'California is committed to stopping the greatest existential threat our planet has ever known': Newsom travels to China, discusses climate change with Chinese leaders

California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D), an outspoken proponent of climate alarmism who is currently visiting China, met with Chinese President Xi Jinping and other Chinese officials to discuss climate and other issues.

In a post on X, Newsom claimed that there is a "climate crisis" which is "the greatest existential threat" earth has ever encountered.

"California and China are two of the world's largest economies. The reality is, we cannot solve the climate crisis without working together. Despite our major differences, California is committed to stopping the greatest existential threat our planet has ever known," Newsom's tweet reads.

The Democratic governor was re-elected last year after surviving a recall election in 2021.

"Governor Newsom met with Chinese President Xi Jinping and other high-level Chinese officials to discuss climate action, economic development, cultural exchange, human rights concerns, and democracy," a press release states.

"Throughout his meetings, Governor Newsom discussed how California and China can continue working together to advance climate action, promote economic development and tourism, and strengthen cultural ties. The Governor reiterated California’s commitment to serving as a reliable partner on the climate crisis, and how critical China remains in the world’s efforts to reduce pollution," the press release reads.

"The Governor and his Chinese counterparts touched on a variety of human rights issues including Hong Kong, Tibet, Xinjiang and Taiwan, as well as David Lin, a California pastor who has been imprisoned in China since 2006," the press release states. "The Governor also discussed the high-priority issue of the fentanyl crisis and China’s role in combating the transnational shipping of precursor chemicals."

Newsom visited Israel before heading to China.

The Golden State governor is slated to debate Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis next month. DeSantis is currently running in the Republican presidential primary.

Calif. Gov. Gavin Newsom's wife testifies in graphic detail that Harvey Weinstein raped her in 2005, gets grilled aggressively by Weinstein lawyer

The wife of California Gov. Gavin Newsom testified in graphic detail that former movie mogul Harvey Weinstein raped her in 2005 — and a Weinstein lawyer pushed back with an aggressive cross-examination of Jennifer Siebel Newsom.

Siebel Newsom offered testimony Monday and Tuesday in Los Angeles, the Associated Press reported. Weinstein, 70, is charged with one count each of forcible rape and forcible oral copulation involving Siebel Newsom, KCBS-TV said.

What are the details?

On Monday, Siebel Newsom repeatedly broke down in tears while saying Weinstein raped and sexually assaulted her 17 years ago in his suite in the Peninsula hotel in Beverly Hills, when she was starting out in Hollywood.

Siebel Newsom — a documentary filmmaker and actress — said Weinstein didn't seem interested in talking to her about her projects and said he was "going to get more comfortable" before he called her for help from the bathroom, the station said.

"I didn't know there was danger," she noted, according to KCBS. "I thought maybe he was hurt."

Siebel Newsom said Weinstein was "touching himself" and "tried to get me to touch him," the station said.

"I just was, like, frozen," she added, according to KCBS. "I was scared. This was not why I came here. It was like a complete manipulation of why I was there."

Siebel Newsom said she didn't recall if Weinstein carried her into the bedroom or dragged her there by the arm, the station said, adding that she testified that Weinstein began groping her breasts and touched his penis while she was standing and "resisting" against the bed.

KCBS said Siebel Newsom offered a "graphic account" of the encounter with Weinstein.

"I was afraid of what he was doing, putting his body into my body and hurting me," she testified, according to the station, and added that she put her hand on his penis and made some "pleasure noises" to put an end to what was happening.

Siebel Newsom also said she felt "tremendous shame" and "tried to put what happened into a box, even though it came out at times," KCBS reported.

"He had taken a piece of me," she added, according to the station, and also noted that afterward, she pretended like nothing had happened.

"I was so violated, and I don't know how that happened. I didn't see the clues, and I didn't know how to escape," Siebel Newsom said, according to KCBS. "He, like, destroyed me emotionally and physically. It made being in the entertainment industry really hard and not enjoyable."

Pushback

On Tuesday, Weinstein attorney Mark Werksman — who suggested in his opening statement last month that if Siebel Newsom hadn't cast herself as a victim, she would be “just another bimbo who slept with Harvey Weinstein to get ahead in Hollywood" — aggressively questioned her, the Los Angeles Times reported.

Werksman asked why Siebel Newsom began sending Weinstein emails seeking to meet with him again about nine months after the alleged rape, the paper said.

“Are you free for coffee or lunch this coming Monday or Tues,” she wrote to Weinstein in September 2006, the Times said, adding that Werksman asked why she was seeking “to see your rapist as soon as you could.”

“It was just business,” Siebel Newsom replied, the paper said. “I was probably just trying to get advice.”

Werksman also asked her about a May 2007 email exchange in which she inquired about meeting Weinstein during the Cannes Film Festival in France, the Times said, adding that Siebel Newsom called her email “networking" and told the jury, “I was just hustling.”

“You were hustling with a man you claim violently raped you?” Werksman asked, the paper noted.

The judge sustained a prosecutor’s objection, the Times reported, and Siebel Newsom didn't respond.

Bay Area calls on residents to take homeless into their OWN HOMES

Bay Area officials have come up with a new solution for the progressive utopia's ever-worsening homeless crisis: Why not just have local residents take homeless people into their own homes?

Last year, California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) actually invited more homeless people to come from other states to pursue "new beginnings" in the Golden State, adding that Californians "have a responsibility to accommodate" these newcomers. Well, it looks like he meant this literally, as according to the Mercury News, government programs and nonprofits are now asking Bay Area property owners to help accommodate the area's nearly 30,000 homeless individuals.

Homeless people have taken the governor up on his offer, moving to the Bay Area to take advantage of $820 per month welfare and food stamp provisions as well as notoriously lax law enforcement.

People say lack of housing forces local residents into the streets, but James says he came from Texas to San Francisco for the drugs, the non-enforcement of anti-camping laws, and the $820/month in welfare & food stamps. California's homeless crisis has only gotten worse since Governor Newsom was elected, but it's hardly a new problem for the Golden State. Calif. Gov. Newsom faces new scandal as he yanks his kids from summer camp with no mask requirement — but only after maskless photos emerge on social media

California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) has removed his children from a summer camp after photos emerged showing his maskless son indoors with other unmasked children.

According to the San Francisco Chronicle, the summer camp did not require masks to be worn — a move that was in defiance of the state's COVID-19 guidance.

What are the details?

Newsom's communications director, Erin Mellon, told Fox News on Tuesday that the pictures prompted clear concerns. Newsom had two kids, ages 10 and 11, attending the day camp, Mellon said, according to the Associated Press.

"The Newsoms were concerned to see unvaccinated children unmasked indoors at a camp their children began attending yesterday," Mellon told the outlet. "Their kids will no longer be attending the camp."

According to the outlet, the state's guidance for children ages 2 to 11 states that all must be masked during "camps for youth, youth sports, and other youth activities, including theater, and music performances, and band."

After the photos emerged and Mellon's statement was circulated, a copy of the camp's mask policy — a policy that was reportedly sent to all parents before the camp began summer sessions — began making the rounds on social media and clearly stated, "Masks will not be enforced. Please know that your child is more than welcome to wear a mask during camp."

Following the controversy, the governor's office issued a follow-up statement stating that the Newsom family "reviewed communication from the camp and realized that an email was missed saying the camp would not enforce masking guidance."

What else?

Activist group Reopen California Schools made headlines with a tweet pointing out what it said was Newsom's hypocrisy.

The tweet read, "#Breaking Photos posted to Instagram reveal Gavin Newsom's 10-year-old son w/ other kids maskless, indoors & not distancing at a basketball summer camp, even while spectating. This is in clear violation of his own mask mandates. Why can his kid be maskless, but not ours?"

The tweet continued, "The photos were removed from the summer camp's Instagram account once Newsom's son was identified, but there is [sic] plenty of screenshots and video out there. We have some. The Instagram post occurs as Newsom pushes for increased vaccine rates if we ever want to be rid of masks."

What's Reopen California Schools?

According to the Sacramento Bee, Zachreson leads the Reopen California Schools group, which is a "parent advocacy group" that is suing the Newsom administration over its in-school mask mandates.

Earlier this month, state officials announced that all California students and educators would be required to wear masks while in school even if they are vaccinated.

The group, according to the outlet, pushed for public schools to reopen faster during the pandemic, and is now advocating for more relaxed restrictions as the 2021-22 school year gets ready to kick off.

Reopen California Schools "argues masks should be voluntary for students and teachers, and quarantine rules should be relaxed so kids aren't kept out of school even if they don't have symptoms just because of a COVID exposure," the outlet added.

Zachreson told the outlet that the incident highlights what he says is Newsom's hypocrisy.

"This clearly demonstrates that he doesn't believe there's a risk," he said. "His kids get to live by a different set of rules."

An unmasked Newsom faced scrutiny and criticism in November after photos showed him dining with a large, maskless group at an indoor restaurant..

Vice President Harris says she plans to campaign for California Gov. Newsom in recall election

Vice President Kamala Harris has said that she plans to campaign for California Gov. Gavin Newsom as he faces a recall election.

The San Francisco Chronicle reported that Harris responded with a "yes" to a question from the outlet on Wednesday as she was departing the Capitol.

While serving as a U.S. senator from the Golden State, Harris mounted her own Democratic presidential primary bid during the last election cycle but ultimately suspended her presidential campaign. Prior to serving in the U.S. Senate, Harris served as the California attorney general and as San Francisco district attorney.

Newsom, who has served as California's governor since 2019, is currently facing a recall election that could result in his ejection from office more than a year before his term is slated to end in January 2023.

There were more than 1.7 million verified signatures on petitions to recall the governor, which surpassed the amount required to qualify for a recall election.

On the ballot, California voters will be asked whether Newsom should be recalled, and they will be able to select from a list of candidates vying to replace Newsom.

If a majority of voters indicate that Newsom should be ousted from office, the challenger with the most votes would become the new governor.

Dozens of candidates have thrown their hats into the ring, which means that if voters choose to remove Newsom, the vote for his replacement could be split in many directions and the victor could win with only a fraction of the total vote, according to the Associated Press, which suggested that a winner could potentially receive 25% or less of the vote.

If voters decide to show Newsom the door, it would mark the second successful gubernatorial recall in the state.

California voters previously recalled Democratic Gov. Gray Davis in 2003 and replaced him with Republican Arnold Schwarzenegger.

The last time the GOP secured victory in a statewide election contest in California was when Gov. Schwarzenegger won election in 2006, according to the Associated Press.

The recall election is slated for September 14.

Leftists MELT DOWN over Caitlyn Jenner’s GOP candidacy: 'Running as a Trump Republican & entering a world that hates you'

The less-than-favorable reaction to Caitlyn Jenner's bid for governor of California as a Republican has shown that leftists and so-called "transgender rights activist" care more about political party than actual transgender rights. Despite the fact that if she wins, Jenner would be the first trans governor in our nation's history — and prove that Republicans aren't 'transphobic' — Leftist activists would rather back Gavin Newsom — a cisgender, white male.

"Make no mistake: we can't wait to elect a #trans governor of California. But @Caitlyn_Jenner spent years telling the #LGBTQ+ community to trust Donald Trump. We saw how that turned out. Now she wants us to trust her? Hard pass," tweeted Equality California, one of the state's largest LGBTQ-rights groups.

"With all due respect, @Caitlyn_Jenner, you are running as a Republican?! Republicans deny your existence and are trying to erase trans youth. HELL NO," tweeted leftist activist and actress Alyssa Milano.

"Well done Caitlyn Jenner, running for governor wins you the one medal you never got: stupidest mother***ker on earth. Running as a Trump Republican & entering a world that hates you," tweeted "Sons of Anarchy" star Ron Perlman.

In this clip from the "Glenn Beck Radio Program," Glenn and producer Stu Burguiere discussed the Left's hostile reaction to Jenner's candidacy for California governor and agreed that leftist trans activists are showing themselves to be more "leftists" than "trans activists."

"If Caitlyn Jenner did, let's say, run for governor and win as a Republican, wouldn't that go a long way to advance what [trans rights activists'] goal supposedly is? Like, if you really believe Republicans hate trans people and what you want is for society to have trans people accepted more broadly, what better way to accomplish that than having a Republican trans candidate?" Stu asked.

"Yeah, see, but you just said the key words: 'If you really believe.' They don't really believe anything. I don't think they even really believe that Republicans hate gay people. I don't think they actually believe that. That's just a slogan that's been drilled in their head," Glenn said. "It doesn't have anything to do with race or gender, or really anything else. It has everything to do with politics. That's it."

Caitlyn Jenner is running for governor of California in recall election

Former Olympic decathlete, reality TV star, and transgender activist Caitlyn Jenner is running for governor of California.

"I'm in! California is worth fighting for," Jenner announced Friday.

Jenner, a Republican, will seek to replace Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) in a special election to recall the governor. Republican activists in California have gathered more than 2 million voter signatures to trigger a special election to recall the governor, which, according to KCRA-TV, political insiders in the state believe will be enough to overcome expected challenges declaring some signatures redundant or invalid.

Axios reported a team of prominent GOP consultants is lining up behind Jenner to run the campaign, including top Trump pollster Tony Fabrizio, RedRock Strategies founder Ryan Erwin, and Allegiance Strategies President Tyler Deaton. Steven Cheung, a former Trump communications aide who worked on former Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger's successful 2003 recall campaign, is also joining Jenner's team.

"Sacramento needs an honest leader with a clear vision," Jenner said in a statement to Axios. "For the past decade, we have seen the glimmer of the Golden State reduced by one-party rule that places politics over progress and special interests over people."

The statement blasted California's taxes as "too high" and criticized Newsom for an "over-restrictive lockdown" response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

"This is Gavin Newsom's California, where he orders us to stay home but goes out to dinner with his lobbyist friends," Jenner said.

According to Axios, Jenner will run as a "very socially liberal" candidate who is also "fiscally conservative." The campaign believes the reality TV star's name recognition in California is even greater than Newsom's and that the earned media attention from being the first serious transgender Republican candidate for governor in the state's history will boost the odds of victory.

Jenner will not run as a Trump Republican. In 2018, when Trump rescinded federal guidelines instructing schools to allow transgender students to use the bathrooms associated with their self-proclaimed gender identity, not their biological sex, Jenner criticized the president, writing, "my hope in him ... was misplaced."

"Certainly she has not seen eye-to-eye with [Trump] on a lot of things," an aide with the campaign told Axios. "I think that Caitlyn will talk to anyone, Democrat or Republican. Donald Trump is not going to be the deciding factor for the state of California."

A recall election in California has a two-step process. First, voters must answer a question regarding whether Gov. Newsom should be recalled. Voters are then asked a second question about who should succeed the governor if a majority says he should be recalled.

If a majority votes to recall the governor, then his successor is the candidate with the most votes on the second question, regardless of whether that candidate has a majority or not.

A poll of California voters released earlier this month found that only 40% of respondents said the governor should be recalled, putting the liklihood of Jenner or any candidate actually beating Newsom in doubt.
