Aaron Rodgers mocks Anthony Fauci: 'If science is Dr. Fauci, you're damn right I'm defying science'

NFL quarterback and Super Bowl Champion Aaron Rodgers continued his seemingly never ending troll of big pharma by mocking Dr. Anthony Fauci as a representative of science.

Fauci, former director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases and member of the White House Coronavirus Task Force, was on the receiving end of Rodgers' latest jab at establishment figures.

Speaking on "The Pat McAfee Show," where Rodgers now routinely provides his most news-worthy quotes, host Pat McAfee declared that Rodgers "defies science" by returning so quickly from an recent achilles injury.

"That’s what they’re saying about you," McAfee said. "[Commentator] Shannon Sharpe said this morning—" the host continued, until Rodgers interrupted.

"It's like we learned, if science is Dr. Fauci, you’re damn right I’m defying science," the quarterback decried.

"That's on me!" McAfee replied through laughter.

"You set yourself up for that one!" Rodgers responded.

"Fauci's just sitting at home, reminiscing about his terrible opening pitch," McAfee then added.

"If science is Dr. Fauci, you're damn right I'm defying science."

Rodgers was referring to 2021 statements by Fauci when he infamously claimed that any attacks on science were actually attacks on himself:

"I represent science," the government doctor said on CBS.

"It’s very dangerous, Chuck, because a lot of what you’re seeing as attacks on me quite frankly are attacks on science, because all of the things that I have spoken about consistently from the very beginning, have been fundamentally based on science,” Fauci also told host Chuck Todd on MSNBC.

Fauci claimed at the time that while Republicans' goal was to attack mainstream science and that they attached his name to their statements to put a recognizable face on their target. As such, they were attacking him, a person who represents the government's position on science, which he believed was the correct position.

Rogers also recently referred to fellow NFL player Travis Kelce as "Mr. Pfizer" after Kelce appeared in a 2023 Pfizer commercial. The ad endorsed the idea of getting both a flu vaccine and a COVID-19 vaccine at the same time.

The New York Jets star later challenged Kelce to a debate on vaccines where Rodgers would be paired with Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and Kelce would be backed by Dr. Fauci. Kelce responded by referring to Rodgers as being part of the "Johnson & Johnson family," as the New York Jets are owned by an heir of the Johnson & Johnson company, Woody Johnson.

In early September 2023, Rodgers mocked vaccine producer Moderna while attending the U.S. Open tennis tournament in New York. Rodgers was supporting tennis star Novak Djokovic, who is famously unvaccinated.

MLB broadcasters are openly trashing the Baltimore Orioles' ownership for removing an announcer after he read stats about the team's losses

Baltimore Orioles announcer Kevin Brown was allegedly suspended after he read statistics about the team that showed their poor performance against another club in the past, prompting a seemingly unending stream of criticism from other announcers.

Brown, the primary Orioles play-by-play commentator for Mid-Atlantic Sports Network, was reportedly suspended indefinitely after his comments before the July 23, 2023, game against the Tampa Bay Rays, the New York Post reported.

“The Orioles split a two-gamer with the Rays in June. They had lost their last 15 series here at Tropicana Field. … Already got 3 and 2 at the Trop this year after winning 3 of 18 the previous three years combined," Brown said on air. Apparently, that was too far.

The announcer was downgraded to the radio broadcast for the Orioles' series against the Philadelphia Phillies and has been absent from television for eight games, save for two nationally televised matchups.

"We don’t comment on personnel matters," a senior team official reportedly told Awful Announcing. “We look forward to hearing Kevin’s voice soon,” they added.

Since the debacle, on-air announcers have openly bashed the Orioles' executives, both during games and on radio shows.

“If you’re going to be so thin-skinned to suspend Kevin Brown, then you have to suspend the entire Orioles [broadcast] truck,” Yankees broadcaster Michael Kay said on his radio show.

Legendary broadcaster Chris “Mad Dog” Russo called the Baltimore owner "a disgrace" and an “idiot" who’s "never won a damn thing."

After reading some statistics about the Orioles during a game against the New York Yankees, Chicago White Sox announcer Jason Benetti said, "I hope I don't get suspended by the Orioles for saying that."

A New York Mets broadcaster said the Baltimore organization "draped itself in utter humiliation with their treatment of one of their young broadcasters" during a game against the Chicago Cubs.

Moreover, the situation in Baltimore is reportedly getting even worse before it gets better.

The Athletic cited "multiple sources briefed on the decision" who said ownership has enacted a policy "mandating that their broadcasters wear only team gear when on air."

“Broadcasters have also been reprimanded previously for mentioning past Orioles players who are no longer with the team.”

Orioles brass reportedly told the Baltimore Banner, “We don’t comment on employment decisions, however, Kevin Brown will be back with us in the near future."

'Idiots,' 'fools,' 'jacka**es': Charles Barkley and Shaq slam pundits for defending NBA player Ja Morant's second suspension for brandishing gun

'Idiots,' 'fools,' 'jacka**es': Charles Barkley and Shaq slam pundits for defending NBA player Ja Morant's second suspension for brandishing gun

Hosts from "Inside the NBA" lambasted commentators who came to the defense of Ja Morant, an NBA player who was seen in a video online brandishing a firearm just two months after being suspended for the same behavior.

Morant was recently suspended eight games without pay after being shown with a firearm in a club during an Instagram live video at around 5 a.m. on March 4, 2023.

Then, Morant again appeared in a video with a pistol, which resulted in a suspension from all activities pending a full investigation.

NBA legends Charles Barkley and Shaquille O'Neal had strong words for those defending the 23-year-old's actions and delivered critiques of Morant's behavior on "Inside the NBA" on TNT.

"We got some idiots, some fools, some jackasses on television that really just piss me off," Charles Barkley began. "Talking about Ja should make a stance, he didn't break any laws, he didn't do anything wrong, he's in a state where you can carry a gun,' those guys are just freakin' idiots," he continued.

"It pisses me off when I hear guys say that," Barkley went on. "When you're making a $100 million a year to play sports, life changes. There's certain rules and regulations you have to live by. Plain and simple, you can't do certain stuff, that's the trade off," he added.

Barkley may have been referring to fellow former NBA player JJ Redick, who recently hammered critics who wanted to see Morant get a lengthy suspension.

"No law has been broken, I'm not condoning the behavior," Reddick stated. "There should be consequences, you are the face of the league ... I don't think half [of] a season is the right answer," he explained.

"In our country right now gun culture is pervasive. It's pervasive. We've got mass shooting after mass shooting and nobody's doing a damn thing about it," Redick said as he got increasingly passionate.

Redick then criticized elected officials for what he saw as a hypocrisy in gun culture:

"There's no consequence for Greg Abbott telling his constituents that they should go buy more guns. And then we have mass shooting after mass shooting in Texas. There's no consequence for an elected Tennessee official to send out a Christmas card holding AR-15's with his young family, and then there's a shooting in his own district. There's no consequences for that."

"So why are we trying to lay down the hammer on a 23-year-old who didn't break the law?! Explain that to me," he concluded.

O'Neal and Barkley however explained that they felt there are both unwritten rules and explicitly forbidden actions for NBA stars.

"First of all, you're not a thug. You're not a criminal, you're not a crook. You're a guy making $100 million a year to dribble a stupid basketball. You hit the lottery," Barkley said. "I'm a gun guy, but I don't understand why you're flashing it," he added.

"He made the choice," Shaquille O'Neal said. "He has to understand there's written laws and unwritten laws."

O'Neal stressed that Morant should have realized he has a greater responsibility to youth who have the opportunity to achieve greatness by looking up to him.

"Kids want to be like you ... you have a responsibility," Shaq added.

Barkley closed by listing other activities that NBA players mustn't partake in due to their contracts:

"You can't ski, you can't skydive, you can't ride a motorcycle," Barkley said.

Morant signed a contract worth approximately $200 million over five years in July 2022, with a base salary of $33.5 million for 2023-24.

Charles Barkley blasts former NBA star for claiming white players have advantage in league MVP award: 'This has to be one of the most stupid things I’ve ever heard'

Former NBA star Charles Barkley has now weighed in on the controversy regarding the voting process to award the league's MVP. Fellow former player Kendrick Perkins, who appears frequently as a guest analyst on ESPN, recently claimed that MVP voters, who are mostly sports writers and broadcasters, prefer white players.

On ESPN's "First Take" earlier this week, Perkins noted to hosts Stephen A. Smith and Molly Qerim and former player JJ Redick that the vast majority of MVP voters are white. Perkins then implied that their white skin color affects their voting habits.

"[W]hen it comes to MVP voting, 80 percent of the voters are white American," Perkins stated. "Twenty percent are others. I know that stat."

Redick took issue with Perkins' insinuation that the white voters were therefore racist. "[W]hat we’ve just witnessed is the problem with this show," Redick began, "where we create narratives that do not exist in reality." Redick went on to claim that Perkins was "implying that the white voters that vote on NBA are racist, that they favor white people," a claim which Perkins initially denied but then said were simply "the facts."

Charles Barkley, who won the NBA MVP award in 1993, shared his thoughts about the topic during a phone appearance on Denver's 92.5 FM Altitude Sports Radio with Vic Lombardi, Marc Moser, and Brett Kane. Never one to mince words, Barkley took Perkins to task, calling his comments "[a]sinine, silly, stupid. Pick one of the words, whatever one you want."

Barkley added, "[W]hen I heard this for the first time last week, I said this has to be one of the most stupid things I’ve ever heard."

Barkley then accused Perkins of suffering from what he called "ESPN disease," which Barkley argued encourages some analysts to make outlandish claims in order to appear "provocative." Barkley said he was glad Redick pushed back against Perkins' comments.

The Round Mound of Rebound then explained that the MVP award is given to the player with the best regular season, not the best overall player in the league. Nikola Jokic, the Serbian phenom largely expected to win the league MVP award again this year, currently averages a triple-double, and his team, the Denver Nuggets, sit comfortably atop the Western Conference.

"To slander this man (Jokic) in this situation is just total B.S.," Barkley insisted. Jokic also won the award the past two seasons.

There is some indication that Perkins might actually agree with Barkley. After his heated exchange with Redick, Perkins stated that he "appreciated" Redick for his "real talk."

"I appreciate you, brother," Perkins said to Redick. "I'm good, long as you good."

Redick then replied, "We're always good."

Qerim then closed the segment by stating that she wished the four of them could all gather in person for a group hug.
