DISTURBING: New Scientist article attempts to normalize cannibalism – 'Why can’t [bodies] be left to feed the hungry?'

Just when you think the world can’t possibly get any crazier, an article by New Scientist comes out claiming that we need to revisit the stigma surrounding cannibalism.

Yes, cannibalism — the practice of eating the flesh of one’s own species (and the subject of many horror films, we’ll add).

The article’s title alone is enough to send chills down your spine: “Is it time for a more subtle view on the ultimate taboo: Cannibalism?”

“This push to destigmatize everything is just a result of moral relativism,” the idea that “the only bad is saying something is bad,” says Allie Beth Stuckey, adding that this is just “godless rot.”

The article attempts to soften the horrors of cannibalism by citing “new archaeological evidence” suggesting that “ancient humans ate each other surprisingly often — sometimes for compassionate reasons.”

“It's one thing if you were able to read the old papyrus and it said, ‘We are eating each other surprisingly often,”’ laughs Allie. “Then I could see how you could deduce that ... but how is archeology showing you that?”

The text also stated that “ethically, cannibalism poses fewer issues than you might imagine. If a body can be bequeathed with consent to medical science, why can’t it be left to feed the hungry?”

It then went on to throw subtle shade on Western religion — “aka Christianity,” clarifies Allie.

“Perhaps it is down to the fact that, in Western religious traditions, bodies are seen as the seat of the soul and have a whiff of the sacred. Or maybe it is culturally ingrained, with roots in early modern colonialism, when racist stereotypes of the cannibal were concocted to justify subjugation.”

From there, the article only grew in its radicalism:

“Cannibalism is an important part of our story.”

“These discoveries invite us to reconsider our revulsion to cannibalism in the context of our evolutionary past.”

“Understanding its deep roots might shift our perspective on the few cultures that still practice cannibalism today.”

To hear Allie’s biblical take on the article, watch the clip below.

NBC News' attack on 'right-wing influencers' over claims about Haitian cannibalism kneecapped by stunning admission

Murderous Haitian gangsters have massacred countless unarmed civilians; freed thousands of convicted felons from jail; torched police stations; engaged in systematic rape; threatened genocide; seized control of the country's key port; besieged the airport in Port-au-Prince; and forced the failed nation's prime minister to resign.

Some commentators online have even suggested that among the thugs regarded by some American leftists as revolutionaries are killers who have developed a taste for more than rape, torture, and murder.

NBC News apparently wanted to rehabilitate the gangsters' reputation this week or at the very least kill the notion that those otherwise keen to burn people alive and stack bodies in the streets like cordwood might be cannibals. After all, the threat of cannibal gangs might engender a desire among Americans to prevent migrants from Haiti from continuing to illegally enter the United States.

The trouble with the liberal network's effort is that it contained the seed of its own undoing.

NBC Newspublished a report Wednesday claiming that South African billionaire Elon Musk and "right-wing pundits online are weaponizing unverified claims of cannibalism coming out of the conflict to advance a political agenda on immigration."

The thrust of the article is that conservative commentators have unfairly vilified those Haitian nationals who would steal into the U.S. — not by highlighting the crimes other illegal aliens from Haiti have committed on American soil and against citizens but by noting barbaric practices allegedly engaged in by some of their countrymen back home.

"Musk and conservative influencers have spread the message to millions, smearing Haitian migrants as cannibals," wrote NBC News tech reporter David Ingram.

A number of Haitian cannibalism claims online have been accompanied by a possibly real video from another recent rash of Haitian violence as well as a number of fake videos, including one taken from a Nigerian film set.

Ingram noted, "The cruelty of Haitian gang leaders is not in dispute, nor is the widespread killing in the country during a yearslong political crisis, but the false claims about widespread cannibalism go much further in trying to paint the whole Caribbean nation as barbarous."

Just four paragraphs into his article, however, Ingram admitted that the accusations of cannibalism were actually grounded in fact "on what experts said was a likely intimidation tactic from select gang members."

"In some videos, the most prominent examples being at least two years old, alleged members of violent gangs in Haiti appear to bite into human flesh," wrote Ingram. "Experts said these videos are likely part of propaganda campaigns designed to scare rivals and terrorize local Haitians rather than a reflection of common or normalized behavior. One former armed group went by the name 'Cannibal Army.'"

Ingram spoke to a moderator of the Haitian Subreddit who was similarly condemnatory of the cannibalism narrative, but even his outrage apparently centered on a recognition that the claims ultimately have merit.

"A whole population is getting blamed for what some psycho gang members are doing," said Chris Nestor, a Reddit moderator and a lawyer in Washington, D.C. "It is racist. It is dehumanizing."

Among the posts Ingram found vexing was one from podcast host Tim Pool, one from Malaysian commentator Ian Miles Cheong, and a handful from Musk.

Podcaster Tim Pool received a mention in the NBC News article for tweeting, "Look at Haiti[:] Murder, chaos, cannibalism."

Cheong wrote on March 6, "There are cannibal gangs in Haiti who abduct and eat people. We are not supposed to talk about that because of cultural relativism. The entire country has now entered a state of chaos after gangs attacked two prisons, setting many criminals free. 80% of Haitian capital of Port-au-Prince is now controlled by these gangs."

— (@)

Cheong doubled down days later, writing, "Haiti has collapsed. The President is no longer in the country. The ports are officially closed. Cannibal gangs are besieging the national palace in Port-au-prince."

"And now they want to import this into America," added Cheong.

Elon Musk replied to the Malaysian commentator, writing, "End of days. This is bleaker than Mad Max."

On March 12, Ingram wrote to Cheong concerning a video allegedly depicting a Haitian gangster eating human flesh, noting, "This video is two years old at least."

Cheong responded, "I guess cannibalism in Haiti isn't so bad if a video of it happening was taken two years ago. Haiti has a long, colorful history of cannibalism. In 2004, a gang called the Cannibal Army also called the Artibonite Resistance Front, seized control of Gonaives. And then they took over Port-au-Prince. I’m sure the name was just for show."

Musk managed to get deep under Ingram's skin with repeated cannibal claims.

"When people wonder 'how bad can it really get?', well it can get cannibal-gang bad," he wrote on Monday.

The Tesla CEO commented on a video about America's open borders, "Cannibal gangs."

After NBC News ran Ingram's piece, Musk wrote, "If wanting to screen immigrants for potential homicidal tendencies and cannibalism makes me 'right wing', then I would gladly accept such a label! Failure to do so would put innocent Americans in mortal risk. Shame on NBC. Shame, shame, shame."

"Objecting to rolling out the red (in more ways than one) carpet for homicidal cannibals seems like a reasonable position to me," added Musk.

Cannibalism is just one of many terror tactics that has been employed by Haitian gangs.

Last year, Jon Lee Anderson of the New Yorker interviewed Jimmy "Barbeque" Chérizier, the mass murderer sanctioned by U.N. and various Western nations for human rights abuses, who recently united various disparate gangs, threatened genocide, and took over Port-au-Prince. In the July article, Anderson noted that the practice of "necklacing," whereby victims are "yoked with tires doused in gasoline and set alight," has become "widespread in Haiti, as a growing array of gangs have taken up the methods of the Chimères."

Anderson noted that "it is not uncommon to see the bodies of people murdered by gang members and left in public as a warning to rivals. Some are charred after being set on fire. Others show signs of having been beaten or shot or hacked with machetes."

Elderly man's face bitten on Portland's Blue Line just days after 3-year-old pushed onto the tracks

An elderly man lost part of his face and a toddler came close to losing a great deal more in two separate attacks that occurred within a week of one another on the Metropolitan Area Express Blue Line in Portland, Oregon.

New year, same violent city

Korn Kraemer, 25, recently moved to Portland from the state of Georgia. According to police, Kraemer attacked a 78-year-old man on a MAX platform early Tuesday morning.

KPTV reported that the officers dispatched to Cleveland Station in the Portland suburb of Gresham around 2:17 a.m. found the suspect still lying atop and attacking the elderly man.

There was so much blood at the scene, police initially suspected the attack had been a stabbing.

But this was no mere stabbing. Police said that the suspect "had chewed off the victim's ear and part of his face. The injury was so severe that responders could see the victim's skull."

The victim was reportedly taken to a hospital, his condition unknown.

When officers detained the suspect, he identified himself as "El Baker." Only later, after booking him into the Multnomah County Jail on an assault charge, were they able to fingerprint and thereby identify the suspect as Kraemer.

TriMet, the transit provider behind the Blue Line, issued a statement, intimating that it is inevitable that the violence plaguing Portland would spill onto the transit system.

"What happens in the community will at times happen on or near the transit system. As we work to provide safety system-wide, across our 533 square-mile service district stretching across three counties, we also look to our partners for help addressing larger safety and community issues," said the statement. "Transit Police, which is led by Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office, work closely with other local law enforcement to investigate criminal activity that spills over onto the transit system and may have more."

KOIN reported that hours after the apparent cannibalistic attack, there was a report of more violence on the Blue Line; however, those involved managed to escape.

One Blue Line rider told KOIN, "I feel like they could do a little bit better with their security to make sure things like that don’t happen."

Richard Landers, another Blue Line rider, indicated that the commuting public could benefit from a "few more transit police security like that, patrolling around and telling people to behave."

Child sacrifice

It may have taken more than a simple request to practice good behavior to prevent 32-year-old Brianna Lace Workman from allegedly pushing a 3-year-old girl onto the tracks on Dec. 28.

According to the Multnomah County district attorney’s office, a mother and her child were waiting for a train at the Gateway Transit Center MAX platform in northeast Portland.

Workman allegedly shoved the child onto the metal rail below.

TriMet video surveillance captured the moment the suspect pushed the little girl, dressed in a pink coat, over the edge:

\u201cGraphic:\nOn Dec. 28 at the Gateway Transit Center in Portland, OR, a person shoved a toddler face first into the train tracks. The suspect was apprehended. Antifa & far-left activists in the city have argued against police patrolling public transport, saying it endangers people.\u201d

The little girl went head-first into the metal rail and rocks.

While Workman reseated herself after the attack, bystanders leaped into action. The bystanders rescued the little girl from the tracks before the next train pulled into the station.

According to the district attorney's office, the child survived, suffering a severe headache and a red mark on her forehead.

Workman was charged with attempted assault in the first degree, assault in the third degree, interfering with public transportation, disorderly conduct in the second degree, and recklessly endangering another person.

Michael Reed, a MAX rider, told KPTV, "That was really cruel. You know, like people just don't care anymore, they don't have respect."

Another rider, Blaine Danley, said, "There’s no excuse for that. Like I don’t understand why someone would do something like that — they belong in jail."

While such suspects may belong in jail, the likelihood of them ending up there is questionable.

Symptoms of a greater problem

TheBlaze previously reported how leftist Multnomah County District Attorney Mike Schmidt announced that hundreds of wife-beaters, sex offenders, burglars, drunk drivers, and berserkers of various intensity will not face justice in Oregon's most populous county. Schmidt, who made a name for himself by refusing to prosecute BLM rioters and other violent suspects, blamed the problem on a lack of public defenders.

Extra to a legal system unable or unwilling to put criminals in jail, Portland and the surrounding area are still reeling from the city's cuts to and vilification of police. The diminished effects of deterrence and responsiveness appear to have had a significant impact.

Portland's Democratic Mayor Ted Wheeler's office revealed this week that there were nearly four times more murders in 2022 than the city's 20-year-average, reported KOIN. Sgt. Kevin Allen said, "We've had another incredibly violent year in the city."

Extra to apparent cannibalistic attacks and unprovoked assaults on toddlers, the city saw a record 96 homicides and 1,300 shootings last year. Allen indicated that gangs remain a problem, but 34% of murders involved homeless individuals.

The Democrat-run city scores a three on Neighborhood Scout's crime index, where 100 is safest. The chances of becoming a victim of a violent crime are one in 187. In the Democrat-controlled state of Oregon, the odds are one in 342.

'Jeffrey Dahmer Special' display at Texas pizza joint sparks controversy

'Jeffrey Dahmer Special' display at Texas pizza joint sparks controversy

A Halloween display at one Lubbock, Texas, pizzeria has some people screaming — but not for the reasons the management had hoped.

Capital Pizza — which, according to its website, offers "hot, unique, & satisfying pies & sandwiches" — created a counter display entitled the "Jeffrey Dahmer Special," a gruesome-looking faux pie with toppings resembling eyeballs, fingers, intestines, and blood.

Jeffrey Dahmer was a notorious serial killer who dismembered and then consumed many of the bodies of his victims. Between 1978 and 1991, Dahmer murdered 17 men and underage boys, many of whom were black. He was convicted in 1992 and sentenced to life in prison. He was murdered by a fellow inmate in November 1994.

A recent Netflix series brought the story of Dahmer's heinous crimes back into the news. Between the Netflix series and the upcoming spooky holiday, one Capital Pizza server thought that a Dahmer-themed decoration might put people in the Halloween spirit. The "Jeffrey Dahmer Special" was then created for display purposes only. It is not a menu item and is not available for purchase.

Many customers have really enjoyed the display. According to an unnamed manager, people have come into the store just to see it in person. Some kids even want to have their picture taken with it.

Despite the enthusiasm expressed by some, the display has likewise left some customers and many social media users feeling sick to their stomachs.

"This is horrible! I am so tired of all of the 'celebration' over Dahmer," wrote one Facebook user. "I remember when all of that went down. I didn’t like it then and I am definitely not going to watch the Netflix series about him. Why would anyone want to put that in their minds? It is horrible that the families of Dahmer’s victims, have to have their bandages ripped off just so they can be reminded of what happened to their loved ones."

"Disgusting! People's minds are warped and twisted. Pray for them," another user commented on TMZ's Facebook page.

The store manager claimed that the display has been up for about three weeks. The restaurant intends to take it down after Halloween is over.

Michigan woman recounts 'horror movie' attack by savage 'cannibalistic rapist' who said she was a wolf and bit off friend's ear

A Michigan woman recounted a nightmarish attack that she likened to a "horror movie" during a court hearing on Wednesday. The brutal assault was committed by the victim's one-time friend – who allegedly bit off her ear and ate her cheek.

It started out as a friendly get-together

An unnamed 48-year-old woman invited Allison Thompson Weaver over to her home for some alcoholic beverages on Sept. 16, 2019. The two women were friends and former neighbors.

Weaver allegedly made sexual advances toward the homeowner, but she was not interested.

"She put the alcohol beverages that she brought – she put them down," the victim said, according to WDIV. "She came over to give me a hug because we hadn’t seen each other in a long time, and that’s when she proceeded to kiss me. She kissed me with an open mouth kiss, and my reaction was to just kind of laugh and brush it off and stop it."

The homeowner went to bed, but was reportedly awakened by a nude Weaver on top of her.

'My life changed forever'

"On Sept. 16, 2019, my life changed forever. I let Allison Thompson Weaver in my home, and in return, she tried to kill me. If the police hadn’t shown up when they did, from neighbors calling 9-1-1, I wouldn’t be here today," the victim told the courtroom during Weaver's hearing.

"(I remember) jumping off my bed and seeing Allison on all fours on my bed, and me standing there and she was on all fours giving me a really scary look," the anonymous woman said. "I was, like, 'Allison, Allison, what are you doing?' She just kept giving me this look with her head going back and forth. I was, like, 'What are you doing?' She just lunged at me, and she just started strangling me."

"I have some memories of the attack that night, like bits and pieces of a horror movie," the victim recalled. "First, of waking up in my own bed to find her in some animal-like crawling position, naked, ready to pounce on me. Her strangling me, the expression on her face, until I was unconscious."

She added, "I do remember seeing pure evil in her eyes, though, and I truly believe nothing can save her."

The 'cannibalistic rapist' told the victim: 'You have to die'

The victim told the judge that she has permanent nerve damage all over her body because Weaver had bitten her breasts, vagina, and face.

"She bit off my ear and literally consumed parts of me, like my cheek, for instance," she claimed. "The pain in my neck, shoulder, and back, even with physical therapy, is only getting worse. I have been trying to avoid more surgeries, if possible, than I’ve already had."

"The extreme pain I felt as I regained consciousness and could not move from being raped, beaten, and literally eaten alive from head to toe," the woman said. "I knew in my head what was happening to me, and I couldn’t do a thing about it."

"Then she whispered the words, 'You have to die.' I begged her, 'I'll do anything you want.' But she laughed and replied, 'It's too late,' and began strangling me again, a second time," the woman remembered. "This time, I saw my loved ones flash before my eyes. I saw a bright light, and I saw the end of my life. That’s all I remember until the hospital."

The victim said that the "hundreds" of photos of vicious bite marks all over her body "just begin to show what this cannibalistic rapist put me through, all the while with a smile on her face."

Assailant claimed to be a 'wolf' during sex attack

The brutal sex attack was heard by neighbors at the Lake Village Apartments in Rochester Hills. The resident informed police that he could hear a person moaning and begging for help.

Deputies from the Oakland County Sheriff's Office responded to the call at 1:23 a.m. on Sept. 17, 2019.

Deputies knocked on the front door of the victim's apartment, but nobody answered. They could hear a person wailing and calling for help. Police said they entered through an unlocked door and found the two women in a bedroom.

Sgt. Jason Dalbec of the Oakland County Sheriff's Office testified in 2019, "They saw the two women covered in blood. One was lying on the floor. Another was kneeling next to her, and they're both in this dazed and confused (state)."

Deputy Shawn Hopkins told the courtroom, "One was lying on her back on the floor, the other one was sitting up on her knees between the bed and the victim lying on the floor."

"(Weaver) seemed to be in a happy-type mood," Hopkins revealed. "She was having a good time. (The victim) was very quiet – almost appeared like she may have been in shock."

Hopkins added, "Ms. Weaver told me that they were having consensual sex and that (the victim) was a vampire and that Ms. Weaver was the wolf."

Hopkins said of the victim, "Other than the fact that she appeared to be covered in blood, I noticed a large wound to the side of her left eye area and cheek, and I also noticed that the outer edge of her left ear appeared to be missing. (The wound on her cheek) was approximately an inch in diameter. It appeared the flesh was completely gone like it had been removed from her face, possibly bitten off."

He noted, "I noticed the outer edge – the curve on the back side of her ear – appeared to be missing from just above the earlobe to up around the top part of the ear."

Deputies said Weaver was under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs. They found alcohol, marijuana packages, and prescription medications in the kitchen.

Weaver was taken into custody by the Oakland County Sheriff's Office deputies.

Dalbec remarked, "This is very unusual. This is one of those cases that will be once in a lifetime for deputies."

Surviving the 'horror movie' attack was a 'miracle'

The victim told the court, "No one knows why she chose me to be her victim that night. The doctors at the hospital said it was nothing short of a miracle that I survived that attack that night."

The victim stated, "Every hour of every day, I deal with excruciating pain because of what she did to me and the countless bite wounds."

"I'm learning to live with the pain and countless scars, as well as the countless stares I receive, but what is scaring me is the nonstop visions of her demon eyes killing me and the fact that she will try to do this again someday," she said.

Judge says 'horrific is not even the word' for the savage attack

Oakland County Judge Nanci Grant said the savage abuse that the victim suffered was more violent than murder cases.

"The victim started off her statement, 'It was like being in a horror movie,' and I wrote that down because when I reviewed the (pre-sentence investigation), I had to read it a few times because I couldn’t believe what I was reading," Grant said. "Then, when I talked to (the attorney) about it, the first thing out of his mouth was, ‘It was like reading a script for a horror movie.'"

"I can't even imagine what you were going through ... I've been up here for 25 years and I’ve seen murder cases that were not nearly as violent as this case," Grant declared. "I can’t imagine, psychologically, where you (Weaver) were in doing this to her, and the excuses that were made for it, and then this is the first time I saw the medical records in terms of all the wounds on her body and her face and her genitalia. ‘Horrific’ is not even the word for it.”

Weaver, 47, had been charged with second-degree criminal sexual conduct, assault with intent to do great bodily harm, assault with intent to maim, and assault by strangulation. On Wednesday, Weaver pleaded guilty to assault charges.

Judge Grant sentenced Weaver to 10-15 years in prison, and she must register as a sex offender.

Grant said of the sentence, "I think this is the correct resolution to this particular matter. I don’t think that these charges would ever have intended to reflect what actually happened here. These charges are not what was seen here. So in some ways, it’s a gift (for Weaver) what these charges are."

The victim reacted to the judge's sentence.

"I don’t think it’s fair that she has taken so much away from me that I can never get back," the woman told the judge. "She stole a part of me and she broke a part of me. She took away my sense of safety and trust, and so much more. Everything that this thing has done to me deserves more than 10-15 years behind bars. I will be living with these problems, pains, damages, and fears for the rest of my life."

Weaver told the court, "I would like to apologize to the victim and her family, and also to my family, as well. I do feel really, really horrible about what happened. I wish I could take it away."
