South Korea's new president says he will no longer appease Kim Jong Un, says recent attempts at peace with North Korea were a 'proven failure'

South Korea’s days of appeasing its neighbor to the north are over, as South Korea’s new president, Yoon Suk Yeol, said that any new talks between the two countries must be initiated by Kim Jong Un.

Yoon said, “I think the ball is in Chairman Kim’s court – it is his choice to start a dialogue with us.”

The North Korean government has recently resumed testing missiles, testing more so far in 2022 than in the past two years combined. CNN reported that Kim also recently vowed to “strengthen and develop” his country’s nuclear forces at the “highest possible” speed.

Nevertheless, Yoon said that South Korea and its allies are ready to stand against any acts of North Korean provocation.

Yoon lambasted his predecessor’s conciliatory approach to diplomacy with North Korea.

He said, “Just to escape temporarily North Korean provocation or conflict is not something that we should do. This kind of approach over the past five years has proven to be a failure.”

Yoon is a former prosecutor and a newcomer to politics. He consistently has emphasized the need for taking a stronger stance toward North Korea and expressed an ardent desire to strengthen the South’s military. Both of these approaches mark a significant departure from Yoon’s predecessor, Moon Jae-in, who routinely promoted amicable dialogue with the North and advocated for a peaceful reconciliation between the two Koreas.

Despite what some may interpret as blatant hostility toward North Korea, Yoon said that he didn’t want North Korea to “collapse” but that he also did not think the South’s communist neighbor should be emboldened to continue the development of its nuclear arsenal.

He said, “What I want is shared and common prosperity on the Korean Peninsula. I do not believe that enhancing [North Korea’s] nuclear capability is helpful and conducive to maintaining international peace.”

Throughout his campaign for the South Korean presidency, Yoon emphasized the importance of South Korea’s close security alliance with the U.S.

After Yoon’s recent meeting with U.S. President Joe Biden, the two leaders announced in a joint statement that they would begin discussions on restarting and potentially expanding joint military drills. This move is expected to anger North Korean leadership, as Kim Jong Un is expected to perceive the renewed exercises as a direct threat to his nation’s sovereignty

Despite Yoon’s hesitance to engage in dialogue with his North Korean counterparts, Biden insisted that he would meet with Kim if he was “sincere and whether he was serious.”

NBC News report says a second Hunter Biden laptop was seized during a DEA raid of former TV doctor's office

An NBC News report claimed Friday that a second laptop owned by Hunter Biden had been seized by the Drug Enforcement Administration in a raid of the offices of a former celebrity psychologist.

The laptop was recovered by the DEA in February when they served a search warrant at the Newburyport, Massachusetts, office of Keith Ablow, the former celebrity psychiatrist. Ablow was not charged with any crime but his medical license was suspended by the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Medicine over charges of inappropriate sexual activity with patients. He denied the claims.

The NBC report said that Biden was not the target of the search, and that the laptop was returned to his lawyer. It was not clear why the laptop was at Ablow's office.

The revelation comes amidst much rumor and speculation about a laptop reportedly owned by Hunter Biden that was left at a Delaware computer shop and ended up in the possession of former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani, the personal attorney of President Donald Trump.

The New York Post's report about that laptop and its contents were suppressed by Facebook and Twitter based on the personal information that were published and the controversial nature of the reporting. Both platforms were then accused of politically motivated censorship by allies and supporters of the president.

On Friday, Twitter relented and allowed the New York Post to resume control of its Twitter account.

In an interview with ABC News in 2019, Hunter Biden said that he would be joining his father on the campaign trail as long as he didn't become a political burden to his campaign. He has not joined his father on the campaign trail.

Tucker Carlson says UPS has delivered the Biden family documents, but they refuse to answer why they went missing

Tucker Carlson continued the saga of the Biden family documents by explaining that UPS had not done enough to answer his questions about how the documents were separated from their packaging and lost briefly.

Carlson told his audience about the newest developments in a short segment on his Fox News show on Thursday evening.

"UPS is a reliable company, they rarely lose anything, we agree with that. That's why we use them in the first place," said Carlson.

"And yet they lost our Biden documents. How? UPS won't tell us how. We spent a lot of the day talking to executives there, they claimed that the flash drive was found on Monday night by an hourly employee at the UPS building on 43rd street in Manhattan. They suggested it might have been sitting on the floor there," he continued.

"They couldn't prove that, because, remarkably, in a room where millions of high value packages are handled, there are no security cameras. That's what they told us. UPS says the employee who found our flash drive simply dropped it on top of the supervisor's desk. Our document sat there, undiscovered, for more than 24 hours until we announced on television that they were missing," Carlson said.

"That's their story," he added. "Obviously we had some questions about it, but UPS executives did not answer our questions."

He then read a statement from UPS about the flash drive.

"There are no more details. Security is returning it. Apologies again that we were unable to deliver it next day at the service level you requested," read the statement.

Carlson said their exchanges went back and forth for hours and they did not get an answer to their main question which is how the documents were separated from the envelope.

"Someone, for some reason, opened our package, and removed a flash drive containing documents that were damaging to the Biden family," he added. "We'd love to know who would do that, and why. It would be helpful to see the envelope itself, but UPS says we can't see it because they threw it away."

Carlson said they were now in possession of the flash drive, but he did not relate the contents or give any details about how they were damaging to the Biden family.

He went on to say that he had received other documents from other sources that he would not release about Hunter Biden and his personal life because it was improper to do so.
