13-year-old punk accused of stealing woman's purse, punching her, throwing her to ground; but he's soon kissing concrete, too

Seattle police released new video Wednesday depicting what they say shows a 13-year-old male stealing a woman's purse, throwing her to the ground, and punching her in the face, KOMO-TV reported.

The clip also shows officers arresting the suspect, the station said, adding that it all took place April 6.

What are the details?

Officers were called to a pharmacy in the 2600 block of Southwest Barton Street over reports of a strong-arm robbery, police told KOMO.

A woman told police she and an employee confronted a group of teens inside the store for not paying for items, the station said, adding that the woman told police one of the teens approached her and took her purse before running toward the exit.

Officials told KOMO the woman chased after the teen and caught up to him at the store's entrance.

But the teen grabbed her shirt and threw her to the ground, police told the station.

When she got back up to chase him, the teen punched her in the face, KOMO added.

Surveillance video shows the teen squaring up to the woman like a boxer, seemingly daring her to fight him — and that's when he's seen walloping her with a left hook:

Police said the teen suspect and group ran eastbound on Southwest Barton Street, KOMO said.

The victim called police, and officers found the suspect and two other teens near 18th Avenue Southwest and Southwest Barton Street, police told the station.

But it didn't appear to be an easy collar; video shows the kid lunging forward before cops surround him and introduce him to the surface of the street.

KOMO reported that the 13-year-old male was arrested and booked into the Judge Patricia H. Clark Children and Family Justice Center for investigation of robbery. Police added to the station that the two others were identified and released, the station said.

Pennsylvania teen makes shocking confession after allegedly killing mother, stabbing 11-year-old brother

A teenage girl in Pennsylvania allegedly admitted that she killed her mother and stabbed her 11-year-old brother during an argument that turned violent. She told officers, "I'm the reason my mom is dead," according to the New York Post.

Lataya Powell, 13, admitted to going on a violent rampage when the authorities showed up at a home on South Sherman Street in Wilkes-Barre around 12:30 p.m. According to the criminal complaint, Powell said, “I killed my mom and she’ll never forgive me if she is alive."

The girl's mother, Tameeka Tucker, reportedly suffered severe injuries to her head and torso area. Her 11-year-old brother was discovered lying on the couch with stab wounds in his back, but his injuries were not considered life-threatening, according to a second report.

The Daily Mail reported that Tucker had taken Powell's phone before the dispute turned violent. Powell told the authorities, "I don't have my phone because my mom took it before our fight." However, it's still unclear if Powell getting her phone taken away was the issue that ignited the violent stabbing.

The teenage girl was taken into custody and charged as an adult with homicide, two counts of aggravated assault, and a final charge of tampering with evidence. Though the authorities didn't find any evidence of a weapon at the scene, they found that there were padlocks on kitchen drawers and cabinets inside the home.

When Powell was confronted by the police, she said she threw the knife onto a neighbor's doorstep, according to reports. "I'm the reason my mom is dead," Powell said, going on to say, "I don't know how people can do stuff like this and not feel bad about it."

When a reporter asked Powell if she felt anything following the attack, the teenager simply replied, "Regret, guilt, and self-disgust."

The neighbor, whose doorstep the knife was found on, was reportedly working in the backyard when the horrific stabbing took place.

“I’m just thankful I wasn’t out here because you never know what could’ve happened, but I look at it that something good could come out of this and that she can get the help she needs,” the neighbor said, who was not identified.

“My prayers go out to the family and I’m sorry this happened."

Powell is currently being held at the Luzerne County Jail, and she is expected to have a preliminary hearing on April 10.

Shooting at teen's birthday party leaves at least 4 dead, more than 20 injured; police chief requests prayers

A mass shooting at a teen's birthday party Saturday left at least four people dead and more than 20 others injured, Fox News Digital reported.

"[This] may be a little tough," Dadeville's Police Chief Jonathan Floyd said in a press conference Sunday morning alongside the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency and other officials.

"The city of Dadeville is a tight-knit community full of wonderful people,"he added.

"What we've dealt with is something that no community should have to endure ... I earnestly solicit your prayers."

"There were four lives tragically lost in this incident, and there have been a multitude of injuries" ALEA's Sgt. Jeremy Burkett said.

The shooting took place Saturday night at the Mahogany Masterpiece dance studio in Dadeville, according to the Montgomery Advertiser.

Teens had gathered at the 220 N. Broadnax Street location for a "sweet 16" birthday celebration, WRBL reported.

Witnesses told WRBL the majority of the injured were teens, but this has not yet been confirmed by authorities.

Authorities had released few details about the incident after working the horrific scene overnight.
"One of the young men that was killed was one of our star athletes and just a great guy. So I knew many of these students. Dadeville is a small town and this is going to affect everybody in this area," Dadeville Police chaplain Pastor Ben Hayes told the Associated Press.
"This morning, I grieve with the people of Dadeville and my fellow Alabamians. Violent crime has NO place in our state, and we are staying closely updated by law enforcement as details emerge," Alabama's Governor Kay Ivey (R) tweeted Sunday morning.

Amber Alert teen killed during shootout between police and her dad: Report

Amber Alert teen killed during shootout between police and her dad: Report

A young girl who had been the subject of an Amber Alert was reportedly struck and killed during a shootout between her father and police.

On Monday, police issued an Amber Alert for Savanna Graziano, 15, of Fontana, California, about an hour east of Los Angeles. Police feared that she had been abducted by her father, Anthony Graziano, after he supposedly murdered Tracy Martinez, the girl's mother, during a domestic incident.

At the time, Anthony Graziano, 45, was considered armed and dangerous. The alert included a description of Graziano's vehicle and a license plate.

On Tuesday, a motorist spotted the vehicle and reported it to law enforcement. When police caught up with the suspect, he was traveling southbound on I-15, headed toward L.A. He and police then began exchanging gun fire. At some point near Victorville, the suspect's car became disabled.

When the car came to a stop, someone inside continued to fire at police. Savanna Graziano then reportedly exited the vehicle, wearing a tactical helmet and a "trauma plate" such as those inserted into a bulletproof vest, and ran toward police. Savanna was then struck by a bullet, though it is unclear whether the bullet came from police or from the suspect.

After police secured the scene, Savanna was given medical assistance and transported to an area hospital, where she was pronounced dead. The suspect also reportedly died of a gunshot wound in the incident.

San Bernardino Sheriff Shannon Dicus shared these details with reporters during a press conference he held on Tuesday. However, he cautioned that "[t]his all still needs to be confirmed and is preliminary information."

Dicus did not say how many times Savanna or Anthony had been struck. He did confirm that one firearm — an AR-15-type rifle — was recovered from the suspect's vehicle. He also alleged that a gun from the suspect's vehicle put "several rounds through the windshield of the patrol unit."

One deputy was injured by shrapnel during the event and is reportedly in stable condition.

Dicus also added that there "may be some indication" that Savanna shot at police as well, and Fox 11 Los Angeles reported that the shots directed at police came from the passenger side of the suspect's vehicle.

Watch: California teen girl shoves bear off wall with her bare hands as it threatens her dogs

A Southern California teenager is receiving global attention after video went viral showing her shoving a mama bear off a wall using her bare hands as the predator threatened her dogs.

What are the details?

Hailey Morinico, 17, was captured on video rushing to save her family's four pet dogs as a mother bear with two cubs in tow sat on a wall in the back yard of her Bradbury home, swatting at the pets as they barked.

The bear was seen in the footage with her two babies walking on top of the barrier when one of Morinico's large dogs ran up barking at the bear. The mama bear swatted at the large dog, and Morinico sprang into action when the bear then started swatting at one of the smaller dogs.

"The dog that the bear grabbed, she's the baby," Morinico told KNBC-TV. "I have to protect the baby."

The teen recalled to the outlet that after she pushed the bear the predator fell back, then "the dog she grabbed ran away and I pick up my other dog and I scram."

The Daily Mail reported that in a TikTok video posted following the incident, Morinico said of the bear, "To be honest I don't think I pushed her that hard, I just pushed her enough to lose her balance."

The teen came out relatively unscathed from the incident, with a sprained finger and a scraped knee.

Morinico's mother posted on Facebook that her daughter "'Just saved our dog with super human strength," describing the scene as, "for me one of the scariest moments in life.'

'She sent the video on our family group chat and I just knew people would think it was crazy so I posted it. We did not expect this much of a reaction though!' her cousin Stephanie Lopez Villalobos, who posted the video of the rescue, told the Daily Mail.

'She's a crazy brave 17 year old!'

NBC News noted that according to experts, "squaring off with a bear should be avoided by humans at all costs."

Maryland cop fatally shoots teen who allegedly threatened him with what turned out to be an airsoft gun

A Maryland State Police trooper responding to two "suspicious person" calls fatally shot a 16-year-old who allegedly threatened the officer with a knife and what turned out to be an airsoft gun, authorities said Tuesday.

What are the details?

Superintendent Woodrow Jones said during a new conference that the initial 911 caller in Leonardtown reported saying they believed the "guy" had a gun, before hanging up on the dispatcher. The second caller gave a street address for the individual purportedly acting suspiciously.

Jones said that a witness described the teen, Peyton Ham, standing in a driveway in "a shooting stance, pointing a gun at the trooper" when he arrived alone. Ham allegedly told the officer he also had a knife. The officer then shot the teen, wounding him.

According to Jones, another witness claimed "Ham then pulled out a knife and tried to get up," the Associated Press reported. The trooper says he told Ham to drop the knife, but the teen allegedly refused, so the officer shot him a second time.

Fellow officers who later responded to assist at the scene rendered aid to Ham, who was taken to a hospital and later died.

According to the AP, both the trooper and Ham are white. There is no body camera footage or dashcam footage of the incident.

Anything else?

Online observers drew a correlation between the Maryland shooting and the 2014 high-profile death of the black 12-year-old Tamir Rice, who was killed by an officer in Cleveland while holding what was later found to be an airsoft pistol.

Rice was shot "within two seconds" of officers arriving and seeing the child at Cudell Park, while responding to a report of a man with a gun. The pre-teen's replica gun was missing the telltale orange tip that is typically affixed to the non-lethal toy guns.

Officer Timothy Loehmann, who killed Rice, did not face charges in the incident that officials called "a perfect storm of human error."

Columbia University associate professor John McWhorter tweeted of the Maryland shooting, "I have often written that we simply never hear about whites killed by cops in the same ways as blacks. But I've never quite known of a parallel to one case: what happened to Tamir Rice - till now."

— John McWhorter (@John McWhorter)1618430685.0

McWhorter received mixed reviews and further calls for discussion over drawing the connection.

One person wrote, "You're ignoring that the police initially claimed that Rice pulled a gun on them. It was only the video footage that proved the police were lying. In this case there is no video footage and for some reason you're backing the police version without any verification."

Another added, "Also, now having read this story (assuming it's true which is not a given yet) this person is not similar to Tamir Rice at all, his having a knife on him and pointing the rifle at the cop. Tamir Rice was a kid whiling away his time. Cops pulled up and shot him in a millisecond."

Someone else replied, "I agree that knowing the details after the fact we can see a difference. But how is it different from the officers perspective when they have a gun of any kind pointed at them?"
