Gay bar halts Palestinian burlesque dancer's show over her sign 'targeting' Jews — then apologizes after drag backlash

A Philadelphia gay bar banned a Palestinian burlesque dancer from taking the stage because of her sign "targeting" Jews — but following fierce drag community backlash, the bar apologized.

What are the details?

A Dec. 8 show at Tabu Lounge and Sports Bar in the city's so-called Gayborhood advertised Palestinian burlesque dancer Leila Delicious as one of the featured acts, but the bar stopped her performance, which would have used a sign that read, "OUR GENERATION WILL FREE PALESTINE," PhillyVoice reported.

An X post from performer Mew Ikki indicated Tabu had told Delicious that the bar didn't want political commentary or performances about the Israel-Hamas war, the outlet said.

The next day Tabu released a now-deleted statement on social media saying the bar "strongly condemns all forms of hate speech, including the recent display of a sign promoting genocide against Jews," PhillyVoice said, adding that the bar said an image of Delicious' sign making the rounds lacked "full context" since it showed only showed one side — and that the other side "contains text targeting the Jewish community."

The text on the other side of the sign read, "BIDEN, DEMAND A CEASEFIRE / IF YOU SUPPORT GENOCIDE, You ISREAL DUMB!"

What happened next?

PhillyVoice said many in the city's drag and burlesque community blasted Tabu on social media, challenged the bar's claim that the other side of the sign was anti-Semitic, and rose up in solidarity with Delicious, saying they wouldn't perform at Tabu or attend shows there.

With that, Tabu deleted its original statement condemning Delicious and posted a longer statement Sunday afternoon, the outlet reported: "While our initial decision to prevent a performer from addressing the Israel-Palestine conflict was made with the intention of fostering a positive environment, we now recognize that it had unintended consequences."

The statement from the bar — which PhillyVoice said didn't immediately respond to requests for comment — added that the original move was meant to ensure "emotional safety" for everyone in the venue and that Tabu "may have misinterpreted the intention" of the sign, which did not promote genocide against Jewish people.

The statement also included an apology to Delicious, who was not directly named in the text, and added that Tabu management will reach out to her for an "open conversation," the outlet noted.

Not enough, apparently

In a follow-up story, PhillyVoice said nearly 70 performers and producers signed a letter expressing solidarity with Delicious and demanding more action from Tabu's ownership.

The outlet said attorney Amer Zahr, who's also president of New Generation for Palestine, shared the letter with PhillyVoice, adding that the letter says Tabu's statement placed Delicious "at considerable physical risk," citing recent anti-Palestinian hate crimes, and lists two demands: a commitment to "freedom of expression and speech" with concrete guidelines on what is allowed and an apology to Delicious that retracts the accusation of "promoting genocide."

“I am simply calling for justice, dignity, and respect. I never thought that calling for an end to genocide would end up in an accusation of genocide against me," Delicious said in a statement included in Zahr's email, the outlet added. "Sadly, the environment we are in seeks to silence Palestinian voices. As a Palestinian, I refuse to be silent."

PhillyVoice said the letter's signees indicated they won't perform or work at Tabu until management meets the letter's demands.

Former MLB broadcaster claims he was BLACKLISTED for being a 'white, male Republican'

Being a white, male conservative today is equivalent to putting a giant “kick me” sign on your back, or at least that’s been Ryan Spaeder’s experience.

Spaeder has a long list of career achievements. Perhaps most notable are his contributions to Major League Baseball, specifically as a broadcaster and as a writer.

However, despite his dedication to the sport, he claims he’s “been blackballed by Major League Baseball” due to his gender, race, and political views.

“I am not welcome any more,” he tells Stu Burguiere.

Despite his ousting, Spaeder refuses to conform for the sake of acceptance.

“I’m not going to bend the knee; it’s not me,” he says.

But his courage has not been without cost.

“I have 62,000 followers, [but] it's probably cost me double that. It’s cost me jobs. I got fired by the Athletic before I even started there,” he says.

“Because of your political views?” Stu asks.

“That’s my perception,” says Spaeder, but “of course, they said, ‘it's because we overestimated our need for help,’ but then they went and hired somebody else.”

Major League Baseball “is a foundational part of American culture. They should be accepting of people on the right [and] people on the left. … Politics shouldn't invade baseball, but we've turned that completely upside down, I think to the sport's detriment and certainly to the country’s detriment,” says Stu.

Kirk Cameron's book publisher says two public libraries 'caved,' will let Christian actor read his faith-based, non-woke children's book to kids

Kirk Cameron's book publisher said two public libraries "caved" and will let him read his faith-based, non-woke children's book to kids after initially saying no to the actor and outspoken Christian.

Cameron told Fox News Digital he "won" after challenging the libraries' denials and threatening to "assert" his "rights in court." The publisher of Brave Books added "they caved," the cable network reported.

What's the background?

Over 50 public libraries across the U.S. either rejected Cameron's requests for a story-hour program for children or did not respond to his publisher's inquiries, Fox News said, citing Brave Books.

Cameron — past star of the iconic TV sitcom "Growing Pains" — is the author of the new book, "As You Grow," the cable network said, an illustrated children's book focusing on biblical values.

Fox News said the two public libraries now communicating with Brave Books about Cameron's story hour program for kids — Indianapolis Public Library and Scarsdale (New York) Public Library — both held drag queen story hours in June.

Cameron will be at the Indianapolis library on Dec. 29 and at the Scarsdale library on Dec. 30, the cable network said.

"I'm happy that the two libraries changed their decision and will allow my voice to be heard and my book to be read," Cameron told Fox News Digital, adding, "I hope they realized that their position of denying me a story hour reading was not only unfair and illegal, but that we would all be better off if we listened to each other's perspectives."

Cameron also told the cable network: "I hope that this victory acts as a source of courage for Christians and conservatives across the country to be brave and not back down, making sure that we are the salt of the earth and the light of the darkness."

Trent Talbot, CEO of Brave Books, told Fox News Digital: "I love situations in which we have two ways to win and zero ways to lose. We forced these bullies to either take off their masks and show their true colors of unabashed anti-Christian and anti-American bias (as well as catch themselves in a spicy lawsuit) OR the bullies were going to realize that Kirk and Brave were here to fight ..."

'Not interested'

Initially the Indianapolis library employee who spoke to Brave Books about Cameron's reading said, "We are really looking at authors who are diverse. Authors of color. That’s really been our focus," the cable network reported.

But when Brave Books countered that Cameron's book also adds to diversity of ideas and beliefs, the library representative replied, "Well, we are focusing on racial equity," Fox News said.

The cable network said the Scarsdale library initially told Cameron and his representatives, "Thank you for thinking of us, but we are not interested in this program."

Fox News Digital said it reached out to both libraries for comment. Elizabeth Bermel — director of the Scarsdale Public Library — replied Sunday night via email: "It is incorrect to state that the library has changed its position. The publisher and Mr. Cameron were never denied the opportunity to book a room. Rather, they never previously requested to book the library’s meeting room."

Bermel added to the cable network that "the library first received an inquiry on December 13th (and an application on December 16th) from the publisher to book the meeting room for December 30th."

The cable network, referencing an attached statement, noted that the library got a message Dec. 2 via its website about a request to "schedule a story hour at the Scarsdale Public Library for a book by actor Kirk Cameron."

Fox News said the library indicated it sent Cameron's representatives a link and that they responded a few days later: "We would love to schedule a story hour for Mr. Cameron's book where we read ‘As You Grow’ and speak to families about following the wisdom of the Bible, as well as discussing the harmful effects of woke ideologies, specifically CRT and the transgender agenda."

The library said it replied, "Thank you for thinking of us, but we are not interested in this program," the cable network said.

Here's Tucker Carlson interviewing Cameron after the controversy commenced:

Mother chases, allegedly curses at and threatens to slap 12-year-old football player who tackled her son during youth game

A mother chased and allegedly threatened to slap a 12-year-old youth football player who tackled her son during a recent game, KTRK-TV reported.

Video caught the moment the incident occurred during the first game of the season earlier this month between the Southside Ravens and the Northwest Gorillas of the Youth Football and Cheerleading Federation in Houston, the station said.

What are the details?

The clip shows the 12-year-old player in a green jersey and yellow helmet making a tackle near the sideline, then getting up and pointing back toward where he made the tackle.

The mother in question then runs on the field and chases the 12-year-old tackler, who in turn runs from her with his hands in the air.

Here are some looks at cellphone video of what went down:

Witnesses said the woman was upset the 12-year-old tackled her child, KTRK reported, adding that the game was cut short because of the incident.

'Ridiculous'

While the woman never touched the 12-year-old player, the station said the victim's mother filed a police report.

"This is ridiculous," the victim's mother told KTRK during an on-camera interview. "How could you get that angry at a kids' game? Your son plays football; they tackle each other. That's just the name of the game. How could you get that upset to chase him — and not only chase him but curse him while you're chasing him?"

The youth league said the parent in question was a substantial threat and violated multiple conduct policies, KTRK reported.

League president Edward Hart sent the following statement to the station:

This was an incident that could have ended much worse than it did. A parent running onto the game field after an opposing team player can have a counter-effect of the child's parent(s) responding in kind in defense of their own child, not to mention potential reactions of the staff members of both teams. Fortunately, the staff of both teams were able to get things under control and did not allow the incident to escalate. An assigned on-site police officer further de-escalated things by escorting the offending party out of the facility. This particular facility does not afford itself to our standard access control policies since it is basically an open field with multiple entry points, and has no barriers between spectators and the game field."

Hart added to KTRK that the woman who chased the player has been permanently banned from all league events and activities — and the rest of her family and children have been similarly banned.

What's more, the woman was fined $200, and her son's former team — the Northwest Gorillas — was fined $500, accused of not controlling the sideline, the station said.

The mother of the chased player told KTRK no one has personally apologized to her or her family but added that she's glad the league took action to keep the children safe.

The station said it wasn't able to speak to the woman who chased the player, but KTRK added that her son's team, the Northwest Gorillas, issued an apology on social media, which also noted in part that "our parents felt their children were not safe due to the level of aggression displayed by players and opposing parents" and "despite the behavior that was displayed by the opponent team, there was no reason that it escalated to that degree or manner. We are sincerely regretful on how this has affected everyone in and outside of our organization."

WTF! Biden is making you pay for WORTHLESS college degrees
