Flailing aides prove unable to save Kamala Harris from absolute 'TRAIN WRECK' Bret Baier interview

Kamala Harris has historically kept her unscripted engagements with the fourth estate to a bare minimum. In the handful of instances in which Harris has actually sat down for interviews as a presidential candidate, they have nearly all been with friendly talking heads from sympathetic networks — such as CBS News, which apparently radically edited footage to make her seem more coherent.

Harris sat down Wednesday with Fox News' Bret Baier for a nearly 30-minute interview in an attempt to broaden her reach and offset the loss of voters Democrats have long alienated.

It did not go well.

It went so poorly, in fact, that Harris' staffers apparently pulled the plug and the Trump team later posted the interview in its entirety as a campaign ad.

Speaking to a panel of his peers after the sit-down, Baier revealed that Harris arrived nearly 20 minutes late and that her team frantically tried to cut the interview short, sparing the Democratic candidate from having to dodge additional questions.

"I'm talking, like, four people waving their hands like, 'It's gotta stop!'" said Baier. "I had to dismount there at the end."

Baier can be seen roughly 26 minutes into the interview referring to Harris' flailing aides, telling Harris, "Madam Vice President, they're wrapping me very hard here. I hope you got to say what you wanted to say about Donald Trump. ... There are a lot of things that people want to know about you and your policies. That's why we invited you here."

While Harris appeared frazzled throughout the interview, there were several moments in particular that may have prompted her aides to seek a quick exit.

'What are you talking about?'

"More than 70% of people tell [pollsters] the country is on the wrong track," Baier managed to say during one of Harris' filibusters, referring to a new Marquette Law School national survey. "If it's on the wrong track, that track follows three and a half years of you being vice president and President Biden being president. That is what they're saying — 79% of them. Why are they saying that if you're turning the page? You've been in office for three and a half years."

"And Donald Trump has been running for office," said Harris.

"But you've been the person holding the office, Madam Vice President," responded Baier.

"Come on," said Harris, smiling. "Come on. You and I both know what I am talking about. You and I both know what I am talking about."

Baier, genuinely confused as to Harris' meaning, responded, "I actually don't. What are you talking about?"

Harris, ostensibly unsure herself, pivoted into another attack on President Donald Trump, saying, "Over the last decade, people have become — but listen, over the last decade, it is clear to me and certainly the Republicans who are on stage with me, the former chief of staff to the president, Donald Trump, the former defense secretaries, national security adviser, and his vice president, one, that he is unfit to serve, that he is unstable, that he is dangerous, and that people are exhausted with someone who professes to be a leader who spends full time demeaning and engaging in personal grievances."

When asked to estimate how many illegal aliens have stolen into the country during her time as America's border czar, Harris proved unable or at the very least unwilling to answer. Instead she tossed another word salad.

"I'm glad you raised the issue of immigration, because I agree with you, it is a topic of discussion that people want to rightly have," said Harris. "And you know what I'm going to talk about."

"Do you think it's 1 million, 3 million?" said Baier.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection data indicates that over 2 million illegal aliens have so far entered the country in fiscal year 2024.

"Bret, let's just get to the point, okay? The point is that we have a broken immigration system that needs to be repaired," said Harris.

Baier noted between interruptions that the Biden-Harris administration dismantled Trump-era policies that helped secure the border and prevent the release of illegal aliens into the U.S.

Harris responded by listing several unrelated initiatives she and Biden pushed upon taking office, then suggested she had also advanced "a bill to fix our immigration system."

Baier, who wasn't buying what Harris was selling, noted that the vice president was referring to the U.S. Citizenship Act of 2021. The bill, which failed despite a federal Democratic trifecta, would have both provided a path to citizenship for tens of millions of illegal aliens and weakened various immigration policies.

When the interviewer began to highlight the nature of the bill, Harris cut him off and resumed talking around the question.

'She couldn't give a straight answer to a single question because she has no answers.'

In another instance that might have worried Harris' aides, the vice president demonstrated difficulty reconciling her newfound ability to diagnose Trump's supposed instability from afar with her years-long failure to recognize Biden's decrepitude up close.

After noting that Harris previously called Trump "misguided," "unstable," "not well," and "mentally not stable," Baier said, "You told many interviewers that 'Joe Biden was on his game,' that [he] 'ran around circles on his staff.' When did you first notice that President Biden's mental faculties appeared diminished?"

Even though Harris replaced Biden as the Democratic candidate because of the widespread recognition of the president's decrepitude, Harris suggested to Baier that there actually was no problem, stating, "Joe Biden I have watched in from the Oval Office to the Situation Room, and he has the judgment and the experiment — and experience — to do exactly what he has done in making very important decisions on behalf of the American people."

"You met with him at least once a week for three and a half years. You didn't have any concerns?" asked Baier.

Harris refused to answer and instead attacked Trump.

Trump responded to the interview on Truth Social, writing, "She has a massive and irredeemable case of TRUMP DERANGEMENT SYNDROME - So bad, in fact, that she is barely able to talk about any subject other than the man who had the best economy ever, the strongest border in history, and who just got the UNANIMOUS ENDORSEMENT OF THE U.S. Border Patrol, ME!"

Sen. JD Vance (R-Ohio) tweeted, "To my Democratic friends: maybe you should consider swapping Kamala Harris for Joe Biden."

"Kamala Harris' interview with Bret Baier was a TRAIN WRECK," wrote Karoline Leavitt, press secretary for the Trump campaign. "Kamala was angry, defensive, and once again abdicated any responsibility for the problems Americans are facing. She couldn't give a straight answer to a single question because she has no answers."

Brian Fallon, a top Harris campaign aide, told NPR, "We feel like we definitely achieved what we set out to achieve in the sense that she was able to reach an audience that's probably been not exposed to the arguments she's been making on the trail."

'Stay clear!' Train carrying hazardous materials derails and catches fire in Maine

The latest train derailment occurred in Maine on Saturday. This derailment is especially worrisome since the train was reportedly carrying hazardous material and it caught fire. The train with toxic materials derailed and caught on fire near Maine's largest body of fresh water.

A train transporting hazardous material derailed on Saturday in Rockwood, Maine. The area in the western part of the state is mostly rural. The train derailment happened near Moosehead Lake – one of the largest bodies of freshwater in the state.

The Rockwood Fire & Rescue warned local citizens, "Train derailment with fire north of Rockwood, hazzard materials please stay clear!"

There were reportedly multiple train cars that veered off the track.

It was not specified what kind of hazardous materials the derailed train was transporting.

The Facebook page for the Rockwood Fire & Rescue posted a photo of the train derailment in the snow-covered area near a river.

Somerset County Emergency Management Agency Director Michael Smith told CNN that state responders and emergency agencies from Northern Somerset County were "on scene."

The Portland Press Herald reported, "First responders say the derailment is 3 miles east of Demo Road Bridge. Crews are using heavy equipment to clear a snowmobile trail to get access to the scene."

It is unclear if anyone was injured from the train derailment.

KOKI-TV reported, "The tracks in that area are Central Maine and Quebec Railroad tracks which are now owned by Canadian Pacific Railway."

Train derailments have garnered much more attention since the disaster in East Palestine, Ohio.

Hero Boy Scouts applauded for courageous and selfless acts during deadly Amtrak train derailment

There were approximately 275 passengers and 12 crew members on board an Amtrak train when it derailed in Missouri on Monday. Among the travelers on the ill-fated train were two Boy Scout troops heading home to Wisconsin from a 10-day backpacking trip in New Mexico. After the train derailed, the Boy Scout members displayed acts of courage and heroism.

An Amtrak train ran off the tracks after colliding with a dump truck in Mendon, Missouri. Four people died in the train wreck, and at least 150 were injured.

There were brave actions taken by members of Troops 12 and 73 of Boy Scouts of America Bay-Lakes Council in Appleton, Wisconsin. The Boy Scout members were all between the ages of 14 and 17, plus eight adult troop leaders.

"It was a lot of chaos when it first fell over. There was crying, screaming, a lot of confusion," 16-year-old Elijah Awe told WISN-TV.

Awe tended to his father – who suffered cracked vertebrae and bruised ribs.

"My dad, he was having trouble breathing and his ribs were hurting, and right away he knew that he broke something," Awe said.

One Boy Scout was trapped in a train bathroom for 35 minutes because the weight of one of the passengers who died prevented him from opening the door.

"Pipes were going loose. Screws were everywhere, water dropping. Everything was completely upside down," Dean Seaborn, 14, told WISN-TV. " I was freaking out."

Eli Skrypczak, a 15-year-old scout, scampered to a nearby ditch where the dump truck driver had been ejected. Skrypczak tried to administer first aid and stop the bleeding, but it was too late. The scout comforted the driver as he died.

"One of our scouts, a 15-year-old, he's actually the senior patrol leader, which is the lead youth of a scout troop, went forward to the point of impact of the crash and actually discovered the driver of the dump truck that was hit, who had been ejected and landed in the field adjacent to the train so our scout located the driver, attempted first aid, summoned state police and emergency responders,” Scott Armstrong – the director of national media relations for the Boy Scouts of America – told Good Morning America. "They continued to give aid and then wound up just giving comfort frankly as he passed away on the scene, unfortunately."

The boy's father, Dan Skrypczak, told the New York Post, "He’s OK. He’s shook now that the adrenaline has worn off. When we finally did talk to him, he was pretty upset, he wishes he could have done more."

"Just trying to explain to him, you get hit by a high-speed train, nobody could’ve done much for the truck driver," said Skrypczak – who is the Appleton Troop 73 Scout Master. "He did everything he could, he did the right thing, he provided comfort and aid."

At least one Boy Scout broke windows on the train to help people escape, according to WBAY-TV.

Harrison Boardman, 17, opened up as many windows as possible so passengers in the overturned train cars could escape.

"I was trying to make sure I was the last scout off the train, so we had everybody," Boardman told Fox News.

Boardman stated, "I just thought it was really awesome how fast we were able to help other people."

Henry Gadzik explained, "I’m wearing this uniform. People expect me to know what to do and to help others and [I knew] that’s the role I have to play right now. I have the power to help people and I need to do it."

Armstrong said all of the scouts were in "relatively decent shape," but some of the adults "are pretty banged up, but nothing life-threatening but every one of them put their skills and kind of presence of mind to good use yesterday, helping others."

Armstrong added, "It's stressful enough taking kids that aren't yours out on a high adventure like this, but when you have a catastrophic incident on top of it, we're really proud not only just the scouts but also the volunteer adult leaders that are with them."

Scout Elijah Schultz told KSN-TV, "It really can happen at any time, these emergencies, these incidents. No one is really ever truly safe. There’s kind of the feeling that there wasn’t anything we could have done to stop it. All that matters is that you had to be prepared for it."

Matt Schultz – one of the boy scout leaders – told WFRV-TV, "It certainly makes you proud as a parent to know that they didn’t have to have their hand held throughout the whole thing. None of these boys did. Even the boys who had their fathers that were severely hurt, none of them lost their cool. They all kept composure."

Nicole Tierney – a mother of one of the scouts on the derailed train – told WBAY-TV, "[I'm] very proud of how some of our boys helped with some of the injured passengers and how they were willing to put themselves aside. That's just what Boy Scouts do."

Dan Bongino applauds Trump’s ‘complete, utter dismantling’ of '60 Minutes' and its liberal narratives

Dan Bongino, host of "The Dan Bongino Show" podcast, filled in for "LevinTV" host Mark Levin on his radio show Monday evening.

He applauded President Trump’s masterful messaging in his recent “60 Minutes” interview.

Bongino described the interview as an “epic performance” by the president in response to a “liberal attack dog show.”

“It was a complete, utter dismantling,” Bongino explained. “I’m not sure '60 Minutes' has any idea right now how bad that interview really was for them. ... It was a train wreck for them. I mean, they just got run over by the Trump train. They had no idea what was coming.”
