Stephen King tries to mock Ted Cruz and gets decimated over the border crisis

Republican Sen. Ted Cruz fired back at Stephen King after the liberal author tried to mock him on the issue of the crisis at the U.S.-Mexico border.

Cruz had posted a video of his interview on Fox News to Twitter when King mocked him by referencing a trip to Cancun Cruz took when an energy crisis left many Texans without power during a brutal snowstorm in February 2021.

"I spend a lot of time at the southern border. I've spent a lot of time with our border patrol agents. It's never been remotely this bad. This is an invasion & our families are less safe because Joe Biden is president," Cruz tweeted.

"You’ve also spent a lot of time in Cancun. That’s pretty south, right?" King mocked.

Cruz fired back on Monday.

"Multi-millionaire Leftist @StephenKing sits in his mansion in Maine and laughs at the kids being abused & the women being sexually assaulted on our Southern border," Cruz responded.

"He doesn’t give a damn about their suffering—or about the 853 migrants who died last year or the 100k Americans who died of drug overdoses," he added.

"Nope. What does he want to talk about? Cancun," Cruz concluded.

The crisis of the border has worsened greatly under President Joe Biden's first term as more and more migrants have crossed into the U.S. ostensibly seeking asylum.

The "Remain in Mexico" immigration policy instituted during the Trump administration allowed the government to require asylum applicants to stay outside of the U.S. while their applications were processed. That law has been rescinded on the basis that the pandemic had led to a public health crisis that granted the government extraordinary powers.

Ted Cruz reports from the border: Cartels are 'taunting' American Border Patrol

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) on Thursday night shared video from the southern border that appears to show individuals with flashlights on the Mexican side of the Rio Grande river yelling at the Americans on the other side. Cruz said these were drug cartel members and human smugglers taunting Border Patrol agents.

Cruz and Sen. John Cornyn (R-Texas) led a Senate delegation to the U.S.-Mexico border this week to observe how federal law enforcement is handling the recent migrant surge. In a tweet, Cruz said, "We encountered human traffickers & cartel members tonight, yelling at us across the Rio Grande and preparing to cross."

"So it's past midnight, I'm standing on the shore of the Rio Grande — the water is right behind me. I'm down at the Texas border along with 18 senators. We made the trip to see the crisis that is playing out," Cruz said in a second video.

Cruz described visiting "overrun" detention facilities operated by CBP used to hold migrants who were apprehended attempting to cross into the United States illegally. Cruz said he saw families, including mothers nursing infants, "housed in outdoor holding pens where they were sleeping on the floor."

Customs and Border Protection reported encountering over 100,000 migrants at the southern border in February, the highest number for the month of February since 2006. There are more than 15,000 unaccompanied minor children in the custody of the federal government

Pointing across the Rio Grande river, Cruz said his delegation saw drug cartel members and human traffickers waving flashlights, "yelling and taunting Americans, taunting the Border Patrol."

He blamed the Biden administration's policies for encouraging illegal immigration and strengthening the cartels.

"They know that under the current policy of the Biden administration they can flood over here — they're getting paid $4,000-$5,000 a person to smuggle them into this country," Cruz said. "And our policies, when they smuggle them in, the Biden administration releases them."

"This is a humanitarian crisis, it's a public health crisis," Cruz continued, noting that many of the illegal immigrants being released by the Biden administration are testing positive for COVID-19 "at a seven times higher rate than the American population."

"It's a national security crisis. And it's time for the Biden administration to put an end to it and stop sanctioning lawless chaos on our southern border."

What about the 'kids in cages'? Ted Cruz SOUNDS OFF on the Left’s border crisis HYPOCRISY

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) joined Glenn Beck on the radio program Thursday to explain how "rabid partisanship" is causing President Joe Biden and his administration to make the political decisions directly responsible for the "absolute crisis at the border" — and it's getting worse every day.

Cruz described how the Biden administration is caving to the "hard left" agenda that supports open borders and views U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement as the equivalent of the Ku Klux Klan or Nazis. He listed the Trump-era policies Biden has overturned, including halting construction of the border wall, re-instituting the failed policy of "catch and release," and ending the "Remain in Mexico" policy — "a big foreign policy victory of the Trump administration."

Cruz then sounded off on the left's unbelievable hypocrisy concerning the "kids in cages" narrative, and the Biden administration's "laughable" excuse for not allowing journalists access to border facilities.

"For four years of the Trump presidency, Democrats and the media talked every day about kids in cages. What they ignored is that Barack Obama built the cages. You and I both went to those cages during the Obama administration," Cruz told Glenn. "They utterly ignored that. And now, Joe Biden is making the cages bigger, and they're more full. And I'll tell you, it's truly a catastrophe. You take a facility, like the Donna facility in South Texas. It has a capacity of 250 people ... it currently has nearly 4,000."

"So, there's a reason why the Biden administration is trying to hide it. I'm flying down to the border tonight, and I'm bringing 18 senators down to the border to see firsthand what's happening. But the Biden administration is refusing to allow press to join us," Cruz continued.

"They won't allow reporters in and, Glenn, their justification is laughable on its face. They say, the reason why they won't allow reporters in is because reporters might have COVID. So one cameraman, a cameraman, and they say, 'No, too big of a COVID risk. We can't let the guy with the camera in.' It's because they want to hide the absolute disaster," he added. "You want to talk about COVID-19? Glenn, I'll give you a stunning statistic. Of the illegal immigrants that are being released in Arlington, Texas, they are testing positive for COVID-19 at a rate seven times higher than the U.S. population."
