Journalist thrown in jail after reporting on pro-Hamas rally in Canada: 'Because I'm a Jew'

Canadian police arrested a Jewish journalist Sunday after pro-Hamas radicals made clear that his presence would not be tolerated in a public space.

Ezra Levant, the conservative publisher of Rebel News — one of the few media outfits in Canada that does not receive funding from the Trudeau government — was reporting on a pro-Hamas demonstration near Bathurst Street and Sheppard Avenue, a historically Jewish neighborhood in Toronto. Levant was keen to capture some of the radicals' comments and costumes on film, including one demonstrator who dressed up as Yahya Al-Sinwar, the terrorist leader of Hamas whom Israeli forces killed in October.

Pro-Hamas radicals at the rally also held signs featuring the inverted red triangle, a symbol used by Hamas' Al-Qassam Brigades to identify Israeli military targets.

In footage from the pro-Hamas rally, which took place opposite a pro-Israel counter-demonstration, radicals can be heard condemning Israel as well as celebrating Hezbollah, even though, like Hamas, the group is currently listed by the Canadian government as a terrorist entity.

Although Levant was lawfully exercising his rights in a public space, police swooped in to remove him when it became clear he had prickled the mob with his efforts to peacefully chronicle the event.

"Police arrested me for 'causing a disturbance' when I was silently filming a pro-Hamas protest in a Jewish neighborhood in Toronto," Levant told Blaze News. "The cops said that my mere presence was causing a disturbance because the pro-Hamas people didn't want me there."

'I am the law.'

Officers swarmed Levant then forcefully carted him away while pro-Hamas radicals yelled, "Get him out! Get him out!" and "Go home!"

"Since when do foreign provocateurs, promoting a banned terrorist organization, get to veto who can and can't walk on a sidewalk?" Levant told Blaze News. "Outrageous."

Blaze News reached out to the Toronto Police Services for comment but did not receive a response by deadline. When asked for comment, the City of Toronto referred Blaze News to the TPS.

In the lead-up to his arrest, Levant can be seen in one video discussing the absurdity of his removal with an officer who told him, "Look around you. They're not happy that you're here."

"You know you're a disgrace," Levant told the officer. "You're a coward also. You'll do what they say because it's the path of least resistance."

When instructed to leave the area, Levant, a former lawyer, told the officer, "You're violating my Charter rights."

The officer responded by insinuating Levant was inciting the mob, then informed the journalist, "I am the law."

Another officer chimed in, asking Levant, "So you're refusing to leave? ... Why?"

"Because I'm a Jew, I'm a citizen, and I'm your boss," said the journalist.

"You know what?" responded the officer. "In the interest of keeping peace here, public safety, you're under arrest for breach of the peace."

Pro-Hamas demonstrators cheered while police handcuffed Levant and carted him away.

Levant, appearing somewhat shaken by the turn of events, told his cameraman, "I'm being arrested because I'm standing on a sidewalk in my city. I'm a Jew who lives in this neighborhood, and I'm being arrested because the police say that that's the path of least resistance."

Levant told Blaze News, "Police handcuffed, searched and jailed me for a few hours, but in the end they declined to press charges. It was obviously 'the path of least resistance.' They knew I’d be compliant, whereas the pro-Hamas thugs have been on a rioting rampage in Canada recently (e.g. in Montreal)."

Pro-Hamas and anti-NATO radicals backed by over 25 leftist groups took to the streets of Montreal Friday, launching incendiary devices, torching vehicles, attacking first responders, and vandalizing storefronts while Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau — whose electoral district, or riding, is in the city — was busy dancing at the Taylor Swift concert in Toronto.

David Menzies, a reporter at Levant's Rebel News, was similarly arrested earlier this year on multiple occasions for daring to cover pro-Hamas rallies, including one at Toronto City Hall.

'It's a public place!'

Thousands of people, including Conservative Party leader Pierre Poilievre, gathered for an event on April 7 focused on demands for the release of the remaining Israeli captives taken hostage by Hamas terrorists on Oct. 7, 2023. Anti-Israel demonstrators tried to crash the event.

"Incredibly, there was a protest of a few dozen people — the pro-Hamas types — which was particularly gross because to me this was like crashing a funeral," Menzies told Blaze News following his release. "They're spouting their rhetoric, which by the way includes calls for genocide like, 'from the river to the sea,' and 'intifada.'"

Menzies attempted to interview elements of the mob outside of city hall but was allegedly assaulted. Police intervened — not to help but to arrest the reporter.

"It's a public place!" Menzies told one of the arresting officers in an apparent state of disbelief. "This is literally the public square."

Menzies later told Blaze News he was charged for alleged breach of the peace and trespassing.

Menzies, like Levant, is accustomed to abuse by the state. After all, he was allegedly assaulted by Trudeau's bodyguards in 2021; roughed up by an RCMP officer, then carted away by York Regional Police after asking Trudeau's deputy minister questions in January; and arrested both on Nov. 11 and in March for asking pro-Hamas protesters questions.

Canada is hardly the only Western nation where the sensitivities of pro-Hamas activists and other radicals are given priority over other citizens' rights.

Blaze News reported earlier this year that London's Metropolitan Police threatened to arrest Gideon Falter, the head of the Campaign Against Antisemitism, if he remained in an area of the city where pro-Hamas demonstrators were marching.

'Sir, you are quite openly Jewish.'

Footage of the confrontation showed Falter, wearing a kippah, ask a police sergeant, "So basically, because I'm Jewish, I can't cross the road today?"

"Because of the march," said the sergeant.

Falter pressed the issue, saying, "Yes, because I am Jewish?"

"That is part of — unfortunately part of the fact," said the sergeant.

The sergeant, who ultimately threatened to arrest Falter for breach of the peace, made a point of noting, "At the moment, sir, you are quite openly Jewish."

Last week, Barbara Slowik, Berlin's chief of police, admitted to the German newspaper Berline Zeitung that "there are areas — and we have to be honest here — where I would advise people who wear a kippah or are openly gay or lesbian to be more alert."

Slowik said she wouldn't "defame any groups of people here" but acknowledged that "there are certain neighborhoods where the majority of people liv[ing there] are of Arab descent, who also have sympathies for terrorist groups."

Dystopian nightmare: Canadian police threaten journalist with jail time over bogus 'hate crime'

Ezra Levant has many different titles — lawyer, journalist, author, political activist, and founder of Rebel News, “which is a lot like Blaze News in some ways,” says Glenn Beck.

He’s also a target for the authoritarian Canadian government.

Levant and his Rebel News team have been “outspoken” when it comes to Canada’s crusade against free speech (and just freedom in general), and it’s made him an enemy of the state.

“The Canadian government has been after [Levant and his team] for a long time,” says Glenn, adding that Levant is “now having to fight the censorship bill” that Canada passed last year.

“It looks like he may be facing prison time because of ‘hate speech,”’ which we know is just a catchall phrase for anything the government doesn’t want said.

“Toronto, Canada, where I live, is the site of a pro Hamas encampment,” Levant tells Glenn. “There's screaming, mask-wearing thugs marching through the city every week ... besetting synagogues and residential areas. There was a Jewish school that was shot up a few weeks ago. ... It's an anti-Semitic crime wave.”

However, when Rebel News “drove [its] jumbo tron truck around the city, showing some of the scenes of Hamas thugs threatening to kill people, blocking the downtown streets, [and] having a mass prayer gridlocking the city ... the police chief made an announcement on Twitter that he was investigating [the team] for a hate crime.”

DYSTOPIAN: Canadian Police Threaten Journalist with JAIL Over Bogus “Hate Crime”youtu.be

“The fact that we showed those things [meant] we were conducting a hate crime, and [the police chief] announced his investigation in advance, declaring it an Islamophobic hate crime,” Levant explains.

“If [he and his team are] convicted ... under this provision of the Canadian criminal code, it's a two-year prison sentence.”

“The very next day,” following the announcement of the investigation, “I got in the jumbo tron truck, and I drove it, and I parked it right outside the headquarters of the police chief,” Levant recounts, “and I walked into the main police police station in Toronto, and I said, ‘I'm here to see the chief.'”

Unsurprisingly, “He wouldn't come down, and he wouldn't send anyone else down, so I eventually left.”

However, despite the looming threat, Levant and Rebel News refuse to cower in fear.

“We've been driving the truck with those same images for a few days now, and I don't know what's going to happen next,” he says.

'This is Canada, not Gaza': Cops drag away conservative reporter for supposedly 'trespassing' in Toronto's public square

A Canadian reporter for one of the northern nation's only conservative media outfits was arrested Sunday and carted away for doing his job faithfully on public property.

Rebel News reporter David Menzies, who local and federal officials appear keen to shut up and lock away, confirmed to Blaze News that he was charged for alleged breach of the peace and trespassing for daring to pose questions to anti-Israel protesters outside Toronto City Hall.

Menzies indicated that he will be suing the Toronto Police Service over this incident just as he is suing the Royal Canadian Mounted Police for a similarly rough arrest earlier this year.

Background

Thousands of people gathered outside Toronto City Hall on Sunday for "6 Months in Hell," an event centered around demands for the release of those remaining Israeli captives who have suffered at the hands of Islamic terrorists since Hamas waged its unprovoked Oct. 7 attacks on the Jewish nation.

Footage of the event outside Toronto City Hall shows a peaceful crowd waving Canadian and Israeli flags at Nathan Phillips Square while various speakers take the stage, including Conservative Party Leader Pierre Poilievre.

Poilievre, the parliamentarian poised to steamroll Prime Minister Justin Trudeau in the 2025 federal election, called on "friends of humanity — Jews, gentiles, people of all backgrounds, Canadians, all people of decency — to stand against the homicidal, genocidal death cult that is Hamas, a death cult that must be destroyed so that we can free the hostages and restore peace for all."

— (@)

Anti-Israel demonstrators flocked to the scene in an apparent effort to counter the anti-terrorist sentiment expressed by Poilievre and others.

Menzies told Blaze News he ventured over "as a journalist in the public square doing public service journalism ... to find out why these people were there trying to crash this event."

"Incredibly, there was a protest of a few dozen people — the pro-Hamas types — which was particularly gross because to me this was like crashing a funeral," Menzies told Blaze News. "They're spouting their rhetoric, which by the way includes calls for genocide like, 'from the river to the sea,' and 'intifada.'"

Footage shows a number of the anti-Israel protesters crowding Menzies outside Toronto City Hall as he attempts to conduct impromptu interviews with his phone and microphone in hand. The mob presses the reporter up against a wall, shoving him with flag poles and sneaking in jabs. Other protesters can be seen attempting to block the view of Menzies' cameraman with flags and placards.

Menzies indicated that police looked on as protesters not only assaulted him but illegally used amplifying devices to push their vitriol and drown out calls for the hostages' releases.

A masked Toronto Police Service officer can finally be seen swooping in, grabbing Menzies, and separating him from the crowd.

Menzies tells the officer, "They can chant genocide in the street, and I can't cover that? Obey your oath. Officer, obey your oath."

The TPS officer can be seen grabbing Menzies' wrist and tossing his camera onto the ground. Additional cops crew around as the officer handcuffs the reporter, then carts him away.

The arresting officer announces Menzies was "under arrest for refusing to leave [the] premises."

"It's a public place!" responds Menzies in an apparent state of disbelief. "This is literally the public square."

The officer begins to explain his actions, but Menzies interrupts, noting, "They assaulted me and you did nothing."

The police drag him over to a van, ostensibly banging Menzies' head against the rear door before tossing him inside.

Rebel News subsequently indicated that Menzies suffered a cut on his head from when the officers "roughly threw David into the back of a police truck, knocking his head against the roof. They also tightly forced his shoulders back, deeply aggravating a previous injury."

Menzies told Blaze News that "in the department of perverse irony," he was ultimately held at TPS 52 Division, one block away from the Art Gallery of Ontario where "pro-Hamas" protesters shut down a reception between Trudeau and Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni.

The reporter found some dark humor in the notion that whereas he sat in holding for asking questions on public property, the radicals "got away with shutting that down."

— (@)

When speaking to Menzies hours after his release, Ezra Levant, the publisher of Rebel News, surmised the police had gone after the reporter because it would have alternatively required more effort to deal with the actual aggressors.

"They took the coward's way out, which is, 'If we try and arrest this mob of Hamas hate marchers, they're going to get handsy with us. But we know Menzies won't, so let's take him out,'" said Levant.

Menzies told Blaze News, "Bottom line, right now in Toronto — and I would argue in other cities around the world, Western democracies — law enforcement is now about, not enforcing the law, but keeping the peace. Keeping the peace means bending the knee to the violent mob. 'If keeping the peace means arresting an independent journalist for potentially asking insensitive questions to the mob, then so be it.'"

The Canadian reporter suggested that this style of policing is prompting the mob to become "more and more emboldened," noting that among the anti-Israel radicals proudly demonstrating Sunday was a woman who allegedly speared a police horse last month but was evidently spared jail time.

Levant suggested that the TPS has a "personal vendetta" against Menzies.

After all, Menzies has repeatedly been targeted for abuse while working for Rebel News, one of the few media outfits in Canada that does not receive funding from the Trudeau government.

He was allegedly assaulted by Trudeau's bodyguards in 2021; roughed up by an RCMP officer, then carted away by York Regional Police after asking Trudeau's deputy minister questions in January; and arrested by Toronto Police officers last month for asking questions of pro-Palestinian protesters nearby an event featuring Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.

How bad is it in Canada?\n\nRebel News reporter David Menzies (@TheMenzoid) was "arrested for assault" for asking Deputy PM Chrystia Freeland questions.\n\nYou can clearly see David did not "assault" Freeland. It's arguable that never even made physical contact.\n\nWorse yet, Justin\u2026
— (@)

Blaze News previously reported that the apparent antipathy for the conservative outlet is shared by more than just city officials. Trudeau and his Liberal Party have denied Rebel News accreditation to cover political debates; accused its reporters of spreading vaccine misinformation; and suggested it was increasing polarization in the country amid draconian COVID lockdowns.

"That's Toronto police showing total cowardice towards actual criminal gangs but abusing and punishing a peaceful journalist," wrote the publisher. "I'm sick of it. We're going to defend against the bogus charges today. But when those charges are thrown out, we're not done."

When vowing to sue the Toronto Police, Levant indicated his aim would be "to teach them that they just aren't allowed to beat up Canadian journalists. This is Canada, not Gaza."

Menzies indicated they also filed a lawsuit last month over the Freeland incident, which they will use as the "template" for two suits against the TPS, one for the incident last month and another for the arrest Sunday.

Blaze News reached out to the Toronto Police Service and Pierre Poilievre for comment but did not receive replies by deadline.

'A rain tax. Seriously, they want to tax the rain': Critics blast proposed charge for Toronto homeowners

Critics are blasting a "rain tax" Toronto is proposing to charge homeowners, Newsweek reported.

What are the details?

City officials are proposing to hit homeowners with a "stormwater charge" according to how much their properties' water runoff would impact the storm sewer system, the magazine said, adding that it's an attempt to encourage citizens to keep grass and plants on their properties rather than paving outdoor square footage.

Newsweek, citing Toronto city authorities, said the charge would be based on each property's hard surface area, including roofs, driveways, parking lots, and other concrete landscaping.

"Stormwater is rain and melted snow. When not absorbed into the ground, stormwater runs off hard surfaces onto streets, down storm drains, and through a network of pipes that carry it into local waterways," Toronto's city website says, according to Newsweek. "In urbanized areas like Toronto, there are a lot of hard surfaces. [...] Too much stormwater can overwhelm the city's sewer system, which can lead to flooded basements and impacts to surface water quality in Toronto's rivers, streams, and Lake Ontario's waterfront."

The proposal is eliciting annoyed reactions — such as from Donald Trump Jr.:

— (@)

Newsweek noted that Warren Kinsella, founder of political campaign strategy firm Daisy Consulting Group, penned an op-ed for the Toronto Sun. Kinsella opened his piece with a nine-word assault: "A rain tax. Seriously, they want to tax the rain."

Canadian Parliament member Kevin Vuong echoed Kinsella's words in an equally critical social media post:

— (@)

Toronto is consulting the public about the proposed charge until April 30, the magazine said, adding that a report on the outcome of the public consultation is scheduled to be released this summer.

If that ain't enough ...

Earlier this month, Toronto police endured serious backlash after telling residents to leave their car keys at the front doors of their homes for thieves to take in order to lessen the risk of residents being physically attacked for car keys in their homes.

“To prevent the possibility of being attacked in your home, leave your fobs at the front door because they are breaking into your home to steal your car; they don’t want anything else," a police official said. "A lot of them that they’re arresting have guns on them, and they are not toy guns. They are real guns. They’re loaded.”

'Wear a helmet': Toronto bans tobogganing across most of the city, declares tubing and pets unsafe

The City of Toronto has banned tobogganing at the majority of hills, citing safety concerns, while designating certain parks and locations specifically as toboggan hills.

A total of 45 hills out of 74 have been deemed unsafe by the city, with officials stating that all toboggan hills must have a clear path from top to the bottom without any hazards or obstacles. Obstacles include ditches, fences, trails, and trees.

These designated tobogganing hills are also allegedly regularly inspected for safety, the city claimed.

"Tobogganing is not permitted at some hills because of hazards obstructing the slope, which render the hill unsafe for tobogganing," the city told CBC News, Canada's state broadcaster.

The city called the number of banned hills "dynamic," and reportedly noted that the number may vary depending on the year if site conditions change.

The city's superfluous toboggan hill inspection program began in 2017 when officials decided to assign municipal staff to inspect "highly used" toboggan hills and warning signs.

"The city is responsible for ensuring its properties and any activities performed on its properties are reasonably safe," the city asserted, and it is apparently taking its toboggan safety very seriously.

On Toronto's official toboggan website — which provides a map of where taxpayers are allowed to enjoy themselves — safety tips are provided.

The tips include "wear a helmet," "slide down the middle of the hill," and "avoid ice-covered areas."

The city also advised fun-havers to avoid using "dangerous" discs and tubes and reminded everyone to not partake in the joy of bringing a family pet to the park.

"Please leave your pets at home. Pets may get excited, become hard to control and could cause injury," the city declared.

City Councilor Brad Bradford said that he might breach city ordinances in his own ward due to Toronto becoming a "no fun city."

"This is just nonsense," the councilor said. "It's the no fun city when you start seeing them cracking down on tobogganing, especially in a place that has decades of experience and a tradition of tobogganing."

A popular tobogganing spot at East Lynn Park, where Bradford is councilor, was recently placed on the no-go list.

"The reality is there are going to be people tobogganing in East Lynn Park tomorrow," Bradford claimed. "We're supposed to get 10 centimeters of snow overnight. That might include me and my daughter. It's not a good use of time. It's not a good use of resources. And again, this is why folks get cynical on the City of Toronto."

The city reiterated in its statement that the park in question was officially deemed unsafe.

"East Lynn Park was assessed using the toboggan hill inspection process and deemed unsafe due to several permanent obstacles and safety hazards onsite, including a staircase, wading pool, field house building, light poles and trees."

Anti-Israel radicals terrorize families trying to take their kids to see mall Santa

Protesters and terror apologists critical of Israel's military response to the Oct. 7 Hamas attacks have taken to routinely shutting down freeways, lashing out at passersby, and chanting murderous slogans. They have recently adapted their tactics, hijacking holiday festivities and descending on malls to intimidate people into adopting their views.

Families across Canada hoping to shop and create happy Christmastime memories were among those recently subjected to anti-Israeli protestors' ravings.

Footage taken Friday at Ottawa's Bayshore Shopping Center shows protesters terrorizing families lined up to see Santa. The mall Santa appears to struggle to maintain his composure as children — overwhelmed by the loud and angry mob beating on drums and issuing accusations of genocide — are handed back and forth.

One of the chants directed toward toddlers and other terrified children claimed, "Jesus was Palestinian."

Protesters also shouted, "While you're shopping, bombs are dropping," repeatedly at families waiting for an opportunity to meet the man in red.

— (@)
— (@)

Anti-Israeli protesters similarly swarmed the Eaton Center downtown Toronto on Friday, targeting businesses with Jewish and Israeli links and forcing a number of them to temporarily close, reported the Toronto Star.

Zara, for instance, was swarmed because its franchise owner Joey Schwebel, a Canadian-Israeli, has signaled support for the Israeli lawmaker Itamar Ben Gvir in the past. Similar protests against Zara have reportedly taken place in Turkey, Germany, and Australia.

— (@)

Anti-Israeli mobs also swarmed the Scotiabank and the book store Indigo at the Eaton Center, singling them out for their historic support of Israel. These two establishments are frequent targets of anti-Israeli protesters, the latter especially on account of its founder's pro-Israel charity. Last month, protesters forced Scotiabank to lock down its headquarters in Toronto for several hours and Indigo was vandalized in an attack police suspect was "hate-motivated."

Extra to the usual implicitly violent rhetoric, one masked man at the protest can be seen in a viral video uttering what appears to be an outright death threat in the presence of police officers.

— (@)

Similar protests also took place in Toronto's Yorkdale mall as well as in Vancouver and Burnaby, British Columbia, where protesters chanted "shame on you" to shoppers and Jewish-linked businesses alike.

CityNews indicated that the protesters in Burnaby chanted, "From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free," widely regarded as a call for Israel's ruination. The mob also chanted "End the occupation now" and "No more genocide."

The organizing parties behind the Burnaby protest included Healthcare Workers Alliance for Palestine, the Canada Palestine Association, and the Palestine Youth Movement.

Thousands take to the streets across Canada as part of parental rights protests against LGBT indoctrination in schools

From coast to coast, multitudes of Canadian parents, students, and other critics of LGBT indoctrination took to the streets this week as part of the One Million March for Children.

Pre-emptively demonized by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau; the leader of his allied socialist party, Jagmeet Singh; and other leftist politicians, the protesters emphasized Wednesday that educators have no business secretly grooming children and pushing radical gender ideology in the classroom.

The group that organized the protests noted on its website that it comprises people of diverse backgrounds and faiths who have come together to advocate for "the elimination of the Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity (SOGI) curriculum, pronouns, gender ideology and mixed bathrooms in schools."

In Canadian cities such as Calgary, Edmonton, Lethbridge, Ottawa, Toronto, and Vancouver, thousands of protesters carried signs that read, "Leave our kids alone," "Hands off our kids," "Parental choice matters," and "You don't own our kids."

"I believe the system now is bullying us, and bullying our kids especially, and they're trying to push things into our kids' throats by promoting this SOGI and sexual orientation," Mahmoud Mourra, a local organizer, told the Calgary Herald. "We have nothing against them other than one request: the kids should be left alone. I'm not saying to force my ideologies on the kids, but don’t force your ideology on my kids."

Clinical psychologist Jordan Peterson, whose wife, Tammy, spoke out at the protest, noted online, "Hey world[,] These are Canadian parents Opposing The liars and butchers ... of children under @JustinTrudeau."

"It's against humanity. They give kids rights to change their gender, but they are too young to understand," said Sara Algabron, a mother at the protests. "They are taking our rights and they are too young to make this decision. If they need to change their gender in the future, OK, but why now? They're kids."

Tensions over LGBT propaganda and the erosion of parental rights have been rising in Canada over the past several months.

TheBlaze previously reported that protests erupted in June after a trio of Ottawa-Carleton District School Board superintendents issued instructions telling teachers to use "they/them pronouns" when referring to all students, not just those with gender dysphoria.

As in other Canadian school districts, the superintendents clarified that "2SLGBTQ+ learnings ... are not open to debate or selective participation."

In one school in Edmonton, Alberta, Muslim students were reportedly told they "can't be Canadian" if they refused to participate in LGBT events.

It appears as though a significant number of Canucks have been pushed too far.

Thousands showed up in the nation's capital Wednesday to make their opposition to LGBT propaganda in the classrooms heard. Their numbers reportedly greatly dwarfed their opposition, who, ostensibly not content with having an entire "Pride Season" to advance their agenda, sought to drown out the voices of concerned parents.

— (@)

Ottawa Mayor Mark Sutcliffe denounced the peaceful anti-grooming protesters, stating, "I respect the right to protest, however the specific targeting of 2SLGBTQIA+ children for being who they are has no place in our city. The protests taking place today will only cause harm to youth who are looking for our support and acceptance. I stand with Ottawa’s 2SLGBTQIA+ community. Please know that you are valued and are always welcome here."

Trudeau, whose government discussed possibly using German-made Leopard 2 tanks against unarmed peaceful protesters last year, tweeted, "Let me make one thing very clear: Transphobia, homophobia, and biphobia have no place in this country. We strongly condemn this hate and its manifestations, and we stand united in support of 2SLGBTQI+ Canadians across the country – you are valid and you are valued."

Jagmeet Singh, the socialist multimillionaire who runs Canada's eugenicist-founded NDP, joined counter-protesters in Ottawa, carrying a rainbow banner that said, "Pride not prejudice."

Referencing the new requirements in the provinces of New Brunswick and Saskatchewan that require students to get parental consent before teachers can use their made-up pronouns and preferred first names, Singh claimed, "We've seen a lot of attacks on vulnerable people, attacks on the queer community, the trans community," reported the Ottawa Citizen.

Lyra Evans, the transvestite chairman of the scandal-plagued Ottawa-Carleton District School Board, similarly attended the counter-protest, saying, "There are signs saying 'Leave kids alone.' ... That's somewhat ironic given they're trying to police what kids can and cannot do."

While puberty blockers and sex-change operations render victims sterile, one protester told the Citizen, "I think trans kids are the future. They bring love into the world where there is so much hate."

Similar protests and counter-protests turned up in various other cities, including Edmonton, Alberta.

— (@)

Jason Schilling, president of the Alberta Teachers' Association, told the Herald, "Using 'parental consent' as camouflage, this rally was part of a coordinated strike across North America to promote misinformation, intolerance, and hate toward the 2SLGBTQIA+ community, as well as toward teachers who work to protect the safety and well-being of all students."

Rachel Notley, Alberta's former premier whom voters overwhelmingly rejected in 2019, claimed, "Those who seek to normalize trans hate will then move on to racism and misogyny. We can’t let that happen."

The organizers of the One Million March for Childrenindicated on X, "The Canadian people, who are truly awesome, embody the incredible spirit that makes our country great, and that spirit shines brightly in all of you. Rest assured, we are not here for a fleeting moment; our commitment is to amplify our voices even further as we move forward."

Disturbing video shows Toronto subway riders look on as bleeding man is chased down by knife-wielding maniac: 'He's stabbing him up!'

A man in his 30s was stabbed multiple times on a Toronto subway train around 12:23 p.m. on Thursday. This brazen midday attack is the latest in a spate of bloodlettings on the city's transit system in recent months.

It's unclear what precipitated the initial altercation, but following a brief exchange of blows, the suspect can be seen brandishing a blade in footage of the attack.

The victim attempts to drive the suspect back with a kick and a flurry of defensive punches, but upon catching at least one stab to the side, begins to retreat, trailing blood and yelling "help, help."

Other passengers look on with mild concern as the bloodied man runs by with the suspect closing in behind him.

In a longer video of the incident, a woman can be heard saying, "Somebody help him! ... He's stabbing him up! ... He's killing him," as passengers belatedly stampeded away from the attempted butchery.

Another rider can be heard panicking, saying, "I can't get off the train."

Here is the graphic video of the incident:

— (@)
The Toronto Police Service indicated that the train was traveling toward the city's downtown when the suspect "stabbed the victim multiple times."
Upon the train's arrival Eglinton station, the suspect fled. His victim was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Toronto police indicated that by 5:30 p.m. Thursday evening, the victim's condition had stabilized, reported Global News.

Duty Inspector Michelle Olszevski told reporters, "This was an isolated incident and it appears there was a verbal disagreement between the suspect and the victim prior to the stabbing occurring. Whether or not they are known to each other I didn’t know," reported CP24.

Police have released an image of the suspect, who they indicated is in his mid- to late twenties, 5'10", with a thin build and a shaved head. He is wanted on suspicion of attempted murder.
— (@)

The Toronto Transit Commission said in a statement, "Our thoughts are with the victim at this uncertain time. Safety of our customers and employees is paramount to all we do."

TTC service at Eglinton station did not resume for seven hours.

The Toronto Star reported that there have been a number of stabbings and assaults on the city's transit system in recent weeks.

On June 2, a man was stabbed at Kennedy station in the city's east end. Five suspects were arrested, all between ages 12 and 15.

Earlier the same day, a man attacked another passenger without provocation, putting the victim in a "choke hold and causing injuries" on a TTC bus at Kennedy Road and Sheppard Avenue East.
