Andrew Yang's wife excoriates New York Daily News cartoon for 'racist disfiguration' of her husband

Evelyn Yang excoriated the New York Daily News for publishing what she called a "racist disfiguration" of her husband and New York City mayoral candidate Andrew Yang.

The cartoon by Bill Bramhall mocked Yang with the common criticism that he wasn't enough of a true New Yorker by representing him as a tourist visiting Times Square.

The cartoon was a reference to Yang saying in an interview that Times Square was his favorite subway station, something many New Yorkers saw as an opinion held only by tourists.

"I can't believe my eyes. To publish this racist disfiguration of @AndrewYang as a tourist, in NYC where I was born, where Andrew has lived for 25 years, where our boys were born, where 16% of us are Asian and anti-Asian hate is up 900%," she responded.

She added a statement from the Asian American and Pacific Islander Victory Alliance denouncing Bramhall's cartoon and the New York Daily News.

"This is disgusting and wrong. Every single day Asian Americans have to fight the notion that we are foreigners. We are here and we're not going anywhere. That's why AAPI representation like @andrewyang is so important," the group said.

Evelyn Yang continued in a second tweet comparing the cartoon to an overtly racist cartoon depiction of a stereotypical Asian person.

Yang is the frontrunner in the mayoral race but he faces stiff competition from Eric Adams, a Brooklyn borough president and retired cop. Two other candidates in the mayoral race were mocked and ridiculed when they were woefully unprepared to answer what the cost of an average house or apartment is in New York City.

The election for the Democratic primary of the New York City mayoral race will be conducted on June 22.

Andrew Yang caves to leftist outrage over his tweet condemning Hamas terrorists

New York City mayoral candidate Andrew Yang appeared to apologize for a tweet condemning the terrorist attacks by Hamas militants on Israel after public outrage by the left and some of his own supporters.

"I'm standing with the people of Israel who are coming under bombardment attacks, and condemn the Hamas terrorists," said Yang in a tweet on Monday.

Yang, who is one of the frontrunners in the mayoral race, was harangued by Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) about the tweet on Tuesday but by Wednesday he acquiesced and cited many other detractors in his apology.

"I spoke to a group of volunteers for the campaign yesterday, some of whom have been with me for years. Many of them were upset with my recent tweet expressing solidarity with the people of Israel in conjunction with the violence in the region this week that has claimed the lives of innocents and children on both sides," said Yang in the lengthy statement posted to Twitter.

"They felt that my tweet was overly simplistic in my treatment of a conflict that has a long and complex history full of tragedies. And they felt it failed to acknowledge the pain and suffering on both sides. They were, of course, correct," he continued.

"I mourn for every Palestinian life taken before its time as I do for every Israeli," he continued. "Suffering and pain and violence and death suffered by anyone hurts us all. All people want to be able to live in peace. We all ways that for ourselves and our children."

Despite the clarification by Yang, many of his detractors were still unhappy that he did not condemn Israel in his new statement.

"The most telling part of @AndrewYang's erasure of Palestinian human rights, is he even used his apology to to say he's choosing sides. And that side is Israel," responded one critic on Twitter.

Yang wasn't the only mayoral candidate to have public relations troubles this week. Two candidates were mocked and ridiculed after they severely underestimated the cost of housing in NYC during a candidate interview.

Andrew Yang condemns Hamas terrorists; AOC denounces him as 'utterly shameful'

New York City mayoral candidate Andrew Yang condemned Hamas terrorists for attacking Israel and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) called him "utterly shameful" in response.

Yang, an entrepreneur and former presidential candidate, tweeted his support for the Israeli people "who are coming under bombardment attacks" on Monday.

"The people of NYC will always stand with our brothers and sisters in Israel who face down terrorism and persevere," he added.

One person of NYC that did not always stand with Israel was Ocasio-Cortez who was offended that Yang would offer his support to Israelis while he was scheduled to hand out groceries to Muslims celebrating the end of Ramadan, their religious season.

"Utterly shameful for Yang to try to show up to an Eid event after sending out a chest-thumping statement of support for a strike killing 9 children, especially after his silence as Al-Aqsa was attacked," she tweeted on Tuesday.

Yang told reporters that the organizers of the event asked him to cancel his appearance.

Hamas fired numerous rockets into Israel from the Gaza Strip after violence erupted between Palestinian protesters and police in Jerusalem. The Israelis retaliated with airstrikes on military targets in the Gaza. Palestinians have reported that as many as 20 people died in the airstrikes, including some children.

On Tuesday violence spilled into the streets of several Israeli cities where Palestinians and their supporters attacked Jews, their homes and their businesses. The mayor of the town of Lod said the attacks were similar of those on Kristallnacht, when Jews were attacked in Nazi Germany.

Skirmishes between the supporters of Israel and those of the Palestinian cause erupted in New York City as well.

Andrew Yang tells Democrats they have lost touch with the working class; liberals lash out at him on social media

Former presidential candidate and entrepreneur Andrew Yang scolded the Democratic party on CNN on Thursday, telling them that they had lost touch with the working class, and liberals responded by excoriating him on social media.

Yang made the comments while on CNN Thursday evening discussing the results of the election and the disappointing losses to Democrats in Congress.

He explained that when he was a candidate he would tell working class Americans that he was running as a Democrat and that they they would often flinch as if he'd said something negative.

"There's something deeply wrong when working class Americans have that response to a major party that theoretically is supposed to be fighting for them, so you have to ask yourself what has the Democratic party been standing for in their minds?" Yang said.

"And in their minds the Democratic party unfortunately, has taken on this role of the coastal urban elites who are more concerned about policing various cultural issues than improving their way of life, that has been declining for years." he explained. "And so if you're in that situation, this to me is a fundamental problem for the Democratic party because if they don't figure this out, then this polarization and division will get worse not better."

"Is that real or messaging or both?" asked CNN host Don Lemon.

"It's real, I mean [Democratic Rep.] Debbie [Dingle of Michigan] just said they lost a plant that had 1,500 workers, and so if you're a laid off worker from that plant and you look up and say 'what is the Democratic party doing for me,' its unclear!" Yang responded.

"And we can talk about a unifying message from Joe Biden, he's a naturally very unifying figure," he continued. "But then there's the reality on the ground where their way of life has been disintegrating for years and if we don't address that then you're going to see a continued acceleration towards the institutional mistrust that animated the Trump vote and will continue to do so."

"Your white supremacy is showing"

While Yang's criticism of the Democratic party has been echoed by many pundits and political activists, some liberals on social media lashed out at him in anger against the constructive criticism.

"SHUT THE F**K UP ANDREW YANG THE WORKING CLASS IS WOMEN AND LATINOS AND BLACK PEOPLE AND QUEER PEOPLE WE ARE THE WORKING CLASS F**K YOU," said feminist atheist writer Marcie Bianco in a tweet.

"If you say 'working class' your white supremacy is showing THE END," she added in a second tweet before she made her account private.

"Andrew Yang is a clown and a buffoon who is here using antisemitic and homophobic tropes because (and this is true) he is also an a**hole," tweeted liberal commentator Noah Berlatsky.

"Hey @AndrewYang ... you're from New York. You were a corporate lawyer then a dot-com profiteer. You /are/ the coastal urban elite," tweeted journalist David Perry.

"Why doesn't Andrew Yang take some of his gigantic pile of money an do something useful with it instead of lecturing people about needing the votes of racist s**theads because of our garbage electoral system?" tweeted chemist Tim Dreier.
