Mother suing American Airlines over son's heart attack death during flight, alleging defibrillator was faulty and crew unprepared

A New York City mother filed a federal lawsuit against American Airlines over the 2022 death of her 14-year-old son. The suit alleges that the plane's onboard defibrillator did not function correctly and accuses the flight crew of being unprepared and not being properly trained to use the medical equipment.

Melissa Arzu and her son were on American Airlines flight 614 from Honduras to Miami after enjoying a family summer vacation. During the flight, her son suddenly experienced a medical emergency.

Her 14-year-old son, Kevin Greenidge, allegedly lost consciousness shortly after takeoff.

The lawsuit – filed in federal court in Fort Worth, Texas, where American Airlines is headquartered – alleged that the flight crew was "delayed in responding" to Greenidge's medical episode.

The lawsuit claims that crewmembers "eventually attempted to use" the plane's automated external defibrillator, but they were "either unable to properly operate the machine or the machine did not function properly."

The suit alleges that the crew was not properly trained on how to use the type of AED that was on the flight.

The flight made an emergency landing in Cancun, Mexico. Greenidge was rushed to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The New York Post reported that Kevin had been diagnosed with asthma and type 2 diabetes prior to his death, and that his primary cause of death was listed as "myocardial infarction" — commonly known as a heart attack.

The lawsuit claims that Greenidge's chances of survival would have "vastly" increased if the flight had a functioning AED that the crew knew how to use.

"After Kevin died, I never heard from American Airlines," Arzu said. "It made me feel hopeless. I want answers from American Airlines. I want American Airlines to take full responsibility for Kevin’s death. I never want this to happen to a child or family again."

American Airlines told the Fort Worth Star-Telegram: "Our thoughts are with Mr. Greenridge’s loved ones. We are going to decline further comment given this matter involves pending litigation."

Hannah Crowe, the attorney representing Arzu, said, "The loss of a child is truly unimaginable, and the facts of this case are horrendous. Multiple eyewitnesses confirm that American Airlines flight personnel were slow to respond and not able to operate the AED machine, which appeared not to work."

Crowe alleged, "After Kevin died, the equipment went missing. Did someone at American intentionally destroy it? Is it defective, but back out in service? These are all really serious violations of the federal laws that are in place to protect passengers."

The lawsuit also claims that American Airlines failed to submit an advance payment of $113,100 for the sudden death of the teen, as per the company’s policy regarding the death of a passenger while on board.

Video: Airline passenger makes it brutally clear to race-baiting bigot that his nonsense won't fly

The American flying experience is shadowed not only by the threat of structural breakdown but also of social breakdown. Fortunately, there are remedies for both.

In the case of a recent American Airlines flight set to take off from Tampa, Florida, for Philadelphia, the remedy apparently took the form of a hulking off-duty cop with an apparent zero-tolerance policy for nonsense.

American Airlines flight 2506 was scheduled to depart Tampa International Airport Tuesday afternoon. However, a physical altercation broke out during boarding, resulting in a 30-minute delay, reported the Philadelphia Inquirer.

The incident, which was captured on video, appears to have started when an individual in a blue-striped shirt was asked to disembark and refused to do so.

A male flight attendant can be seen calmly asking the unruly passenger to comply. The passenger threatens the flight attendant, then returns to his seat.

After suggesting that the flight attendants were ganging up on him, the unruly passenger twice hurls anti-Semitic remarks, calling the male attendant a "k**e" and "k**e human."

This was Tuesday. Part 1 of 3. \ud83d\udc47\n\n\u201cYou as a k*** human\u201d
— (@)

The bigot evidently attracts the interest of at least one other passenger, who appears to recommend that he get off the plane.

"You want to be a tough guy, bro?" says the unruly passenger. "You're all teaming up. See how most of the people are white here?"

The unruly passenger tells the female flight attendant, "I'm trying to get to my home country, and you all people made it harder for me to get to my home country. I'm telling you, I'm telling you."

— (@)

Having sapped the goodwill in the airplane, the unruly passenger decides to get physical with a brawny man in a blue-hooded shirt and baseball hat.

"They want to see you up front, cos. Go up to the front," says the man in blue. "C'mon, c'mon."

No longer dealing with timid flight attendants, the unruly passenger's demeanor appears to shift. He calls the man in blue "big guy," then asks, "You gonna touch me?"

The man in blue indicates he is not interested in a physical confrontation, even as the unruly passenger shouts in his face.

As the female flight attendant calls for support, the unruly passenger takes a step in the right direction but pivots, approaching the man in blue, aggressively yelling, "You touch me, fool?"

The man in blue defensively pushes the bigot back; however, the unruly passenger swiftly closes the distance, attacking the man in blue and pushing him rearward into other people standing in the aisle.

The man in blue makes quick work out of the unruly passenger, putting him in a headlock.

"Now put your hands down and don't touch anybody," yells the man in blue.

A woman off camera can be heard announcing, "I'm a police officer.

The man in blue responds, "So am I."

"Turn around and walk," says the man in blue to the bigot.

With the help of the other self-identified cop, the man in blue successfully escorts the unruly passenger off the plane to the sound of applause.

Part 3 of 3. The Grand Finale.\ud83d\udc47\n\nCan we hire the guy in the blue hoodie to work the front lines of the soon-to-be-created deportation task force?
— (@)

The Tampa International Airport Police Department indicated that police arrested the unruly passenger just before 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. He was reportedly charged with disorderly intoxication and two counts of battery.

American Airlines told the Inquirer that law enforcement had been requested to the aircraft "due to a disturbance in the cabin involving a disruptive customer." According to the Federal Aviation Administration, the incident involved two passengers who got into a tussle during boarding.

"We thank our team for their professionalism and apologize to our customers for the inconvenience," said the airline.

Indiana mother of two, 41, dies suddenly on diverted American Airlines flight from Dominican Republic

An Indiana mother of two died suddenly after falling ill on an American Airlines flight headed to the United States that was forced to be diverted.

The unidentified 41-year-old woman was traveling on Wednesday from Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, on American Airlines Flight 2790 to Charlotte, North Carolina. The woman became violently ill during the flight.

Shortly after 6 p.m., the woman from central Indiana was given CPR on the commercial airplane. The plane was diverted to the Providenciales International Airport on the Caribbean island of Turks and Caicos for emergency medical help.

However, the woman suddenly died, according to police.

"A medical team, along with police units, were dispatched, and the patient was transported to Cheshire Hall Medical Centre, where she died," the Royal Turks and Caicos Island Police Force said in a press release.

Turks and Caicos authorities said a post-mortem examination will be conducted to determine the cause of the woman's sudden death.

American Airlines told Fox News that the flight flew to Charlotte the following day.

According to the outlet, a woman on Facebook identified the passenger as her sister-in-law.

"This was my sister-in-law," said the woman from Indiana named Stephanie Quinn. "We are in disbelief and our hearts are breaking."

"The only girl out of 5 siblings, so you can imagine how protected she was by those boys," Quinn alleged. "Mother of 2 beautiful children with big hearts and straight A's at school. Now my nephew won't have his mom at his graduation in May."

Quinn wrote to the Royal Turks and Caicos Island Police Force, "She is still down there so please take good care of her as she ventures home."

WTF: US patron booted from American Airlines flight to make room for illegal immigrant

U.S. children are being kicked out of schools to make room for illegal immigrants. Airports and other spaces are being repurposed to house illegal immigrants. American taxpayer dollars are being used to provide care and resources for illegal immigrants.

You get the picture: illegal immigrants > American citizens.

Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like the pattern will shift anytime soon, at least while Biden remains in office.

“I could not believe what I was watching this morning when I was on Twitter,” says Sara Gonzales before playing a clip of the local news report she stumbled across.

“Airline passengers are advised to check in with your Airlines mobile app as soon as possible — up to 24 hours in advance — and arrive at the airport with at least two hours before your plane takes off. That's because asylum seekers illegally released by the Department of Homeland Security are waiting on standby for seats, and if you aren't at the boarding gate when agents start to fill empty seats, you could be bumped,” a reporter warned.

She goes on to tell the story of one patron who “had trouble checking in on the American Airlines app” but still “arrived at the airport an hour before his flight” only to find out “had been bumped from the flight.”

Sara, who’s outraged by the situation, has witnessed firsthand how illegal immigrants are given priority at airports (and everywhere else).

“They get priority through TSA ... they get to take your seat on the plane, and then they get to come to a city near you where they get to keep your kids out of school because they get a cot in your kids’ school,” she says, referring to the many incidents of American children being forced out of school to house illegal immigrants.

“The state has to be paying these airlines in some capacity,” adds BlazeTV contributor Eric July. “That’s the only reason they would bump somebody off of a plane ... They’re getting their pockets lined."

In addition to Americans being treated as second-class citizens, there’re also serious implications to consider as the 2024 presidential election draws nearer.

“What does a legitimate election even look like with 50/60/70 million illegal immigrants in your country?” asks Blaze Media digital strategist Logan Hall.

To hear more of the conversation, watch the clip below.

American Airlines flight attendant accused of secretly recording several underage girls, as young as 7, in plane bathroom

A former American Airlines flight attendant is accused of secretly recording several underage girls inside the bathrooms of planes he was working aboard. The victims of the alleged covert recordings were as young as 7 years old, according to authorities.

Estes Carter Thompson III, 36, was arrested on Thursday in Lynchburg, Virginia.

Thompson was charged with one count of attempted sexual exploitation of children and one count of possession of child pornography depicting a prepubescent minor. Thompson will later be transferred to Boston to appear in federal court.

Thompson is accused of recording videos of at least five underage girls while they were inside the bathroom during American Airlines flights.

The now-former American Airlines flight attendant was allegedly busted by a 14-year-old girl who purportedly discovered the hidden phone inside the plane's bathroom in September.

As Blaze News previously reported, a family was traveling on Sept. 2, 2023, from Charlotte, North Carolina, to Boston, Massachusetts.

A 14-year-old girl sitting in coach went to use the bathroom, but it was occupied. Thompson reportedly approached the minor and informed her that the lavatory in first-class was available. The flight attendant allegedly escorted the girl to the first-class bathroom but reportedly told her that he needed to wash his hands before she used the facilities.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Massachusetts said on Thursday, "It is alleged that, after Thompson exited the lavatory, the minor victim entered and observed red stickers on the underside of the toilet seat lid, which was in the open position, that stated, 'INOPERATIVE CATERING EQUIPMENT' and 'REMOVE FROM SERVICE,' and 'SEAT BROKEN' was hand-written in black ink on one of the stickers. It is alleged that, beneath the red stickers, Thompson had concealed his iPhone to record a video."

The teen reportedly entered the bathroom, noticed the concealed iPhone, and used her cell phone to take photos of the suspicious situation.

Thompson immediately re-entered the lavatory after the girl exited, according to authorities.

She returned to her seat and informed her parents of the hidden phone in the bathroom, according to charging documents.

The alleged victim's parents reported the incident to other members of the flight crew, who then notified the pilot. The pilot reported the accusations to law enforcement.

Court documents said the teenager's father confronted Thomspon, who then retreated to the lavatory with his iPhone for three to five minutes before the plane began to descend.

After the American Airlines plane touched down at Logan Airport in Boston, law enforcement said Thompson's iPhone may have been restored to factory settings. Authorities then searched Thompson's suitcase and reportedly discovered 11 stickers that read “INOPERATIVE CATERING EQUIPMENT” – like those alleged to be in the airplane bathroom.

A subsequent search of Thompson's iCloud account found videos of underage girls using airplane bathrooms on American Airlines flights between January and August 2023, court docs stated. Prosecutors claimed the other alleged victims were ages 7, 9, 11, and 14. The alleged victims had been identified and their families were contacted by law enforcement.

USA Today reported, "The search also uncovered hundreds of images depicting child sexual abuse that had been generated by artificial intelligence, as well as more than 50 images of a 9-year-old girl who flew as an unaccompanied minor on an American Airlines flight, some of which Thompson took close up as she was sleeping, according to the complaint."

Following Thompson's arrest, American Airlines stressed that it takes "these allegations very seriously" and does not "reflect our airline or our core mission of caring for people."

"We have been fully cooperating with law enforcement in its investigation as there is nothing more important than the safety and security of our customers and team," the airline said in a statement.

American Airlines said that the company fired Thompson in September.

“Today, the FBI arrested Estes Carter Thompson III after he repeatedly targeted unsuspecting children to sexually exploit them for his own gratification. What Mr. Thompson is accused of doing is disgraceful, and we believe, calculated, given that this alleged conduct occurred on at least five flights,” said Jodi Cohen — special agent in charge of the FBI's Boston field office.

"This case should make it crystal clear that the FBI takes crimes aboard aircraft and the sexual exploitation of children seriously," Cohen added. "If you’ve been the victim of a crime aboard an aircraft or have witnessed one take place, we ask you to report it to both your flight crew and the FBI.”

U.S. Attorney Joshua Levy said, "The deeply disturbing conduct alleged here is something no parent or child should ever have to worry about when they travel. Mr. Thompson allegedly used his position to prey on and surreptitiously record innocent children, including unaccompanied minors, while in a vulnerable state aboard flights he was working."

The family of the 14-year-old girl sued American Airlines in December for not immediately confiscating Thompson's phone, which they claim allowed him to potentially “destroy evidence."

The family’s attorney, Paul Llewellyn, told the New York Post on Thursday, "It is also shocking to hear that he allegedly preyed on at least five minors while they were flying on American. While the criminal justice system must now run its course against the flight attendant, it remains to be seen whether American will finally take some measure of responsibility to the families for what happened. This should never have been allowed to happen and must never happen again.”

Thompson faces up to 30 years in prison if found guilty of attempted sexual exploitation of children and up to 20 years behind bars if convicted on the child pornography possession charge.

Under The Weight Of Southwest’s ‘Fatties Fly Free’ Policy, Normal People Will Pay More

There's nothing I hate more than waking up from a 40,000-foot nap to find my seatmate's sprawling caboose taking up half the seat I paid for. But that's just it: I paid for it.

'I literally did not see anything': Viral airplane lady tries to explain her American Airlines freakout

Tiffany Gomas, the infamous woman on an American Airlines flight who was seen saying "that motherf**ker is not real!" revealed on a podcast that she didn't actually see anything out of the ordinary and was simply using a figure of speech during an argument.

Speaking to the "Pardon My Take" podcast, the 38-year-old marketing executive claimed the original story was not quite what it seemed.

"Can I ask again what you saw?" said podcast host Dan Katz.

"The reason I probably haven’t come out yet, 'cause it's like so cringe," Gomas replied. "I did not see anything; I mean, I think y'all knew that."

"You said you did," host Hank Lockwood chimed in.

"No, I did not. The media —," Gomas responded.

"You said this motherf**ker's not real," Katz then added.

"I got in a bit of an altercation; it spiraled out of control; it was not my best moment. It was actually a horrible moment. Absolutely mortifying."

"That clip we all saw ... was not you thinking someone was an alien, it was just the tail end of an argument," Katz attempted to confirm.

"It was an expression of speech," the woman said.

"There was really bad energy, and I don’t want to get into all the details in all of that … as you know, it’s ongoing."

What did @Tiffany_Gomas see on that airplane?
— (@)

A police report obtained by the New York Post about a month after the incident reportedly stated that Gomas was worked up over an argument with relatives and accused them of stealing her AirPod wireless headphones.

Gomas also had remarks for other passengers before she headed to the front of the plane: “You can sit on this plane and you can f**king die with them or not. I’m not going to.”

Police wrote that “the female then started claiming the aircraft was not safe and did not want the aircraft to leave due to her believing it would not make it to its destination,” the July 2, 2023, document read.

A subsequent video showed Gomas saying "Stop the plane! Stop the plane!" before her infamous rant. She then told a flight attendant, "I need to get off this f***ing plane right now!"

Gomas vaguely said, "See what happens. See what happens after this. See what happens. See what the f*** happens after this."

Flight crew then attempted to retrieve her carry-on luggage, but Gomas said, "I don't even give a f*** about my s**t."

She has since issued apologies and promoted charitable T-shirts.

Parents accuse American Airlines flight attendant of hiding camera in bathroom to record teen daughter, share 'disturbing' photo

Parents have accused an American Airlines flight attendant of planting a hidden camera inside the plane's bathroom to record their teen daughter. The family has shared a photo of the hidden camera as purported evidence of the alleged crime.

The family was on American Airlines flight #1441 on Sept. 2, traveling from Charlotte, North Carolina, to Boston, Massachusetts.

Massachusetts State Police troopers and members of the FBI responded to a "potential criminal act" aboard a flight, according to WFXT. The Massachusetts State Police said the alleged criminal act happened mid-flight, therefore falling under the authority of federal law enforcement. An FBI spokesperson confirmed that federal agents investigated the situation but did not release any further details.

An American Airlines spokesperson previously said, "We take this matter very seriously and are fully cooperating with law enforcement in their investigation, as safety and security are our highest priorities."

WSOC-TV reported that the incident involved a "juvenile, a flight attendant, and a cell phone."

The unnamed father of the minor told Fox News this week that his daughter went to the coach bathroom on the plane, but a male flight attendant approached her and allegedly said, "You can use the bathroom up in first class, it’ll be quicker."

The flight attendant reportedly stopped the 14-year-old girl before she went into the bathroom and said, "Let me go in, I need to get in there and wash my hands. We're about to collect garbage."

The teen allegedly said that the man was in the bathroom for about a minute before exiting. He purportedly told the teenager that the bathroom seat was broken.

The juvenile purportedly entered the bathroom and saw that there was a handwritten sign that read: "SEAT BROKEN."

The minor allegedly used the bathroom. However, when she got up, she reportedly noticed an iPhone attached to the toilet seat that was mostly hidden behind the sign.

The teenager then took a photo of the hidden cell phone, which shows the light on the camera.

— (@)

The male flight attendant immediately went inside the lavatory after the teen exited, according to the girl.

The teenager reportedly told her mother about the hidden camera phone in the bathroom.

The mother went to the first-class bathroom and allegedly warned a female passenger, "Don't go in there. My daughter's just been in there, there's a camera in there."

The mother said she went inside the bathroom, but the cell phone was gone.

The father allegedly confronted the male flight attendant about the incident, and his face "went white" when he showed him the photo of the hidden cell phone.

The concerned parents reportedly informed other flight attendants, who then told the captain.

Authorities were at Boston Logan International Airport when the plane landed.

The family told Fox News that it was "very surprising" that they had "never heard a word" from American Airlines.

The father told the outlet, "One of the things you shouldn't have to worry about is that a member of the flight crew, who you're legally obligated to follow their instructions and who are trusted with your safety, that they're going to target one of your kids and obtain child pornography on a plane. I mean, it's just it blows your mind."

"I think as a teenage girl, she's embarrassed. I think it's, I mean, it's hard to imagine a more intimate violation of privacy than this," he continued. "And I mean, I think it's obvious what that setup was meant to film. And I think, it's just, it's disgusting."

No arrests have been made in relation to the incident.

American Airlines did not respond to a request for comment from the New York Post.

Guerilla street artist TROLLS woke American Airlines with brilliant and hilarious artwork

Leading the charge of major airline companies that have gone woke is American Airlines. Instead of focusing on flying planes safely, the company has been far more preoccupied with all things DEI, including gender inclusivity and affirmative action when it comes to its hiring practices.

Glenn Beck is sick of the leftist posturing — and so is guerilla street artist Sabo.

Last Saturday, fans headed to watch the Nate Diaz/Jake Paul fight were confronted with some of Sabo’s work.

The artist posted several pieces around Victory Park that ridiculed American Airlines’ woke corporate policies.

One poster featured the lines “welcome to the woke American Airlines! My pronouns are he/she/it/lost/baggage” above the image of an androgynous-looking pink-haired person.

When Glenn inquires about the identity of the person in the artwork, Sabo responds with: “I don’t know – I just don’t want whatever that thing is flying my plane.”

Another poster featured an image of a plane tied into a knot alongside the lines “get woke with American Airlines where diversity comes before safety. We have first class, business class, and woke class, where your middle seat can identify as a window seat.”

“So great,” says Glenn, who can’t help but giggle.

Glenn then asks Sabo if his American Airlines collection was inspired “by [the company’s] idea that they’re going to have diversity in the cockpit.”

“Yes, and when I hear something like that,” responds Sabo, “all I can think of is 300 people’s lives in the hands of someone who got hired as a token or a diversity hire.”
