Lauren Boebert reported to FBI for joking about Biden's teleprompter issues

Colorado Rep. Lauren Boebert (R) was reported to the FBI on Sunday after she made a joke about President Joe Biden's most recent teleprompter snafu.

The Republican lawmaker on Sunday tweeted, "We need to terminate this Presidency." She followed her statement with, "End quote. Repeat the line."

“We need to terminate this Presidency.

End quote. Repeat the line.”

It was a direct reference to Biden's speech on abortion Friday, during which he repeatedly read aloud his teleprompter cues and made other misstatements. The president announced that he had signed an executive order directing various federal agencies to protect abortion access after the Supreme Court ruled states may regulate abortion, overturning its Roe v. Wade decision.

During his speech, Biden recounted the story of a 10-year-old who purportedly was raped and had to travel from Ohio to Indiana to obtain an abortion because her home state had enacted an abortion ban.

“Ten years old and she was forced to travel out of the state to Indiana to seek to terminate the presidency and maybe save her life,” Biden said Friday, mistakenly substituting the work "presidency" for "pregnancy."

Biden made several other errors for which he was mocked on social media. After reading a quote from the majority opinion in Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health Organization, for example, Biden said "repeat the line." It was an instruction to repeat the quote, not a statement he was supposed to make in his address.

Several times during Biden's speech, he also said "end of quote" after reciting a quote. "End of quote" is a normal teleprompter cue to let the speaker know that the quote he or she is citing is over.

Boebert's tweet declaring that the presidency must be "terminated" was clearly making fun of Biden's speech. But humorless Twitter users mass-reported the tweet to the FBI, as well as the Department of Homeland Security and the Justice Department, claiming she was inciting violence against the president.

Progressive pundit Keith Olbermann said Boebert's "gun-humping fetishism crossed the line from mind-numbingly MAGA-ism to something @fbi @TheJusticeDept and @SecretService needs to be visiting her about, today." His tweet was part of a thread about the "worst persons in the world."

Writer Tara Dublin accused Boebert of making "a threat against the legitimately elected President of the United States."

"Lock her up, @FBI. End quote. Repeat the line with the rest of the Sedition Caucus," Dublin tweeted.

“Well, that sure sounds like a threat against the legitimately elected President of the United States, Squeaky

Lock her up, @FBI. End quote. Repeat the line with the rest of the Sedition Caucus #LouderThanMAGA”

Another verified user asked the FBI if Boebert's tweet qualified as a "terroristic threat."

Dozens of other unverified accounts called on federal law enforcement to investigate Boebert's tweet, with hysteric references to the Jan. 6 riot at the U.S. Capitol and names like "white supremacist terrorist" thrown at Boebert. All because of a joke.

But these complaints raise the question, if "terminate this presidency" is a violent threat, what is "terminate this pregnancy"?

Biden accuser Tara Reade says it was 'unspeakably hard to watch the man who assaulted me' take the oath of office

Tara Reade, the former aide to Joe Biden who accused the then-senator of sexual assault, said that watching Inauguration Day was especially painful for her this year.

What's a brief history here?

In 2020, Reade accused the former senator of forcibly kissing her and digitally penetrating her without her consent during an incident she said took place in 1993.

President Joe Biden has categorically denied all of Reade's allegations.

"Look at Tara Reade's story, it changes considerably," he said at one time.

In further response to the controversy stemming from the allegations, Biden said that he wouldn't vote for himself if he believed the woman's assertions, either.

"If they believe Tara Reade, they probably shouldn't vote for me," Biden said when asked what he'd say to women who believe Reade and are struggling with the idea of supporting him. "I wouldn't vote for me if I believed Tara Reade."

What are the details?

According to a Wednesday report from the Daily Caller News Foundation, Reade said that President Biden's inauguration was "unspeakably hard to watch."

"Coming forward about being sexually harassed and assaulted in 1993 when I was Joe Biden's staffer was excruciating on so many levels," Reade said. "Biden used his power and resources with certain media to erase me and silence me."

She added, "I stand in solidarity with all survivors coming up against such power. I will not be silenced. Instead of talking about saving the country's soul he should be held accountable for his actions. The hard part is I believe in many policies that will move forward as I am a progressive Independent but it is unspeakably hard to watch the man who assaulted me go to the most powerful position in the land."

On Wednesday, Reade also tweeted, "Today is yet again another difficult day for survivors of sexual violence. While I'm thankful Trump was defeated, the man who assaulted me as our president is still terribly painful. I will be sharing resources for survivors today for #Inauguration2021."

WATCH: Biden tells young girls he wants to see them 'dance when they're four years older'

"The bad news for you is I'm coming back. I'm coming back. And I want to see these beautiful young ladies, I want to see them dancing when they're four years older too."

Demands intensify for Joe Rogan to host next presidential debate following Chris Wallace's performance

Much of social media called on comedian and podcaster Joe Rogan to moderate the next presidential debate after Fox News' Chris Wallace's heavily criticized performance during Tuesday night's first presidential debate.

Social media criticized Wallace during — and after — the debate, saying that he was largely useless in actually moderating a the debate between President Donald Trump and former vice president and Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden.

What did people say about Wallace?

Journalist Soledad O'Brien tweeted, "Hellllo Chris Wallace??? Looking for a moderator here. Jesus Christ what a fricken mess."

Former GOP strategist Steve Schmidt added, "Chris Wallace has completely lost control of this debate."

CNN's Oliver Darcy said Tuesday night, "[Wallace] lost control of the debate early, and failed to ever regain order. It appeared as if Wallace were pleading with Trump to respect the forum like a parent would plead an out-of-control child to behave."

Comedy Central host Trevor Noah chimed in, "Chris Wallace's debate performance tonight is a great reminder that kindergarten teachers are underpaid."

Commentator and former CNN, Fox News, and NBC anchor Greta Van Susteren added, "This is why Chris Wallace lost control of the debate — his first question was not about what either would do for the country going forward but designed to create a fight. Once you lose control of a debate, you can't regain..."

Van Susteren shared Wallace's first question in a screenshot, which read, "My first question to both of you tonight, why are you right in the argument you make and your opponent wrong? And where do you think a Justice Barrett would take the court? President Trump, in this first segment, you go first. Two minutes."

Jeremy Boreing, the Daily Wire's co-founder and co-CEO, wrote, "How does Chris Wallace keep his job? I understand the defense of his treatment of Trump during interviews and largely agree, but this was a presidential debate. His performance was as bad as we've ever seen. Disgraceful."

Legions of other social media users issued the same sentiment: that Wallace failed in his duties to maintain a semblance of order or decorum during the first 2020 presidential debate.

What did people say about Rogan?

Rogan himself recently offered to moderate one of the 2020 presidential debates.

During a recent episode of his podcast, "The Joe Rogan Experience," Rogan set forth his ideal conditions.

"First of all, I want no one else in the room, just the three of us," he said. "And you'd have to stream it live so no one can edit it, and I would want them in there for hours. ... If they wanted to do that — they both wanted to come here in Austin [Texas], sit down and have a debate — I would 100 percent do it."

The president himself heard word of Rogan's early September remarks and signed off on the proposal, writing "I do!" to a Twitter user who shared the news and wrote, "[W]ho wants this [to happen]?"

Cyclist Lance Armstrong tweeted, "What happened to this idea that @joerogan ought to host a presidential debate?! Time to restart that conversation."

He wasn't the only one — by far.

MMA fighter Tara LaRosa added, "Joe Rogan should have run this debate #Debates2020."

Journalist Tim Pool chimed in, tweeting, "I feel bad for Chris Wallace[.] Stop bringing in these old fogies and bring in someone with the skill and an understanding of modern media[.] We all know Joe Rogan is the only one who can handle a real debate between Biden and Trump[.]"

A petition calling for the very same scenario gained traction in 2019.

A portion of the Change.org petition says Rogan would be the perfect moderator because he has "revolutionized the way political interview and discussion works, as he has provided a long-form media format that has allowed the exchange of ideas to be fully explored."

At the time of this reporting, the online petition has received more than 285,000 signatures in support.

Anything else?

The second presidential debate is set for Oct. 15 in Miami, Florida, with C-SPAN's Steve Scully as moderator.

A third and final debate is set for Oct. 22 in Nashville, Tennessee, with NBC News' Kristen Welker as moderator.
