Italian Americans for Harris: An Offer You Can Refuse

Identity-based Zoom fundraisers are all the rage among Harris-Walz supporters, so Sunday night's "Sunday Sauce Kickoff," organized by Paisans for Kamala, was as inevitable as a tomato sauce stain on a white dress shirt. The event was touted as a virtual old-style Italian family dinner and Alyssa Milano from Who's the Boss was supposed to be there, so I RSVPed right after Mass.

Bill De Blasio Is Single And Ready To Mingle

De Blasio may be running from his wife, but at least he’s not running for office.

Former NYC mayor Bill de Blasio and his wife — who publicly identified as a lesbian earlier in life — announce they're separating and will date people, but will still share their home

After nearly three decades of marriage, former New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio and his wife Chirlane McCray are separating but not planning on divorcing. They will keep sharing their home but will also date people, according to the New York Times. McCray said they will keep sharing the residence "for the time being."

"Even at this moment of change, this is a love story," de Blasio tweeted when sharing a link to the outlet's article.

McCray has said de Blasio and she "are still very much in love" and that they had mutually arrived at their decision.

They tied the knot back in 1994 and now have two adult children.

According to the Times, McCray recounted that around two months ago, de Blasio had asked her, "Why aren't you lovey-dovey anymore?" This lead to a discussion about their relationship.

"You can't fake it," McCray noted on Tuesday, according to the outlet.

"You can feel when things are off," de Blasio remarked, "and you don't want to live that way."

"I can look back now and say, 'Here were these inflection points where we should have been saying something to each other,'" de Blasio said, according to the outlet. "And I think one of the things I should have said more is: 'Are you happy? What will make you happy? What’s missing in your life?'"

According to the Times, the spouses concluded — though with de Blasio being more forceful about it — that the marriage would not be in this condition if de Blasio had not served as mayor of the Big Apple. "Everything was this overwhelming schedule, this sort of series of tasks," he said. "And that kind of took away a little bit of our soul."

Earlier in life, before meeting and marrying de Blasio, McCray had publicly identified as a lesbian.

"For the guy who took the chance on a woman who was an out lesbian and wrote an article called 'I Am a Lesbian,'" de Blasio said, "there was a part of me that would at times say, 'Hmmm, is this like a time bomb ticking? Is this something that you’re going to regret later on?' So I always lived with that stuff."

'Don't hand someone a groundhog': Former NYC Mayor Bill de Blasio discusses the infamous 2014 groundhog incident

Former New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio discussed the infamous 2014 groundhog incident during an interview with Benjamin Hart of New York Magazine's Intelligencer.

Back in 2014, de Blasio lost control of a groundhog, and video shows the creature appearing to squirm out of his grasp before falling to the ground.

Not long thereafter, the groundhog died.

"As a result of the groundhog unexpectedly climbing out of the Mayor's grasp, the animal was given a complete medical examination by the Staten Island Zoo veterinarian immediately following the incident on February 2, 2014. The examination showed no evidence of trauma or pain, with the animal displaying normal behavior," the Staten Island Zoo reportedly said in a statement at the time.

"During the following week after Groundhog Day the animal participated in several events, showing no clinical abnormalities and a normal appetite during this time. One week after Groundhog Day on February 9, the animal was found deceased in its exhibit from internal injuries that the animal most likely sustained sometime during the week after Groundhog Day, potentially overnight while in its exhibit," the statement reportedly said. "A necropsy was performed by the Staten Island Zoo veterinarian, which revealed acute internal injuries."

"The exact cause of the injuries could not be determined. Given the results of the necropsy, the incident appears to have been sudden. It appears unlikely that the animal's death is related to the events on Groundhog Day," the statement reportedly declared.

Hart asked the former mayor whether he regretted dropping the animal.

"Yeah. 100%. I'm like, 'Don't make me hold a f****** groundhog.' I mean, what the hell?" de Blasio said, according to the outlet.

"I go there and it’s seven in the morning, which means my motor skills are not at their best. I put on these gloves, and they're like, 'Here's a groundhog,' I'm like, 'What the f***?' I'm like, 'Don't you have a little more coaching to go with this or whatever?' It was idiocy. Why would you want an elected official to hold a groundhog? I don't know anything about holding groundhogs. So the whole thing is just insane. There's an original sin here. Don't hand someone a groundhog, right?" he said.

"Only trained groundhog holders. And do you squeeze it really tight? I mean, what do you do? So I'm like, talk about a lack of advance work," he added, according to the outlet.
