Lorne’s Prime Time

In a season five episode of the estimable sitcom 30 Rock, itself based on the goings-on of a network television show closely modeled on Saturday Night Live, the writer and producer Aaron Sorkin makes a cameo as himself. Introduced to Tina Fey’s ever-acerbic head writer Liz Lemon, Sorkin demands they execute his signature walk-and-talk power move, as she excitedly lists the various award-winning films and television shows that he has been involved in. There is, however, one exception. When she mentions the name of Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip, a Sorkin-created drama that purported to go behind the scenes on a show equally closely modeled on SNL, Sorkin simply says, “Shut up”—a nod to the series’s swift cancellation after a single season, Sorkin’s sole show not to be renewed.

Elon Musk: AI has the potential to DESTROY human civilization

Elon Musk recently went on Tucker Carlson's show, and one of the most alarming topics was artificial intelligence. Not only does it bring the potential loss of jobs, but according to Elon, AI is being trained to lie to us.

“What’s happening is they’re training the AI to lie,” Elon says. He informs Tucker that it’s being trained not to say what the data actually demands that it say.

Keith Malinak of "Pat Gray Unleashed" comments, “Maybe now he sees that a bigger threat than climate change is AI.”

Elon confirms Malinak’s belief, saying “AI is more dangerous than, say, mismanaged aircraft design or production maintenance or bad car production,” in the sense that “it has the potential of a civilizational destruction.”

Pat Gray says it’s already well on its way to fulfilling that potential.

“They’re trying to do it right now. They’ve got that Chaos GPT that is programmed to destroy civilization. Why would you do that?”

“It’s asinine. It’s suicidal,” he warns.

Even the Google CEO has admitted that he doesn’t fully understand how AI works — especially the Google AI.

According to Gray, Google AI “taught itself a new language” and “invented fake data to advance one of its ideas.”

However, Gray has hope.

“It might not be all that difficult to outsmart these AI machines right now,” he says, “while we still have the advantage and the upper hand on them.”
