'This isn't protest. This is terrorism': Five Antifa extremists charged with domestic terrorism, pulled down from their treehouses

Five leftist extremists have been arrested and charged with domestic terrorism in Georgia after law enforcement finally responded to their violent months-long campaign aimed at halting the construction of new police training center in Dekalb County's South River Forest.

Although some of the alleged terrorists sought refuge in their nearby treehouses during the counterterrorism operation, the strong arm of the law managed to pull them down.

What are the details?

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation announced that a task force composed of GBI agents, Atlanta police, the FBI, the DeKalb County Police Department, and other agencies executed a successful operation on Tuesday to remove leftist barricades from the entrances to Atlanta's new $90 million police training center and to clear the area of criminal activity.

The operation was prompted by "ongoing criminal activity at the site location," including "carjacking, various crimes against persons, destruction of property, arson, and attacks against public safety officials," wrote GBI spokesman Nelly Miles.

Leftist attacks and threats in the area have become a common occurrence in recent months.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported in October that the extremists — keen on halting construction of what they called "Cop City" on city property — hurled Molotov cocktails at police.

The leftist extremists reportedly also threatened contractors, destroyed equipment, and vandalized offices.

Richard Porter claimed that when he stopped briefly in the area, he was set upon by people apparently living in the woods and wearing "camouflaged stuff."

The extremists allegedly threw a "gas bomb" at Porter and then torched his truck.

WXIA reported that on Saturday, firefighters were dispatched to the area to put out a fire apparently set by the leftists. However, when they attempted to extinguish the flames, they were struck by rocks and firecrackers.

While leftist extremists reportedly pelted police and first responders alike with rocks and bottles on Tuesday, police appear to have answered back with pepper balls.

The task force that addressed the extremist threat this week arrested 22-year-old Francis Carroll of Maine, 25-year-old Nicholas Olson of Nebraska, 25-year-old Serena Hertel of California, 20-year-old Leonardo Vioselle of Georgia, and 22-year-old Arieon Robinson of Wisconsin, each of whom have been charged with domestic terrorism.

Vioselle is the only local among the five charged with terrorism.

The domestic terrorism charges could mean up to 35 years in prison for those so convicted.

The leftist extremists, held in jail without a bond, were also hit with various other charges, including criminal trespass, aggravated assault, obstruction, and interference with government property.

The GBI indicated that police found "explosive devices, gasoline, and road flares" in their search of the "area of concern."

Not protest but terrorism

Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp (R) tweeted, "We will not rest when it comes to bringing domestic terrorists to justice, and these arrests should serve as a strong reminder of that."

District Attorney Sherry Boston said in a release, "I strongly believe in the right to peacefully protest for what one believes is right and just. However, I draw the line at violence, destruction of property, and threatening and causing harm to others. ... The alleged acts of violence at the training facility site put the public in grave danger, and will not be tolerated."

Activists intimated at a press conference in southwestern DeKalb County that the criminality in the area will not end with these arrests, reported the Journal-Constitution.

Atlanta Police Chief Darin Schierbaum underscored how the violent and undemocratic tactics employed by the leftist extremists are unacceptable.

"The discourse of opposition is in city halls, it is in the public square, it is on the sidewalks. That is where you note your displeasure or your disagreement," Schierbaum told the Journal-Constitution. "It is not in Molotov cocktails. It is not in shooting fireworks at firefighters ... it is not throwing rocks at our squad cars. That is criminal activity."

Kamau Frankin, founder of the black identitarian group Community Movement Builders, said, "I don’t think people are defeated. ... I think there are forest defenders who will continue to defend the forest. That means civil disobedience, that means rallies, demonstrations. That means all the tactics that we can use."

Progressives blast Bill Maher as 'transphobic' for saying it's 'trendy' to be LGBTQ, declaring children transitioning to transgender is not science-based

Bill Maher dared to discuss the sacred cow of transgenderism – which instantly caused progressives to attack the liberal talk show host.

During Friday night's episode of "Real Time with Bill Maher," the HBO host discussed a Gallup poll about the increase of Americans identifying as LGBT.

The survey found, "The percentage of U.S. adults who self-identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender or something other than heterosexual has increased to a new high of 7.1%, which is double the percentage from 2012, when Gallup first measured it."

The Gallup poll published in February said that each generation had increased by around double from the previous generation. There were 0.8% who identify as LGBT in the Silent Generation, 2.6% of Baby Boomers, 4.2% of Gen X, 10.5% of Millennials, and 20.8% of Generation Z.

Maher hypothesized that some of the massive increase in people identifying as LGBTQ could be because it is currently "trendy" to be considered as such.

“Yes, part of the rise in LGBT numbers is from people feeling free enough to tell it to a pollster and that’s all to the good, but some of it is — it’s trendy,” Maher said.

Maher said, "I'm just saying when things change this much, this fast, people are allowed to ask, 'What's up with that?' All the babies are in the wrong bodies?"

Maher questioned a recent statement by the American Civil Liberties Union that listed groups that would suffer "disproportionately harm" by abortion bans. The ACLU did not name women, but did mention "black, Indigenous, other people of color, the LGBTQ community, immigrants, young people, those working to make ends meet, and people with disabilities."

Maher asked, "Abortion rights affects gay and trans people more than you know – breeders?"

"I'm happy for LGBT folks that we now live in an age where they can live their authentic lives openly, and we should always be mindful of respecting and protecting," Maher stated. "But someone needs to say it. Not everything's about you."

Maher moved on to children transitioning – which he described as "literally experimenting on children."

He noted, "Maybe that's why Sweden and Finland have stopped giving puberty blockers to kids because we just don't know much about the long-term effects, although common sense should tell you that when you reverse the course of raging hormones, there's going to be problems."

Maher then listed the potential health risks of puberty blockers for children.

Maher then highlighted that no gay men were selected as a Grand Marshall for the upcoming New York City Pride Parade. "That’s where we are now – gay men are not hip enough for a Gay Pride Parade," he said.

Maher pointed out that the "prime directive" of teens is to do "anything to shock and challenge the squares who brought you up. It’s why nobody gets a nose ring at 56."

"If you attend a small dinner party of typically very liberal, upper-income Angelenos, it is not uncommon to hear parents who each have a trans kid having a conversation about that," Maher stated, then asked, "What are the odds of that happening in Youngstown, Ohio?"

Maher inquired, "If this spike in trans children is all-natural, why is it regional?"

"Either Ohio is shaming them or California is creating them," he continued. "If we can't admit that in certain enclaves, there was some level of trendiness to the idea of being anything other than straight, then this is not a serious, science-based discussion. It's a blow being struck in the culture wars using children as cannon fodder."

Maher cited Dr. Erica Anderson – a "prominent" transgender clinical physiologist – who believes some children are identifying as transgender due to the "influence of their peers and social media."

Maher explained that children are not just "gender-fluid," but "fluid about everything." He added, "If kids knew what they wanted to be at age 8 – the world would be filled with cowboys and princesses."

Maher joked, "If you are a man who wants to experience life without a pair of balls, you do not have to get surgery, you can get married."

According to multiple Twitter reactions, Maher's monologue about LGBTQ enraged progressives. They lashed out and labeled the liberal talk show host "transphobic" and a "transphobe."

A Twitter user accused Maher of spreading "Gay Replacement Theory."

One activist said Maher was "spewing dangerous and hateful rhetoric."

Some progressives demanded that HBO cancel "Real Time with Bill Maher."

There was at least one Twitter user insinuated that Maher be sentenced to death for the crime of being a transphobe.

Surfed through some channels on my hotel tv. Not shocked that Bill Maher was spreading more transphobic bullshit as I clicked past. @HBO it is long past time to dump this hateful bigot. If it wasn\u2019t transphobic it would be islamophobic. Get rid of it.

Horowitz: Three ways the COVID hospital data is being inflated

In George Washington's republic, the contours of fundamental rights and the scope of governmental authority were defined by natural law and the Constitution. In Anthony Fauci's new America, those rights and powers are defined by coronavirus case and hospitalization data. As such, if hospitalizations are to be the new Constitution, shouldn't we at least demand answers about misleading data being used to impose an authoritarian and deleterious lifestyle on us?

Putting aside the fact that these lockdown measures don't work to stop the spread of the virus, are we even measuring the spread properly? In addition to governors failing to provide historical context to the current hospital levels compared to flu seasons, there are several other recent factors inflating the numbers.

Counting observation beds

To begin with, as a nation, we have decided to treat this virus in the hospital much more than any other virus. Congress has thrown billions of dollars at the hospitals, and they receive higher reimbursement rates for treating COVID-19 patients. However, many of the cases are not necessarily clinical level. Undoubtedly, in the worst cases, patients are critically ill, but the panic surrounding this virus creates a self-fulfilling prophecy of more people coming to the ER and being admitted. The financial incentives for hospitals certainly exacerbate this trend.

One particular change in policy that might be responsible for some of the inflation since October is the fact that they are now including those admitted to "observation" beds in the COVID hospitalization count. On Oct. 6, HHS updated its guidance for hospital data reporting. When reporting "total hospitalized adult suspected or confirmed positive COVID patients," they added a clause, not included in previous guidance, urging hospitals to "include those in observation beds."

Here's another contributing factor as to why reported hospitalizations have increased:Per updated (10/6) HHS guid… https://t.co/MLddQLY1Dd
— AJ Kay (@AJ Kay)1605646270.0

In case you thought this was just technical advice to hospitals, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services sent a letter to hospitals in October threatening harsh penalties for those who don't report this data. "Failure to report the specified data needed to support broader surveillance of COVID-19 may lead to the imposition of the remedy to terminate a provider's participation from the Medicare and Medicaid programs," warned CMS in a memo to all hospitals that serve Medicare and Medicaid patients.

Thus, if you combine the carrot and the stick — both the financial incentive to pad the COVID numbers and the threat of loss of funds for not reporting them — why would a hospital ever err on the side of underreporting and not overreporting? Remember, these incentives are driving the data reporting, which in turn is controlling the destiny of our lives.

Hospitalization is needed to obtain remdesivir

Another reason why a lot of COVID patients who are largely sub-clinical are being admitted to the hospital is because of the use of remdesivir. I've previously written on how this drug was proven to be completely ineffective by a massive study conducted by the World Health Organization. Nonetheless, it is the only FDA-approved drug for COVID-19 treatment, and in order to obtain it, one needs to be hospitalized for at least three days. As A.J. Kay, writer at RationalGround.com observes, because CMS waived the requirement for hospitals to produce a utilization review plan for this drug (because remdesivir is king), it necessitated hospital admission.

The approval of this drug took place on Oct. 22, which would also explain the recent surge in hospital numbers. It would also explain why ICU admissions don't seem to be rising commensurate to the hospital admissions.

The ratio of rate of increase between hospitalization and ICU was about the same until 4 days ago - where hospital… https://t.co/wn64AcRi8u
— Ethical Skeptic ☀ (@Ethical Skeptic ☀)1605249480.0

Clearly, there are many people being admitted who don't necessarily need to be there.

Car accidents and heart attacks magically become COVID

North Dakota and Iowa are the only states that distinguish those who are hospitalized because of COVID-19 from those hospitalized because of other ailments or injuries and just happen to test positive. Based on those numbers, I estimated that between 25% and 30% of the hospitalizations are really counting those admitted for other conditions who happen to have asymptomatic or mild cases of the virus, which are detected by universal testing in hospitals. But a new report from the Miami Herald suggest that in some states that number might be much higher.

On Wednesday, the Herald reported that out of 898 patients who tested positive in Miami's public hospitals last week, 52% of them "were admitted for other reasons, largely to emergency rooms, without typical COVID-19 signs." In other words, more than half of those who are now recorded as COVID hospitalizations are really admitted for anything from car accidents and broken bones to heart attacks, kidney stones, and abdominal pain. That is simply astounding.

The Herald uses this fact to sow more panic by suggesting that it is a sign of growing spread. Well, no kidding. This virus is everywhere and is as prolific as the flu is during flu season. But that's the point. Everyone is going to be exposed to this virus, and only a tiny percentage become sick enough to legitimately be hospitalized from it. However, during a period of ubiquitous spread, a large percentage of those in the hospital will test positive or even contract it after entering the hospital. Imagine if we counted everyone in the hospital during flu season as a flu case, even if they were asymptomatic and admitted for other reasons.

The irony is lost on the media and politicians that the overwhelming majority of cases are very mild or asymptomatic, but by panicking over the virus and treating every case like Stage 4 cancer, we are creating a self-fulfilling prophecy of straining hospitals with both illusory numbers and logistical problems with overaggressive quarantining of patients and staff.

Just remember these are the numbers that are being used to determine our ability to school our children, open our businesses, enjoy fresh air or entertainment, or even get together on Thanksgiving.

More than 85 wildfires are scorching the US West Coast in 'once-in-a-generation event'

More than 85 wildfires are burning through hundreds of thousands of acres up and down the West Coast in California, Oregon, and Washington in what many are calling an unprecedented event, CNN reported early Wednesday.

What are the details?

"We have fires burning in the north part of the state all the way down to the Mexican border, about 800 miles between the furthest distant fires, so we're stretched across the landscape," Cal Fire Chief Thom Porter said of the 25 fires currently burning in California.

Gusty wind conditions and high temperatures in the state are further exacerbating the situation. Authorities warned that the winds could soon drive the fires already burning into "new ferocity."

A similar situation is playing out in Oregon, as thousands of residents have been placed under evacuation orders as fast-moving fires sweep through the state, already scorching 230,000 acres.

On Tuesday, Oregon Gov. Kate Brown (D) issued an emergency declaration in hopes of getting more resources to local responders to battle the fires.

During a news conference, Brown called the situation "unprecedented" and a "once-in-a-generation event."

Washington Gov. Jay Inslee (D) also referred to the situation as "unprecedented." He told reporters that on Monday alone, 330,000 acres had burned in Washington state, which is more than had burned in the state's past 12 fire seasons.

The magnitude of the devastation was especially felt in the small farming town of Maiden, where 80% of the town's buildings were destroyed by a fire.

Inslee also pressed the issue of unnecessary human contribution in causing the fires.

"I just can't reiterate [it enough], we think almost all of these fires were human-caused, in some dimension," the governor said. "If you can avoid being outside for anything that would even cause a spark, I hope people can avoid those conditions."

One fire in California made headlines on Monday after it was reported that the blaze — which ended up scorching 7,300 acres — was the result of a smoke-generating pyrotechnic device used during a gender reveal party.

Anything else?

Just how widespread the problem is can be seen in a screenshot of the National Weather Service's homepage.

As of Wednesday morning, huge chunks of the country's West Coast, extending from the Canadian border in the north to the Mexican border in the south, were under "red flag warnings" (shown below in magenta), indicating critical fire conditions.

Image Source: National Weather Service screenshot

Red flag warnings mean that "critical fire weather conditions are either occurring now, or will shortly."

In the warning, the NWS notes that "a combination of strong winds, low relative humidity, and warm temperatures can contribute to extreme fire behavior."
