Illegal alien suspected of wielding weed whacker at ICE agents is called a 'father' and 'victim' by local outlet



As the Trump administration continues its mission to enforce our nation's laws and deport illegal aliens, violent resistance is becoming far more commonplace. However, many media outlets continue to report only part of the story to paint illegal aliens and their supporters in a better light than some deserve.

On Saturday, a Santa Ana suspect, identified as Narciso Barranco by his family, reportedly violently resisted arrest by U.S. Border Patrol agents.

One of the sons of the suspect told KTLA-TV that Barranco was "picked up by alleged federal immigration officers while he was working as a landscaper at the IHOP on Edinger Avenue and Ritchey Street."

KTLA described the allegedly violent suspect as a "victim" and emphasized his role as a "father."

KTLA also implied that the U.S. Border Patrol agents were not acting legitimately, saying, "Seven or more masked men wearing U.S. Border Patrol vests are seen violently detaining a father in Santa Ana before forcing him into the back of an unmarked car on Saturday."

The video that KTLA included in its post apparently cuts out the beginning of the incident, in which the suspect is seen wielding a weed whacker and running from the agents as they attempt to detain him. Watch the full video above.

"On June 21, Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien who tried to evade law enforcement. The illegal alien ran, then turned and swung a weed whacker directly at an agent’s face. He then fled through a busy intersection and raised the weed whacker again at the agent. The illegal alien refused to comply every step of the way — resisting commands, fighting handcuffs, and refusing to identify himself," a Department of Homeland Security spokesperson told Blaze News.

The DHS spokesperson also said: "Reports that officers dislocated his shoulder are FALSE. He was offered medical care, which he declined." The office confirmed that the suspect is now in ICE custody.

On X, the DHS account replied to KTLA's post regarding this incident, calling the outlet's coverage a "completely slanted portrayal": "He ASSAULTED federal law enforcement with a WEED WHACKER. Perhaps the mainstream media would like our officers to stand there and be mowed down instead of defending themselves?"

DHS reaffirmed its commitment to continuing deportations, despite a rising rate of violent resistance. "Law enforcement is now facing a 500% increase in assaults while carrying out enforcement operations. But this will not deter CBP — we will continue enforcing the law and protecting American communities."

A GoFundMe page was started to raise funds for the suspect's legal counsel. It describes the suspect as a "good, hard working man" who has "raised his family here and has established himself here."

The GoFundMe page alleges that he was "pepper sprayed and punched in the face multiple times by these masked and unidentified 'officers.'" It has raised over $95,000 since its launch on Saturday.

KTLA was contacted but did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

14-year-old student dead after triple stabbing outside high school; 2 students — ages 15 and 17 — turn themselves in



Two male students — ages 15 and 17 — turned themselves in to police overnight after a fatal stabbing Wednesday afternoon just outside Santa Ana High School in Southern California, authorities told KTLA-TV.

Santa Ana police noted to the station that the two teens — both of whom attend the high school — were with their parents when they turned themselves in, and they remained in custody Thursday morning.

KTLA said authorities couldn’t yet confirm if arrests were made.

Authorities told the station in an earlier story that the triple stabbing took place just outside Santa Ana High School's entrance and that Santa Ana police responded to the incident around 3:25 p.m. Two male suspects reportedly fled from the scene, after which police began searching for them.

One of the stabbing victims — a 14-year-old male student who hasn't yet been identified — was taken to a hospital where he later died, KTLA said. He was a freshman at Santa Ana High, and friends and classmates told the station he was “kind and funny.”

Dianna Vasquez told KTLA her daughter was friends with the student who was killed: “When she got home with her friends, and they found out, she was in tears. She was crying. She couldn’t believe it. She said he was a really nice kid.”

Two other victims — ages 15 and 17 — were stabbed in their upper torsos but were in stable condition and expected to make full recoveries, KTLA said. They both are students at Santa Ana High as well, the station said.

Police said the suspects are affiliated with gangs, as was the deceased victim and the two surviving victims, KTLA reported.

The Santa Ana Unified School District said it would increase police presence Thursday at and around Santa Ana High, according to a statement posted to social media Wednesday night, the station said.

“We are committed to providing a safe, caring, and supportive environment for all students and staff,” the statement reads in part, according to KTLA. “We will continue to share updates as they become available. Thank you for your continued support and compassion.”

Good Samaritans subdue brute caught beating on highway patrol officer: 'Not very often that you see something like that'



A hulking brute gained the upper hand in a brawl with a California Highway Patrol officer Friday evening. Once trapped in a headlock, the motorcycle officer appeared short on time and air. He was not, however, short on friends.

Three Good Samaritans rushed into action, sparing the officer from possible doom and making good on the officer's earlier warning.

Everardo Navarro, 42, glimpsed the CHP officer on the receiving end of a beating off California's 5 freeway in Santa Ana, California.

"I just jumped," Navarro told the Los Angeles Times. "I don't think the officer was able to take control of that situation by himself, because the guy was very, very strong."

While the brute, who has been identified as 34-year-old Jaime Balderas Paniagua, may have appeared strong, Navarro's compulsion to act was stronger.

"I think about my kids at that moment," Navarro told KCAL-TV. "And at the same time, I did think the officer may have a family as well."

Navarro rushed across traffic to uphold the law and its highway enforcer. Two additional men swiftly joined Navarro in the effort.

KCAL indicated the officer had originally given the suspect a verbal warning for allegedly bending freeway signs and screaming at passersby. However, as the officer was preparing to ride away, Paniagua allegedly assailed him.

A video of the incident appears to show the suspect strike the officer, the officer respond, then both men grapple on the ground, with the suspect gaining the advantage on the road. At one stage, the suspect appears to get the officer into a headlock.

"When I actually get there, for a split second I didn't know what to do," said Navarro. "I just punched the guy in the ribs."

The Good Samaritan's flurry of punches to the suspect's solar plexus failed to free the officer, so he focused instead on breaking the choke hold.

In the footage of the incident, the other two Good Samaritans can be seen aiding the officer and ensuring the suspect couldn't grab the officer's sidearm.

Together, they successfully subdued the suspect and ensured the officer would live to ride again.

Anselmo Templado, a spokesman for the CHP, told KTLA, "Many of these situations, they end up becoming dangerous at a moment’s notice."

"I think it’s amazing that three Good Samaritans came in and stepped in and helped our officer out,” added Templado. "It’s not very often that you see something like that. Usually, it’s just people recording and standing by, but I just want to thank those three Good Samaritans for helping out our officer. It could’ve ended very badly, but luckily for them no one was seriously injured, and we got the subject under control."

Paniagua faces multiple charges including assault and battery on a peace officer and resisting arrest.
