The real scandal isn’t Joe Biden’s decline — it’s who hid it from you

The Prime Cut Diamond Drilling company defines a controlled demolition as:

The process of systematically demolishing a structure in order to achieve a certain objective. Often used for work on buildings where high control measures of safety and order are essential, controlled demolition ensures that disturbance to the surrounding structures and area is kept to a minimum.

The company makes clear that a controlled demolition isn’t just blowing up buildings with dynamite, swinging wrecking balls, or making noise with drills and burst charges. It’s about precision. Even the Occupational Safety and Health Administration maintains a web of standards, subparts, and interpretive letters to help ensure compliance with destruction — done by the book, clean and contained.

Why would the Trump administration make such a colossal mistake to reward those who propped up Biden and failed to perform their duty to investigate the truth?

This same concept — orderly destruction — eerily mirrors what the legacy media and Democratic Party are doing to Joe Biden. Their goal: dispose of him and his political baggage as efficiently as possible. As Gwen Walz might put it, it’s time to “turn the page.” The priority isn’t honesty. It’s containment. Limit the damage to Biden and his family. Protect the political infrastructure that carried him into power.

At the center of this choreographed takedown: a conveniently timed book from CNN’s Jake Tapper and Axios’ Alex Thompson. For dramatic effect, the public gets a sudden, “unexpected” admission of Biden’s health problems — framing the collapse as a personal tragedy rather than an institutional failure.

None of this should surprise anyone. Fortunately, most Americans see through the staged confessional period now playing out across the media. It’s political kayfabe — an orchestrated performance where journalists and insiders finally admit what they’ve known for years: Joe Biden wasn’t running the country.

What they still refuse to confront is the real question: if not Biden, then who?

These same operatives now expect to walk away with their reputations intact. They offer carefully worded regret, maybe a little contrition, and assume that’s enough to preserve their elite status.

We cannot let them off the hook.

The American public deserves transparency and accountability for the chaos and destruction of the Biden years. The people who called the shots behind the scenes must be named. They must answer for what they did.

A shameless cash grab

For four years, Democrats insisted that “democracy was under attack.” Fine. Then tell us: Who actually held power inside the White House? Who made the decisions? Who overrode the president?

You don’t get to wave the flag of constitutional order while hiding the names of those who exercised executive authority in secret. That’s not how a functioning republic is supposed to work. Pretending otherwise insults every voter and mocks the very system these people claim to protect.

The media should be held accountable alongside those who exercised presidential authority on Joe Biden’s behalf. Tapper and Thompson’s new book isn’t journalism — it’s a shameless attempt to cash in on a cover-up they actively helped sustain.

Throughout the Biden presidency, both CNN and Axios prioritized access to the White House over honesty with the American public. Axios will point to a handful of criticisms they published, but a full review of their coverage tells the real story: They consistently accepted and repeated the Biden administration’s preferred narrative.

They showed no interest in investigating the Biden family’s ties to the Chinese Communist Party. They downplayed Special Counsel Robert Hur’s probe into Biden’s mishandling of classified documents. And now they’re dismissing our investigation into the White House’s use of an autopen to sign documents — an effort that kept the paper trail moving while insulating the president from oversight.

But the betrayal runs deeper than journalistic malpractice. Tapper and Thompson’s work isn’t just morally compromised — it’s commercially rigged. Axios has a clear financial stake in its own reporter being the center of the story. That context matters, especially when Axios somehow obtained the audio recordings of Biden’s long-sought interview with Hur.

Those tapes didn’t fall from the sky.

The Oversight Project spent the past year in litigation, pushing the Justice Department toward a decision on releasing them by May 20. We negotiated in good faith with the government, believing the process would result in a fair release.

Then, late on Friday, May 16, Axios dropped select portions of the Hur interview — bylined by none other than Alex Thompson.

Absent from their story? Any editor’s note disclosing Thompson’s direct financial interest in the book set to release just days later.

Maximum spin job

Why would the Trump administration make such a colossal mistake to reward those who actively propped up Biden and failed to perform their duty to investigate the truth? All the talk of the “fake news being the enemy of the people” seems insincere when Jake Tapper’s business partner is given the scoop.

And it’s not just the Trump administration implicitly sanctioning Axios and CNN’s role in this long history; it’s that Axios also massively botched the rollout itself. This is a key part of a controlled demolition.

In the hours after the tapes dropped, our legal team at the Oversight Project scrambled to make sense of what had just happened. We, along with others, had operated in good faith — only to be blindsided when those negotiations suddenly veered in the opposite direction.

A closer review of Axios’ release revealed the deception. The audio had been edited using “jump cuts” that made Biden sound worse in places. We knew immediately how that would play out. Biden’s defenders would seize on the edits to discredit the broader argument. And they did. At this point, calling it coincidence stretches belief.

Every step of this process has aimed to shield Biden — and the people who kept him in place — from real accountability. That pattern continues to this day.

Back in February, we forced the Department of Justice to commit to a deadline: May 20. It agreed to make a decision on whether to release the Hur interview tapes. Shortly after, Tapper and Thompson’s book was announced. The timeline doesn’t feel random. It looks scripted. This wasn’t chaos — it was a controlled demolition.

The autopen investigation

At the Oversight Project, we don’t intend to let that plan succeed.

We won’t allow them to shut the book on the Biden years with a whisper instead of a reckoning.

We’ll provide the dynamite. We’ll swing the wrecking ball. And when the moment demands precision, we’ll bring the drill and the charges. The key to unraveling this entire deception lies in one place: the autopen investigation.

Whoever controlled the autopen controlled the White House. Biden wasn’t running the show. Everyone knows that now. The next step is identifying who was.

And we won’t need Tapper's or Thompson’s help to get there. In fact, they’ve wandered directly into our demolition zone.

How the Biden regime went from ‘scamdemic’ to sympathy tour

Just as they used COVID-19 to drag Joe Biden across the finish line in the 2020 election, the Democrat-media complex is now exploiting Biden’s prostate cancer diagnosis in a naked attempt to deflect attention from the very people who rigged the last game.

The same political operatives, government lifers, and corporate media hacks who pushed lockdowns, censored dissent, and rewrote election rules are at it again — weaponizing illness for power. Of course, everything they touch is diseased. It always has been — and not just biologically.

Everything Democrats have sold us since Super Tuesday in 2020 has been a demonic lie in a battle for the soul of our country.

The dark strongholds and principalities that have guided and defined the entirety of the Biden-era plague are simply not from the mortal world. As human beings, we are not capable of the level of plotting and scheming that defines modern-day Democrats and their media minions.

Back in early 2020, just before Super Tuesday, we watched the Democrat-media complex take the lifeless Biden campaign, dead and buried — and resurrect it in less than 48 hours, blowing the front-running commie, Bernie Sanders, completely out of the water. Suddenly, the same Biden who had zero wins before that moment — especially when compared to Sanders and Mayor Pete Buttigieg — was winning states by large margins, even though he had never even visited them or could not even name them on a map between bites of pudding.

And then, about two weeks later, the world shut down because of the “scamdemic.” The resurrected dead guy got to run for the most powerful office in the world from his basement, culminating in an election where the Democrats won by razor-thin margins in the most decisive states through unprecedented mail-in balloting.

Somehow, the rejection rate of mail-in ballots dropped in those places — despite the record volume flooding the polls. This is the first government system in all of human history that became more efficient with increased volume — and it happened in places completely run by Democrats.

Signs of decline

Remember the shock in 2016 when Donald Trump won four decisive states by fewer than 80,000 votes? That narrow victory sparked years of breathless media coverage, congressional investigations, and discredited conspiracy theories about Russian collusion.

Now contrast that with 2020.

When Joe Biden “won” six key states by a combined margin of fewer than 40,000 votes, anyone who questioned the outcome faced cancellation — or even criminal prosecution. If you raised doubts while sitting in Nancy Pelosi’s chair dressed like the Minnesota Vikings mascot, you risked years in prison.

Even before the COVID shutdown and the orchestrated 2020 campaign from the basement began, Biden’s decline was obvious. My show had front-row access to the Iowa caucuses, and I saw more of the Democratic field up close than most national reporters.

At the time, it wasn’t easy to say out loud what many could already see: Biden showed clear signs of cognitive decline. But looking back, a lot of things that seemed strange in the moment now make perfect — and very dark — sense.

How about calling a lid at noon most days in order to go back to Delaware after becoming president? Well, if you were undergoing some form of cancer treatment or chemo, it was probably a lot simpler to keep that a secret as opposed to whatever’s going on inside the White House. Then again, they once claimed they couldn’t identify the source of a bag of cocaine found in the West Wing — at the same time Hunter Biden was visiting.

Or how about the man who gets the best health care on earth not knowing until four months ago that he had one of the most detectable forms of cancer — and he only found out when it was already in its most aggressive stage? Moreover, the news dropped ahead of the imminent release of special counsel Robert Hur’s audio recordings during his 2023 interview with Biden over his alleged mishandling of classified government documents. Is that a coincidence?

They gaslit us

The verdict is in. They gaslit the public for years about President Biden’s obvious mental decline. Now they expect us to shut up and feel sorry for him — because he has cancer.

It’s a distraction campaign, plain and simple. They’re using a sympathy diagnosis to bury the real question: Who has been running the White House while Biden signed off on policy with an autopen?

It started with craven media operatives like Jake Tapper. CNN ran headlines mocking conservatives for raising concerns about Biden’s mental acuity, just one day before the Biden-Trump debate last summer. Then 65 million Americans watched the dementia presidency unravel in real time, and suddenly CNN had no choice but to admit that he couldn’t run again.

Within 24 hours, the same network that dismissed “conspiracy theories” conceded the obvious. And just like that, the Democratic establishment and its media enablers staged a political coup. They ousted Biden without a single vote cast in a primary — by the same people who spent years lecturing America about “sacred democracy.”

Now Tapper is trying to sell a book, claiming it was a big misunderstanding and the media was duped like everyone else.

The truth is, everything that Democrats have sold us since Super Tuesday 2020 has been a demonic lie in a battle for the soul of our country — the last bastion of Christendom and Western civilization remaining on the planet.

Like the Greatest Generation facing down fascism nearly a century ago, we now face an enemy that wears a smile, holds a press pass, and calls itself your savior. But the agenda is dark, and the stakes are eternal.

How else do you explain a Biden shadow presidency that looks like something out of the rejected final season of “House of Cards”? But that was our reality, and now we must make someone pay for it.

Media cover-up unravels: Biden’s mental struggles confirmed in damning leaked tapes

Audio of Joe Biden’s 2023 interview with special counsel Robert Hur, long hidden from the public, has finally been released, confirming, in the ears of many conservatives, what the media and Biden allies have long denied: that the president’s cognitive decline was severe. On Friday, Axios’ Alex Thompson published the tapes just days before the release of his new book with Jake Tapper, sparking fresh scrutiny of the Biden presidency — and the media’s role in shielding it.

Hur interviewed Biden as part of his investigation into the alleged storage of classified materials at Biden’s Delaware home in the period between his vice presidency and inauguration as the nation’s 46th president. Hur cited Biden’s mental decline in his decision not to prosecute, writing, “Biden would likely present himself to a jury, as he did during our interview of him, as a sympathetic, well-meaning, elderly man with a poor memory.”

'The illegal withholding of this audio tape was election interference meant to protect a failing Biden and then Harris campaign.'

At the time, an unnamed Democratic operative called Hur’s characterization of Biden “beyond devastating,” adding, “It confirms every doubt and concern that voters have. If the only reason they didn't charge him is because he’s too old to be charged, then how can he be president of the United States?”

The sentiment was short-lived as Democrats and allies in the mainstream media quickly shifted to defense of Biden after then-Attorney General Merrick Garland refused to release either the audio recording or transcript of the interview. Later in 2024, the Department of Justice relented and released the transcript after House Republicans took action. The recording of the interview had never been released until Friday.

Earlier in May, a federal court gave the Trump administration until May 20 to explain how it would respond to plaintiffs seeking the full Biden-Hur audio recordings. That legal deadline just happens to coincide with the release of “Original Sin,” the new book by Axios’ Alex Thompson and CNN’s Jake Tapper.

In an emergency late-night court filing obtained by Blaze News, the Oversight Project — a key plaintiff in the lawsuit — highlighted this timing:

Full disclosure is necessary now. One of the two journalists who (apparently) has the full tape is Alex Thompson of Axios, the man with a clear financial interest in how the audio is portrayed given his forthcoming book with Jake Tapper in which Tapper undergoes a remarkable conversion from having favorably covered President Biden when President Biden was in office to now critically reporting on President Biden.

The filing emphasized that Thompson had reportedly obtained the complete recording but, as of Friday, had released only selected clips — those most favorable to the thesis of his upcoming book. On Saturday, Axios released what it described as the full recording of the interview.

Oversight Project President Mike Howell told Blaze News, “The media and Biden administration embarrassed themselves trying to deceive the public about Biden's health.” He added, “The illegal withholding of this audio tape was election interference meant to protect a failing Biden and then Harris campaign. While we are happy we have fulfilled our promise to deliver the tape to the American people, they deserved it long ago. They now deserve accountability and to answer the fundamental question of who was the president the last four years.”

In 2024, the media defenders of the Biden administration, including CNN senior legal analyst Elie Honig, argued that withholding the recording was appropriate to protect prosecutorial integrity.

In a piece entitled “The Secret Biden Tape We Shouldn’t Hear,” Honig argued, “As a current member of the media (and of the voting public), I’d like to cast scorn on Garland for his decision to withhold the Hur-Biden audio recording. But as a former prosecutor, I applaud him. We probably won’t ever hear the tape. And that’s for the best.”

Following the unexpected release of the recording, Honig did not respond when contacted by Blaze News for comment. But other media figures, including Honig’s CNN colleague Jake Tapper — Thompson’s co-author — appear to be working to rehabilitate their credibility in light of the tape’s contents.

That response has drawn sharp criticism from conservative media watchdogs. Curtis Houck, managing editor of MRC’s NewsBusters, accused the mainstream press of hypocrisy and opportunism.

“All of these liberal journalists expressing shock or dismay at the audio being released need to be lambasted and mocked,” Houck told Blaze News. “This is a blatant covering of one's behind and hoping the public isn't old enough to remember the scorn they heaped at Robert Hur when his report came out.”

Houck further lambasted the mainstream media, “The sadness and/or anger at Joe Biden over hearing him struggle with basic facts about his family is really about that he screwed them out of power in the year of our Lord 2025. This has nothing to do with contrition and the public shouldn't fall victim to their sorrow now. Sudden distrust in the last four years shouldn't be confused with genuine contrition and apologies for participating in a generational cover-up.”

As more is being learned about the operations of the Biden presidency and the institutional cover-up of Biden’s mental decline, Howell told Blaze News that his organization’s fight to uncover what happened will continue: “Transparency and accountability are how our nation will heal. There is no other path.”
