'A black man telling the truth' calls into C-SPAN to explain why Democrats cannot be trusted to solve violent crime

On the issue of crime and "law & order," which party should be trusted: Republicans or Democrats?

That was the question C-SPAN posed to viewers recently, receiving more than the network bargained for when a black man who lived in a Democrat-run city for decades made it clear Democrats cannot be trusted to solve crime problems.

What happened?

Last month, during an open forum on the "Washington Journal," a black man who lived New York for decades called into the show to tell "the truth" about Democrat-run cities.

"I believe the Republicans are better. Why? As a New Yorker that lived in New York from Mayor Koch through Mayor Bloomberg, Democrats and particularly these days, in all honesty as a black man telling the truth, Democratic mayors that is black, whether they male or female; Democratic police commissioners that's black, male or female... Democratic cities, they're run into the ground," the caller said.

The caller added that these leaders are "soft on crime" because they don't "put the hammer down."

"As opposed to the Republicans, who of course are hard on crime, and they are way more supportive of the police," the caller said.

"In my opinion, nationally, city by city, crime-wise, you might want Republicans as your mayors, as your police commissioners whether they’re white or black, whether they [are] male or female because they're more inclined to take crime more seriously and be more inclined to protect and support the victims of crime," he explained.

Earlier in the show, another caller from New York said Republicans have the "moral high ground" on the issue of violent crime.

"In this particular case, the Republican Party has the moral high ground. I say that because recently, you watched, in my opinion, Democratic support for the burning and looting of our cities— calling them 'peaceful protests,' destroying monuments and everything," that caller said.

What do polls show?

Violent crime is one of the most important issues to voters, often ranking just behind the economy in various polls.

And, just like the callers who phoned into C-SPAN, more voters appear to trust the Republican Party over the Democratic Party to solve problems of violent crime.

Reporter asks James O'Keefe if using 'deception' during an investigation is OK, and his response is PERFECT

Reporter asks James O'Keefe if using 'deception' during an investigation is OK, and his response is PERFECT

We live in an era when information is at our fingertips, and the truth is under attack more than ever. Project Veritas journalists and the whistleblowers who come forward in the name of truth experience trauma many cannot comprehend. Truth is a dangerous business, and the mainstream media does not take too kindly to investigative journalists who threaten their stronghold on the going narrative. These brave patriots face backlash from corrupt organizations and politicians that range from the New York Times writing a hit piece about the journalist to being arrested by the FBI.

If you are sure there is a problem with journalism but have yet to pinpoint the exact problem, look no further. James O'Keefe of Project Veritas told C-SPAN's Peter Slen and discussed the ethics of so-called deceptive investigative tactics used by Project Veritas' journalists.

The clip began with Slen asking O'Keefe if it Is okay to deceive a subject during an investigation. O'Keefe gave a two-part answer: You either deceive the target and tell the truth to your audience, or you do not deceive the subject and risk disseminating false information.

O'Keefe quoted ethicist Lous Hodges who argues that journalists have a moral imperative to deceive their subjects if they intend to do investigative reporting. He added that it is a worse deception to claim to do investigative reporting when the journalist wants to read off of a teleprompter and believe everything the subject says.

VIDEO: Brian Stelter brutally roasted by angry C-SPAN callers: Biggest minister of misinformation'

CNN host Brian Stelter was torched during a recent appearance on C-SPAN's "Washington Journal," with callers mocking Stelter as the "minister of misinformation" and denouncing CNN for their slanted coverage.

What did the callers say?

"I'd like to ask Brian, on national television, admit that he and his network are a bunch of liars about Donald Trump," one caller, Gordon from Kansas, said.

"Mr. Stelter is the biggest minister of misinformation I have ever heard and I'm a news junkie. He made the statement just a few minutes ago that the stories are always evolving. Yeah, his stories absolutely evolve," another caller, identified as Kevin from Indiana, told Stelter.

"CNN is just something that's a joke. It's a joke. This guy tells more lies and Fox gives more news than CNN does— it's nothing but lies," another caller, identified as Robert from Indiana, said.

One caller even mocked Stelter for regularly hosting Michael Avenatti on his CNN show. Stelter infamously once told Avenatti, who is now facing numerous legal issues, that, "I'm taking you seriously as a [2020 presidential] contender is because of your presence on cable news."

Rick from Georgia mocked, "I was just wondering if you still feel like Michael Avenatti is the greatest thing in the world and should run for president of the United States. My suggestion is, whatever CNN says, do the opposite and you'll do fine."

Stelter took the criticism in stride, telling one critic, "Thank you for the feedback, I appreciate it." At other points, he defended himself and CNN.

Anything else?

Comedian Joe Rogan similarly tore into Stelter on his podcast last week, blasting the CNN host for his softball interview with White House press secretary Jen Psaki.

"How about Brian Stelter talking to the press secretary saying, 'What are we doing wrong? What are we doing wrong?' Like, hey motherf***er, you're supposed to be a journalist!" Rogan exclaimed.

The recent roasting was also not the first time C-SPAN callers have directly criticized Stelter while appearing on "Washington Journal."

Last September, one caller called Stelter "Humpty Dumpty" and told him, "We all know you're not reliable." Another caller told Stelter, "I don't believe in dividing our nation, it hurts our great nation, and so CNN is really the enemy of the truth. That's my opinion, thank you."
