Ayanna Pressley tweets 'I don't endorse violence' after stealth deleting tweet endorsing violence

On “The Rubin Report,” BlazeTV host Dave Rubin called out Democratic Rep. Ayanna Pressley who tweeted — then deleted — support for violent solutions after actor Will Smith slapped comedian Chris Rock for making an offensive joke at the Oscars.

Pressley tweeted and then promptly deleted support for Smith's violent reaction to Rock's about his wife Jada Pinkett Smith’s alopecia areata.

""#Alopecia nation stand up! Thank you #WillSmith,” Pressley, who also has alopecia, tweeted. “Shout out to all the husbands who defend their wives living with alopecia in the face of daily ignorance & insults ... Women with baldies are for real men only only. boys need not apply."

After deleting her initial tweet, Pressley changed her tune and posted a new tweet saying she does not "endorse violence in any form."

My life's work has always been about trauma & healing.

I’m a survivor - I don’t endorse violence in any form.
— Ayanna Pressley (@Ayanna Pressley) 1648481554

Dave shared his own experience with alopecia but emphasized that the leftist message "violence is okay when you're offended" is anything but okay.

"You're allowed to joke about people, and then people are allowed to make fun of you. They're allowed to not associate with you. They're allowed to mock you ... they're not allowed to physically assault you," Dave said. "This is what laws are. We have freedom of speech and if someone says something mean to you, you can ignore them or you can say something mean to them, but you can't attack them."

AOC pleads with Biden to cancel more student debt ahead of the 2022 midterm elections

U.S. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) urged President Joe Biden to pursue student loan debt cancelation. She told the New Yorker that she believes that student debt forgives is crucial if the Democrats are to have “any chance” in the 2022 midterm elections, Newsweek reported.

AOC told the New Yorker that the Biden administration’s “hesitancy” on the issue of the growing student debt crisis has a demoralizing effect on a voting bloc that Democrats across the country rely upon, Newsweek said.

She told the outlet, “I can’t underscore how much the hesitance of the Biden administration to pursue student-loan cancellation has demoralized a very critical voting block that the President, the House, and the Senate need in order to have any chance at preserving our majority.”

The congresswoman suggested that Biden had “a reluctance to use executive power” and that he “has not been using his executive power to the extent that some would say is necessary.”

She said, “One of the single most impactful things President Biden can do is pursue student-loan cancellation. It is entirely within his power.”

“This really isn’t a conversation about providing relief to a small, niche group of people,” AOC continued. "It’s very much a keystone action politically. I think it’s a keystone action economically as well.”

Some of AOC’s congressional colleagues in the U.S. Senate, like Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) and Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.), have also urged the president to cancel up to $50,000 in student loan debt through an executive order.

This past December, Rep. Ayanna Pressley (D-Mass.), AOC’s colleague in the far-left “Squad,” referred to existing student debt policy as “violence.”

Let’s make it plain: student debt is policy violence.

We’ll keep fighting to relieve families across the country, to make sure our policies & budgets reflect their lived experiences & that we build this grassroots movement to #CancelStudentDebt together

While on the 2020 campaign trail, then-candidate Biden promised to cancel at least five figures of student debt per borrower.

In April of 2020, Biden called for “an immediate cancelation of a minimum of $10,000 per person” in “immediate relief.” In the same address, Biden pledged that his “next step in building on the progressive vision for the country” was “forgiving student debt for low-income and middle class people who have attended public colleges and universities.”

A few months later, he reaffirmed this commitment.

Additionally, we should forgive a minimum of $10,000/person of federal student loans, as proposed by Senator Warren and colleagues. Young people and other student debt holders bore the brunt of the last crisis. It shouldn't happen again.
— Joe Biden (@Joe Biden) 1584919716

After assuming office, Business Insider reported that Biden said he was “prepared to write off the $10,000 debt but not $50 [thousand], because I don’t think I have the authority to do it.”

In December, the Biden administration announced that the COVID-19 era pause on federal student loan payments would end, and debtors would be expected to once again make monthly payments.

This announcement disappointed many of the President’s progressive allies.

638,000 people have received student loan forgiveness under the Biden Administration & their lives have improved!

But let me get this straight: for the other 98.6% of borrowers, payments are turning on next month w/o any forgiveness at all? Not even the $10k?

This will be bad.

AOC’s concerns about losing the Democratic majority in Congress may be warranted. After all, Republicans are currently positioned to make massive gains in the House of Representatives and have a 73% chance of winning a majority in the Senate in the 2022 midterm elections.

'This is why words have lost all meaning': Democratic Rep. Ayanna Pressley claims 'student debt is policy violence'

Democratic Rep. Ayanna Pressley of Massachusetts thinks that "student debt is policy violence" and that President Joe Biden should cancel people's student debt.

"Let’s make it plain: student debt is policy violence. We’ll keep fighting to relieve families across the country, to make sure our policies & budgets reflect their lived experiences & that we build this grassroots movement to #CancelStudentDebt together," Pressley tweeted.

In another tweet, she said that "the student debt crisis is multiracial & multigenerational" and "a racial, gender & economic justice issue." She declared that the president "can & must #CancelStudentDebt."

Many on Twitter pushed back against the congresswoman's use of the word "violence" and noted that people who voluntarily assume massive sums of have a bear responsibility to pay it back.

"Let’s make it plain: Step 1: borrow money if you choose; Step 2: Pay it back," GOP Rep. Chip Roy of Texas tweeted.

"Not everything is “violence.” Pay the bills you agreed to pay. If you’re mad at the cost of college, have a word with your Democrat colleagues who voted to nationalize loans which drove up cost," conservative radio host Dana Loesch tweeted.

"This is why words have lost all meaning," Virginia Kruta tweeted.

"Some people really need to learn the definition of the word “violence." Holding people responsible for their own debts is not violence," Daily Wire senior editor Ashe Short tweeted.

National Review Online senior writer Dan McLaughlin responded to the congresswoman's comment by tweeting:

Things that are violence:

-Allowing people to borrow money to go to college.

Things that are not violence:

-Dismembering children in the womb
-Riots
-Abandoning poor people to the mercy of street criminals
-Surrendering Afghanistan to the Taliban

In a tweet earlier this year Pressley claimed that evictions represent "policy violence."

Rep. Ayanna Pressley says Republicans engaged in 'chemical warfare' by not wearing masks

Rep. Ayanna Pressley (D-Mass.) attacked GOP members of Congress who did not wear face masks during the Capitol riots. Pressley went so far as to say Republicans committed "chemical warfare" by not wearing face masks.

"It's criminal behavior," Pressley told CNN's Don Lemon on Thursday. "I don't know what else to call it."

"They have been complicit from the very beginning in their willful criminality to carry the water for Donald Trump and these science denials which allowed this pandemic to rage out of control," she said of Republican lawmakers.

"And then by refusing to wear the masks, this is criminal behavior," the Democrat alleged. "That's chemical warfare so far as I'm concerned."

Purposely spreading the coronavirus would technically be considered "biological warfare" and not "chemical warfare."

"When they took us to the 'safe room,' and I walked in and saw that there was this contingent of anti-maskers in the room gathered, I immediately exited," Pressley claimed. "So imagine in that moment the choice that I was making. And we were told as we left that space, 'You'll be on your own in an evacuation.' And I said, 'I'll take my chances.'"

Pressley then denounced her Republican colleagues who were not wearing face masks during the Capitol riots.

"So in the midst of this terrorizing event, which inflicted great trauma, injury, and loss of life, where you would think even in that moment that they would attempt to extend some grace, some collegiality, or just to be decent human beings, they chose to recklessly endanger the members in that room, my spouse, my staff, and that of everyone else who was in proximity of them," she ranted.

On Tuesday, Pressley took to Twitter to condemn Republican lawmakers.

"The second I realized our 'safe room' from the violent white supremacist mob included treasonous, white supremacist, anti masker Members of Congress who incited the mob in the first place, I exited," she tweeted. "Furious that more of my colleagues by the day are testing positive."

According to Fox News, the maskless GOP politicians include Reps. Marjorie Taylor Greene (Ga.), Markwayne Mullin (Okla.), Andy Biggs (Ariz.), Scott Perry (Pa.), Michael Cloud (Texas), and Doug LaMalfa (Calif.).

Pressley announced Wednesday that her husband, Conan Harris, tested positive for COVID-19. Harris was with Pressley in the Capitol when the riot broke out Jan. 6 in Washington, D.C.

Harris, who is in isolation, has experienced mild symptoms, and it is was unclear how he contracted COVID-19, Boston.com reported. Pressley has tested negative for coronavirus, but is isolating along with her staff members.

Pressley also said she was proud to co-sponsor the resolution by Rep. Cori Bush (D-Mo.) that calls for the expulsion of GOP House members who supported contesting the 2020 presidential election results in battleground states during the Electoral College certification, adding that these Republican lawmakers are "unfit to serve."

Pressley has been in the news recently after her comments calling for "unrest in the streets" from the summer have resurfaced online.

"There needs to be unrest in the streets for as long as there's unrest in our lives and unfortunately there's plenty to go around." Pressley told "AM Joy" guest host Tiffany Cross in August.

The 'Squad' claps back at Obama after he criticizes 'Defund the Police' slogan

The "Squad" is not happy with former President Barack Obama.

After Obama noted in an interview that slogans like "defund the police" don't exactly help Democrats appeal to most Americans, members of the progressive congressional "Squad," including Reps. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) and Ayanna Pressley (D-Mass.), criticized the former president.

"We lose people in the hands of police. It's not a slogan but a policy demand," Omar tweeted in response to Obama. "And centering the demand for equitable investments and budgets for communities across the country gets us progress and safety."

During the interview, which was released on Wednesday, Obama responded to a question asking for his advice to young progressive activists who have popularized the controversial slogan.

"If you believe, as I do, that we should be able to reform the criminal justice system so that it's not biased and treats everybody fairly, I guess you can use a snappy slogan, like Defund the Police, but, you know, you lost a big audience the minute you say it, which makes it a lot less likely that you're actually going to get the changes you want done," Obama said.

"Defund the Police" was a slogan adopted by the activist left calling for a redistribution of government funding away from law enforcement and toward other social services. It is a literal call to decrease police funding.

Obama's criticism of the slogan was not well received by the activist left.

"With all due respect, Mr. President—let's talk about losing people. We lost Michael Brown Jr. We lost Breonna Taylor. We're losing our loved ones to police violence," said Congresswoman-elect Cori Bush, a Black Lives Matter activist who won a House seat in Missouri's 1st Congressional District in November. "It's not a slogan. It's a mandate for keeping our people alive. Defund the police."

Democrats are still reeling from a crushing performance in the 2020 congressional elections in which their majority in the House of Representatives shrunk and they failed to win several races that pollsters and pundits predicted would be easy pick ups. On a conference call that took place shortly after Election Day, several congressional Democrats, including party leaders like House Majority Whip Jim Clyburn (D-S.C.), warned that running on pro-socialism platforms or advocating for policies like defending the police would prevent Democrats from winning in the future.

Far-left members of the Democratic conference insist, however, that the party underperformed in the election because they did not unify around those messages. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) in particular has chastised party leadership for running to the center. After Obama's comments were published, Ocasio-Cortez defended far-left activists who are making people "uncomfortable."
