BREAKING: Body cam video of police beating Tyre Nichols released

Law enforcement officials released shocking body cam video from police related to the arrest of Tyre Nichols that may have led to his death three days later.

Nichols was pulled over for allegedly driving erratically on Jan. 7 when police said he was injured in an altercation with police. He was transported to a hospital in an ambulance but died three days later.

Police released four videos showing the arrest.

On Thursday, the five officers reportedly involved in the arrest were themselves arrested and charged with second-degree murder.

Officials worried that the release of the video would inspire violent protests and rioting in Memphis and other areas. RowVaughn Wells, the mother of Nichols, issued a statement asking for those angered by the death of her son to avoid violence.

“I want each and every one of you to protest in peace. I don’t want us burning up our city, tearing up the streets because that is not what my son stood for,” said Wells. “If you guys are here for Tyre and me, then you will protest peacefully.”

A GoFundMe memorial fund has been set up by the family.

Here's part of the video that was released:

Insane video shows gas station clerk shot in the face by brazen robber; somehow he escapes and is expected to survive

Shocking surveillance footage from Houston, Texas, captured the moment a robber entered a convenience store and shot the clerk in the face without warning before attempting to steal money from the cash register.

Amazingly, the clerk survived the shooting and was able to escape. His family has since reported that he remains in critical condition with a bullet lodged in his neck, but is expected to survive, according to KHOU-TV.

What happened?

The incident reportedly took place at a Chevron station northwest of downtown near Memorial Park on Monday night.

"The male walked up to the counter, pulled out a handgun, and without saying anything, shot the clerk in the face and his right hand. The suspect then jumped over the counter and punched the clerk several times," Houston police said following the incident, KXXV-TV reported.

Video of the attack released by police appears to show that the unidentified robber didn't offer a warning or make any demands before firing a shot directly at the clerk's face.

“That's the shocking thing, he doesn't even demand anything,” noted Houston Police Department Lt. Emanuel Pavel. “He just goes right up to him and shoots him right in the head. It's crazy. I just can't believe it.”

The suspect then hopped over the counter and punched the clerk in the face repeatedly before attempting to access the cash register. Ultimately, he was unable to open it and quickly fled the scene in a two-door newer-model black Mercedes Benz, police noted.

The clerk was miraculously able to get away as the suspect attempted to break into the register. He was later transported to a local hospital for treatment and, despite suffering serious injuries, is said to be alert and able to speak.

What else?

As of Wednesday afternoon, police were continuing to search for the suspect in the crime and asking members of the community to come forward with any information they may have.

The suspect is being described as a black male between the ages of 25 and 35 who is roughly six feet tall and weighs between 230 and 280 pounds. He was wearing a black jacket and tan pants at the time of the robbery.

In a news report, KHOU journalists called the attack "cold-blooded" and said the surveillance video makes it clear that the gunman had "zero regard for human life."

Chicago man faces murder charges for shooting death of 7-year-old Jaslyn Adams at McDonald's drive-thru

A Chicago man faces murder charges in connection with the death of 7-year-old Jaslyn Adams, who was shot and killed while in a vehicle with her father at a McDonald's drive-thru just after 4 p.m. on April 18.

Jaslyn was with her father, Jontae Adams, at the drive-thru lane of a McDonald's in the West Side of Chicago. The first-grader was shot six times and died of her gunshot wounds. The father was shot in the abdomen and survived the deadly shooting in the Homan Square neighborhood, a western suburb of Chicago.

Marion Lewis faces 18 felony charges, including first-degree murder, attempted murder, aggravated vehicular hijacking, and aggravated discharge of a firearm. Some of the charges are from a police chase on Thursday where Lewis crashed his car and then attempted to carjack another vehicle with a family inside. Illinois State Police said Lewis fired gunshots at police before Chicago Police Department officers returned fire and struck him in the arm.

Lewis was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries before being taken into custody. Lewis is expected to be in court on Sunday.

CPD said they recovered two guns from that scene, including an AK-47, WLS-TV reported. "Both those weapons that were on his person that were recovered, they did test positive to the murder weapons used at the scene to kill Jaslyn," CPD Chief of Detectives Brendan Deenihan said.

Police believe the shooting at the McDonald's that killed the young girl was gang-related, and the investigation is ongoing.

"We are saying at this point in the investigation that he was involved in the murder of Jaslyn Adams," Chicago police Supt. David Brown said of Lewis.

Law enforcement is still searching for other suspects in the case, but did not say how many suspects there are.

"We're limited in what we can say because we have other offenders to bring in on this horrific crime, but I will say the hard work of Area Four detectives and collaboration not only with suburban department officers as well as our district officers and a lot of technology has got us to this point," Brown told reporters. "But we're not done."

"You can run but you can't hide," Brown said. "We are going to bring you to justice for this crime. The Adams family deserves nothing less."

Adams' grandmother Lawanda McMullen said the family was "ecstatic" that Lewis was arrested, but called for anyone involved with the shooting death of the 7-year-old girl to "just turn yourself in."

"You know a 7-year-old girl she had nothing to do with that at all," McCullen said. "You know if you have any heart, you know if you have a child — just think about your family."

"We're overwhelmed, happy with some relief, but not a lot because they don't have all the suspects in custody," McMullen said of the arrest of Lewis.

McMullen described her young granddaughter, "I rarely ever seen her sad. Bubbly is the right word, very bubbly."
