Marilyn Manson accused of sexually assaulting 16-year-old, lawsuit claims rocker threatened to kill girl's family if she told anyone
Singer Marilyn Manson faces a new accusation of sexual assault. A lawsuit claims that the singer, born Brian Warner, sexually assaulted a minor multiple times in the 1990s.
Manson was hit with a lawsuit on Monday by an anonymous woman. Jane Doe accused Manson of grooming and sexually abusing her for years starting when she was 16 years old. However, the woman continually sought out Manson on multiple tour stops over the course of several years.
The lawsuit, filed in Nassau County Supreme Court on Long Island, New York, accuses Manson of sexual battery and intentional infliction of emotional distress. The lawsuit also accuses Manson's former record labels, Trent Reznor’s Nothing Records and Interscope, of negligence, intentional infliction of emotional distress, and other charges.
The plaintiff alleges that she first met Manson in 1995 following a concert in Dallas, Texas. Jane Doe, who was 16 years old at the time, claims that she was waiting outside his tour bus when he invited her inside along with "one of the other younger girls."
The lawsuit claims, "While on the tour bus, Defendant Warner performed various acts of criminal sexual conduct upon Plaintiff, who was a virgin at the time, including but not limited to forced copulation and vaginal penetration."
The lawsuit says the plaintiff was "in pain, scared, upset, humiliated, and confused."
"Then Defendant Warner demanded Plaintiff to 'get the f*** off of my bus' and threatened Plaintiff that if she told anyone he would kill her and her family," the suit alleges.
The woman says that a crew member provided her with a phone number for the band and a password so she could meet Manson again. Manson purportedly talked to the plaintiff and asked her for explicit photos of her and her friends.
The lawsuit claims that she began using drugs and alcohol shortly after the alleged sexual assault.
Despite the alleged sexual assault, the plaintiff traveled to New Orleans that same year to meet Manson again.
The lawsuit claims that Manson "groomed" the then-16-year-old plaintiff by complimenting her artwork. The plaintiff claims that Manson sexually assaulted her again, but this time it was "more aggressive."
The age of consent is 17 in Texas and Louisiana.
At age 18, Jane Doe allegedly began dating Chris Vrenna, drummer for the band Nine Inch Nails. Vrenna is said to have a "close association with Warner."
In 1999, Jane Doe allegedly went to a Marilyn Manson concert in Dallas. She then reconnected with Manson after traveling to see his concert in New Orleans.
Rolling Stone reported, "He continued this pattern throughout the time they spent together, Doe alleges, claiming that when she was 19, Warner 'perpetuated his grooming, manipulation, exploitation and sexual assault of Plaintiff' over the course of approximately a month."
"Jane Doe traveled to numerous cities and states, including New York. At each event, Warner and his band brought her backstage and on the bus," the lawsuit alleges. "During this period, Jane Doe encountered Warner virtually every day. Warner and his associates provided drugs to Jane Doe, and Warner continued to groom, harass and sexually abuse her."
"Defendant Warner often coerced Plaintiff to have sex with him and other band members or his assistant at the same time," the suit claims. "Defendant Warner controlled what Plaintiff could do, who could touch Plaintiff, and who he wanted Plaintiff to be with sexually, all while providing Plaintiff with drugs."
The suit accuses Manson of "emotional manipulation" and "hostile and verbally abusive behavior." The lawsuit states, "While she was still a child, Defendant Warner had purposefully and intentionally laid the groundwork necessary to intimidate and control her."
More than a dozen women have accused Manson of sex crimes. Two lawsuits against Manson have been dismissed.
Actress Evan Rachel Wood filed a civil suit against Manson, claiming that the rocker raped her and threatened to "harm her" if she went public about the abuse.
Last week, Manson reached a settlement in a sexual lawsuit filed by actress Esmé Bianco. The "Game of Thrones" actress sued Manson in April 2021. She accused the musician of rape and verbal and physical abuse dating back to 2007.
In February 2021, Manson was dropped by his record label – Loma Vista Recordings – over the sex abuse allegations.
