Theo Von explains why he is no longer a Bernie-loving Democrat: 'There's certainly an attack on white males'

Comedian and podcaster Theo Von explained why he went from identifying as a Democrat and supporting a socialist senator to being sympathetic to President-elect Donald Trump.

Von was speaking to Prof. Scott Galloway on the comedian's podcast when he made the comments about his place in the political environment. The 44-year-old said he had been a supporter of socialist Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.).

'I definitely see it as a lot of people feel embarrassed to be white, you know, and that's a shame because you didn't choose to be white.'

"You look at [Joe] Rogan used to be a Democrat. He was a leftist. I'm a Bernie fan. It's like these people f***in' alienated my heroes in the Democratic Party. It's gotten, like, very bizarre," said Von.

"I mean the political part of it is very bizarre to me," he added. "But there is a lot about what you're saying. A man wants to feel like it's okay to be a man, and sometimes you leave the house like: 'Is it okay to be a man? Do I have to check my d*** at the door of this restaurant or whatever?' It feels like that sometimes, you know, and it's not how somebody should feel. I think it's great that we're talking about this."

Trump appeared on Von's show just ahead of the election, and many believe the campaign's focus on alternative media outlets helped lead to his stunning victory.

Elsewhere in the podcast, Von also talked about the shaming of white males in society.

"There's certainly an attack on white males, it feels like. And then if you're white, ... you can't be like, 'Hey, can we do a white help group?' Because suddenly you're racist. There's definitely this shaming of being in white skin," Von said.

"We're constantly doing that, reliving the past or refocusing on the past and using it as a scope to aim at the present, you know, and it's not very fair," he added. "I definitely see it as a lot of people feel embarrassed to be white, you know, and that's a shame because you didn't choose to be white. And a lot of white people didn't have s***, dude. You know what I'm saying?"

Bernie Sanders BLOWS Theo Von’s mind as he explains how Democrats stole the election from him

Comedian and podcaster Theo Von has been on fire with his interviews lately — and his sit-down with Bernie Sanders is no exception.

Which is why Dave Rubin of “The Rubin Report” shared a timely clip from “This Past Weekend” during which Sanders admits that the Democratic Party robbed him of winning the Democratic Party's nomination after he won the first few primaries.

“I felt like you didn’t get treated fairly, to be honest,” Von tells Sanders of his run for Democratic presidential nominee.

“That’s what happens when you take on the establishments. What happened is we won the first three primaries, and then the establishment got very, very nervous,” Sanders explains. “There were a whole lot of candidates in the Democratic primary, and they said, ‘Hey, it’d be a good idea if you all dropped out, let Joe Biden be the one candidate.’”

“Do they call? Is there a call that you get and it’s like you’re not going to move forward?” Von asks, adding, “How does the establishment work?”

“What happened is I won the popular vote in Iowa. I won the New Hampshire primary. I won the Nevada primary. And those were the first three, and then the front page of the New York Times: ‘Democratic Establishment very nervous Bernie Sanders could win the whole thing.’”

Sanders said pressure was applied to the other candidates to drop out in order for Biden to win, and once they did, everyone rallied around the current president.

“Do you think that our election process is still Democratic?” Von asks.

“Yes and no,” Sanders responds. “If you’re going to win, and I have 10 times more money than you do, I will beat you 95% of the time. I mean, that’s a fact.”

“In terms of who has the real power, money people do. And I use the term oligarchy, and oligarchy is a society where small numbers of very wealthy people control the economic and political life of the country. I think we are moving rapidly in that direction,” he adds.

“It feels like an almost privatized communism in a way,” Von responds.

“That’s a very good point,” Sanders says, pleasantly surprised.

Here’s what’s WRONG with modern comedy according to Adam DeVine and Theo Von

Actors and writers in Hollywood are angry about a number of things. Unfair wages, fear of AI taking over the industry, and concerns about health care and pensions are the three main causes of the strike.

However, some actors have a fourth grievance to air: wokeness.

Actor Adam DeVine joins comedian Theo Von to discuss what’s wrong with modern comedy.

“There used to be something like … 45 or 46 comedies in the theaters every year,” DeVine tells Von, but “last year, there was only like six or seven.”

“The crazy thing is it feels like people need comedy more than ever,” Von adds.

DeVine just starred in a comedy called "The Out-Laws," which hit Netflix on July 7, and he loves the film because it’s all hilarity and zero brainwashing – “There’s no hidden message,” he says.

Unfortunately, it’s not uncommon for people to “get to the end of what [they thought was] a comedy” only to discover that the film was actually “about global warming,” DeVine continues.

“Oh! The moon is trans?” Von jokes. “Is that the surprise ending?”

“Once you allow [wokeness] in, it will destroy the whole freaking thing,” Dave Rubin comments.
