Babylon Bee CEO donates $100k to stop Amendment 4 and KEEP Florida pro-life

Florida’s Amendment 4 would essentially legalize abortion up to the point of birth — and among other things, it’s on the ballot this November.

Babylon Bee CEO Seth Dillon has donated $100,000 of his own money to convince Floridians to vote no on the amendment and keep the Sunshine State pro-life.

“The biggest thing that’s going to make a difference in whether or not Amendment 4 gets passed is whether people understand what’s in it,” Dillon tells Jill Savage and Matthew Peterson of “Blaze News Tonight.”

However, Dillon explains that the “way the amendment is crafted is very conniving and misleading.”

“It’s intentionally written as this very vague thing that sounds like it’s just allowing for abortion up to the point of viability,” he continues. “A lot of people think that’s a reasonable thing, and so it has a lot of support.”

The amendment claims it will simply create a constitutional right for abortion up to the point of viability, but it’s worded to allow more. It cites that if a “health care provider” — not a physician — but a “health care provider” deems that an abortion is necessary for the health of the mother, then it would be allowed in other cases beyond the point of viability.

“That just raises the question, OK, well what constitutes a health issue?” Dillon says, adding that a health care provider “could literally just be a clinic worker at Planned Parenthood.”

“It would remove parental consent and make it just parental notification so you could have minors who were getting these abortions beyond the point of viability,” he continues. “So it creates all kinds of problems that are kind of under the surface.”

Blaze News original: What would represent complete and total victory for the pro-life movement?

In 2022 the U.S. Supreme Court issued the ruling that overturned Roe v. Wade, but two years later, pro-lifers are still far from accompolishing their ultimate objective of ending the nation's ongoing abortion holocaust.

"Abortion remains the number-one killer in the country," Republican Rep. Bob Good of Virginia told Blaze News.

'We know the science of life now. Life does begin at conception.'

The congressman, who currently serves as chair of the House Freedom Caucus, said "the hope" is that eventually abortion will be regarded in the same manner as slavery, with people unable to imagine how it was once tolerated in the U.S.

"We know the science of life now. Life does begin at conception," Good noted.

He told Blaze News that complete and total victory for the pro-life movement would mean abortion becoming "unthinkable" in the U.S., though he noted that this is a "multifaceted battle" that entails changing people's views and helping mothers in tough circumstances know about options and support. He also noted that there is a "legislative component."

Good indicated that he would support a federal law or constitutional amendment to abolish abortion.

'The aim is always and only abolition.'

Babylon Bee CEO Seth Dillon also told Blaze News that victory for the pro-life movement would involve abortion becoming "unthinkable."

"Complete and total victory is the end of abortion. It's when abortion has become not just unlawful, but unthinkable. The challenge is that it won't become unlawful until it's unthinkable. It really is true that politics is downstream from culture. Slavery was eventually abolished, but not before minds and hearts were changed on a grand scale. The culture — not our conviction that all human life is sacred — must change," Dillon said in a statement to Blaze News.

"While compromise may be necessary on the road to abolition, it should never be our aim. If life is ever sacred, it's always sacred. Any legislative progress we make that reduces the number of abortions is good, and we'll take it. But the goal is abolition. As my friend Jeremy Boreing put it, 'Every step in that direction is a good but insufficient one,' Dillon wrote. "Ultimately we need a constitutional amendment that protects the right to life. This is not a realistic outcome right now, so we'll have to settle, in the meantime, for victories on the state level. But the truly pro-life will never be content with compromise. The aim is always and only abolition."

'There is never a good reason to murder an innocent child.'

BlazeTV host Steve Deace also advocates for the abolition of abortion in the U.S.

"Complete and total victory is the abolition of baby murder, just as complete and total victory over slavery was its abolition. Anything less may be progress and may even be righteous, but it is not total victory. There is never a good reason to murder an innocent child," Deace declared in a statement to Blaze News.

"Ultimately we need to have enshrined in the Constitution or at least affirmed via statute that the fifth and 14th Amendments (i.e. 'no person shall be deprived of life, liberty, or property without due process of law') applies to human life at all stages. In the meantime, the fight is at the state level. That is where the baby-murderers are making progress enshrining this evil into state constitutions, wickedness that would likely override any 'and then you can kill the baby' legislation in Congress – which frankly probably would not pass right now anyway. You have to fight the enemy where they are attacking you, and right now we are being attacked on the state level," Deace added.

But while pro-lifers like Good, Dillon, and Deace seek the end of the legalized slaughter of unborn children in the U.S., former President Donald Trump, who appointed three of the Supreme Court justices responsible for overturning Roe, has said that he would not support a national abortion ban.

Trump endorsed Good's Republican primary opponent and claimed that the incumbent congressman is "BAD" for the state and the nation — and Trump may have been successful in destroying the conservative lawmaker's re-election bid. McGuire received over 300 votes more than Good in the Republican primary in Virginia's 5th Congressional District, according to enr.elections.virginia.gov. The primary results have been certified by the Virginia State Board of Elections, according to the Associated Press. But Good wants a recount.

— (@)

Republicans 'should be proud of being the party of life.'

In a statement posted on his campaign website, Good declared, "Abortion is not healthcare. Abortion is not a human right. When it is treated as such, we deny that innocent baby their God-given rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. I believe all human life, born and unborn, should be protected and cherished. As a born-again Christian, I believe God calls us to defend the defenseless and be a voice for the voiceless. When deciding how to vote, I will always err on the side of unborn human life, each and every time."

Good told Blaze news that "Republicans cannot be afraid of" the abortion issue. He called the Democratic Party the "party of death, that celebrates abortion, that seems to want more abortion" and said that Republicans "should be proud of being the party of life."

Blaze News original: Trump's abortion comments put him at odds with pro-life advocates as he eyes the White House

Former President Donald Trump registered his disapproval earlier this month after the Arizona Supreme Court issued a ruling that would allow for the enforcement of a law that prohibits performing abortions except in cases where a mother's life is in peril.

Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes, a Democrat, has indicated that the earliest the law could become enforceable would be June 8. The law reads, "A person who provides, supplies or administers to a pregnant woman, or procures such woman to take any medicine, drugs or substance, or uses or employs any instrument or other means whatever, with intent thereby to procure the miscarriage of such woman, unless it is necessary to save her life, shall be punished by imprisonment in the state prison for not less than two years nor more than five years."

The presumptive Republican presidential nominee, who supports exceptions to abortion bans in cases of rape, incest, and life of the mother, said that the state needed to take action to "remedy what has happened."

"The Supreme Court in Arizona went too far on their Abortion Ruling, enacting and approving an inappropriate Law from 1864. So now the Governor and the Arizona Legislature must use HEART, COMMON SENSE, and ACT IMMEDIATELY, to remedy what has happened. Remember, it is now up to the States and the Good Will of those that represent THE PEOPLE. We must ideally have the three Exceptions for Rape, Incest, and Life of the Mother. This is important! Democrats are the EXTREMISTS - They support Abortion up to the moment of birth, and even execution of Babies, in some cases, after birth. This should not be. Arizona Legislature, please act as fast as possible!" Trump declared in a post on Truth Social.

Seth Dillon, CEO of the popular satire site the Babylon Bee, told Blaze News that he takes issue with some of Trump's recent remarks but added that the Republican presidential contender remains "the obvious choice."

"The pro-life position that I hold and defend maintains that it isn't possible to go too far in protecting innocent, defenseless babies. Trump is out of step with pro-lifers there. But he's still the obvious choice. There's just no way you could prefer to see a Democrat win if you're pro-life," Dillon noted, echoing remarks he previously made in a post on X.

— (@)

Dillon's sentiments are likely shared by many other pro-lifers as well.

Trump is slated to face off against Democratic President Joe Biden during the 2024 presidential contest. Independent candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is also seeking the presidency but has indicated that he is pro-choice.

"While I disagree with him that some abortion is permissible (if life is ever sacred, it's always sacred), Trump is doing what politicians do. He's aiming at compromise to avoid alienating voters. Whether that's the best strategy is for others to decide. I'm not a politician. I say what I think is true and right, regardless of what the polls say," Dillon told Blaze News.

"In my view, being pro-abortion — even if it's just for rare circumstances — should be as politically toxic as being pro-slavery. It should be impossible to get elected taking that barbaric position. If it isn't, then we're failing in the fight for the culture. Put another way, the problem isn't that we're 'too pro-life.' It's that our culture is passionately pro-death. In that case, the culture — not our conviction that all human life is sacred — must change," he explained.

A 2022 U.S. Supreme Court ruling returned to states the authority to fully determine how to handle the issue of abortion. Three of the justices responsible for that ruling — Neil Gorsuch, Brett Kavanaugh, and Amy Coney Barrett — were nominated by Trump during his White House tenure.

The decision declared, "The Constitution does not prohibit the citizens of each State from regulating or prohibiting abortion. Roe and Casey arrogated that authority. We now overrule those decisions and return that authority to the people and their elected representatives."

Trump has said that he is "proudly the person responsible for the ending of ... Roe v. Wade."

"My view is now that we have abortion where everybody wanted it from a legal standpoint," Trump said in a video released earlier this month, "states will determine by vote, or legislation, or perhaps both, and whatever they decide must be the law of the land, in this case, the law of the state."

"Always go by your heart. But we must win. We have to win," Trump said.

But while pro-lifers have heralded the high court's 2022 rulingas a massive victory, they still advocate for an end to the ongoing abortion holocaust that persists in the U.S.

"The ultimate goal of the pro-life movement should be to end the scourge of state-sanctioned child sacrifice from these shores once and for all," BlazeTV host Steve Deace told Blaze News.

"To me, anything less than that as a desired and actually pursued goal isn't pro-life but playing a dangerous game with something I believe God takes very, very seriously. Now, people of good conscience on this matter can disagree on the best/most prudent way to pursue that goal, and I respect that. For example, I have deeply committed pro-life friends of mine who believed we are better off fighting this at the state level now even before Trump's position to that end. However, the former president went way too far in then also calling for states like Arizona and Florida to roll back their current pro-life protections, and he should be rebuked for that. It is one thing to say we are incrementally saving as many as we can. Entirely another to advocate going backwards to permit killing even more," Deace noted.

Blaze Media's Daniel Horowitz indicated during a phone interview that if conservatives don't advocate for themselves and express their displeasure with the former president, Trump will continue moving left on abortion as well as other matters.

"It's one thing to quietly and strategically focus on inflation and the invasion rather than leading on abortion headed into the election. But Trump is taking it a step further and obsessing about abortion to the point that he is now calling on Republican legislatures to actively weaken existing law. All that accomplishes is to show further weakness to the voters," Horowitz noted in a written statement.

"The real culprit for GOP lethargy at the ballot is a lack of coherent messaging and accomplishments on other critical quality-of-life issues. If they would step up their game on other issues, voters would not punish them for their stance on abortion. Unfortunately, Trump has also been moving to the left recently on other issues including Obamacare, Ukraine funding, and Bud Light. Taken together, this reeks more of desperation for donors than some sort of maverick MAGA strategy unique to abortion. We've seen this play from Republican candidates for decades," Horowitz said.

Seth Dillon mockingly responds after Kari Lake campaign says Babylon Bee post 'isn't even valid satire'

Kari Lake's campaign blasted the Babylon Bee over a piece mocking Lake's abortion stance.

The satire site's headline that Lake's campaign objected to read, "Kari Lake Announces Plan To Lose Another Election But This Time While Supporting Baby Murder."

"This is reprehensible and it isn't even valid satire. Disgusting," the "Kari Lake War Room" account wrote in response to the Bee's tweet.

— (@)

Babylon Bee CEO Seth Dillon fired back, mocking the complaint from Lake's campaign. "I would like to apologize to everyone affected by the invalid satire we published earlier. From now on we will check to make sure it's as valid as the abortion law in Arizona before posting," he quipped.

— (@)

Lake, who is currently running in the Republican U.S. Senate primary in Arizona, has said that she would oppose a federal abortion ban.

She has also expressed opposition to an Arizona Supreme Court ruling on a law that prohibits performing abortion unless the mother's life is in peril.

The law states that, "A person who provides, supplies or administers to a pregnant woman, or procures such woman to take any medicine, drugs or substance, or uses or employs any instrument or other means whatever, with intent thereby to procure the miscarriage of such woman, unless it is necessary to save her life, shall be punished by imprisonment in the state prison for not less than two years nor more than five years."

While the ruling to allow enforcement of the law marked a clear win for the pro-life cause, Lake opposed the decision and called for the state's legislature and Democratic governor "to come up with an immediate common sense solution that Arizonans can support."

The ruling stated, "Although we lift the stay on enforcement of § 13-3603, we do so with two caveats. First, § 13-3603 may be enforced prospectively only. Second, we stay enforcement of § 13-3603 for fourteen calendar days from the filing date of this Opinion to permit the parties, on remand, to determine whether to pursue remaining issues raised in the trial court and, if so, to request further stay relief at the trial court's discretion."

Conservative thanks crazy Dems for inspiring new gender book that is absurd in all the RIGHT ways

With everything going on in the world today, it’s become increasingly hard to be funny.

The amount of humorous content generated unwittingly by Democrats makes it hard to one-up them. Thankfully, Babylon Bee CEO Seth Dillon is here to take on that challenge.

One of the latest ventures undertaken by Dillon and his team at the Babylon Bee is a book that does just that: “The Babylon Bee Guide to Gender.”

The book answers serious questions Americans might have, like how many genders are there, really? How do you find out if you’re, in fact, a woman? And should Nikki Haley have become a biologist before declaring her womanhood every five seconds during Fox News’ first GOP presidential primary debate?

Glenn Beck sits down with Dillon to review these questions, and their conversation is every bit as hilarious as one might hope.

Part of the book is dedicated to a timely and important test that begins with the question: “Still not sure if you’re a woman?”

“Are you always cold?” Glenn reads, laughing. “Has a human popped out of you?”

“Have you ever decorated a bed with six or more pillows?” he continues, adding, “I refuse to answer.”

“This just allows us to draw general inferences though,” Dillon interjects, adding, “but because we’re not biologists we can’t say definitely. This quiz will give you a good idea.”

“We had this problem,” he continues, “for most of human history. We didn’t have science, we were all a bunch of bigots, and we thought that there were just men and women. And then science was invented very recently, and they determined that men can get pregnant and that women can suffer testicle injuries.”

Dillon is proud of his creation but owes a lot of credit to hilarious Democrats who have made it possible.

“You really don’t have to satirize this stuff. You really just have to hold it up there and say, ‘Look how absurd this is,’ and that’s kind of what that book does.”

Tim Pool and the Babylon Bee are suing California's attorney general to prevent him from enforcing Democrats' 'censorship bill'

A conservative satire site, a populist podcaster, and an open-source social network are taking California's Democratic attorney general to court over a new law that will force social media companies to define undesirable speech and provide biannual reports on how they have policed it.

The Babylon Bee, Tim Pool, and Minds Inc. sued California Attorney General Robert Bonta Tuesday in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California, seeking to block the enforcement of Democratic Assembly member Jesse Gabriel's AB 587, which Gov. Gavin Newsom signed into law on Sept. 13, 2022.

Babylon Bee CEO Seth Dillon noted on his Substack that contrary to claims made by Democratic supporters of the legislation, AB 587 "is a censorship bill, not a transparency bill."

Minds CEO Bill Ottman, whose company will be impacted, said in a statement, "This law is openly about keeping people from exercising their right to create and publish constitutionally protected speech."

The 'censorship bill'

The law requires social media companies to post terms of service for each social media platform, thereby parameterizing acceptable user behavior and activities as well as what behavior or activities "may subject the user or an item of content to being actioned."

Extra to requiring companies to codify acceptable behavior and the consequences for misbehavior, the legislation states that twice a year, companies must submit a report to the AG, providing:

  • the current version of their TOS;
  • how their TOS defines (a) hate speech or racism, (b) extremism or radicalization, (c) disinformation or misinformation, (d) harassment, and (e) foreign political interference;
  • a breakdown of their censorship/moderation practices;
  • information about how users or content have been removed;
  • "Information on content that was flagged by the social media company"; and
  • other details pertaining to their so-called moderation efforts.

Companies that fail to provide an "adequate" report on time risk being "liable for a civil penalty not to exceed fifteen thousand dollars ($15,000) per violation per day."

Upon ratifying this bill, Newsom said, "California will not stand by as social media is weaponized to spread hate and disinformation that threaten our communities and foundational values as a country."

"Californians deserve to know how these platforms are impacting our public discourse, and this action brings much-needed transparency and accountability to the policies that shape the social media content we consume every day. I thank Assemblymember Gabriel for championing this important measure to protect Californians from hate, harassment and lies spread online," added the Democratic governor.

AB 587 went into effect January 2023. Companies must submit reports to the AG no later than Jan. 1, 2024.

The lawsuit

The lawsuit states that AB 587 is "unconstitutional on its face," and violates the rights of the Bee, Minds, and Pool under the First Amendment, the 14th Amendment, and the California Constitution.

"Those who wield political power in the Golden State have been candid about their displeasure with the speech being published on social media platforms," says the suit. "California Governor Gavin Newsom and Attorney General Bonta have both expressed a desire to use state power to chill speech they do not approve of, constitutionally protected expression they refer to with derogatory labels like 'disinformation,' 'hate speech,' and 'extremism.'"

Bonta's November 2022 letter to the heads of YouTube, Meta, Twitter, TikTok, and Reddit, in which he stated, "Social media platforms must take critical steps to stop the spread of disinformation and misinformation," is cited in the suit as one among many indications of the Newsom administration's desire to clamp down on free speech.

Later in the same letter, Bonta wrote, "I implore you to do more to rid your platforms of the dangerous disinformation, misinformation, conspiracy theories, and threats that fuel political violence, spread fear and distrust, and ultimately chill our democratic process."

According to the suit, AB 587 is "a vehicle for these unconstitutional ambitions" that was "designed to chill expression of lawful speech the State of California disapproves of to, as the legislation's sponsor put it, 'protect Californians from hate, harassment and lies spread online."

Among the categories of moderated speech (e.g., "racism," "extremism," etc.) that companies are instructed to report on under AB 587, the complaint notes that with the exception of "certain types of 'harassment' and 'foreign political interference,' these otherwise undefined categories of speech are plainly protected by the First Amendment."

"The practical effect of AB 587 is clear. To head off potential liability under the statute, and to keep the State of California's hands off its operations, social media companies must create and enforce policies related to disfavored content," said the suit. "Selectively requiring transparency of moderation policies of only certain viewpoints, using negative pejorative language, is a facial attempt to encourage increased moderation of such views."

Concerning California's purported desire to curb hate speech and misinformation on the internet, Dillon wrote, "It’s a good thing when people are allowed to speak freely. It’s a bad thing when Big Tech and the government work together to decide what we’re allowed to say. Why? Because they often get it wrong. Even worse, they get it wrong on purpose."

"In today’s post-truth, anti-reality world, describing a male person as a man is considered 'hateful conduct.' If Big Tech is tasked by the state with eliminating hateful or misinformative content, they’ll stuff everything they don’t like into those categories, including opinions, jokes, and even factual statements," Dillon added.

Babylon Bee CEO Seth Dillon fires back after being accused of 'straight up antisemitism'

Babylon Bee CEO Seth Dillon pushed back after Elad Nehorai — who describes himself as "ex-Hasidic" — accused Dillon of engaging in anti-Semitism.

"There are two questions every comedian must ask himself when writing a joke: 1. Is it funny? 2. Will it end my career because it offends the most powerful-but-insecure people in the world who mitigate mockery at their expense by self-identifying as oppressed and powerless?" Dillon wrote in the post that Nehorai described as anti-Semitic.

"Straight up antisemitism from the CEO of the Babylon Bee," Nehorai tweeted about Dillon's post.

\u201cStraight up antisemitism from the CEO of the Babylon Bee. As a reminder, the Babylon Bee was one of three accounts suspended reinstated by Musk.\u201d
— Elad Nehorai (@Elad Nehorai) 1668935540

"I wasn't talking about Jews, @EladNehorai. Why would you assume I was? We were locked in Twitter jail for 8 months for a joke about radical gender ideology. Other comedians have been canceled, and even physically attacked, for similar crimes," Dillon tweeted.

"Let's say this is true. It's a perfect example of how attacks on trans people are steeped in antisemitic tropes. The idea that a vulnerable community actually has unchecked power & controls the media: it’s antisemitism transferred to another group. On the day they were massacred," Nehorai wrote.

Dillon, who is a Christian, responded to another Twitter user by writing, "I am a Jew," and adding that he is "Ashkenazi."

Elon Musk announced last week that the the Babylon Bee, a popular satire site, had been reinstated on Twitter. Earlier this year, before Musk acquired the company, Twitter slapped the Bee down for a tweet about Rachel Levine, and the Bee declined to delete the offending post as Twitter demanded as a condition for unlocking the account.

Babylon Bee CEO: We won't delete this tweet www.youtube.com
