After former President Donald Trump announced on Thursday that his attorneys had been notified that he had been indicted, business magnate Elon Musk noted that there appears to be significantly more interest in going after Trump than other political figures.

"There does seem to be far higher interest in pursuing Trump compared to other people in politics. Very important that the justice system rebut what appears to be differential enforcement or they will lose public trust," Musk wrote.

The former president has maintained that he is completely innocent.

"I have been summoned to appear at the Federal Courthouse in Miami on Tuesday, at 3 PM. I never thought it possible that such a thing could happen to a former President of the United States, who received far more votes than any sitting President in the History of our Country, and is currently leading, by far, all Candidates, both Democrat and Republican, in Polls of the 2024 Presidential Election. I AM AN INNOCENT MAN!" he declared in a statement.

Special counsel Jack Smith said during remarks on Friday that an indictment unsealed on Friday charges "Trump with felony violations of our national security laws" and "participating in a conspiracy to obstruct justice."

The indictment comes as Trump is currently running for president again, leading the pack of Republican presidential candidates vying to become the party's 2024 presidential nominee.

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, who is among the field of candidates running for the Republican presidential nomination, issued a tweet in which he said, "The weaponization of federal law enforcement represents a mortal threat to a free society. We have for years witnessed an uneven application of the law depending upon political affiliation. Why so zealous in pursuing Trump yet so passive about Hillary or Hunter? The DeSantis administration will bring accountability to the DOJ, excise political bias and end weaponization once and for all."

Musk responded to someone's suggestion that "Trump should do a Twitter space to talk about the sham indictment."

"That would be interesting," Musk replied.

Trump was permanently suspended from Twitter in 2021, but while Trump's account was reinstated after Musk took over the company, Trump has not returned to using the platform.

California's first Muslim assemblyman joins Christian lawmakers in protesting Democrats' ceremony honoring gay pornographer from anti-Catholic group



The Los Angeles Dodgers are not the only woke outfit paying homage to an anti-Christian group this month. California Democrats honored a member of the so-called Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence on the floor of the state Senate Monday.

Republican lawmakers, unwilling to be party to the endorsement of the group and/or its ambassador, joined the Catholics, Evangelicals, and real nuns gathered outside the state Capitol in peaceful protest.

Among those who stood up and walked out in solidarity was Republican Assemblyman Bill Essayli, the first Muslim elected to the California State Assembly.

Essayli held up a sign that read "Religious bigotry is bigotry," then walked off the Assembly floor in protest of the ceremony honoring the SPI. He later noted on Instagram, "This group engages in outrageous displays of mockery and ridicule against more than one billion Catholics worldwide."

TheBlaze previously reported that the SPI touts itself as a "leading-edge order of queer and trans nuns."

The motto for the San Francisco-based group is "go forth and sin some more," an inversion of Christ's command to "go, and sin no more."

Extra to ridiculing Catholic teaching and doctrine — the church's orthodox views on marriage, sexuality, homosexuality, transgenderism, and abortion in particular — the group has defiled the Eucharist and performed public sex acts involving religious icons.

A viral video recently shared on Twitter by Claremont fellow Megan Basham showed a performance by alleged members of the group wherein one male stripper writhed and gyrated on a second male stripper pretending to be the crucified Christ.

KGO-TV reported that Michael Williams, the Bay Area transvestite who calls himself Sister Roma, was invited to the state Capitol in Sacramento as part of a celebration of LGBT activism.

Williams, a staunch supporter of both COVID-19 masking and bringing kids to drag shows, is a gay pornography director and fetishist who made headlines for his participation in a 2007 BDSM-themed mockery of Leonardo da Vinci's depiction of Christ's last supper.

He said, "I'm completely floored that I'm being recognized with this amazing honor."

State Sen. Scott Wiener, who claimed that "the word groomer is categorically an anti-LGBTQ hate word" then advanced a law that made California a sanctuary state for child sex-change mutilations, was the member of the LGBTQ caucus responsible for inviting Williams to the state Senate.

Wiener, also responsible for a law enabling judges to keep men who prey on grade schoolers 10 years their junior, between the ages of 14 and 17, off sex-offender registries, added, "Catholic organizations that are demonizing the Sisters and saying that they are somehow hateful or anti-Catholic have it completely backwards."

Jonathan Keller, president of the California Family Council, said of the ceremony, "It’s disheartening to see the Los Angeles Dodgers, and now the California Legislature honor a group characterized by its mockery of Christianity in general and Catholicism in particular. This promotion of the blasphemous ‘Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence’ shows a clear disregard for the religious sentiments of millions of Californians. Such an act sends a troubling message to our people of faith across the Golden State."

Republican state senators, less than enthused about Wiener's nominee and the hate group he hails from, penned a letter last week to leftist Senate leader Toni Atkins (D), requesting that the invitation to the hate-group member be withdrawn, reported the Los Angeles Times.
"The Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, through their public disparagement of the Catholic Faith, have displayed a disregard for the principles of tolerance and understanding that should guide our society. Honoring them in the Senate Chambers would be inappropriate and contrary to the values we hold dear," said the letter.

Atkins denied the request, writing, "The request to remove a philanthropic member of our LGBTQ+ community from the LGBTQ Caucus' Pride Month honorees is a misguided distraction on the first day of Pride month. As a member of the LGBTQ+ community, I respect my Republican colleagues, but I'm extremely disappointed in them for leaning in to polarization."

While the tranvestic member of the hate group was ultimately honored, Republicans removed themselves so as not to endorse the SPI and its anti-Christian message.

James Gallagher, the Assembly Republican Leader, stated, "I will not be participating in the recognition of a member of the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence. As a Christian, I love all people. I believe Christ made a path to salvation for all who want to follow. I also believe strongly in religious freedom and I have compassion, tolerance and respect for those who believe differently. No one should be discriminated against simply because of who they are or what they believe."

"That is why I will not celebrate those who engage in religious bigotry or attempt to co-opt our faith into something it is not," continued Gallagher. "Their vulgar mockery of our Christian faith is extremely insulting and disrespectful. We cannot condone this."

Senate Minority Leader Brian Jones (R) told Fox News Digital, "Senate Democrats have shown a blatant disregard for the 10 million Catholic Californians in our state," adding, "were this group to spread hateful messages about Jews, Muslims, Hindus, or any other religion, Senate Democrats would certainly not extend this invitation."

KNVN reported that Gallagher joined Sacramento Catholic Bishop Jaime Soto at the prayer protest outside, who recited the Our Father.

Essayli, an Abrahamic ally, stressed on Instagram, "An attack against one faith is an attack on all faith. Bigotry of any kind cannot be tolerated, or worse yet, formally dignified by the State of California."

Sex worker at Bunny Ranch brothel arrested after shots fired and hours-long standoff, OnlyFans model claims she was falsely accused



A sex worker at a legal brothel in Northern Nevada was arrested after shots were fired and an hours-long standoff, according to police. The sex worker claimed that she was falsely accused and plans to tell her side of the story on her OnlyFans account.

Savannah Henderson, also known by her performer name, "Tiara Tae," is a worker at the Moonlite Bunny Ranch – the legal brothel featured in the adult reality TV series "Cathouse" on HBO in the 2000s. On Monday, Henderson was arrested and booked into Lyon County Jail on felony charges of four counts of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, one count of possession of a controlled substance, discharging a firearm where others may be endangered, and a misdemeanor charge of obstructing/resisting a peace officer.

Henderson was released on Tuesday after paying $86,140 in bail.

Around 9:30 p.m. on Monday, police officers with the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office reportedly responded to a call about two workers having an argument at the Moonlite Bunny Ranch in Mound House. During the 911 phone call, the dispatcher allegedly heard gunshots in the background.

The Lyon County Sheriff's Office said in statement, "Upon the arrival of Lyon County Sheriff's Office personnel, several more gunshots were heard. LCSO personnel immediately began an evacuation of the building and determined a single employee of the Moonlight Bunny Ranch had discharged a firearm."

The armed employee allegedly "retreated" to a room inside the brothel, according to LCSO Sheriff Brad Pope.

A SWAT team, a crisis negotiating team, and other local police departments were reportedly deployed to the standoff situation.

At 12:33 a.m. on Tuesday, Henderson allegedly surrendered to authorities, and she was arrested.

The Lyon County Sheriff's Office said that no one was injured during the shooting, and there is no current threat to the public.

Henderson disputes the charges and claims that she was falsely accused. She said that she was "feeling relief" that the charges would be dropped.

Henderson, who labels herself as "bully Barbie," teased that she would release "juicy details" regarding her arrest on her OnlyFans account.

Henderson appeared on the cover of the March 2019 issue of Hustler magazine, according to the New York Post.

California law may backfire terribly as 70,000 independent truckers could be forced out of work, unleashing 'devastating' supply chain misery



A California law threatens to unleash more supply chain misery and inflation on residents of the Golden State by forcing independent truckers out of the workforce.

California Assembly Bill 5 was introduced by former state Assemblywoman Lorena Gonzalez, a Democrat, and signed into law in September 2019 by California Gov. Gavin Newsom.

AB5 called for "a person providing labor or services for remuneration shall be considered an employee rather than an independent contractor unless the hiring entity demonstrates that the person is free from the control and direction of the hiring entity in connection with the performance of the work, the person performs work that is outside the usual course of the hiring entity’s business, and the person is customarily engaged in an independently established trade, occupation, or business."

Certain professions were exempt from AB5, including insurance agents, health care professionals, investment advisers, realtors, barbers, and fishermen. However, truckers were not exempt from AB5.

AB5 targeted independent contractors who were app-based delivery and rideshare drivers. Ironically, companies like Uber, Lyft, and Postmates were exempted from AB5 after Proposition 22 was passed in November 2020.

The trucking industry has been fighting the law ever since it went into effect, and secured an injunction that prevented AB5 from including independent truckers in January 2020.

California Attorney General Xavier Becerra called on U.S. District Judge Roger T. Benitez to reverse the injunction.

"The district court also abused its discretion in assessing the remaining preliminary injunction factors, erroneously concluding that Plaintiffs established irreparable harm despite the fact that they waited over 19 months to seek injunctive relief, and giving short-shrift to the State’s interest in addressing misclassification of state employees," Becerra stated in March 2020. "This Court should reverse."

On June 28, the U.S. Supreme Court declined to review the case of the California truckers battling against AB5.

"This ruling really took everybody off-guard, especially at the speed that they kicked this back and essentially made it law," Paul Brashier – vice president of a commercial transport company – told CBS News.

Now, the truckers must be employees of trucking companies and not independent contractors in order to be able to work in California.

However, there seems to be confusion on how the law will be enforced.

Norita Taylor, director of public relations for the Owner-Operator Independent Drivers Association, informed Bloomberg, "We have never gotten any good answers from anyone official in California on how this is supposed to be enforced or how our members can comply."

If the law is enforced, California faces a possible mass exodus of the state's estimated 70,000 independent truckers.

The Port of Oakland is especially vulnerable if independent truckers are forced out of work.

"There's 9,000 trucks that serve the port on a daily basis, and 90% of them are independent contractors. So, this is a big, big impact," said Bill Aboudi owner of AB Trucking in Oakland.

Aboudi explained that his independent contractors own their own trucks.

"It just doesn't work. You own your own truck, it's your truck. I can't take possession of it and start using it," he added. "In a case like my company, we just eliminate owner/operators and just reduce the workload."

Kevin McMaster – vice president of carrier sales at Flock Freight – noted, "This would cause a ripple effect in the industry, pushing many drivers who don’t want to apply for their own authority to lease out of state, likely in Arizona or Nevada, and even force some into retirement due to increased market pressures. There will likely be pressure added on capacity in California that could exacerbate an already tough environment where drivers are at a premium."

Brashier believes many independent truckers will leave California for states where they can work as contractors. The departure of the truck-owner operators would likely negatively impact Californians.

"It's going to adversely affect everybody," he told KPIX-TV. "And at the end of the day, with where we are with inflation being as high as it is, this is going to put inflationary pressure on the consumer, right?"

The California Trucking Association delivered a warning, "Gasoline has been poured on the fire that is our ongoing supply chain crisis. In addition to the direct impact on California’s 70,000 owner-operators who have seven days to cease long-standing independent businesses, the impact of taking tens of thousands of truck drivers off the road will have devastating repercussions on an already fragile supply chain, increasing costs and worsening runaway inflation."

Lorena Gonzalez – who authored AB5 and resigned from the state assembly in January – had no sympathy for the truckers.

"They’ve known for the last two and a half years that it was equally possible that this injunction would not hold," Gonzalez said. "This is not a shock.”

"The fact that trucking companies will have to abide by basic labor laws in CA takes us one step closer to rebuilding the middle class that was almost deregulated out of existence," tweeted Gonzalez – who now heads the California Labor Federation.

On Wednesday, California Republican lawmakers implored Democratic Gov. Newsom to either delay the implementation of the law or exempt truckers from AB5.

Horowitz: The need for states to thwart federal persecution of political opponents



If COVID was the pretext to criminalize our bodies, then January 6 was the ploy to criminalize our social and political views. The regime is now arresting people for merely protesting regime policies without committing an actionable crime simply because they are political opponents. Meanwhile, regime supporters can directly call for violence, have their supporters follow up and attempt to assassinate a Supreme Court justice, and the regime will continue to praise the protesters and even insinuate the coming of a “mini-revolution.” The past week’s events have made it clear we need a national divorce and cannot live harmoniously with these people. As such, it’s time for red-state governors to protect the civil rights of political dissidents with as much vigor as the regime has for violating them.

On Thursday, a team of FBI stormtroopers raided the Michigan home of Ryan Kelley, one of the leading GOP candidates for governor. His crime? Being at the protest outside the Capitol. The Feds accused him of “gesturing” to protesters to storm the Capitol and used some comments he made during the heat of the protest to incriminate him; however, the proof being in the pudding, Kelly never entered the Capitol at all. Using this as the threshold for arrest, millions of BLM protesters should be sitting in jail, when in fact even those who burned, beat, looted, and vandalized were never cited, much less punished. Oh, and he was arrested by the same Michigan FBI office that was engaged in entrapment and basically concocted the kidnapping plot against Governor Whitmer. As Julie Kelly reported, “More than a dozen FBI undercover agents and informants were involved in the kidnapping caper; Dan Chappel, the lead informant, was compensated at least $60,000 by the FBI for six months’ work, paid in cash for services rendered, and reimbursement for expenses.”

Obviously, the arrest of Ryan Kelley coincides with the Hollywood documentary-style January 6 committee hearings and is a day after Biden promised Jimmy Kimmel he would send his political opponents to jail for not playing by the rules. In a sadistic twist of irony, in that same interview, he “predicted’ a “mini-revolution” if Roe is overturned, even though the day before, a young man was arrested for an attempted assassination of Justice Kavanaugh for potentially overturning Roe.

So here are the rules of the game. Democrats can directly call for violence, have their supporters take up the call, and they are not held politically accountable and even double down on their comments. Yet for any individual involved in a protest or – in the case of Peter Navarro and law professor John Eastman – merely giving a legal opinion on something that was associated with violent acts of a selected few individuals (encouraged by FBI agents like Ray Epps) – their legal and political opinions or forms of protest are now deemed criminal acts.

"I want to tell you, Gorsuch, I want to tell you, Kavanaugh, you have released the whirlwind and you will pay the price," Schumer, who was then minority leader, said at the time. "You won't know what hit you if you go forward with these awful decisions."

Keep in mind, there are no elections for Supreme Court, so there is no way he could have meant these words figuratively, about an election, in the heat of political debate. There is only one thing he could have meant, and now we have ubiquitous protests outside their homes and one individual as an alleged assassin. I’m not suggesting we head down the slippery slope of criminalizing Schumer’s words, but the government is criminalizing any opinion even if there is no violence inherent in the words.

We constantly hear the left wax poetic about the degree of violence on January 6, the damage, and the threat to slaughter thousands of people, even though, interestingly enough, all of the videos only seem to show violence outside, but those in the Capitol either did nothing or goofed off. Some even exchanged friendly words with officers in the Senate chamber.

Yet these same people seem to forget that dozens of Secret Service agents were injured in a BLM riot at the White House in May 2020. What about the broader scope of the BLM riots?

According to a report by the Major Cities Chiefs Association (MCCA):

  • There were 574 riots in the U.S. and Canada between May 25 and July 31, 2020, stemming from about 8,700 protest events.
  • More than 2,000 officers were injured in those riots.
  • 72% of major city law enforcement agencies had officers harmed during the protests.
  • More than half of major city law enforcement agencies (56%) experienced arson incidents.

In Minneapolis alone, rioters burned down more than 1,500 businesses, as well as police stations and schools, and caused over $500 million in damages. Nationwide, there was between $1 and $2 billion in insurance claims for damages from the riots. Yet not only did no Democrat condemn the violence, as every conservative condemned the violence on January 6, Democrats praised it, encouraged it, joined it, declared it a new civil rights movement, and dedicated memorials and ostensibly a new national holiday to it. Across the nation, even those who committed the worst forms of arson got off with a slap on the wrist, and most of the extremely violent rioters in Portland had their charges dropped. Oh, and unlike January 6, they didn’t need FBI agent provocateurs to get violent, they did it on their own.

According to the Oregonian, out of 974 criminal cases stemming from the Portland riots over the past several months, 666 were dropped by Multnomah District Attorney Mike Schmidt. Moreover, only seven out of the 39 arrests for assaulting police officers resulted in charges being filed. The outlet even found 18 individuals who were arrested three or more times throughout the rioting since May. Nearly all the charges have been dropped.

The Oregonian further found that even some of the cases that were initially listed as having criminal charges lodged against the defendant were later dropped. "But court records show prosecutors have subsequently decided to drop all charges in at least 22 of these cases, some that have included allegations of riot, burglary and unlawful use of a weapon."

This is not a mere double standard; this is a systematic persecution in the most grotesque form of anarcho-tyranny. It’s quite evident that Democrats will work assiduously to protect their political supporters, even those who commit the most heinous acts. Isn’t it time for Republican governors to protect our political supporters, especially those who never committed a violent act or any criminal act?

Many red states are contemplating a “Second Amendment sanctuary,” but there is an even more urgent need to establish a First Amendment sanctuary. All GOP governors, backed by their respective legislatures, should announce in press conferences that state troopers will prohibit the entry of federal agents to arrest any political opponent where there is no evidence the target has committed an act of violence. They should also refuse to work with the FBI on any other issue until this crisis is resolved.

One such bill has been introduced in Oklahoma by state Senator Nathan Dahm. SB 1166, the “Prohibition on Political Prisoners in Oklahoma Act,” would prohibit the federal government from transporting any January 6 prisoner through the state if they are not being charged with a felony.

If Democrat states can become sanctuaries to protect illegal alien sex offenders from ICE, then you better believe red states should become sanctuaries for Americans targeted by the regime simply because of their political opposition.

Wynonna and Ashley Judd tearfully commemorate Naomi Judd at Country Music Hall of Fame 1 day after her death: 'I'm sorry that she couldn't hang on'



Musician Wynonna Judd and her sister, actress Ashley Judd, commemorated their mother, country star Naomi Judd, on Sunday as they accepted the Judds' induction into the Country Music Hall of Fame.

Naomi died on Saturday at the age of 76 following a battle with her mental health.

"While this is so much about the Judds as a duo, I want to take a moment to recognize my sister, a GOAT," she said, pointing to the acronym that means "greatest of all time."

Wynonna added, "I didn't prepare anything tonight because I knew mom would probably talk the most. I'm gonna make this fast, because my heart's broken, and I feel so blessed. It's a very strange dynamic, to be this broken and this blessed. ... Though my heart’s broken, I will continue to sing, because that’s what we do."

In a Saturday statement on Naomi's passing, Ashley and Wynonna said, "Today we sisters experienced a tragedy. We lost our beautiful mother to the disease of mental illness. We are shattered. We are navigating profound grief and know that as we loved her, she was loved by her public. We are in unknown territory.”

In 2016, Naomi told “Good Morning America" host Robin Roberts that she suffered from "extreme" and "severe depression" that often left her homebound.

"[Fans] see me in rhinestones, you know, with glitter in my hair, that really is who I am,” she said at the time. “But then I would come home and not leave the house for three weeks, and not get out of my pajamas, and not practice normal hygiene. It was really bad.”

And that's exactly what happened Saturday night in Charlotte, North Carolina, when nearly 75,000 soccer fans gathered in a sold-out Bank of America Stadium for Charlotte FC’s home opener against LA Galaxy.

Cause of Stanford soccer star Katie Meyer's tragic death revealed



Stanford soccer goalkeeper Katie Meyer, who helped lead the school to victory in the 2019 NCAA College Cup championship, was found dead Tuesday at one of the university’s residence halls.

The County of Santa Clara Medical Examiner-Coroner released a statement Thursday determining the 22-year-old soccer star died by suicide.

“Katie was extraordinarily committed to everything and everyone in her world. Her friends describe her as a larger-than-life team player in all her pursuits,” Stanford University said in a statement. “Katie was a bright shining light for so many on the field and in our community. There are no words to express the emptiness that we feel at this moment."

Katie’s parents, Gina and Steven Meyer, spoke out about their daughters' death by suicide on the "Today" show on Friday.

Newsom claims he removed mask for 'brief second' to snap photo with NBA legend. Photo evidence shows otherwise.



California Gov. Gavin Newsom stopped short on Monday of admitting that he made a mistake after he was caught, once again, not abiding by COVID-19 rules.

Instead, the Democratic governor defended himself and denied what photographic evidence clearly showed.

What is the background?

Newsom and Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti (D) flouted COVID-19 mask rules while attending the NFC Championship Game at SoFi Stadium on Sunday.

By not wearing face coverings, the Democratic leaders violated a series of COVID restrictions, including California's universal indoor mask mandate (which was recently extended), Los Angeles County's mask guidelines, and those in place at SoFi Stadium.

Newsom's hypocrisy on COVID restrictions was exposed after NBA legend Magic Johnson posted a picture with Newsom on social media. In that photo, Newsom was not wearing a mask. Johnson also posted photos with Garcetti and San Francisco Mayor London Breed (D), neither of whom were wearing masks.

How did Newsom respond?

At a press conference, Newsom abdicated all responsibility for skirting COVID rules, instead saying he removed his mask only for the photo with Johnson.

"I was very judicious yesterday, very judicious," Newsom claimed.

"You’ll see the photo that I did take, where Magic was kind enough, generous enough, to ask me for a photograph and in my left hand’s the mask and I took the photo," he explained. "The rest of the time I wore it as we all should, um — not when I had a glass of water — and I encourage everybody else to do so. And, uh, that’s it."

When one reporter asked Newsom if he should have "reconsidered" taking his mask off "given your history with this issue" — a clear reference to Newsom's serial hypocrisy on COVID restrictions — Newsom almost admitted that he had made a mistake, but stopped short of actually saying that.

"Yes, of course. I was trying to be gracious. I made a mis — I was trying to be gracious," he said. "I took the mask off for a brief second, but no, I encourage people to continue to wear them."

Is that true?

The Los Angeles Rams' "fan cam" caught Newsom without his mask on while sitting in his seat. At the time the picture was taken, it was not the "brief second" that he met with Johnson for the photograph.

Newsom's mask was down around his face, dangling from one ear. He was not eating or drinking. Interestingly, none of the people around him were wearing masks, either.

Security guard, a former cop, shot and killed while protecting TV news crew during robbery; colleagues honor 'kind person with a heart of gold'



A former police officer turned security guard was gunned down while protecting a TV news crew in Oakland, California. Kevin Nishita succumbed to his gunshot injuries and passed away. A reward is being offered for information that leads to the arrest of the gunman.

On Nov. 24, a KRON-TV news team was covering the aftermath of a smash-and-grab robbery where 12 thieves raided a clothing store. At 12:20 p.m., an assailant allegedly attempted to steal KRON's camera equipment. Nishita — who was providing security for the TV news crew — attempted to protect the KRON employees, but a gunman shot the security guard.

Nishita was shot in the lower abdomen, and rushed to the Highland Hospital. He was in critical condition and needed emergency surgery. Sadly, Nishita passed away at 4:39 a.m. on Saturday.

An onlooker was hit by bullet shrapnel, according to the Oakland Police Department. He was taken to a hospital, and is listed in stable condition.

The Oakland Police Department released a photo of the suspect's vehicle: a 2004–2008 Acura TL, white, 4-door, with a sunroof and no front license plate.

A reward of $32,500 is being offered to anyone who provides information that leads to the arrest of the shooter. KRON and its parent company, Nexstar Media Inc.; Nishita's employer, Star Protection Agency; and the Oakland Police Department donated to the reward fund.

Investigators with Oakland Police Department's Homicide Section are asking anyone with information to contact them at (510) 238-3426.

Nishita leaves behind a wife, two children, and three grandchildren.

Prior to working as a security guard, Nishita served as a police officer at the Oakland Housing Authority, Hayward Police, San Jose Police, and the Colma Police departments.

Tributes poured in from police departments in the area.

"It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of retired Sergeant Kevin Nishita. On 11/24/21, Kevin was shot while providing security as an armed guard in Oakland. He was rushed to a local hospital for medical attention and succumbed to his injuries this morning," the Colma Police Department said on social media.

The San Jose Police Department released a statement on the murder of one of their former officers.

It is with great sadness and broken hearts that we are sharing the news of the passing of former San José Police Officer Kevin Nishita #3740. On November 24, 2021, Kevin was working a security detail for a local news crew in the City of Oakland when he was shot during an attempted robbery. He was taken to a local hospital with a life-threatening injury, he remained in critical condition until today when he succumbed to his injury.
Kevin was employed by the City of San José as a Police Officer from 2001-2012. During his time with us he worked as a Gang Investigations detective as well as working our Gaming/Vice Unit. In addition to his Police assignments, Kevin also spent some time representing his peers as a director with the San José Police Officers Association. In 2012 he joined the Colma Police Department.

San José Chief of Police Anthony Mata said, "We are heartbroken and mourning the passing of retired Colma Police Department Sergeant Kevin Nishita. Kevin was part of our San José Police family for eleven years wearing the San José Police patch with great pride."

"His contagious smile, passion to serve others, and an unmatched work ethic embodied the best of all of us," Mata continued. "As a patrol officer, gang detective, and as a person, Kevin modeled bravery, kindness, and dedication helping make San José a better place for everyone."

"We must work together and stay committed to stop senseless violence and the loss of precious life and hold those committing these acts accountable," he added.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with the Nishita family during this difficult time as we honor Kevin's memory. Our flags will remain at half-staff until his funeral," Mata concluded. "Our sincerest condolences to the Nishita family, he leaves behind a wife, children, and grandchildren. He touched many of us and will not be forgotten by those us who still called him friend at the San José Police Department. Godspeed."

KRON employees reacted to the tragic shooting death by praising Nishita.

"Words cannot express my heartbreak. Kevin Nishita was a good man who took his job seriously. He kept me and my colleagues safe. He did not deserve this. He and his family will be forever in my prayers," said KRON reporter Maureen Kelly.
