Special education teacher groomed, sexually assaulted 13-year-old boy in classroom, provided weed to him: Police

A California special education teacher is accused of grooming and sexually assaulting a 13-year-old student. The Los Angeles teacher also had sex with the underage boy in her classroom and provided him with marijuana, according to police.

On Thursday, the Los Angeles Police Department arrested 43-year-old Colleen Jo Matarico.

Matarico is in custody on $1.3 million bail.

Police said in a statement that Matarico of Valley Village "groomed and sexually assaulted a 13-year-old victim in her classroom, and later convinced the victim to have sexual intercourse in her vehicle."

Police said the special education teacher also provided marijuana to the boy and added that "detectives believe there are additional, unidentified victims of Matarico who have yet to come forward."

Matarico was charged with five counts of lewd acts with a minor, two counts of lewd acts with a minor 14 or 15 years old, and one count of furnishing marijuana to a minor.

Matarico's LinkedIn profile states she is a special education teacher in the Los Angeles Unified School District.

According to the John Burroughs Middle School website, Matarico was listed as “a teacher.”

School principal Dr. Steve Martinez told the school community Thursday in a message shared with the New York Post that the teacher was removed from campus after the school contacted police. The Post said Matarico wasn't named in the letter.

“District protocols are being followed and we remain in cooperation with local authorities. Due to the ongoing investigation by law enforcement, we are unable to disclose additional details about this matter,” the principal wrote, according to the Post.

“We understand that some students may be impacted by this incident. Students can always reach out to teachers, counselors or school staff for support,” he added, the paper said.

Matarico is in custody on $1.3 million bail.

Police are urging any other victims to contact the LAPD's Juvenile Division Abused Child Section at 424-259-7097. Those wishing to remain anonymous can contact the Los Angeles Regional Crime Stoppers Hotline at 800-222-8477 or submit tips online at www.lacrimestoppers.org.

Texas elementary school teacher admits to filming explicit videos in classroom, contends she's the victim, has yet to be charged

A former Texas elementary school teacher admitted to filming sexually explicit videos of herself inside her classroom, but contends that she is the victim in this situation.

The woman – who has not been identified because she has yet to be charged with any crimes – confessed that she filmed sexually explicit videos in her classroom and bathroom at the Gray Elementary school in Fort Bend County near Houston.

The former music teacher told KHOU 11, "It was a poor judgment on my part. I would never do it again."

The teacher – who reportedly resigned in February for undisclosed reasons – claimed she recorded the videos on a Sunday when she had stopped by the school to pick something up and nobody was on campus.

The illicit videos show the teacher stripping naked and flashing her bare breasts and buttocks, according to reports. The teacher's school identification card was allegedly visible in the videos.

The Lamar Consolidated Independent School District said it was not made aware of the shocking videos until Wednesday. The school district has since launched an investigation into the allegations.

Police have yet to charge the former teacher with any crime.

The former teacher said that she is a victim of revenge porn.

The woman claimed to have sent the videos to a man she was dating at the time. She said they had a nasty breakup and then he leaked the sexually explicit videos online.

The former teacher explained, "I've never sent this out to thousands of men. Like, I’m not that type of person. This was just a relationship, a private matter, and he released it."

She has allegedly filed a police report for revenge porn in Harris County.

Quanell X – Houston activist and former New Black Panther Nation leader – claimed to have made the school district aware of the illicit videos.

The activist delivered an eyebrow-raising press conference on Wednesday, where he said the video shows the former teacher "stripping down naked, bending over and showing you everything on the video and all you could see was cellulite and pubic hair."

"This woman obviously had lost her damn mind. She needs psychotropic medication. She pulls out her breasts and she’s juggling them — look like she’s about to fall over. Then she bends over and pulls down her panties," he added.

X suggested that authorities could "find something criminal to bring her into a courtroom for."

He added, "If we can put Donald Trump in the courtroom and find something to prosecute him for, don't tell me we can't find something to prosecute this woman for."

KHOU attempted to reach out to the unnamed ex-boyfriend for comment but was unsuccessful.

After accusations of sexual abuse of student, female teacher resigns from $61,000-a-year school where Jeffrey Epstein taught

A female teacher at an "elite" New York City prep school has resigned after accusations that she sexually abused a student have surfaced.

Dalton School teacher Mara Naaman, 50, was put on leave after receiving a letter "written on behalf of a former student" accusing the instructor of child sex abuse on May 2. Four days later, Naaman resigned from her teaching position at the $61,000-a-year school.

The alleged sexual misconduct occurred between 2020 and 2022.

Dalton School principal Jose De Jesús sent out an email to parents on May 9 regarding the "serious matter."

"We are only providing the name of the teacher so anyone with relevant information can provide such information," the principal wrote. "Our priority is determining the veracity of these claims and determining whether there are other allegations of abuse from other members of the community."

The Dalton School filed a police report and hired a firm specializing in harassment and sexual abuse to conduct an investigation, according to the letter from school administrators.

The New York Post reported that the New York Police Department "did not address repeated questions regarding the alleged incident." However, the NYPD noted that it takes sexual assault and rape cases "extremely seriously" and encouraged any victims to file a report with the department.

Naaman taught English literature to ninth through 12th graders at the Dalton School, which is located in Manhattan’s Upper East Side. She was also a "house advisor" at the K-12 school and responsible for "creating a safe space for conversations around personal responsibility," according to the school's website.

The school's website purportedly stated, "House Advisors not only advise on academic matters but are a 'sounding board' for students on all matters, including social and emotional issues."

Before teaching at the Dalton School, Naaman reportedly worked at Hofstra University, Columbia University, and Williams College in Massachusetts.

The Dalton School and Naaman did not respond to a request for comment by the New York Post regarding the sexual abuse allegations.

The Dalton School has garnered notoriety in the past decade after being associated with Jeffrey Epstein.

In September 1974, the Dalton School hired the convicted pedophile as a math and physics teacher when he was just 21 years old and he did not have a college degree or any teaching credentials. At the time, the school's headmaster was Donald Barr – the former father of Attorney General William Barr.

Former teacher gets lengthy federal prison sentence for taking student out of state for illegal sexual acts, abusing minor 30 times

A former Arkansas teacher has been sentenced to more than a decade in federal prison for taking a student out of state to engage in illegal sexual acts.

On Wednesday, United States District Judge Lee P. Rudofsky sentenced Heather Hare to 13 years in federal prison for transporting a minor across state lines for the purpose of unlawful sexual activity. Hare had faced a maximum sentence of no less than 10 years in federal prison and up to life imprisonment.

Hare was also sentenced to serve a lifetime of supervised release.

Hare was indicted on Aug. 1, 2023, and charged with one count of interstate/foreign travel for prostitution/sexual activity by coercion and one count of transportation of a minor with intent to engage in criminal sexual activity.

Hare pleaded guilty in January, and the remaining charge was dismissed.

The 33-year-old woman had been a teacher at Bryant High School in Conway, Arkansas. She had taught Family Consumer Science classes until she resigned on April 1.

As Blaze News previously reported, Hare turned herself in at the Saline County Detention Center on the morning of April 14 after the Saline County Sheriff's Office issued a warrant for arrest. Detectives suspected Hare of engaging in sexual misconduct with a student. She was initially charged with felony charges of first-degree sexual assault.

Investigators said that Hare met the student on his first day of senior year.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Arkansas stated in a press release that Hare began "one-on-one counseling sessions with the minor victim," and eventually gave the minor her personal phone number. She also reportedly communicated with the student through Instagram and Snapchat.

She allegedly told the victim that she had a "dream" of them having sex. Hare later gave the student her home address.

Federal authorities determined that Hare and the student engaged in illicit sexual activity between 20 to 30 times throughout the 2021-2022 school term. The illegal sex acts reportedly took place at Hare's home, her vehicle, her classroom, and in parking lots at Bryant High School.

In April 2022, Hare was the sponsor and chaperone to a class field trip to Washington, D.C. During the school trip, Hare and the student engaged in unlawful sexual activity.

United States Attorney Jonathan Ross said of the child sexual abuse case, "Teachers who have sex with their minor students should take note of today’s sentence for Ms. Hare which reflects the consequences of abusing her position of trust and taking advantage of the vulnerability of this minor to repeatedly engage in unlawful sexual activity."

He added, "Our office will continue to hold accountable those who are in a position of trust that target children and prosecute them to the fullest extent of the law, as evidenced by Judge Rudofsky sentencing Ms. Hare to 13 years in federal prison."

Federal Bureau of Investigation Special Agent in Charge Alicia D. Corder of the Little Rock Field Office stated, "The FBI takes crimes against children very seriously. Today’s sentencing shows that the federal government will continuously work to identify, investigate, and prosecute individuals who abuse their position of trust and authority to exploit children in our community."

Married New Jersey teacher and her student caught in 'states of undress' by officers at nature preserve: Prosecutor

The latest alleged teacher sex scandal involves a married New Jersey teacher who was caught with her student caught in "states of undress" by officers at a nature preserve, according to a prosecutor. The teacher previously said, "I truly enjoy getting to know the students here."

Jessica Sawicki, 37, was arrested earlier this week and charged with five counts of second-degree sexual assault and five counts of second-degree endangering the welfare of a child.

Sawicki, of Point Pleasant, is an English teacher at Hamilton High School West in Mercer County.

The Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office said Sawicki allegedly engaged in sexual acts with the victim at the Assunpink Wildlife Management Area in Upper Freehold Township "on several occasions."

An investigation conducted by the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Bureau, the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office, and the New Jersey State Police found that Sawicki's alleged sexual assault of one of her students began earlier this year.

The Mercer County Prosecutor's Office has accused Sawicki of engaging in illegal sexual activities with the student on several occasions at the Assunpink Wildlife Management Area – roughly 20 minutes from the school.

The New York Post reported that Sawicki admitted to investigators that she and the teen had “unprotected” sex at least five times since December in the 6,393-acre state-owned wildlife management area, according to an affidavit of probable cause.

The teacher reportedly had sex with the student in the back seat of the victim's vehicle, according to the affidavit.

The married teacher was allegedly busted when she and the student were caught in "states of undress" by officers from New Jersey Fish and Wildlife on Sunday near a bank on the Assunpink Lake, according to officials.

The victim was described as being "at least 16 but not yet 18" in the criminal complaint.

Police seized two mobile phones and an Apple Watch in the investigation, according to the affidavit.

Sawicki was placed on administrative leave from her $$40,669-a-year-position.

The Hamilton School District notified parents of the teacher's arrest in a letter released this week, but did not name the teacher.

"The alleged incident goes against our professional standards as a school district and is far removed from the expectations we have for the personal conduct of an employee," the letter to parents read. "We have no tolerance for any actions that harm or could potentially harm our students. The actions of one staff member do not represent the hard work and dedication of our entire school community."

The school district said there is "no indication" that any illegal sexual assaults took place on school property.

Valencia Foster – a sophomore student at Hamilton High School West – told WPVI-TV, "I was just like, that's crazy. I always see her in the hallway, she always says, 'Hi,' smiling."

Kristen Stillwell – whose nephew attends Hamilton High School West – told the news outlet, "I think it's terrible. I think our kids come here for an education and not to be preyed upon."

In Sawicki's now-deleted "about the teacher" page, she said: "This is my 7th year working at Hamilton West teaching English...I truly enjoy getting to know the students here and helping them become the best versions of themselves while they strive for their futures."

If convicted on all counts, Sawicki could spend the rest of her life in state prison.

Anyone with information about Sawicki’s alleged crimes is urged to contact MCPO Detective David Sidorakis at 800-533-7443.

Florida teacher arrested for alleged classroom sex with student, making him jealous by saying she had sex with other students

A teacher in Florida has been arrested after being accused of having sex with a student in a classroom and in her car in the parking lot of his grandmother's apartment complex.

Lauren King, 32, was arrested on March 7 after the Fort Myers Police Department received a tip that she was engaged in a sexual relationship with a student. King was charged with two counts of lewd or lascivious battery.

King previously worked at Royal Palm Exceptional Center in Fort Myers, Florida. The school educates about 150 students from pre-kindergarten through 12th grade.

According to Lee County Clerk of Courts documents, King contacted a 12-year-old student outside of school over the course of several months.

Since Jan. 28, the two sent each other roughly 4,000 text messages. The messages included nude selfies and videos of sex acts performed on herself, police wrote in the affidavit.

King allegedly invited the minor to meet her in the parking lot of his grandmother's apartment complex.

According to The National Desk, "'[The victim] met King and entered her vehicle. She then began to.....,' and the document describes her 'providing oral sex to him,' and in the back seat, 'they then have sexual intercourse.'"

King allegedly showered the boy with gifts, including a hoodie, Beats headphones, an iPhone 13, and a Dell computer. In exchange, she told the victim "not to tell anyone what happened," according to court documents.

WBBH-TV reported, "She allegedly sent him $50 on CashApp after he left, along with an additional $150, under the guise of it being a birthday gift."

King and the student also had sex in a classroom, records show.

The boy reportedly wanted to pause the relationship with the teacher because "he felt as though he had done something wrong and was uncomfortable through the whole ordeal," docs state.

After the minor stopped texting King, she reportedly told him that "she loved him."

Court documents said, "King then attempted to get [the victim] jealous and told him that she was doing other sexual activities with other students."

The teacher sex scandal came to light when the boy's mentor probed into why his phone was ringing so often.

The mentor allegedly took the minor to church and then to Waffle House.

After seeing multiple incoming phone calls, the mentor asked the boy who was repeatedly calling him.

The boy allegedly replied, "My teacher."

The boy reportedly confessed to the mentor that he had sex with his teacher.

According to court documents, the mentor answered the boy's phone and told King: "Leave him alone. I've found out everything that you do."

King allegedly confessed to having sex with the minor to the mentor and promised that "she would quit and leave the area" within a week.

The boy's mother spoke with her son, who told her that he had sexual intercourse with his teacher and then "began to get emotionally distraught."

The Lee County School District said it does "not tolerate this kind of behavior," and King was "immediately removed from the school" after the allegations were revealed.

An attorney for the victim's family stated: "This predator targeted our client, and it was only due to his vigilant parents that she was stopped. The school district bears responsibility for allowing such a dangerous individual near our children... and must own up to its critical failure in safeguarding our students."

King's bond was set at $350,000.

Transracial hustler Rachel Dolezal fired from teaching job after reportedly posting explicit content to her risqué OnlyFans page

Rachel Dolezal – the former head of an NAACP chapter who resigned after being accused of pretending to be black for personal gain – has been fired from a teaching job after reports of her posting "explicit content" to a risqué OnlyFans page.

Dolezal – who legally changed her name to Nkechi Amare Diallo in 2017 – allegedly runs an OnlyFans account. Subscribers must pay $9.99 a month to access the OnlyFans page, where she reportedly shares "creative content and gives fans a more intimate look" into her life.

KVOA reported on Diallo's OnlyFans page and noted that the content on the site was "explicit."

The OnlyFans account in question states that it features "super steamy" photos, an "explicit collection" of images, "nude" pics, and sex act videos.

OnlyFans – a subscription social media platform – primarily features pornographic content.

A verified Instagram account, appearing to belong to Diallo, mentions an OnlyFans account.

The Howard University alum – who now lives in Arizona – was employed as an instructor with the Catalina Foothills School District.

After news of Diallo having an OnlyFans account, the Catalina Foothills School District terminated the transracial civil rights activist.

"We only learned of Ms. Nkechi Diallo's Only Fans social media posts yesterday afternoon. Her posts are contrary to our district's ‘Use of Social Media by District Employees’ policy and our staff ethics policy. She is no longer employed by the Catalina Foothills School District," KVOA was told on Wednesday by Julie Farbarik – the school district's director of alumni and community relations.

In a letter to parents, the school district said, "We are committed to maintaining a learning environment where our presence on social media is consistent with our professional obligations."

As Blaze News previously reported, Diallo was being paid $19 per hour as an "after-school instructor" at the Sunrise Drive Elementary School in Tucson.

Dolezal garnered notoriety in 2015 after her parents – who are white – said that their daughter is not black, which she portrayed herself as.

After the backlash featuring accusations of cultural appropriation and attempting to profit by identifying as another race, Dolezal resigned as president of the NAACP chapter in Spokane, Washington. The transracial scandal also caused her to be dismissed from her position as an instructor of African studies at Eastern Washington University.

Dolezal, 46, said she began identifying as a black person in 2006.

While discussing her race, Dolezal told The Guardian in 2017:

I do think a more complex label would be helpful, but we don’t really have that vocabulary. I feel like the idea of being trans-black would be much more accurate than ‘I’m white’. Because you know, I’m not white. There is a black side and a white side on all kinds of issues, whether it’s political, social, cultural. There’s a perspective, there’s a mentality, there’s a culture. To say that I’m black is to say, this is how I see the world, this is the philosophy, the history, this is what I love and what I honor. Calling myself black feels more accurate than saying I’m white.

In a 2021 interview, Dolezal said she was having issues finding a job because of the scandal.

“I started with applying for all of the things I was qualified for and after interviews and getting turned down, I even applied to jobs that didn’t even require degrees, being a maid at a hotel, working at a casino,” Dolezal said on the “Tamron Hall” show. "I wasn’t able to get any of those jobs either."

'Revered' 3rd-grade teacher, 76, accused of 'astounding' serial sexual abuse of 56 children

A retired New York teacher is accused of molesting 56 children over several decades.

Thomas Bernagozzi, 76, was arrested on Dec. 21 and charged with two counts of sodomy and sexual conduct against a child involving two students. Bernagozzi – from the Long Island town of Babylon – faces up to 50 years in prison if convicted on both charges, according to Newsday.

One of the alleged victims was purportedly abused between 1997 and 2000 and the other between 1989 and 1991, according to the criminal complaint.

On Wednesday, Bernagozzi pleaded not guilty to sexually abusing two former students in Suffolk County.

However, there have been 45 civil lawsuits filed against Bernagozzi and the school district under the New York State Child Victims Act.

The New York State Child Victims Act – signed into law in 2019 – allows an alleged victim of child sex abuse to file a civil action up until that individual turns 55 years of age.

Since his arrest, 11 more alleged victims have come forward with allegations of child sex abuse against Bernagozzi. The alleged victims range in age from 4 to 8 years old.

Due to New York’s statute of limitations, only the recent cases involving the two alleged victims could be criminally prosecuted.

On Wednesday, prosecutors said in court that the Bay Shore School District knew about the child sex abuse accusations and "turned a blind eye," according to KABC-TV.

Steven Maloney – the superintendent of the Bay Shore School District – said on Tuesday, "Due to pending and ongoing litigation, the Bay Shore School District is unable to comment regarding this matter. The District remains committed to ensuring the safety, health, and wellbeing of all students."

The 56 alleged victims were children attending schools where Bernagozzi taught.

Bernagozzi was employed as a third-grade teacher at the Mary G. Clarkson Elementary School and Gardiner Manor Elementary School between 1970 and 2000. He retired in 2003 after working for the Bay Shore School District.

The New York Post reported, "While working for the district, Bernagozzi directed school plays and coached after-school sports. Outside work hours, he would take groups of children — mostly boys — to 'local beaches, pools, gym, Broadway shows and sporting events,' prosecutors said."

The Suffolk County District Attorney's Office said Bernagozzi was "allegedly revered by both fellow teachers and staff, as well as parents residing in the district who would specifically request that their children be placed in Bernagozzi’s class."

Prosecutors noted that his classes were "allegedly comprised predominantly of male children."

Robert Hubbard – one of the alleged victims who filed a civil lawsuit against Bernagozzi – said he was a student in 1976 and that his teacher would fondle him in the classroom and at baseball games.

"The sheer magnitude of what this defendant is alleged to have committed is astounding," said Suffolk County District Attorney Raymond Tierney. "This defendant allegedly betrayed the trust of his students, their families, and the community. I urge anyone who has been abused to come forward to law enforcement no matter how long ago that abuse occurred. We will investigate thoroughly and seek to hold those responsible accountable for their conduct."

At Bernagozzi's arraignment, the Suffolk County DA requested that the former teacher be held on $1 million cash bail. However, Judge Edward J. Hennessey ordered him placed on supervised release with GPS conditions.

After 11 more alleged victims came forward this week, Judge Karen Wilutis set Bernagozzi’s bond at $300,000 cash and $600,000 bond.

Anyone with information about Bernagozzi is urged to contact the Suffolk County Police Department's Special Victims Section at 631-275-2302.

Former 'teacher of the year' accused of sexually assaulting female student for years

A former "teacher of the year" faces termination after accusations have surfaced of the Texas educator sexually assaulting a female student for years, according to police.

Brandyn Hargrove, 43, is a teacher at Brazoswood High School in Clute, Texas.

Hargrove was arrested on Dec. 21, 2023. She was charged with six counts of sexual assault of a child, four counts of indecency with a child by contact, and two counts of indecency with a child by exposure.

Hargrove was booked into the Brazoria County Jail and released hours later after posting a $240,000 bond.

A woman — who is now in her 30s — accused Hargrove of sexually abusing her when she was a teen. The alleged victim told police that she had an "ongoing relationship" with the teacher from age 15 to 17, according to the criminal complaint.

Hargrove — who was previously named "teacher of the year" and "teacher of the month" — faces accusations of having a two-year sexual relationship with a female student that reportedly took place off campus. At the time of the allegations, Hargrove was around 27 years old.

"Unfortunately, this happens more and more these days," said Clute Police Department Chief James Fitch. "Since that time we have other laws in effect, the improper relationship between educator and student was not in effect back then. But your kids go to school and you trust the teachers with that and then these types of things happen."

Finch said law enforcement is "unaware of any other victims."

The Brazosport Independent School District placed Hargrove on leave in September once officials found out about the police investigation.

"Upon notification of the investigation initiated by an outside agency on September 29, 2023, Brazosport ISD took immediate action and placed the employee on administrative leave to ensure that the employee did not have contact with students," the school district informed parents. "As a result of these charges, the district has initiated employment-related actions to separate her employment."

Hargrove faces termination when the school board determines her fate at a meeting to be held on Jan. 22.

The Brazosport Independent School District said in a statement:

BISD remains dedicated to upholding the highest standards of professionalism and integrity among our staff, and we take the safety and well-being of our students very seriously. We understand that this news may raise concerns. If any parent, student, or former student has concerns or questions, please do not hesitate to contact Brazoswood High School Principal Rita Pintavalle or Brazosport ISD Police Chief Wade Nichols. We appreciate your understanding and support during this challenging time.

Hargrove's attorney, Aaron Perry, previously declined to comment to KPRC-TV about the accusations of child sex crimes.

Former Florida teacher faces federal charges after 28 sex videos of her and ex-student found on his phone: FBI

The latest teacher sex scandal involves a former Florida instructor who is accused of having an ongoing sexual relationship with an ex-student. Federal charges were brought against the charter school teacher after the FBI reportedly discovered approximately 28 sex videos on the boy's cell phone.

On Sept. 22, 2023, a parent of the alleged victim alerted the Orange County Sheriff's Office that the boy had videos on his cell phone of him and his former teacher having sex, according to court documents. Law enforcement confirmed that the videos on the phone found the victim "was engaged in a sexual relationship with his former teacher," according to the criminal complaint.

WESH reported, "Court records go on to say not only was she the boy's 'teacher in 8th grade in 2019,' she was supposed to be 'his religious ambassador.'"

The Florida woman accused of having sex with her student has been identified as Marie Jo Gordo. The alleged suspect was a teacher at an unspecified charter school in the Orange County Public School system.

Officers interviewed the boy on Oct.12, 2023. The minor admitted to having a sexual relationship with his former teacher between June 2023 and September 2023, according to WOFL.

The FBI said they had recovered "approximately 28 videos" on the student's phone that showed the pair "engaged in sexual activity."

Court documents noted that federal investigators allegedly found videos of the teacher and student having sex in vehicles and hotel rooms throughout Orange, Osceola, and Seminole Counties in central Florida.

The explicit videos took place between June and September of 2023, according to court filings.

Last Wednesday, a jury indicted Gordo on three counts of sexually exploiting a minor. The jury said Gordo "(enticed) a minor to engage in sexually explicit conduct" and then "(produced) a visual depiction of such conduct."

The Orlando Sentinel reported that investigators said Gordo resigned from the charter school in June, but went on to be an art teacher at another school.
