Condemnation erupts after Biden effigy clothed with 'Let's Go Brandon' T-shirt gets kicked, swatted at Republican fundraiser

Condemnation is raining down after attendees at a Kansas Republican fundraiser were caught on video last week kicking and swatting an effigy of President Joe Biden, the Associated Press reported.

Their target was a mannequin adorned with a Biden mask as well as a "Let's Go Brandon" T-shirt, the outlet said.

"I think it plays into this idea that this goes beyond just a policy debate, and I think that can be combined with some of [the] language we see used and the demonization on the other side," Matt Harris, a political science professor at Park University, told KMBC-TV. "I think that kind of rhetoric combined with this kind of symbolic behavior can be dangerous."

Mike Kuckelman, former chair of the Kansas Republican Party, is calling for the resignations of both the state and county party chairs, the station said.

"As a lifelong Republican, I was appalled, I was sickened, I was disgusted with it that it could happen," Kuckelman told KMBC. "We can disagree with one another on policy, but we're all fellow human beings, we never resort to violence in our country because we disagree with one another."

The Kansas Republican Party issued the following statement Monday, the station said:

The Johnson County Republican Party hosted a fundraiser on Friday, March 8th. After the event took place, it was brought to the attention of the KSGOP that an outside exhibitor in the karate/self-defense space rented a booth at the event. A disgruntled former member of the state party, who did not attend the event, saw an opportunity to capitalize on the poor judgement of the outside exhibitor. No one from KSGOP leadership or staff attended the event or had input on exhibitors.
It’s unfortunate the events took place, and even more so the former state party member created a false narrative in order to spew rhetoric and capitalize on continued attempts to divide the party.

The Johnson County Republican Party issued the following statement, according to KMBC:

The Johnson County Republican Party’s successful series of events last weekend was tarnished by a brief incident where a mask depicting President Biden was added to an outside exhibitor interactive self-defense display. The mask was regrettable and removed. No one collected or solicited any funds or donations in exchange for hitting the training device.

Kansas House Speaker Dan Hawkins, a Wichita Republican, said, “What may seem like a joke for many will be seen by some as an expansion of acceptable behavior with potentially tragic consequences,” according to the AP.

Kansas Senate President Ty Masterson, also a Republican from the Wichita area, said that “tasteless displays of violence” don't attract voters, the outlet added.

The AP also reported that Mike Brown, chair of the Kansas GOP, and Maria Holiday, leader of the Johnson County GOP, "distanced themselves" from the incident. The outlet added that Johnson Country has "become bluer since [Donald] Trump's election as president in 2016. It was key to Democratic Gov. Laura Kelly's victories in 2018 and 2022 and became an area where it was increasingly difficult for GOP statewide candidates to win."

Video captures the moment Biden proudly reveals the REAL reason for wearing masks

President Joe Biden kicked off his trip to Asia with a virtue-signaling stunt-gone-viral as he arrived in South Korea. As he exited Air Force One, the president marched proudly down the stairs with a mask on — the outdoor stairs, with no one nearby — and then whipped the mask off to shake hands and chat closely with a group of roughly a dozen people.

A video shared by the Post Millennial has racked up more than 2 million views on Twitter, with many commenters jumping to the president's defense by pointing out that he was following "the science" that says we should all wear masks on airplanes to stay "safe." Thinking people, however, noted how quickly our commander in chief forgot what masks are actually supposed to do — unless, of course, their only purpose is to virtue-signal.

President Biden caught on video flagrantly violating mask mandate. Again.

President Joe Biden was caught not wearing a mask while shopping at a Massachusetts store that explicitly required face coverings to be worn inside. This is not the first time that the Democratic president was spotted violating an indoor mask mandate.

President Biden was shopping inside Murray's Toggery Shop in Nantucket on Saturday. Video shows Biden inside the crowded upscale clothing store with his face mask around his neck. The angle of the video perfectly juxtaposes the maskless president with a large sign on the door of the store that reads: "REQUIRED FACE COVERING." It appears that everyone else in the store is wearing a mask.

Besides the can't-miss sign requiring face coverings on the front door, Murray's Toggery Shop's Google Map listing states that the store requires patrons to wear masks.

The island of Nantucket reinstituted an indoor mask mandate on Nov. 18 after there was "increased prevalence of the virus in island sewage," according to the Nantucket Magazine.

The state of Massachusetts COVID-19 guidelines states: "Fully vaccinated individuals are advised to wear a mask or face covering when indoors (and not in your own home) if you have a weakened immune system, or if you are at increased risk for severe disease because of your age or an underlying medical condition, or if someone in your household has a weakened immune system, is at increased risk for severe disease, or is an unvaccinated adult."

Joe Biden is 79-years-old.

In October, Biden was busted flouting Washington, D.C.'s mask mandate while dining at a swanky seafood restaurant.

In May, President Biden and First Lady Jill Biden ditched wearing face masks when visiting former President Jimmy Carter and former First Lady Rosalynn Carter – ages 97 and 94, respectively.

In November, Biden was seen mingling with members of the public without a mask before putting it on for a photo-op.

In June 2020, Biden told KDKA that masks "make a gigantic difference."

"The one thing we do know is these masks make a gigantic difference," Biden said. "I would insist that everybody out in public be wearing that mask. Anyone to reopen would have to make sure that they walked into a business that had masks."

At the time, the then-candidate Biden said, "I would do everything possible to make it required that people had to wear masks in public."

Dianne Feinstein, and Los Angeles County supervisor Sheila Kuehl.

President Joe Biden was caught on video not wearing a mask while walking inside of a swanky restaurant in Washington, D.C. – violating the city's face mask mandate.

The president and first lady dined at the Michelin-starred Fiola Mare restaurant on Saturday night. The extravagant restaurant's cuisine is "inspired by Italy's coastlines and the bounty of its most pristine seafood." The restaurant sells an ounce of Royal Oscietra caviar for $250.

There has been a mask mandate in effect in Washington, D.C. since July 31.

This guidance presents recommendations that the general public should follow for wearing face masks (or cloth face coverings) to help prevent the spread of COVID-19, and it also provides the rules that must be followed for masking indoors, even for fully vaccinated persons.

This includes any business or establishment open to members of the public (including but not limited to: grocery stores, restaurants and bars (when not eating or drinking), places of worship, gyms, office buildings, libraries, indoor entertainment venues.

The Fiola Mare restaurant states on its website that masks are required.

Per CDC guidance and DC Mayor Muriel Bowser's executive order, all individuals over age 2 are required to wear a mask indoors, regardless of vaccination status. Masks must be always worn while in our restaurants, except while eating and drinking. Thank you for understanding.

The same day that the city's mask mandate went into effect, Washington Mayor Muriel Bowser (D) broke her own mask rule to officiate a wedding at a four-star hotel in the city.

Kamala Harris and husband Doug Emhoff kiss with masks on despite being vaccinated and outside. It's just the latest confusing mask gesture by the Biden admin.

At times, the Biden administration has presented confusing and contradictory mask-wearing habits, which has sparked questions about President Joe Biden's COVID-19 vaccine messaging and recent CDC guidelines. In the latest inconsistent mask gesture, Vice President Kamala Harris determined that she needed a face mask to kiss her own husband while outside after they had both been vaccinated for coronavirus.

Harris and husband Doug Emhoff traveled to Joint Base Andrews, where she was taking a plane to Providence, Rhode Island, and he was flying to Allentown, Pennsylvania. Before Harris departed, the fully vaccinated couple kept their face masks on when they gave each other a goodbye kiss while outside on the tarmac.

Harris and U.S. second gentleman Doug Emhoff both received a second round of the Moderna coronavirus vaccine on Jan. 26.

Kamala really did just kiss her husband with a mask on 🥴🥴 https://t.co/YvP1FcKMmO

— Sara Gonzales (@SaraGonzalesTX) 1620236107.0

The masked kiss occurred a week after the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention issued new guidelines on mask-wearing outside: "Fully vaccinated people no longer need to wear a mask outdoors, except in certain crowded settings and venues."

CDC Director Dr. Rochelle Walensky said, "If you are fully vaccinated and want to attend a small outdoor gathering with people who are vaccinated and unvaccinated, or dine at an outdoor restaurant with friends from multiple households, the science shows if you are vaccinated, you can do so safely unmasked."

President Joe Biden bucked the COVID-19 recommendations by the health agency. Biden said last week that wearing a mask, including people who are vaccinated and outdoors, is "a patriotic responsibility for God's sake."

Biden has presented conflicting messaging on face masks to the American people in recent weeks.

During a photo op with former President Jimmy Carter and former first lady Rosalynn Carter this week, Biden and first lady Jill Biden are both maskless while nestled close to the Carters, who are both in their 90s.

Biden told Americans to mask up for the first 100 days of his administration.

"The first day I'm inaugurated to say I'm going to ask the public for 100 days to mask," Biden proclaimed in December. "Just 100 days to mask, not forever. 100 days."

Thursday marks the 106th day of the Biden administration.

Biden tells Americans to wear face masks until 2022 just months after saying they’d only need them until April

Despite President Joe Biden declaring this week that the United States will have enough COVID-19 vaccines by the end of the summer to inoculate 300 million Americans, he told Americans that they will need to wear face masks until at least 2022.

Biden visited the National Institutes of Health complex in Bethesda, Maryland, this week. During a press conference with Dr. Anthony Fauci and NIH Director Dr. Francis Collins, Biden informed Americans that he is recommending that they wear masks for the rest of the year.

"I had a little discussion with my friends behind me, Dr. Collins and Dr. Fauci, about whether or not I should take my mask off, and the truth is, although we're more than 10 feet away, I think it's important that I not," Biden said.

"It's critically important the message — and I realize I'm speaking to a vast majority — at least, I hope I am — of the folks out here at NIH," he stated. "You know that wearing this mask through the next year here can save lives — a significant number of lives."

"We lost over 100,000 — 100,000 of our fellow citizens," Biden said. "We're on track to cross 500,000 dead Americans this next month."

"The new strains emerging create immense challenges, and masking is still the easiest thing to do to save lives," he asserted. "But we need everyone to mask up."

"I know it's a pain in the neck, but it's a patriotic responsibility," he expressed. "We're in the middle of a war with this virus. It's a patriotic responsibility — not only if you care about your family, if you care about your fellow Americans."

Biden exclaimed that the U.S. government had signed the final contracts for 100 million more Moderna and 100 million more Pfizer vaccines. He added, "That means we're now on track to have enough supply for 300 million Americans by the end of July."

Biden noted that the federal government "provided $3 billion to 37 states and territories and tribes to bolster existing vaccination centers and create more of the centers to administer — where we administer the vaccine."

In December, Biden promised Americans a much shorter mask timeline – "Just 100 days."

"On the first day I'm inaugurated, I'm going to ask the public for 100 days to mask," Biden told CNN on Dec. 3. "Just 100 days to mask — not forever, just 100 days. And I think we'll see a significant reduction."

April 30, 2021 will be 100 days after Biden's inauguration on Jan. 20.

Also this week, Fauci moved the goalposts of when the U.S. could reach herd immunity. In December, Fauci said the U.S. could reach herd immunity by the summer if the majority of Americans — 75% to 80% — are inoculated with the vaccine by the second quarter of 2021.

However, Fauci walked back his timeline on lastSunday, saying it would be "very difficult" to achieve herd immunity before the end of the summer.

Top members of Biden's COVID-19 response team believe that the "U.S. may not reach herd immunity until Thanksgiving or even the start of winter."
