DeSantis' scathing response to Gavin Newsom's threats

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis recently sent tens of migrants from the U.S. southern border to California on private planes — and California Governor Gavin Newsom is not happy.

While Newsom has threatened criminal charges, DeSantis is not backing down and has responded to Newsom’s accusations.

“These sanctuary jurisdictions are part of the reason we have this problem because they have endorsed and agitated for these types of open-border policies,” DeSantis began.

“They have bragged that they are sanctuary jurisdictions. They attack the previous administration’s efforts to try to have border security and so that’s the policies they’ve [staked] out,” he continued.

“When they have to deal with some of the fruits of that, they all of a sudden become very, very upset about that,” he added.

DeSantis says this is because California is a sanctuary state, which means it prohibits local and state agencies from cooperating with ICE regarding illegal immigrants who have committed misdemeanors.

He believes that the border should be closed and the mess that follows when it's not should be cleaned up by those advocating for an open border.

“We’re not a sanctuary in Florida,” DeSantis continues, “why don’t we all just come together and say the current policy is a failure? Any country worth its salt would have control over its own borders.”

Dave Rubin agrees.

“Just on the tone and the body language, when you’re telling the truth versus lying, it’s just so obvious who’s in the right here,” he says.

“To his last point, shouldn’t Gavin Newsom — even if Gavin Newsom believes that Cali should be a sanctuary state, in San Francisco we should just welcome more illegals to enjoy the free fentanyl and everything — shouldn’t his frustration be with Biden first?” Rubin asks.

Joe Rogan has nothing but rage for this industry lying to Americans

Dave Rubin discussed Joe Rogan’s recent take on the deterioration of journalism with independent journalist Ashley Rindsberg and Newsweek’s Josh Hammer on "The Rubin Report" this week.

“The internet today allows [independent journalists] to thrive because these mainstream media corporations are so corrupt. They’re so obviously indebted to the companies that pay for their advertising,” said Rogan on his podcast.

“I don’t consider myself a journalist. … I just tell people what I think … but I suppose this has become a type of journalism because mainstream media’s ‘journalism’ has become so negligent,” Rubin said.

There is no doubt that the mainstream media has created a void in the space of journalism. People are seeking out truth themselves and are becoming less likely to trust the talking heads on their televisions. Thus, independent journalists on sites like Substack are gaining popularity.

“Is the problem with that that we end up with everyone just siphoning off to their own whatever-they-agree-with and then no one can really fact-check it?” Rubin asked.

“With these big corporate structures … you've got no idea what are the corporate incentives, the shareholders pushing for some storyline, the government getting involved. There’s so much interference at these big organizations that it totally negates all that careful oversight and structure that they’ve built,” said Rindsberg.

There is a revival of investigative journalism on sites such as Substack, where writers are finding accountability from peers rather than editors.
