How To Make Legislatures Stop Working For Special Interests And Start Working For The People

Decentralizing power in the legislature is necessary if the people are to take back control of government from lobbyists and bureaucrats.

Buffalo Bills fans digging out their snow-buried stadium appear to be having a winter blast

Buffalo Bills fans were hooting and hollering at Highmark Stadium in Orchard Park, New York, on Sunday, despite mountains of snow, whiteout conditions, and an absence of players on the field.

The Buffalo Bills were supposed to take on the Pittsburgh Steelers Sunday in the AFC wild-card game, but Mother Nature had plans of her own. A winter storm, characterized as "potentially dangerous and life-threatening" by New York Gov. Kathy Hochul, swept the region, burying the city — and its stadium — in snow.

"Blizzard-like, whiteout conditions are possible, especially Saturday night and much of Sunday, and wind chills are forecast to dip into the single digits on Saturday night and remain there through mid-week," said the governor's office. "Travel in these areas will be difficult to impossible at times, and New Yorkers are urged to pay close attention to the weather and make plans accordingly to stay safe, especially those planning to attend Sunday’s Buffalo Bills' game."

As of Monday morning, Buffalo had received nearly a foot of snow, whereas other spots in Erie County, including Orchard Park, where the Bills' stadium stands, received far more, reported WGRZ-TV.

Hochul called the NFL and recommended the rescheduling of the Bills-Steelers game.

"I've been in communication with NFL commissioner Roger Goodell regarding the dangerous conditions in Buffalo this weekend," Hochul said during a press conference Sunday. "In consultation with our emergency response teams, Buffalo Bills leadership, and the NFL, the Bills game will be postponed."

Snow may be cited as justification to indefinitely postpone competitions in kindler and gentler sports, but not in football. Despite the state of emergency, the Bills-Steelers playoff game was rescheduled for 4:30 p.m. Monday.

To ensure that there will be room for frozen bodies in the stands amidst all the snow and ice, the Bills began paying fans to shovel the stadium, capping the number of volunteers at 200.

The Bills put out the call Sunday evening "asking anyone age 18 and over (or under 18 with proper working papers) interested in shoveling snow inside the stadium" to show up at midnight to begin work for $20 an hour. The team also promised complimentary beverages and breakfast in the morning.

To sweeten the deal, Erie County and the state authorized prospective shovelers to travel to the stadium before it opens to the public.

It appears some shovelers are having a winter blast.

A viral video shows one fan tearing off his shirt then sliding down a culvert intended for snow down to the field.

"Oh hell no," says a nearby observer, chuckling over the display. "That's crazy! That's f***ing crazy!"

Others involved in the cleanup effort did not appear so keen to expose flesh to the elements.

Snug in multiple layers, storm chaser Logan Eschrich noted in a video Sunday that shovelers were having trouble keeping up with the storm.

While most of the travel ban in Erie County had been lifted by early Monday morning, County Executive Mark Poloncarz indicated Orchard Park remained a "no man's land," reported the Buffalo News.

Given the low visibility, icy conditions, and high winds, Monday's game will likely be decided by runs and fumbles.

Matt Araiza falsely accused; will there be any justice?

Matt Araiza was a punter for the Buffalo Bills until a 17-year-old girl accused him of sexually assaulting her at a party.

Araiza denied all allegations, but the Bills still decided to cut him from the roster.

Araiza, who was nicknamed the “Punt God” and went to college at San Diego State, was drafted for his talent. His punt was only 16 yards behind the 1969 NFL record, which still stands at 98 yards.

While Araiza lost a promising career in the NFL because of the accusation, information has now been released that he wasn’t even at the party when the alleged rape occurred.

According to reports, there are videos of the accuser having sex at the same party with several different men.

Keith Malinak went on "Pat Gray Unleashed" to discuss.

“This guy has lost his job, his livelihood, his reputation. Will he ever be employed in the NFL?” Malinak asks.

Pat Gray believes that there should be repercussions for false accusations, “and they should be severe.”

Malinak suggests that a false accusation should warrant the same sentence that the accused rapist might have gotten.

“If it’s proven that you fabricated this, goodbye. Whatever the sentence would have been, put it in front of a judge and let him decide.”

B-52's issue super-woke statement blasting bills proposed in the US

The B-52's, a band known for songs such as "Rock Lobster" and "Love Shack," has issued a statement denouncing unspecified bills in the U.S. that they claim are promoting "transphobia and discrimination against transgender individuals and drag artists."

"We, The B-52's, are deeply concerned about the numerous new bills that promote transphobia and discrimination against transgender individuals and drag artists, which have been introduced in the United States. We strongly denounce these bills and stand in solidarity with our LGBTQ+ community," the band said in a statement.

"It is unacceptable that in the 21st century, we are witnessing such blatant attempts to undermine the rights of individuals based on their gender identity and sexual orientation. These bills not only violate the fundamental human rights of the affected individuals but also perpetuate a toxic culture of hate and intolerance that has no place in our society," the band claimed. "Join us in denouncing these bills and standing in support of our LGBTQ+ community. Together, let us work towards building a society that reflects our shared being and is truly just, inclusive, and welcoming for all."

While the band did not cite any specific pieces of legislation, their comments come amid ongoing cultural controversies over issues such as whether biological males who identify as women should be permitted to play in female sports, whether minors should be able to undergo gender-transition procedures, and whether children should be present at drag performances.

Commonsense bills around the U.S. seek to tackle these types of issues and protect kids.

For example, South Dakota has approved a measure that prohibits performing sex-reassignment surgeries on minors, prohibits providing minors with puberty blockers, and prohibits suppling minors with unnatural levels of hormones for the purpose of validating the minor's perceived sex which differs from their actual sex.

Shaquille O'Neal pays huge $25,000 bill for every patron at a Manhattan restaurant: Report

NBA star Shaquille O'Neal reportedly paid the tabs of all restaurant patrons at a Manhattan eatery on Sunday night.

The tab, according to reports, came to more than $25,000.

What are the details?

The good deed unfolded at the Jue Lan Club in New York City after the basketball legend arrived at the restaurant.

According to Bleacher Report, O'Neal "proceeded to purchase dinner for the eatery's entire staff along with covering all of his fellow diner's [sic] bills, which he told restaurant workers to only reveal to the customers after he left the establishment." The bill covered approximately 40 tables, according to reports.

A source told the New York Post that Shaq "left them the biggest tip they've ever received." The restaurant, which specializes in Asian fare, features an expansive menu with offerings ranging in price from $12 to $40 and upward.

Complex has reported that the basketball legend has a net worth of more than $400 million.

O'Neal has yet to speak out on the reports at the time of publication.

Anything else to know about this?

In 2017, O'Neal said that he enjoys gracious tipping and helping out those in the hardworking service industry.

"When I'm at restaurants, I am a big tipper," he told late-night TV host Jimmy Kimmel during an interview about his propensity toward generosity. "I like to show people my appreciation. So when they come up to the table, I say, 'The quicker I get my order, the bigger your tip will be.' And then the food will come fast."

He added that he'll even sometimes ask servers to name their price — and pointed out that some aren't terribly shy about stating their needs.

"When we get ready to leave, I’ll ask them, 'What do you want?' And the most someone said was $4,000. And I said, 'OK. No problem,'" he recalled.
