teacher reportedly used LGBTQ+ flashcards to teach children about colors, Fox News has reported. One of the cards, according to the report, included a photo of a pregnant man.

What are the details?

North Carolina Speaker of the House Tim Moore (R) published the findings on his website, where he wrote that the flashcards appeared at Ballentine Elementary School in Wake County, North Carolina.

Republican State Rep. Erin Paré — who said she received a photo of the flashcards from one of her constituents — blasted the move, and said that public schools should only be using "age-appropriate materials."

"[T]hese flashcards clearly do not meet that standard for a pre-school classroom," Paré insisted.

According to the report, Paré reached out to the school to determine the photos' authenticity and learned that the principal would take "swift action" in investigating their origin. Upon investigation, Moore's website pointed out, the administrator located the flashcards inside the unnamed teacher's classroom.

"The principal confirmed that the flashcards were not part of approved curriculum and that she was unaware that they were being used," Moore's website added. "The principal immediately took possession of the cards, contacted the WCPSS area superintendent, and engaged human resources. The principal expressed appreciation for the constituent’s information via Rep. Paré, as she would not have known about the flashcards otherwise."

What else?

In a further statement on the incident, Paré said, “I am grateful that a concerned constituent reached out and that this issue is being addressed in a swift and professional manner by Ballentine Elementary School."

“Schools should only be using age-appropriate materials, and these flashcards clearly do not meet that standard for a pre-school classroom. I hope schools across Wake County and the State of North Carolina will follow the example of Ballentine and respond swiftly when a parent expresses concern and ensure that materials like this are not being used to teach young students," she added.

Hospitals now asking men if they are pregnant before beginning cancer treatment: Report

Hospitals are now reportedly asking men if they are pregnant before they are administered any cancer diagnostic tests that may damage a growing fetus.

What are the details?

A Monday report from the Daily Mail revealed that cancer patients having radiological procedures — including X-rays and MRI scans — are being asked whether they are pregnant even if they are not women "because the word 'female' has been replaced by 'individuals' for medical procedures."

The report cited Liverpool's Walton Center NHS Trust, which now reportedly asks "all patients under the age of 60, regardless of how you may identify your gender" whether they could potentially be pregnant.

"It is understood to be one of a handful of trusts to have expanded the questioning despite it not being a national policy at NHS England," the outlet added.

As a result, the outlet reported that "patients and their families have ... complained of 'unnecessary confusion and agitation' for vulnerable patients" who are bewildered by the question.

A spokesman for the Walton trust said in a statement that its policy "adheres to national legislation, as certain amounts of radiation can be harmful to fetuses in utero."

According to the U.K.'s Telegraph, "The Department of Health updated the regulations regarding the procedures in 2017 and changed the wording surrounding those who should be questioned from 'females of childbearing age' to 'individuals of childbearing potential.'"

"Campaigners warned on Monday that the policy was part of a 'clinically dangerous' practice to record gender and not sex on medical records," the report continued. "They pointed out that those born male cannot get pregnant."

The Walton Center NHS Foundation Trust told the outlet, "Our policy relating to asking patients if they are pregnant before undergoing procedures involving ionizing radiation and MRI adheres to national legislation, as certain amounts of radiation can be harmful to fetuses in utero. We believe asking all people who are having their abdomen imaged/scanned in this way, regardless of gender, is the least intrusive way of ensuring it is safe to proceed.”

Anything else to know?

Kat Barber, with campaign group Sex Not Gender Nurses and Midwives, said, “This is an example of why we need both sex and gender clearly recorded for patients. We do not need to ask all patients if they are pregnant. We need to ask females, hence why it is important to know if the person we are providing care for is female whilst also respecting their gender identity.”

Apple introduces a pregnant man emoji — and waves of mockery on social media follow

A pregnant man emoji is coming in the latest iteration of Apple's iOS update, according to a Friday report from Fox Business.

What are the details?

A pregnant man and a pregnant person are just two new emojis coming to the Apple iPhone's iOS 15.4 update.

The report added that the emoji was released in a voluntary update on Thursday as part of a beta release and noted that the full update will come hell or high water later this year.

The Unicode Consortium, a nonprofit organization that oversees emoji standards, originally selected the designs in September, People reported.

Emojipedia, an emoji reference website, shared the designs to the internet in September when the company first announced the forthcoming pregnant man and pregnant person emojis.

At the time, the company said that the new emojis "may be used for representation by trans men, non-binary people, or women with short hair — though, of course, use of these emoji is not limited to these groups."

A spokesperson for the company added that the new emojis can also be "tongue-in-cheek way to display a food baby, a very full stomach caused by eating a large meal."

Describing the pregnant man and pregnant person emojis, Emojipedia in July wrote that the company recognizes that "pregnancy is possible for some transgender men and non-binary people" and would be "additions to the existing pregnant woman emoji."

What has been the response to this?

Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-Colo.) tweeted about the news, writing, "The same week the Left is begging to cancel @JoeRogan for 'misinformation,' @Apple creates a pregnant man emoji. I just can't."

Radio host Jason Rantz added, "Men can't get pregnant. This isn't a controversial take to 99% of the globe. Even emojis have to be woke now and it's an intentional way to shift public thinking and legitimize an absurd political agenda."

'Pregnant Man' emoji could be hitting your screen soon — since 'pregnancy is possible for some transgender men'

Among the finalists for the next official batch of emojis — those digital icons that visually express emotions and other aspects of life — is a "Pregnant Man," the Emojipedia blog announced Thursday.

Here's a look at the emoji candidates for Emoji 14.0. "Pregnant Man" along with "Pregnant Person" can be seen in the middle of the second image below:

Emoji 14.0 is to be finalized in September 2021. Here's on the latest draft list https://t.co/IAahiILGA0 https://t.co/1GPyHxZnWu

— Emojipedia 📅 (@Emojipedia) 1626343045.0

What are the details?

Describing the Pregnant Man and Pregnant Person emoji candidates, emojipedia wrote that they "recognize that pregnancy is possible for some transgender men and non-binary people" and would be "additions to the existing Pregnant Woman emoji."

The organization said there's only a draft emoji list at this point, and each emoji is subject to change prior to final approval on Sept. 14.

However, anybody can vote in an unofficial capacity for which emoji "you are most looking forward to in the Most Anticipated Emoji award, being drawn on July 17 aka World Emoji Day."

If you're wondering about the chances that "Pregnant Man" and "Pregnant Person" will make the cut, Emojipedia added that in past years, the majority of draft candidates ended up on the final list.

Another candidate is Person with Crown — a gender-inclusive alternative to the existing emojis for Princess and Prince, the organization said.

How are folks reacting?

Reactions to the "Pregnant Man" and "Pregnant Person" emoji finalists have been unsurprisingly blunt, such as this user's take:

Some others:

  • "The end is nigh; God will finally punish us," another commenter said.
  • "Men can't get pregnant," another user declared. "Knock it off with the woke gaslighting."
  • "I'm not even mad....we get Santa, leprechaun, and unicorn emojis....right? I don't object to make-believe fantasy emojis," another commenter wrote. "Do we get goblin, orc, hobbit, dragon, chimera, zombie, white walker, troll, and crab people emojis to go along with these make-believe pregnant men emojis?"
  • "No, a man cannot get pregnant, through natural biological means," another user observed. "Now a woman, pretending to be a man still equipped with all female parts can become pregnant, but, she is still not a man. 'Believe the science!'"

The transgender agenda has become an increasingly contentious sociopolitical issue over the last several years, and TheBlaze has covered it extensively — including stories about transgender men giving birth.

In the early days of 2019, TheBlaze wrote about a gay man who impregnated his transgender partner — who identified as male.
