Republicans vow to block Schumer's attempt to 'temporarily' replace Feinstein on Judiciary Committee

Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) said Monday he hopes to act this week to temporarily replace Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) on the Senate's Judiciary Committee, a move Republicans vowed to block.

"I spoke to Sen. Feinstein just a few days ago. She believes she will return soon. She’s very hopeful of that and so am I," Sen. Schumer said at a press conference Monday.

Sen. Feinstein was diagnosed with shingles during the Senate's February recess. She was released from the hospital March 7 and has since been recovering at home.

"We think the Republicans should allow a temporary replacement [on the Judiciary Committee] until she returns," Sen. Schumer continued.

Sen. Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.), however, quickly vowed to do no such thing, calling the move a means for President Biden to secure a "rubber stamp" for "unqualified and controversial judges to radically transform America."

"I will not go along with Chuck Schumer’s plan to replace Senator Feinstein on the Judiciary Committee and pack the court with activist judges," Sen. Blackburn tweeted Monday, adding an admonition to fellow Republicans to "stand up and protect the Senate's constitutional role to provide advice and consent on judicial nominees."

“I will not go along with Chuck Schumer’s plan to replace Senator Feinstein on the Judiciary Committee and pack the court with activist judges. Joe Biden wants the Senate to rubber stamp his unqualified and controversial judges to radically transform America.”
— Sen. Marsha Blackburn (@Sen. Marsha Blackburn) 1681740104

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas), who also serves on the Judiciary Committee, echoed Blackburn's sentiments: "Democrats serve as a rubber stamp for Joe Biden's radical judicial nominees — no matter how unqualified."

Saturday, fellow Judiciary Committee member Sen. Tom Cotton retweeted an op-ed published in the Federalist. The piece encouraged the GOP to refuse to cooperate with Feinstein's staff's request to temporarily replace the 89-year-old, ailing senator whose cognitive decline "has been known on Capitol Hill for years."

“Republicans should not assist Democrats in confirming Joe Biden’s most radical nominees to the courts. https://t.co/Dq7DFfojVi”
— Tom Cotton (@Tom Cotton) 1681566623

Sen. John Cornyn (R-Texas) has joined his colleagues on the Judiciary Committee in saying he will not support any move to temporarily replace Sen. Feinstein, CNN's chief congressional correspondent, Manu Raju, reported Monday afternoon. Sen. Cornyn also reportedly said the GOP "shouldn't help confirm Biden judicial nominees."

This "signifies that a Dem effort to replace [Sen. Feinstein] [is] likely to fail in a floor vote," according to Raju.

“New — Sen. John Cornyn, a member of Senate GOP leadership, tells us he does NOT support temporarily replacing Dianne Feinstein on Senate Judiciary. Says GOP shouldn’t help confirm Biden judicial nominees. A sign that Dem effort to replace her likely to fail in floor vote”
— Manu Raju (@Manu Raju) 1681762026

Democrats would need 60 votes on the floor to fill Feinstein's seat on the committee since multiple Judiciary Committee members have already said they would block any request for unanimous consent to seat another Democrat, as explained in The Hill.

Watch Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) field reporters' questions about his proposal to replace Sen. Feinstein (D-Calif.) on the U.S. Senate's Committee on the Judiciary below.

Gun control activist David Hogg calls Sen. Marsha Blackburn a piece of 's***' who has 'enabled the slaughter of our children'

Gun control activist David Hogg has referred to Republican Sen. Marsha Blackburn of Tennessee as a piece of "s***" and claimed that she has "enabled the slaughter of our children."

"Our nation needs to stand up to Communist China now more than ever," Blackburn tweeted on Monday.

"Our nation needs to stand up to pieces of s*** like you who have gotten far more kids killed in America than China ever has. There is blood on your hands," Hogg replied. "Whatever poor intern wrote this needs to understand you are complicit too in the slaughter of our children by working for Marsha. Quit," he added in another tweet.

“@MarshaBlackburn Our nation needs to stand up to pieces of shit like you who have gotten far more kids killed in America than China ever has. There is blood on your hands.”
— Sen. Marsha Blackburn (@Sen. Marsha Blackburn) 1681169998

Hogg also pounced on Tuesday after Blackburn issued an innocuous tweet that simply said, "God bless the USA."

"May God bless us by waking up the American people to nra puppets like you who have enabled the slaughter of our children," Hogg replied.

A shooter perpetrated an attack at a bank in Louisville, Kentucky, on Monday, killing five and wounding others. When GOP Sen. Rick Scott of Florida noted that his friend was one of the people killed, Hogg claimed that the lawmaker was "complicit."

"My friend Tommy Elliott was killed today in Louisville. He was my banker for many years. This news is very shocking and sad for Ann and me. He did so much in the Louisville community, and we pray for his family during this awful time," Scott tweeted.

"Must be tough knowing you’re complicit," Hogg replied. In a tweet on Tuesday, he wrote, "Rick Scott as one of the most powerful people in the country has not passed a single thing in the senate to reduce gun violence. I'm sorry for your loss but is protecting easy access to weapons like the AR-15 really worth the cost?"

Gun control proponents pounce on Republican senator after Nashville shooting

Leftists pounced on GOP Sen. Marsha Blackburn of Tennessee after the lawmaker issued a statement reacting to the deadly school shooting perpetrated at a Christian school in Nashville on Monday.

The shooter, who killed three children and three adults at The Covenant School, was fatally shot by police.

"Chuck & I are heartbroken to hear about the shooting at Covenant School in Nashville," Blackburn tweeted. "My office is in contact with federal, state, & local officials, & we stand ready to assist. Thank you to the first responders working on site. Please join us in prayer for those affected."

California Gov. Gavin Newsom responded to Blackburn's post by calling on the senator to approve "commonsense gun laws."

"You received $1,306,130 in donations from the NRA. You voted against the most recent bipartisan gun package in June. If you're so 'ready to assist' -- start by doing your job and passing commonsense gun laws that will help prevent tragedies like the one today," Newsom tweeted.

Democratic Rep. Jimmy Gomez of California claimed that Blackburn does not care about doing anything to protect children, tweeting, "0. That's how many f— you give when it comes to actually doing something to protect our kids."

“Hey @MarshaBlackburn here are some numbers for you:

$1,306,130. That’s how much money you received from the NRA.

129. That’s how many mass shootings there have been this year.

0. That’s how many f— you give when it comes to actually doing something to protect our kids.”
— Rep. Jimmy Gomez (@Rep. Jimmy Gomez) 1679959837

Gun control activist David Hogg, who was a student at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, when a mass shooting was perpetrated there in 2018, suggested that Blackburn and others have enabled school shootings to occur.

"Let me re write that for you. Chuck & I are heartbroken to hear about the shooting at Covenant School in Nashville that was enabled by NRA puppets like me who are willing to let kids be f[***]ing slaughtered so long as the NRA continues giving me millions," Hogg replied to Blackburn's post.

Blackburn is calling for increased security at schools to protect students.

Explosive Matt Walsh report on pediatric transgender 'care' from Vanderbilt University Medical Center leads to demands for investigation

Tennessee Republicans are speaking out against the Pediatric Transgender Clinic at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, and Gov. Bill Lee (R) has called for an investigation of the clinic after an explosive report by the Daily Wire's Matt Walsh revealed appalling details of so-called gender-affirming "care" provided to children.

On Tuesday, Walsh posted video and archived webpages from Vanderbilt in which doctors discuss how transgender hormone regimens for minors and sex-change surgeries are a "big money maker" for the clinic. Additional video shows that staff members were warned that any "conscientious objection" to the transgender "care" would be frowned upon.

“The ‘pediatric transgender clinic’ at Vanderbilt University Medical Center raises serious moral, ethical and legal concerns,” Governor Lee told the Daily Wire in a statement. “We should not allow permanent, life-altering decisions that hurt children or policies that suppress religious liberties, all for the purpose of financial gain. We have to protect Tennessee children, and this warrants a thorough investigation.”

Walsh summarized his investigative findings in a Twitter thread posted Tuesday.

"My team and I have been investigating the transgender clinic at Vanderbilt here in Nashville. Vanderbilt drugs, chemically castrates, and performs double mastectomies on minors," Walsh wrote.

He shared video of a 2018 Medicine Grand Rounds lecture given by Dr. Shayne Sebold Taylor, a physician at the VUMC Clinic for Transgender Health. In the lecture, Taylor discusses how sex-change surgeries "make a lot of money."

A female-to-male chest masculinization surgery, also called "top surgery," can bring in as much as $40,000, Taylor states. She also notes that a patient receiving "routine hormone treatment" will visit the clinic just a few times each year but "can bring in several thousands dollars ... and actually makes money for the hospital."

“Vanderbilt opened its trans clinic in 2018. During a lecture the same year, Dr. Shayne Taylor explained how she convinced Nashville to get into the gender transition game. She emphasized that it's a "big money maker," especially because the surgeries require a lot of "follow ups"”
— Matt Walsh (@Matt Walsh) 1663703694

Taylor goes on to describe how vaginoplasty surgeries, in which a man is castrated and doctors surgically create a fake vagina using tissue from his penis, can make as much as $20,000 in revenue, citing data from the Philadelphia Center for Transgender Surgery. She excitedly states that figure is likely an "underestimate" given costs for hospital stay, post-op visits, anesthesia, and other associated medical bills.

She adds that female-to-male "bottom surgeries," in which doctors take skin and other tissues from a woman's forearm or thigh to create a fake penis, can make as much as $100,000 in hospital revenue.

"These surgeries are labor-intensive, there are a lot of follow-ups, they require a lot of our time, and they make money,” Taylor told the audience. “They make money for the hospital.”

In a separate Medicine Grand Rounds lecture, Vanderbilt health law expert Ellen Wright Clayton warns hospital staff that asserting a "conscientious objection" to performing transgender "care" has "consequences" for the patients.

“If you are going to assert conscientious objection, you have to realize that that is problematic,” Clayton said. “You are doing something to another person, and you are not paying the cost for your belief. I think that is a … real issue.”

She said that conscientious objectors would be accommodated to the extent they can find someone else to perform a sex-change surgery.

“In case the objectors hadn't gotten the memo, Vanderbilt unveiled a program called "Trans Buddies." The "buddies" are trans activists from the community who attend appointments with trans patients, monitoring the doctors to guard against "unsafe" behavior such as misgendering”
— Matt Walsh (@Matt Walsh) 1663703694

“I just want you to take home that saying that you’re not going to do something because of your conscientious — because of your religious beliefs, is not without consequences, and should not be without consequences,” she said. “And I just want to put that out there.”

She tells staffers that if they don't want to perform this kind of work, they shouldn't work for Vanderbilt.

Walsh also revealed details about the medical center's "Trans Buddy" program, in which Vanderbilt provides trained "peer advocates" for gender-dysphoric patients who visit for doctor's appointments or other health care services.

"The 'buddies' are trans activists from the community who attend appointments with trans patients, monitoring the doctors to guard against 'unsafe' behavior such as misgendering," Walsh reported.

"Vanderbilt makes their Trans Buddies available to children, too. They make lots of 'services' available to children, including chemical castration. Though at some point in the last month they removed explicit admission of this fact from their site," he tweeted, sharing an archived screenshot from the Vanderbilt Pediatric Transgender Clinic website.

Video from the Vanderbilt Psychiatry YouTube channel unearthed by Walsh shows Vanderbilt professionals recommending that "gender-affirming hormones" be given to children as young as 13 to prevent them from going through puberty.

“After they have drugged and sterilized the kids, Vanderbilt — as explained in this video presentation by plastic surgeon Julien Winocour and Physician’s Assistant Shalyn Vanderbloemen — will happily perform double mastectomies on adolescent girls.”
— Matt Walsh (@Matt Walsh) 1663703694

Another video shows plastic surgeon Julian Winocour and physician’s assistant Shalyn Vanderbloemen explaining that the clinic will perform "top surgeries" on girls as young as 16 if they provide parental consent and have been taking testosterone.

"So, let’s review. Vanderbilt got into the gender transition game admittedly in large part because it is very financially profitable. They then threatened any staff members who objected, and enlisted a gang of trans activists to act as surveillance in order to force compliance," Walsh wrote.

"They now castrate, sterilize, and mutilate minors as well as adults, while apparently taking steps to hide this activity from the public view. This is what 'health care' has become in modern America," he concluded.

— Matt Walsh (@Matt Walsh) 1663703694

Multiple state and federal Republican lawmakers expressed shock and outrage at Vanderbilt following Walsh's report.

"This evil can not stand in TN," said state Rep. Jason Zachary. "The Legislature must address such abuse of children and act to protect those who face consequences for their religious objections. This will be a priority for me in 2023."

— Rep. Jason Zachary (@Rep. Jason Zachary) 1663723043

"We are shocked by what we have seen in these videos," Sen. Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.) tweeted. "We would hope that VUMC would make better decisions. There is nothing healthy about mutilating the bodies of minor children. We need an investigation into VUMC putting profits ahead of children immediately."

— Sen. Marsha Blackburn (@Sen. Marsha Blackburn) 1663713782

Republican Rep. Chuck Fleischmann called the report "incredibly disheartening and completely unacceptable."

"Tennessee children deserve better than what's happening at VUMC, and I stand alongside Governor @BillLeeTN in demanding a thorough investigation," Fleischmann said.

“The news uncovered by @MattWalshBlog is incredibly disheartening and completely unacceptable. Tennessee children deserve better than what's happening at VUMC, and I stand alongside Governor @BillLeeTN in demanding a thorough investigation. https://t.co/lMPYJnQ62O”
— Chuck Fleischmann (@Chuck Fleischmann) 1663767511

Shortly after Walsh published his Twitter thread, the website for Vanderbilt University Medical Center's Pediatric Transgender Clinic was taken down.

“BREAKING: After my report, Vanderbilt’s transgender clinic has deleted their entire website. Literally the whole thing. They’re removing everything.”
— Matt Walsh (@Matt Walsh) 1663728192

Vanderbilt University Medical Center issued the following statement:

Vanderbilt University Medical Center is now the subject of social media posts and a video that misrepresent facts about the care the Medical Center provides to transgender patients.

VUMC began its Transgender Health Clinic because transgender individuals are a high-risk population for mental and physical health issues and have been consistently underserved by the U.S. health system.

We have been and will continue to be committed to providing family-centered care to all adolescents in compliance with state law and in line with professional practice standards and guidance established by medical specialty societies.

VUMC requires parental consent to treat a minor patient who is to be seen for issues related to transgender care, and never refuses parental involvement in the care of transgender youth who are under age 18.

Our policies allow employees to decline to participate in care they find morally objectionable, and do not permit discrimination against employees who choose to do so. This includes employees whose personal or religious beliefs do not support gender-affirming care for transgender persons.

The Trans Buddy program mentioned in the video has received national acclaim. Its purpose is to provide peer volunteers who support persons who are seeking highly personal care in an unfamiliar environment, and who may have been refused medical services in the past or avoided seeking them out of fear of being met with hostility.

Walsh responded on Twitter: "They do not specifically deny anything in my report. Their only defense for drugging and mutilating kids is that their parents allegedly consent to it," he said. "That’s all the confirmation you need."

Trans swimmer Lia Thomas loses 'Woman of the Year' bid to biological female — and leftists suddenly act like it doesn't matter to them

Transgender swimmer Lia Thomas earlier this month was nominated by the University of Pennsylvania to be in the running for the NCAA's "Woman of the Year" award for 2022.

But the controversial swimmer's bid came to end Monday when the NCAA announced its conference selections — and named Columbia University fencer Sylvie Binder as its pick for the Ivy League, Fox News said.

Now the field of award candidates has narrowed to 151, and the cable network said the Woman of the Year Selection Committee will choose 10 nominees from each division, and the top 30 will be announced in October.

Binder is a biological female, and conservatives like Republican U.S. Sen. Marsha Blackburn of Tennessee couldn't have been happier that Thomas is out of the running:

“Lia Thomas lost the bid for NCAA’s ‘Woman of the Year’ — maybe they finally figured out she isn’t a woman?”
— Sen. Marsha Blackburn (@Sen. Marsha Blackburn) 1658937723

"Lia Thomas lost the bid for NCAA’s ‘Woman of the Year’ — maybe they finally figured out she isn’t a woman?" Blackburn tweeted.

Readers of TheBlaze will recall that Blackburn in March asked then-U.S. Supreme Court nominee Ketanji Brown Jackson during her confirmation hearings if she could define the word "woman." Jackson said she couldn't because she's "not a biologist."

There was a reason behind Blackburn's question, as Thomas — a biological male — had been making big waves in the pool at the time, destroying biological female opponents on the way to becoming an Ivy League champion and the No. 1-ranked woman collegiate swimmer in the country.

In fact, just a few days before Blackburn grilled Jackson, Thomas won the NCAA women's 500-yard freestyle amid deepening controversy.

Along the way, leftists were in near lockstep support for Thomas displacing biological female swimmers — some in humiliating fashion — despite the left's traditional support for women.

But after Thomas was displaced in the running for "Woman of the Year" — by a biological female, no less — there hasn't seemed to be much outrage coming from the left. Hmm.

How is the left reacting?

In fact, annoyed reactions to Blackburn's tweet indicate leftists suddenly don't seem to care that their trans icon is out of the "Woman of the Year" running.

Here's one example: "Or maybe winning one swim meet wasn't that impressive and not the end of society as some made it out to be," one commenter told Blackburn. "Onto real issues that actually matter... What are you doing to address the rampant gun violence?"

Deflection, anyone?

The hilariously transparent "Lia who?" hits just kept on coming — as if commenters were working from the same list of talking points:

 • "What have you done so far to combat inflation or mass shootings?" another lefty whined. "While Democrats are busy actively working hard to solve these issues in our country, you and your party are busy getting outraged by masks, vaccines, pronouns, other people’s gender identities, and drag shows."
 • "Could you focus on actual issues?" another commenter parried. "Don't be so insecure about how you identify."
 • "Well I guess we can all rest easier now that you're certainly on top of such pressing issues facing our country," another user declared. "Did you accept Rudy Giuliani's call to circumvent a free and fair election on Jan. 6?"
 • "Thanks for staying on top of critical issues for your constituents," another commenter noted.
 • "What have you done for the American people in the past 5 years, Marsha?" another user asked. "I've only seen you supporting a racist Russian operative, spewing hate, and making bad hairstyle choices."
 • "Marsha, what does Lia Thomas receiving an award (or not) from the NCAA have to do with your 'work' as a United States Senator?" another commenter wondered.

Now, that's just sad.

Democrats lose their minds after Supreme Court curbs EPA's ability to regulate carbon emissions to combat climate change

The U.S. Supreme Court on Thursday significantly curtailed the authority of the Environmental Protection Agency to regulate emissions from power plants, prompting Democrats to froth at the mouth because the court said Congress must act if lawmakers are concerned about climate change.

In a 6-3 decision in West Virginia v. Environmental Protection Agency, the court said that the EPA lacks broad authority to regulate greenhouse gas emissions from power plants under the Clean Air Act.

"Congress did not grant EPA ... the authority to devise emissions caps based on the generations shifting approach the Agency took in the Clean Power Plan," the court said.

The case concerned an Obama-era EPA regulation known as the Clean Power Plan, which created guidelines for states to limit carbon dioxide emissions from power plants, and its Trump-era replacement, known as the Affordable Clean Energy rule. The Trump administration repealed the Clean Power Plan after arguing it was illegal and introduced its own rule, known as the ACE rule, as a replacement. But some states and environmental groups sued, claiming Trump's rule did not go far enough and that the EPA had erred by issuing the ACE rule instead of following through with the Clean Power Plan.

The D.C. Circuit Court agreed with the challengers, vacating the ACE rule and sending the matter back to the EPA. But West Virginia and other states petitioned the Supreme Court to review the D.C. Circuit Court's opinion.

Writing for the majority, Chief Justice John Roberts held that the Obama-era Clean Power Plan was an "unprecedented" power grab by the EPA that "effected a 'fundamental revision of the statute, changing it from [one sort of] scheme of ... regulation' into an entirely different kind."

Roberts ruled that Congress had not intended to give the EPA the regulatory powers it was claiming and that the agency cannot force power plants to move away from fossil fuels and towards renewable resources without further legislation from Congress.

“A decision of such magnitude and consequence rests with Congress itself, or an agency acting pursuant to a clear delegation from that representative body,” he wrote.

The three liberal justices dissented. Justice Elena Kagan complained that the court's decision removes the power of the EPA to address "the most pressing environmental challenge of our time."

She criticized Congress for being too ignorant and lacking expertise to write sensible laws regulating the environment.

"Members of Congress often don't know enough — and know that they don't know enough — to regulate sensibly on an issue," Kagan wrote.

"Members of Congress often can't know enough — and again, know they can't — to keep regulatory schemes working across time," she added.

“In dissent, Justice Kagan is like: Congress sucks, so executive agencies have to be able to do this.”
— Gabriel Malor (@Gabriel Malor) 1656597802

Reacting to the decision, Democratic lawmakers were aghast that the court said they have to pass laws before the EPA can issue climate change regulations.

"Our planet is on fire, and this extremist Supreme Court has destroyed the federal government’s ability to fight back," Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) tweeted. "This radical Supreme Court is increasingly facing a legitimacy crisis, and we can't let them have the last word."

“Our planet is on fire, and this extremist Supreme Court has destroyed the federal government’s ability to fight back.

This radical Supreme Court is increasingly facing a legitimacy crisis, and we can't let them have the last word.”
— Elizabeth Warren (@Elizabeth Warren) 1656599584

House Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.), called Thursday's decision "catastrophic" and said the Senate needs to nuke the 60-vote filibuster threshold so Democrats can ram through climate laws.

"A filibuster carveout is not enough. We need to reform or do away with the whole thing, for the sake of the planet," she said.

— Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (@Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez) 1656598004

Republicans, on the other hand, praised the court for reasserting that the legislative power resides with Congress, not executive branch agencies operated by unelected bureaucrats.

“This decision confirms Congress, not the EPA, has the authority to create environmental policy. We’ll continue working to protect the environment while making American energy as clean, reliable and affordable as possible.
https://t.co/dPtYYmD3mm”
— Sen. John Barrasso (@Sen. John Barrasso) 1656599632

"SCOTUS' decision today rightfully reins in unreasonable and unlawful attempts to shut down American power plants and energy production," Sen. John Barasso (R-Wyo.) said. "For years Democrats have used overreaching @EPA regulations to side-step Congress and the American people to enact their extreme climate agenda.

"This decision confirms Congress, not the EPA, has the authority to create environmental policy. We’ll continue working to protect the environment while making American energy as clean, reliable and affordable as possible," he added.

Trans activist claims (now deleted) call to assassinate SCOTUS justices was just 'Gen Z/millennial humor'

Following the U.S. Supreme Court's decision to overturn Roe v. Wade, a transgender activist called for a "Supreme Court Assassination Challenge" on Twitter, according to screenshots captured of the now-deleted tweet.

Activist Eli Erlick, a founding member of Trans Student Educational Resources (TSER) and creator of the controversial "gender identity" teaching tool for children called the "Gender Unicorn," tweeted and later deleted the disturbing remark on Friday, according to the Washington Free Beacon.

Sen. Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) also caught a screenshot of the tweet before it was deleted.

"The unhinged radical left is calling for the assassination of our Supreme Court Justices. That's not the way to disagree with a decision in America. It is unacceptable, and Biden’s DOJ must immediately act," Blackburn responded on Twitter.

“The unhinged radical left is calling for the assassination of our Supreme Court Justices.

That's not the way to disagree with a decision in America.

It is unacceptable, and Biden’s DOJ must immediately act.”
— Sen. Marsha Blackburn (@Sen. Marsha Blackburn) 1656122991

Erlich then tried to play off her call to assassinate Supreme Court justices as a hilarious joke only Gen Z and Millennials would understand, apparently not understanding the seriousness of the attempted assassination of Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh just three weeks ago.

“@MarshaBlackburn I’m honored to be part of your fantasy of the “unhinged left.” You not understanding the most basic tenants of Gen Z/millennial humor makes a lot of sense, though. Also, remember when you rallied your followers to kill Mike Pence?”

“@EliErlick @MarshaBlackburn Do you live in a cave? Do you realize what came out of Jan 6th and the money, time, accusations, solitary confinement, etc. as a result? Maybe that was just humor? You can't have it both ways. Dig that hole deeper. Nobody believes your excuses.”
— Sen. Marsha Blackburn (@Sen. Marsha Blackburn) 1656122991

Erlick isn't the only Left-winger to make incendiary calls since the Supreme Court's Roe v. Wade decision. Here are just a few examples:

 • Rep. Maxine Waters (D-Calif.) called on people to “defy" the Supreme Court.
 • Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) called for people to get “into the streets” alongside radical communist leader who wants to 'overthrow' the American system.
 • Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot (D) yelled "F*** Clarence Thomas" on a public stage for all to see and hear.
 • House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) suggested that Supreme Court Justices Neil Gorsuch and Brett Kavanaugh lied to Congress.
 • And of course, "TheView" host Whoopi Goldberg issued a disgusting racist threat toward Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas.
Filling in for Glenn Beck on the radio program, BlazeTV hosts Pat Gray and Stu Burguiere took a look at these and other stunning examples of leftist lunacy over the Supreme Court's decision to overturn Roe v. Wade.

Republicans blast Biden's gas tax holiday as 'fake fix'

With his poll numbers flailing, President Joe Biden on Wednesday will call for Congress to suspend the federal gas and diesel taxes over the summer to provide relief for American drivers amid record-high gas prices.

If Congress acts, the 18-cent tax per gallon on gas and 24-cent tax per gallon on diesel fuel would be lifted for a three-month period that would coincide with an expected surge in demand for gas as people travel during the summer.

The White House released a fact sheet on the proposal Wednesday morning.

“A federal gas tax suspension alone won’t fix the problem we face, but it will provide families a little breathing room as we continue working to bring down prices for the long haul,” a senior administration official told reporters on a call before the announcement, according to The Hill.

The White House acknowledged that a gas tax suspension is only a temporary action and that in the long term, the tax is needed for the Highway Trust Fund.

"President Biden understands that a gas tax holiday alone will not, on its own, relieve the run-up in costs that we’ve seen. But the President believes that at this unique moment when the war in Ukraine is imposing costs on American families, Congress should do what it can to provide working families breathing room," the White House said.

State and federal gas taxes make up about 16.4% of the average retail price for a gallon of gasoline, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration.

Proponents of the gas tax holiday say it's a quick and easy way to lower prices at the pump. But Republicans and energy experts criticized the president's proposal, calling it a "fake fix" and suggesting it will lead to higher prices overall.

"Joe Biden has caused gas prices to hit historic highs by killing American energy and implementing 39 new regulations and executive orders," Sen. Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.) tweeted. "Suspending the gas tax will not fix Biden's energy crisis. It's a fake fix."

"Biden's gas tax 'holiday' won't increase supply. Instead, it will increase demand while saving just ~6% of Biden's gas price hike," Sen. Tom Cotton (R-Ark.) said. "It's a bad idea that won't help, but it's par for the course from this incompetent White House."

The Republican National Committee resurfaced 2008 video of then-candidate Barack Obama slamming a "gas tax holiday" as a "gimmick" that wasn't real energy policy.

Daniel Turner, the executive director and founder of the nonprofit energy group Power the Future, called Biden's plan a "transparent election year gimmick."

“Amid its litany of failures, the Biden Administration has succeeded at creating record inflation, and they have done so by strangling American energy production to appease the eco-extremists. Rather than a temporary gas tax suspension, Joe Biden should permanently suspend pursuit of the green policies that have upended our way of life and sent our economy spiraling," Turner said.

President Biden will pitch his plan to the American people in a speech Wednesday afternoon. He will also call on Congress to find $10 billion in other revenues to make up the cost of the tax holiday and fund the Highway Trust Fund.

Senate Democrats prioritize radical abortion bill over aid for Ukraine

The United States Senate has returned from recess, and the first major item on the legislative agenda is not humanitarian and security aid for Ukraine's war against Russian invaders. Instead, Democratic leadership has scheduled a procedural vote for a radical abortion bill that would essentially codify Roe v. Wade into federal law.

Democrats will attempt to advance the Women's Health Protection Act Monday, a bill that advocates say will enshrine the right to an abortion into United States law and protect abortion rights in case the Supreme Court overturns Roe later this year.

Pro-life activists warn the bill would severely undermine state laws to protect pre-born children and prevent pro-life legislation from being passed in the future.

The Supreme Court recognized a constitutional right to abortion in its 1973 decision in Roe. In addition to establishing a statutory right to an abortion, the Women's Health Protection Act would erase "medically unnecessary restrictions, limitations, and bans that delay, and at times, completely obstruct, access to abortion," according to the Center for Reproductive Rights.

State laws banning abortion after a fetal heartbeat is detected, 20-week bans, mandatory ultrasounds, waiting periods, and requirements that women seek counseling before obtaining an abortion would be struck down if the bill were enacted into federal law.

The legislation is co-sponsored by 48 Senate Democrats. President Joe Biden also supports the bill, which would fulfill his campaign promise to "pass legislation making Roe the law of the land." The Democratic majority in the House of Representatives passed the bill in the fall, but it is not expected to pass the Senate, where Democrats do not have enough support to meet the 60-vote threshold to overcome a filibuster.

Given the reality of an evenly split Senate, the decision to bring up the Women's Health Protection Act for a procedural vote today is largely symbolic, and even advocates are admitting as much.

"I think it's going to be very important that the senators are on the record," said Nancy Northup, the CEO of the Center for Reproductive Rights, in an interview with Reuters. Knowing the bill won't pass, she said the vote itself will be a win for abortion rights, adding, "The voters can judge them on that record when they make their decisions at the polls."

Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska), a pro-choice Republican, criticized Democrats for bringing the bill up for a vote Monday instead of considering an aid package for Ukraine requested by the White House on Friday,

"The Senate must focus on that growing crisis as we return to session tomorrow. A substantial and bipartisan package with aid for Ukraine and penalties for Russia cannot wait," Murkowski tweeted late Sunday.

"The measures currently on the Senate’s schedule – the Women’s Health Protection Act and a postal reform bill – are important issues. But WHPA lacks the votes to proceed and is set up to fail, so we should work to find a path that actually protects women’s right to choose," she said.

She concluded: "The world is watching. The Senate must agree on a package with humanitarian and defense aid for @Ukraine, while imposing sweeping sanctions and penalties on Russia—including strict embargoes on their energy and seafood. Countless lives and a budding democracy are at stake."

The White House on Friday asked Congress to approve a $6.4 billion aid package for Ukraine, including $2.9 billion in security and humanitarian assistance and $3.5 billion for the Department of Defense.

Michigan Democratic Party deletes Facebook post that said 'The client of the public school is not the parent, but the entire community, the public'

The Michigan Democratic Party has deleted a post from its Facebook account that said parents who want control over what their child's school teaches should opt to pay for a private school.

"Not sure where this 'parents-should-control-what-is-taught-in-schools-because-they-are-our-kids' is originating, but parents do have the option to choose to send their kids to a hand-selected private school at their own expense if this is what they desire," the post declared. "The purpose of a public education in a public school is not to teach kids only what parents want them to be taught. It is to teach them what society needs them to know. The client of the public school is not the parent, but the entire community, the public."

The post was not original, but had previously been circulating elsewhere online.

Michigan Senate Majority Leader Mike Shirkey, a Republican, described the post as "a slap in the face of parents who might not have the means to afford private school but who still expect and DESERVE a say in the education of their children."

The Michigan Democratic Party announced that it deleted the post, which it said did not represent the views of state Democrats. The party also said that parents should have a role in the state's public schools.

"We have deleted a post that ignored the important role parents play—and should play—in Michigan public schools. Parents need to have a say in their children’s education, end of story," the Michigan Democratic Party wrote on Facebook. "The post does not reflect the views of Michigan Democrats and should not be misinterpreted as a statement of support from our elected officials or candidates."
