Florida woman allegedly attacks 72-year-old Trump supporter wearing MAGA hat, batters cop

A Florida woman attacked a Trump supporter wearing a "Make America Great Again" hat, according to police. The woman also allegedly physically assaulted a police officer in the incident that occurred in a suburb of Tampa, Florida.

Laura Elizabeth Garrett, 33, was arrested by officers of the Largo Police Department on Tuesday night. Garrett was charged with battery on a person 65 years of age or older, battery on a police officer, and obstructing or resisting an officer without violence, according to Pinellas County Jail records.

'Police claimed that Garrett continued to be combative during her arrest, and she kicked and pulled away from officers.'

Garrett was released from jail on Wednesday evening.

Citing the arrest affidavit, WTVT reported that Garrett got into an argument with an elderly man wearing a MAGA hat around 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday at a public park in Largo, Florida.

Garrett admitted to police that she had confronted the 72-year-old man because she wanted to question him about why he would support President Donald Trump, according to the arrest report cited by the television station.

The argument escalated, and the blue-haired woman reportedly dumped the liquid contents of a can on his head.

The alleged victim told investigators that Garrett hit him on the back of the head and shoulder area with the can, according to the arrest affidavit.

The arrest affidavit, obtained by the Smoking Gun, stated that Garrett "did actually and intentionally touch or strike" the alleged victim.

"This incident was witnessed by an independent witness, who later provided a sworn statement," the arrest affidavit stated, according to Newsweek.

Garrett reportedly jumped over a fence and walked away from the alleged crime scene.

Officers with the Largo Police Department later tracked Garrett down.

Police said Garrett was confrontational when officers attempted to arrest her.

According to the arrest affidavit, Garrett intentionally fell to the ground after she was handcuffed by police.

As an officer was moving the suspect toward police transportation, she allegedly used her legs to trip the officer. According to Fox News, this caused the officer to suffer bruising of his knees.

Garrett allegedly admitted to pouring a liquid on the Trump supporter but purportedly denied hitting the alleged victim with the can, Newsweek further reported.

The Largo Police Department stated that the case has been referred to the State Attorney's Office for prosecution.

Police launch search for man 'targeting' homes of Trump supporters

Police in a Western Pennsylvania town have launched a search for a man accused of "targeting" the homes of supporters of President Donald Trump.

A Pennsylvania man is "targeting" houses that have flags, signs, and banners showing support for President Trump.

'He seems to be targeting people with Trump flags and banners. He could just be driving around and when he sees one, it just sets him off.'

The first act against Trump supporters reportedly occurred in October 2024 at a home that was flying a Trump flag.

Aspinwall Police Chief David Nemec told Pittsburgh's WTAE-TV, "He went to a resident that had a Trump flag, and he stopped his vehicle right in the middle of the roadway, got out, walked up to the sidewalk, and started yelling obscenities at the house, at the flag."

The homeowner claimed that the suspect spewed vulgar insults at him and swatted the Trump flag hanging from his home. The homeowner believes that the incident was politically motivated.

Chief Nemec noted that what seemed to be the same suspect targeted a different home with a Trump banner on March 14.

"What appeared to be the same individual, he went to another residence and walked right up on the porch this time, opened up the door, and then he actually spit on the door itself, on the camera, and then just turned around and walked off the porch," Nemec explained.

The homeowner in that incident said her 19-year-old son went outside to confront the man, but he had already fled the scene.

The Aspinwall Police Department shared a Facebook post from Aspinwall Mayor Joe Noro that included photos of the suspect and a video of the man spitting on the front door of a house.

"We have all of Western Pennsylvania police departments trying to find this individual that needs help," Noro stated. "We ran this person through facial identification without results."

Noro noted that investigators checked traffic cameras to identify the suspect, but the effort was unsuccessful.

Mayor Noro urged anyone with information on the suspect to contact the Aspinwall Police Department.

Nemec told the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, "He seems to be targeting people with Trump flags and banners. He could just be driving around and when he sees one, it just sets him off.”

Nemec added, "Our main thing is the safety for this community. Things like this really don't happen around here, so now that it's happened again, we don't want to see copycat people doing things like this, so we'd really like to get a handle on this and find this person."

Aspinwall Councilman Lou Curcio told the news outlet, "Our goal is to keep Aspinwall and our residents safe. There is no tolerance for this type of behavior here. I know that Mayor Noro, Chief Nemec, and Deputy Chief Vith are working very hard to find the suspect."

Police said they are worried that copycat crimes could be committed.

Police said the suspect could face charges of disorderly conduct and trespassing.

Florida man accused of stabbing pro-Trump friend to death with trowel found not guilty of murder

A Florida man accused of stabbing his pro-Trump friend to death with a trowel at a construction site has been found not guilty of murder.

During a non-jury trial at an Orange County court last month, 34-year-old Mason Trever Toney was found not guilty of murder by reason of insanity, according to WKMG-TV.

'There was something wrong with Mason.'

As Blaze News reported in January 2020, Toney was arrested for the murder of his friend and his boss — 28-year-old William Knight.

Citing the arrest warrant, WESH-TV reported that police officers arrived at the crime scene to find Knight’s body next to an excavator with an American flag nearby.

Witnesses told investigators that Knight is a “proud and outspoken American,” who was “pro-Donald Trump.”

Toney was reportedly described by witnesses as having anti-government sentiments and believed “the government is bad and out to get him.”

According to court documents, witnesses said Knight picked up Toney to drive him to another construction site when an argument about politics, including Knight’s support for President Donald Trump, erupted.

The argument allegedly escalated into a physical confrontation. Witnesses purportedly attempted to stop the attack and threw things at Toney.

Toney is accused of stabbing Knight to death with a construction trowel. Toney reportedly jumped into a truck and drove away while calling the witnesses “terrorists.”

Knight succumbed to his injuries at the crime scene on Jan. 20, 2020.

The Orange County Sheriff’s Office noted that Toney was apprehended in Brevard County on the same day in the truck and charged with murder.

Williams Knight Sr. — the victim's father — told WKMG-TV in 2020, "The gentleman, Mason, he was a friend of the family for years."

The father said his son had recently been promoted to a construction site foreman before his death, and he hired Mason. The deeply distraught mother said she warned her son not to hire his childhood friend because he had been acting strangely.

Julia Knight — the victim's mother — said of a possible motive for her son's death, "I don't know. I can't explain what happened to my son. I don't understand. I never thought Mason would do this to my son."

Julie Knight added, "But it wasn't about politics, I can tell you right now."

"There was something wrong with Mason," she said.

A review hearing is scheduled for Aug. 11.

Man and his girlfriend viciously beaten over their pro-Trump flag in Oklahoma City, police say

Police say that a man and his girlfriend were viciously beaten because they were driving with a pro-Trump flag on their truck in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

The troubling incident unfolded Monday morning in the Bricktown area.

A witness told KOCO-TV that the fight was politically motivated and began when the couple arrived at a gas station with a large "Trump 2020" flag attached to the tailgate of their truck.

"The victim stated he and some other people pulled up to a gas pump," said Sgt. Megan Morgan of the Oklahoma City Police Department.

The report says that there were numerous motorcycle riders at the gas pumps.

"That's when a verbal altercation ensued between the victim and the suspect," she said.

The fight resulted in the flag being torn from the truck.

"A full altercation ensued where a victim and a second victim got injured," Morgan said.

The police said that the man and his girlfriend were beaten so badly that they were bleeding from their nose, mouth, and both eyes. KOCO reported that friends of the couple said on Facebook that they had to receive staples in their heads over their injuries.

Police said that the motorcycle riders at the scene were uncooperative, would not help them identify the attackers, and instead, offered "the usual anti-police rhetoric."

The clerk at the gas station told the police that they did not have exterior security cameras at the station.

Police have asked for the public's help in obtaining information on the suspects in the attack.

Political violence appears to have increased across the country as Election Day nears and passions heighten between Americans who disagree with each other. In one bizarre episode from California in June, a man threatened Black Lives Matter protesters with a chainsaw while yelling racist epithets.

Here's a local news report about the attack:

Women's March, BLM activists reportedly pummel female Trump supporter, who ends up hospitalized for head, neck injuries

Female Trump supporter Isabella Maria DeLuca says Women's March and Black Lives Matter activists assaulted her in Washington, D.C., on Saturday, during a pro-Trump rally.

DeLuca shared a photo of her injuries on Twitter Saturday. Her post quickly went viral.

What are the details?

DeLuca — outreach director for Republicans for National Renewal — says she was peacefully demonstrating in D.C. on Saturday with a pro-Trump flag when a woman approached her and began attempting to take away the offending flag.

The outlet noted that DeLuca was also demonstrating to show her support for Supreme Court nominee Judge Amy Coney Barrett.

According to the report, when the older woman approached DeLuca and could not muscle away the flag, she began hitting and punching DeLuca.

In a statement to the outlet, DeLuca said, "The first woman was a white older woman — she had glasses on, a glittery, bedazzled Black Lives Matter shirt. She looked like she could have been my grandma, honestly."

She continued, explaining that a younger woman approached the two and quickly flanked the older woman. The younger woman then also reportedly attempted to yank away DeLuca's pro-Trump flag. When DeLuca refused to give it up, the younger woman reportedly began to punch and choke her.

According to the outlet, "DeLuca said that she felt reluctant to defend herself due to the advanced age of her attacker, but was determined to retrieve the flag when it was snatched."

DeLuca was hospitalized after the attack and, according to the outlet, treated with a cervical collar due to head and neck injuries.

DeLuca shared a photo of her injuries to Twitter, captioning the snap, "The aftermath of supporting @realDonaldTrump at the Women's March today!"

What else?

On Monday morning, DeLuca — who apparently received backlash for sharing her story across social media — tweeted, "The fact I even have to come on here and defend myself to a bunch of disgusting leftists is sad. I didn't charge at a woman. She stole my flag and I put up my hand to retrieve it from the ground so I didn't get kicked while I was down on the ground."

VIDEO: Student gets assaulted and spit on for supporting Trump — but refuses to give up his MAGA hat

A video appears to show a teenage Trump supporter being assaulted and spit on at school because of his political beliefs.

A boy wearing an American flag-themed shirt had his "Make America Great Again" hat stolen by a female classmate. The girl refused to give back the boy's MAGA hat.

"Look how f****** stupid you look," the girl tells the boy, and then spits on him. "You f****** look like a clown!" She then points to the MAGA hat.

The boy attempts to take back his property. "Give me my f****** hat," the boy demands. A struggle ensues, and while the boy is grappling to retrieve his hat, a second female student winds up and smacks the boy in the face.

"It's my hat...it's my hat," the boy states.

The girl who stole the hat threatens, "Boy, I'm gonna knock you in your f****** mouth, let go of this f****** hat right f****** now! You wanna support Trump, I'm gonna knock you in the f****** teeth! I'ma knock you in the f****** teeth."

The girl then spits at the boy. She then turns to the camera, and then spits on the boy again.

"How you like that? You my little b****, huh? You my little b****," she says. "You my little b****, huh? Yeah, cuz it looks like it. My spit is on your face."

The camera zooms in on the boy and his face is covered in spit.

The girl dares the boy to hit her, but he is above the violence. "I was f****** raised right, I don't f****** hit a little girl."

This isn't the first time that Trump supporters have been targeted for wearing MAGA hats, which at times have turned violent.

In 2018, a man threw a drink at a 16-year-old for wearing a "Make America Great Again" hat at a Whataburger in Texas.

Last October, a Trump supporter wearing a MAGA hat in Minneapolis was spit on while he was giving an interview to VICE.

Last November, surveillance video was released of someone spitting on a 67-year-old man at a restaurant in Florida for supporting President Donald Trump.

In February, a retired NYPD officer alleged that he was punched in the face because of his MAGA hat.

Also in February, police said a 34-year-old man was arrested for assaulting a 15-year-old who was wearing a Trump hat at a polling tent at his high school in New Hampshire.

There are numerous instances of people attempting to steal the hats right off the heads of Trump supporters, including at Texas State University, a mall in Pennsylvania, a high school in Oklahoma, and two women stole a MAGA hat from a 7-year-old boy then assaulted his mother.
