Elderly woman mauled to death by own pit bull, husband and cops injured in attack: 'The heart and soul of our family is gone'

An elderly Massachusetts woman was mauled to death by her own dog, according to investigators. The Boston woman's husband and two police officers also were injured in the dog attack.

Jeriline Brady-McGinnis — a 73-year-old from Roxbury — was attacked by her own pit bull in her home around 4:30 p.m. Monday.

'She’s very close to her animals, almost like children ...'

Investigators said the dog also attacked the victim's husband as he tried to save her, plus two Boston police officers responding to the pit bull attack. All four were rushed to a local hospital. However, Brady-McGinnis allegedly died in surgery.

WFXT-TV reported that a pit bull named Deuce mauled Brady-McGinnis to death. The officers and the husband suffered non-life-threatening injuries, according to police.

Once the officers were attacked, another cop shot at the pit bull, according to WFXT. The outlet obtained surveillance video allegedly showing three shots being fired when police arrived on the scene.

The dog was transported to Angell Animal Medical Center for treatment. But due to "his worsening condition and poor prognosis," officials decided to euthanize the dog, according to Boston Animal Control.

Brady-McGinnis allegedly owned four dogs. The three other dogs reportedly were removed from the home. Neighbors told WBZ-TV they were scared of the dogs. WBZ-TV spoke to Jean McGuire — the landlord and close friend of Brady-McGinnis.

"She’s very close to her animals, almost like children, I think,” McGuire said. "She took good care of them. She walked them every day."

McGuire — a 93-year-old civil rights pioneer and the first black woman elected to the Boston School Committee — said Brady-McGinnis was like a "sister" to her.

“She’s a wonderful person. A very generous, a very loving person. Loved animals,” McGuire said of McGinnis. “I’ve lost my sister. She’s a sister.”

The family of Brady-McGinnis remembered the elderly victim as having a "heart of gold."

Brady-McGinnis' three children — Chris, Ronald, and Donald — told WBZ, "Our mother was a loving and caring mother. She put her children first. … The heart and soul of our family is gone."

The family said Brady-McGinnis cooked dinner for her dogs every night.

The Boston Police Department's Homicide Unit reportedly is investigating the dog attack.

'She's not very smart': Boston mayor vows to hinder deportation of illegal aliens. Homan signals it won't matter.

Boston's Democratic mayor has worked hard to depreciate the value of citizenship and degrade the quality of living in her city.

Michelle Wu, a soft-on-crime defender of race-segregated events who drafted a list of critics for police to check on, has funneled taxpayer funds to nonprofits that aid illegal aliens; advocated for closing the Boston Police gang database as well as for allowing noncitizens to vote in local elections; conditioned participation in city life on vaccination status; stood idly by while undocumented migrants overwhelm her city; and looked to noncitizens and children to make potential budgetary decisions.

Given her track record and Boston's "sanctuary city" status, Wu's recent suggestions that Beantown might try to hinder the incoming Trump administration's efforts to deport criminal illegal aliens were altogether unsurprising. She may have, however, been surprised by the frankness of the response by President-elect Donald Trump's incoming "border czar."

'They can't cross a clear line.'

Wu, who is planning to run for re-election in 2025, reminded GBH News last week that Boston law prohibits police and city officials from helping federal authorities track down and deport illegal aliens. While the laws on the books only guarantee passivity from local law enforcement, she intimated that the city might take an active role in impeding deportation efforts, noting that she has been planning for a number of different scenarios.

"We still have other mechanisms where we can identify spaces that might be most targeted and think about protections there," said Wu.

When speaking to WCVB-TV on Sunday, Wu appeared to suggest that the city will exhaust its options when protecting illegal aliens from consequence.

What we can do is make sure that we are doing our part to protect our residents in every possible way, that we are not cooperating with those efforts that actually threaten the safety of everyone by causing widespread fear and having large-scale economic impact. And then we are providing the spaces to reach out directly to our residents because the last thing we want is for people who are part of our economy, part of our school system, part of our community and the fabric of our city to feel that all of a sudden, they have to retreat in the shadows.

In response to Wu, former acting director of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement Thomas D. Homan told Newsmax TV's Greg Kelly, "She's not very smart."

"President Trump is going to prioritize public safety threats. What mayor or governor doesn't want public safety threats out of their communities? That's our number one responsibility: to protect their communities, and that's exactly what we're going to do," said Homan. "So she helps us [or] she gets the hell out of the way because we're going to do it."

Homan stressed that federal law is explicit and Wu would do best to follow it.

"There's a clear line here. They can't cross a clear line. I would suggest that she read Title 8, United States Code 1324 iii that says you can't harbor, conceal an illegal alien from federal law enforcement officers," said Homan. "I hope she don't cross that line. They can not cooperate, but there are certain laws in place that they can't cross."

The law that Homan referred to makes it a punishable offense if one "conceals, harbors or shields from detection, or attempts to conceal, harbor or shield from detection" illegal aliens.

If violating the statute and placing someone's life in jeopardy, the offender could be fined and/or imprisoned for up to 20 years for each alien involved. If by violating the statute an individual gets someone killed, then the offender could be "punished by death or imprisoned for any term of years or for life."

Like Wu, Massachusetts Gov. Maura Healey (D) has indicated that she would use "every tool in the toolbox" to shield "residents" from accountability.

Blaze News previously reported that Homan intends to send more ICE officers to sanctuary jurisdictions that refuse to cooperate with federal immigration officials.

"If they're not gonna help us, then we'll just double the manpower in those cities. They don't want ICE agents in their neighborhoods, but they don't let ICE agents in the jail. They don't understand, if you let us in the jail, that'd be less agents in your neighborhood," Homan told "Fox News Live."

'No balls necessary': Women's soccer team apologizes to transgender community for 'too many balls' ad campaign

A new franchise in the National Women's Soccer League has issued an apology for airing a commercial asserting there are "too many balls" in Boston sports.

The BOS Nation Football Club posted a one-minute video on X Tuesday that features cameos from Tom Brady and a member of the Boston Bruins. The video focuses on Boston's championship culture and highlights the "trophies, banners, rings, and balls" in the city.

'At a time when trans women are being excluded from sport at every level, is "too many balls" really the tagline you want to go with here?'

"Old balls, new balls, steel balls, cold balls, even goat balls," the narrator says.

The video then shifts focus on how Boston could use a new women's team.

"Boston loves its balls, but maybe there are too many balls in this town," the voiceover continues, before introducing the club.

"We are BOS Nation, where anything is possible. No balls necessary," it concludes.

The entire campaign was in jest, and some might say completely harmless given the context, but that didn't stop the team from crumbling under criticism from activists.

Notably, a WNBA writer said the ad felt like it excluded transgender people.

"The thing that bothers me the most about this campaign is how TERFy it comes across," Frankie de la Cretaz wrote. "At a time when trans women are being excluded from sport at every level, is 'too many balls' really the tagline you want to go with here?"

The acronym "TERF" stands for "trans-exclusionary radical feminists," meaning feminists who don't believe males can become females.

De la Cretaz also wrote about feeling "unsafe" at a WNBA game because a fan was wearing a Make America Great Again hat.

Amid the hubbub, the BOS Nation Football Club deleted its campaign video then issued a groveling apology to anyone offended.

"While we had hoped to create a bold and buzzworthy brand launch campaign, we missed the mark," the team said in a statement. "We fully acknowledge that the content of the campaign did not reflect the safe and welcoming environment we strive to create for all, and we apologize to the LGBTQ+ community and to the trans community in particular for the hurt we caused."

The team's statement also declared that "we are proud to be part of the most inclusive sports league in the world and are committed to upholding the unifying values that define the NWSL and our club."

The team then thanked those who held them accountable and called for them to "do better."

"We hear you and we will, together," the statement concluded.

As has become typical with members of woke activist mobs, the apology was not received well, and they immediately started demanding that the team change its name:

  • "Just change the name and fire the people who were involved in approving this advertising, and it will help," the top response read.
  • "Now apologize for the name and actually choose a name," another reply demanded.
  • "At its face, defining women on the existence of men is just a really weak marketing play in 2024," another user declared.

The NWSL has been celebrating activism for years, including "Pride Month" and Juneteenth.

The league also has instituted "ongoing efforts" to expand diversity, equity, and inclusion programs that focus on "promoting equality and social justice within the sports community and society at large."

Red Sox Jarren Duran jersey sales explode after suspension for insulting heckler — becomes bestseller on MLB shop

Boston Red Sox outfielder Jarren Duran saw a surge in his jersey sales on the MLB merchandise website despite serving a suspension for responding to a heckler with vulgar language.

Duran was suspended for two games on August 12, 2024, after he responded to a heckler in the sixth inning during a 10-2 blowout loss to the Houston Astros.

"Tennis racket, tennis racket, you need a tennis racket!" the fan can be heard yelling.

Duran then turned to the crowd and was heard saying, "Shut up, you f***ing faggot!"

Despite an apology from Duran and an outpour of dramatic statements from team officials, the All Star was still suspended for the pair of games with his pay ($8,172) being donated to a pro-transgender organization.

During his absence, fans reportedly supported Duran with a flood of social media remarks while many others supported him with their wallets by buying his jersey.

According to Fox News, Duran's jersey became the top seller on the MLB's official online store on Wednesday.

Japanese star Shohei Ohtani jerseys reportedly took the next three spots.

At the time of this writing, Duran's jersey is nowhere to be seen on the page. However, a customizable Red Sox jersey with which customers can select Duran's name (or any Red Sox player) is No. 6 on the bestseller list. Ohtani still has the top three spots.

Duran conspiracies

Other rumors swirled about Duran during his return regarding standing ovations and record-breaking sales.

One video in particular alleged to show a standing ovation for Duran upon his return to the batter's box, however, the video was spliced together with different sets of audio and video.

"Two of [the videos] were from August 13, 2023 for Detroit Tigers legend Miguel Cabrera's final game at Fenway Park," a community note on X said.

At the same time, a reporter for the Boston Herald said that Duran received "a louder than usual cheer when his name was introduced in the pregame lineups," along with "another hand" as he stepped up to the plate in his return.

— (@)

'I'm glad they didn't fine me. They just gave me a warning.'

Other claims that Duran's jersey sales broke a single-day record for the MLB Shop appear to be uncorroborated and do not seem to have an official source.

Several outlets cited a post on X from a user named Simon Charles, however, no citation appeared to exist.

There were also suggestions that Duran responded to his suspension by wearing a shirt that says "f*ck 'em."

Particularly Dan Shaughnessy, sports columnist for the Boston Globe, said that "after getting suspended for 2 games for aiming homophobic slur at Fenway fan, Jarren Duran chose to wear this shirt in his pregame presser today."

Duran did indeed wear the shirt, however, a quick search revealed that Duran has been wearing shirts branded with the same phrase for some time, with the MLB even warning him about a possible fine in early July 2024.

"I'm glad they didn't fine me. They just gave me a warning," Duran said at the time.

The phrase, along with "I'm still here" and "still alive," are references to Duran's struggle with mental health, which he has openly expressed in the past.

Boston Red Sox star Jarren Duran suspended 2 games for insulting heckler with 'a truly horrific word'

Boston Red Sox star outfielder Jarren Duran was suspended for two games after he responded to a heckling fan with a disparaging remark.

The Red Sox were losing 10-0 against the Houston Astros in the sixth inning when Duran was up to bat. As he was adjusting his equipment, a heckler could be heard giving the All-Star a hard time.

"Tennis racket, tennis racket, you need a tennis racket!" the fan can be heard yelling.

Duran then turned to the crowd and was heard saying "shut up, you f***ing faggot!"

The Red Sox ended up losing 10-2 after giving up nine runs in the fourth and fifth innings.

'During tonight's game, I used a truly horrific word when responding to a fan.'

The audio was captured on the live broadcast, which Duran said he immediately realized and quickly apologized to home plate umpire Jordan Baker and Astros catcher Yainer Diaz.

"They were right there; they heard me say it. I'm assuming they cut the mic because of my inappropriate word," Duran said.

The 27-year-old said in a statement that he apologized for using a truly "horrific word" in response to the heckler.

"During tonight's game, I used a truly horrific word when responding to a fan."

"I feel awful knowing how many people I offended and disappointed. I apologize to the entire Red Sox organization but more importantly to the entire LGBTQ community. Our young fans are supposed to be able to look up to me as a role model, but tonight I fell far short of that responsibility."

As is typical with these sorts of incidents, Duran said he plans on being re-educated.

"I will use this opportunity to educate myself and my teammates and to grow as a person."

The Californian said that there was no intent behind his choice of words; rather he simply said it in "the heat of the moment," and he noted that the fan was heckling him "the entire game."

"I said something I shouldn't have said," Duran added.

The Red Sox announced that his lost salary from the two games ($8,172) will be donated to a gay activist organization called PFLAG, formerly called Parents, Families and Friends of Lesbians and Gays, according to ESPN.

On its "what we stand for" page, PFLAG touts supporting transgenderism, race-based activism, and the inclusion of gay-centric education in schools.

The Red Sox president and CEO called the day "difficult" and "disappointing" after Duran's suspension. He also said that he was proud of how the organization handled the situation and proud of Duran for "acknowledging his horrific mistake."

Red Sox manager Alex Cora said, "There's a lot of work to be done, and I'm here to help him out."

"He made a big mistake; he's living with it, right?" Cora told reporters. "As a manager, I've got to do my job. As a person, there's more from my end. ... It's what I can do as a person to support him and help him to be better."

It was previously reported by a journalist from the Boston Herald that Boston Mayor Michelle Wu had requested a meeting with Duran over his words, but the post on X has since been deleted and the report has not been verified.

America No Longer Has A ‘Common Cause.’ Our Forefathers Would Be Ashamed

'The die is now cast, the [American] colonies must now either submit or triumph.'

Massachusetts to ban illegal aliens from sleeping at Boston’s Logan Airport

Massachusetts Gov. Maura Healey (D) announced Friday that illegal aliens will soon no longer be allowed to sleep at Boston Logan International Airport.

Reports from earlier this month stated that the number of illegal immigrants residing at the airport appears to be increasing. More than 100 individuals are sleeping on the floor in the baggage claim area on makeshift beds and air mattresses, the New York Post previously reported.

Beginning on July 9, the illegal aliens will be forced to leave the airport. Healey’s administration stated they would be offered accommodations at a new overflow site located in Norfolk. The neighborhood’s former Bay State Correctional Center has been converted into a temporary shelter.

'In the best interest of families and travelers and staff.'

Healey’s administration previously claimed that it plans to use the facility as a shelter for illegal immigrants for six to 12 months. The site can house approximately 450 people, or 140 families, according to WBTS-TV.

The state aims to help the illegal aliens relocate “where they have family or another option for a safe place to stay,” WBZ reported.

Massachusetts, the only right-to-shelter state in the country, ran out of shelter space in November after providing accommodations to 7,500 families. Since then, the Healey administration has been relying on temporary emergency overflow sites to house pregnant women and families with children under 21 years old.

Emergency Assistance Director Scott Rice said, “This is in the best interest of families and travelers and staff at Logan, as the airport is not an appropriate place for people to seek shelter.”

Rice previously explained that the new overflow site features dorm-like rooms, a cafeteria, a gymnasium, a common room, and offices.

“We are going to continue to spread the word that Massachusetts is out of shelter space and that, if families are traveling to Massachusetts, they need to be prepared with a plan for housing that does not include Logan Airport or our Emergency Assistance shelters,” Rice added.

WBTS reported Wednesday that 20 to 25 families have already moved into the former decommissioned prison turned overflow site.

Rice stated that the administration has been focusing on moving individuals from shelters into “more stable housing.”

“With this progress, the recent opening of a new safety-net site in Norfolk and the new nine-month length of stay policy, we are now in a position to end the practice of families staying overnight in the airport,” Rice explained.
