FBI pushed 'false narrative' about leftist terrorist's shooting of Scalise, GOP baseball practice: House report

Rep. Steve Scalise (R-La.) and several other Republican lawmakers were practicing for a charity baseball game on June 14, 2017, when a leftist terrorist took aim at them and opened fire. Alexandria police officers and U.S. Capitol police officers were able to permanently neutralize the shooter, a supporter of Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) — but not before he hit Scalise and three others.

Days after the shooting, the FBI acknowledged that the shooter, James Hodgkinson, had repeatedly espoused "anti-Republican views"; identified six members of Congress as targets; prepared for months; and ensured that the individuals on the field were Republicans before his attack. However, the FBI concluded there was "no nexus to terrorism" and ultimately spun the attack as suicide by cop.

A newly released congressional report claims that the bureau "used false statements, manipulation of known facts, and biased and butchered analysis to support a narrative that Hodgkinson committed suicide by cop without any nexus to domestic terrorism."

The majority staff report from the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence released Tuesday noted that years after this mischaracterization, "based upon no new information or evidence gathering, the FBI changed its previous decision that this case was a purely criminal matter involving suicide by cop," and recognized the attack as a "domestic terrorism event."

'This report definitively shows the FBI completely mishandled the investigation.'

"The FBI arrived at the obvious conclusion four years too late," continued the report. "Unfortunately, the timing of the changed position indicates politics rather than Fidelity, Bravery and Integrity by an agency that should be guided by an apolitical commitment to uphold the Constitution."

Scalise, who took a bullet to the hip and suffered fractured bones, damaged organs, and severe bleeding, said in a statement, "This report definitively shows the FBI completely mishandled the investigation into the Congressional baseball shooting of 2017 — ignoring crucial and obvious facts in order to sell a false narrative that the shooting was not politically motivated."

Scalise thanked FBI Director Kash Patel and the committee "for finally getting to the truth of the matter: this was a deliberate and planned act of domestic terrorism toward Republican Members of Congress."

Patel enabled the committee to review the FBI case file, which congressional investigators received in two tranches, altogether amounting to roughly 4,400 pages.

Congressional investigators determined on the basis of the case file that the FBI investigation failed to substantively interview eyewitnesses to the shooting, failed to develop a comprehensive timeline of events, and improperly classified the file at the Secret level, "which may have assisted the FBI in obfuscating its substandard investigative efforts and analysis."

'Based upon one erroneous factual conclusion and two false premises.'

The House report also picked apart the FBI's preferred narrative as well as some of the bureau's public statements, noting for instance that:

  • whereas the FBI publicly stated Hodgkinson told a family member he was traveling to Washington, D.C., but had not provided "any additional information on his travel," the case file indicates the bureau had by that time interviewed five of the terrorist's family members, "all of whom provided considerable additional information";
  • the FBI gave undue weight to the suggestion by Hodgkinson's brother that the terrorist wanted to commit suicide by cop, which was apparently based not on a discussion with his brother but on a post-action opinion on his brother's "poor markmanship during the attack";
  • "since there were no uniformed officers present at the time of the attack and Hodgkinson had no reason to believe there were police present, the suicide by cop determination does not make sense" especially since he took "several actions that may indicate he hoped to survive the firefight";
  • a desire to die is not mutually exclusive with domestic terrorism — after all, "suicide bombs are a routine tactic of terrorism";
  • whereas the FBI claimed "no context was included" on Hodgkinson's kill list, the list included physical descriptions of Republican lawmakers as well as the names of two Republicans on the congressional baseball team present for the fateful practice;
  • the FBI's assertion that "Hodgkinson's list of six congressmen found in his vehicle does not appear to be a 'hit list'" is "based upon one erroneous factual conclusion and two false premises";
  • the FBI intimated there were only two documents in the terrorist's possession when in fact there were pages of notes "demonstrating his political thoughts and motivations";
  • the FBI claimed the terrorist "was not a member of any extremist organization and did not have contact with individuals who were affiliated with extremist organizations" but glossed over his membership in a Facebook group called "Terminate The Republican Party"; and
  • the FBI claimed it "found no information to indicate Hodgkinson chose to act to impact government policy or the political system" despite the terrorist claiming before leaving Illinois with his weapons that he was going to D.C. to protest government policy.

The committee recommended that Patel figure out how the FBI arrived at its 2017 decision to frame the attack as suicide by cop — as well as whether then-acting Director Andrew McCabe or another senior leader pushed for that conclusion.

The committee also suggested the possibility of pursuing legislation that "establishes criminal liability for the politicization of intelligence analysis."

Democrats on the committee agreed with the majority's finding that the shooting was a "domestic terror attack motivated at least in part by political animus" and suggested the FBI should have made that determination sooner. However, the Democratic members cast doubt on whether political considerations factored into the FBI's failure to immediately recognize the attack as domestic terrorism and advocated against considering criminal charges against intelligence analysts.

Elon Musk enters British politics, calls for release of Tommy Robinson and resignation of PM Keir Starmer

British journalist — or as the internet labels him, anti-Islam campaigner and far-right radical — Tommy Robinson is currently serving prison time for contempt of court.

However, many believe that Robinson’s incarceration is actually due to his outspokenness against the U.K.’s radical, leftist, pro-Islam government that has opened the country’s borders and allowed in floods of Muslims who are unabashed in their hatred for Westerners and Western culture.

One of the people in the "free Tommy Robinson" coalition is none other than X, Tesla, and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk.

On X, Musk has been not only calling for Robinson’s release from prison but also for Prime Minister Keir Starmer to resign due to his failure to investigate the Rochdale scandal.

Dave Rubin reads from a Daily Wire report: “The national scandal in Great Britain where for years ‘predominantly Pakistani’ men reportedly groomed and raped young British girls only to have the government seemingly turn a blind eye has come to a boil, with many people, including billionaire Elon Musk, publicly calling for the resignation of Labour Prime Minister Keir Starmer."

“The Labour Party has blocked an investigation into Starmer, who served as head of the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS). Jess Phillips, Labour's safeguarding minister, insisted that it was for ‘Oldham Council alone’ to decide whether to launch an investigation into alleged exploitation between 2011 and 2014, the Telegraph reported.”

Musk has been posting a flurry of tweets aimed at exposing both Starmer and Philips.

“They believe that there are literally hundreds of thousands, possibly a million young girls, who were groomed and raped in the U.K. in the last decade or so by these largely Pakistani immigrants,” says Dave.

Keir Starmer and the British government, however, have not only failed to investigate these heinous crimes, they’ve also labeled anyone who raises awareness of the abuse as Islamophobic.

Dave Rubin REACTS to Justin Trudeau’s unexpected resignation speech

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau appears to have decided to start his New Year off with a bang, after he announced on Monday that he intends to resign as party leader and prime minister.

"I intend to resign as party leader, as prime minister, after the party selects its next leader through a robust nationwide competitive process," Trudeau told reporters. "Last night, I asked the president of the Liberal Party to begin that process. This country deserves a real choice in the next election, and it has become clear to me that if I'm having to fight internal battles, I cannot be the best option in that election."

Trudeau led the nation for nearly a decade but was facing significant drops in his approval ratings over the last few years, with many detractors citing the soaring cost of living as a reason for their disdain.

“Nobody should be surprised by any of this,” Dave Rubin of “The Rubin Report” comments happily.

“It’s like Canada handed the keys to the kingdom of a wonderful country with really amazing people for 10 years to someone who wanted absolute control — who literally wanted to make sure he could control what you say and control what you’re doing online and shut down your bank account if you protested him and allow in all sorts of people through their borders. And God knows what those people then are doing,” Rubin says.

“Canada seems to be in a wakeup moment right? Like, there is a chance that things will turn around in Canada,” he adds.

‘The laws of life’: Why when the ‘call to adventure’ comes, you have to take it

Tony Robbins didn’t come from success. Rather, he started from nothing and became a man to whom millions of people around the world look for advice on how to turn their lives around. Now, he’s letting Dave Rubin of “The Rubin Report” in on some secrets as well.

And this particular bit of wisdom is life-changing.

“Take 'The Wizard of Oz,’ a simplistic one, right? Here’s Dorothy, her life is just fine,” Robbins tells Rubin. “Then she gets a call to adventure. The call to adventure doesn’t sound like a call to adventure. It sounds like somebody in your family is diagnosed with a major disease.”

“Or, you know, COVID, and they shut down your business or you’re in a position where all of a sudden your relationship is breaking up. The call to adventure is something that wakes you up so you don’t just settle,” he continues.

This is what leads Robbins to what he believes are the “laws of life.”

“Everything in the universe grows or it dies, and everything contributes or eventually it’s eliminated by evolution. Those aren’t my laws; those are laws of life. And when people are happy is when they’re growing,” he explains.

“People say, ‘What does it take to be happy?’ I say, ‘The word is progress.’ Even if you don’t achieve it, if you’re making progress, you feel alive. After you achieve it, you feel good for how long? A week? A month? A year? Probably not a year, because we’re meant to keep growing; we’re meant to keep expanding,” Robbins says.

“And when you go on to this new adventure, it’s full of uncertainty. That’s why people avoid it. I’d rather deal with the devil I know than the devil I don’t know. But that’s where all your passion is found, in uncertainty,” he continues.

“So life tends to get something to wake us up, and then, when you go on the journey, ironically, you meet new friends, you develop new mentors, and you get to the point of no return where you can’t turn back. You’ve burned your boats and you have to go forward,” he adds.

What will STOP you from achieving your New Year’s goals — and how to beat it

The new year signifies a fresh start and a time to focus on your goals and the future.

Tony Robbins, who has found the time to run 114 companies that have generated $8 billion in business, knows just what keeps so many people from turning their own goals into reality.

“I think the thing that stops people, whether it’s in their relationship or whether it’s their business or their career or their body, is the disappointments of the past,” Robbins tells Dave Rubin of “The Rubin Report.”

“So what really shows up is fear. The fear of failure, the fear of success, the fear of rejection, the fear of the unknown,” he says. “The deepest fear is that ‘If I’m not enough, I won’t be loved.’ And love is the oxygen of life.”

“Most people have so much fear still, because of so many disappointments, that they’re afraid to get their hopes up,” he continues. “Of course, if you don’t get your hopes up, if you don’t commit to something, if you don’t give your all every time because you’re afraid of failing, you’re not going to follow through.”

When people focus on fear, they form what Robbins calls a “limiting identity.”

“I believe the strongest force in anybody’s personality, in the human personality, is the need to stay consistent with how you’ve defined yourself. We all have an identity for ourselves. So you’ll hear people say something like, ‘Is there a difference between somebody who feels depressed and somebody who is clinically depressed?’”

Robbins believes that those who have been diagnosed with depression are less likely to accept happy moments or success because it’s not a part of their identity.

“Our need to meet that definition — if you don’t know who you are, you can’t make a decision. It’s like when people talk about somebody turning 40 and, you know, having this midlife crisis. What there really is, it’s an identity crisis,” he says.

RECAP: The most insane election night meltdowns of 2024

Dave Rubin’s Christmas gift to himself was a video compilation of the most unhinged lefties reacting to Trump’s victory. It’s the gift that keeps on giving because these videos will never get old.

Joy Reid, comparing the election to “an audition for managing a complex organization,” claimed that “Kamala Harris passed the audition flawlessly.”

“This is, in many ways, a perfect campaign,” she said, clearly shocked at the loss.

Ultimately, she blamed the racism of white women for Harris’ loss.

“Black voters came through for Kamala Harris. White women voters did not,” she said.

Choking back tears, Jimmy called it a “terrible night for women, for children, for the hundreds of thousands of hardworking immigrants who make this country go, for health care, for our climate, for science, for our allies in Ukraine, for NATO, for the truth.”

Joe Scarborough said the following: “There's something far, far more long-lasting than just Donald Trump the candidate.There is sort of a Russian embrace of disinformation, a radical devaluing of truth over the last nine to 10 years, and a complete ignorance on civics and what the term Madisonian democracy even means, what checks and balances even mean ... what the rule of law even means.”

“It's not just misogyny from white men; it's misogyny from Hispanic men,” he later added, noting that racism likely played a part, too.

The Washington Post’s Jonathan Capehart said of Trump’s victory, “I'm mystified in some ways ... because we’re talking about a twice-impeached, four-times-indicted, convicted-on-34-felony-counts former president.”

“There are African-American women who know a little bit about being talked down to and know a little bit about having their economic dreams crushed who tried to dream a big dream over the past couple of months, and tonight, they're trading in a lot of hope for a lot of hurt,” said CNN’s Van Jones.
