Disturbing video shows 'extremely intoxicated' Diddy brutally assaulting former girlfriend, LA DA says rapper won't be prosecuted

Disturbing video has surfaced of entertainment mogul Sean "Diddy" Combs brutally assaulting his former girlfriend at a California hotel in 2016. The Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office has issued a statement on the physical assault and declared that the rapper will not be prosecuted.

The troubling footage obtained and released by CNN shows Diddy grab, shove, drag, and kick his then-girlfriend, Cassie Ventura, at the now-closed InterContinental Hotel in Century City, Los Angeles. CNN verified the location of the alleged attack that was captured by the hotel's surveillance cameras on March 5, 2016.

The alarming video shows Ventura walking barefoot down a hotel hallway on her way to the elevator. Seconds later, Diddy is seen wearing only a towel sprinting down the same corridor.

Diddy is seen sneaking up on Ventura from behind and then smacking her in the back of the head and dragging her to the ground. He then kicks her while she is down.

The rapper grabs her bag and then stomps on her again. He grabs her by her jacket and drags her back toward his hotel room.

The Bad Boy Records founder walks back to the hotel room to drop off the bag, but then returns.

Ventura picks up a phone in the hallway near the elevators.

In the footage, Diddy appears to shove his then-girlfriend before hurling an object toward her.

The savage attack matches the allegations that Ventura made in a federal lawsuit that was filed in November 2023. In the suit, Ventura accused Combs of rape, sex trafficking, and domestic violence during their off-and-on relationship from 2007 to 2018.

Ventura alleged Combs "often punched, beat, kicked and stomped" her during their relationship, according to court filings.

The 37-page complaint read: "In or around March 2016, during an FO at the InterContinental Hotel in Century City, Los Angeles, Mr. Combs became extremely intoxicated and punched Ms. Ventura in the face, giving her a black eye."

"After he fell asleep, Ms. Ventura tried to leave the hotel room, but as she exited, Mr. Combs awoke and began screaming at Ms. Ventura. He followed her into the hallway of the hotel while yelling at her," the complaint continued. "He grabbed at her, and then took glass vases in the hallway and threw them at her, causing glass to crash around them as she ran to the elevator to escape."

Ventura reportedly was able to flee from Combs and leave the hotel in a cab. However, the lawsuit said that "upon realizing that her running away would cause Mr. Combs to be even angrier with her, and completely stuck in his vicious cycle of abuse, Ms. Ventura returned to the hotel with intention of apologizing for running away from her abuser."

When Ventura arrived back at the InterContinental Hotel, security staff purportedly "urged her to get back into a cab and go to her apartment, suggesting that they had seen the security footage" of Combs assaulting her, according to the lawsuit.

"Upon information and belief, Mr. Combs paid the InterContinental Century City $50,000 for the hallway security footage from that evening," the lawsuit claimed.

The lawsuit was settled after one day.

At the time of the settlement, Ventura said that she "decided to resolve this matter amicably on terms that I have some level of control."

Diddy said at the time, "We have decided to resolve this matter amicably. I wish Cassie and her family all the best. Love."

Combs – a vocal supporter of the Democratic Party – has consistently denied the assault accusations.

Douglas H. Wigdor, Ventura's lawyer, issued a statement in response to the newly-released video: "The gut-wrenching video has only further confirmed the disturbing and predatory behavior of Mr. Combs. Words cannot express the courage and fortitude that Ms. Ventura has shown in coming forward to bring this to light."

Ventura's husband, model Alex Fine, posted a statement on Instagram on Friday that did not mention Diddy by name, "Men who hit women aren't men. Men who enable it and protect these people aren’t men."

Fine added, "To the abusers, you’re done, you’re not safe anymore, you’re not protected anymore and the men by your side are just as weak, you’re so miserable with yourself that d**th would be considered a kindness."

The Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office has put out a statement declaring that the assault will not be prosecuted.

"We are aware of the video that has been circulating online allegedly depicting Sean Combs assaulting a young woman in Los Angeles," the statement began. "We find the images extremely disturbing and difficult to watch."

The L.A. DA's office continued, "If the conduct depicted occurred in 2016, unfortunately we would be unable to charge as the conduct would have occurred beyond the timeline where a crime of assault can be prosecuted."

Under California state law, the statute of limitations for simple assault is one year and three years for felony assault.

The statement concluded, "As of today, law enforcement has not presented a case related to the attack depicted in the video against Mr. Combs, but we encourage anyone who has been a victim or witness to a crime to report it to law enforcement or reach out to our office for support from our Bureau of Victims Service."

Ben Savage of 'Boy Meets World' fame plans congressional bid in Rep. Adam Schiff's district, FEC filing indicates

A filing with the Federal Election Commission indicates that Ben Savage plans to run as a Democrat for U.S. Congress in California's 30th Congressional District, which is currently occupied by Rep. Adam Schiff.

Savage is widely known for starring in the TV show "Boy Meets World," which aired from 1993-2000 — he also played the character of Cory Matthews again years later in the show "Girl Meets World."

"Acting and politics are almost too similar. I don’t know…You have to be a very specific breed to do that," Savage told Rolling Stone in a 2014 interview.

Savage ran unsuccessfully for West Hollywood City Council last year, coming in seventh place. "I have lived in West Hollywood for 18 years and look forward to raising a family in this historic community where diversity and differences are valued and celebrated," benforweho.com noted. "I am not part of a political machine. I'm a longtime resident who believes West Hollywood deserves leaders who are more concerned with delivering results than serving interest groups or political ambitions. Our community is facing serious challenges around public safety, struggling businesses, the cost of housing, and homelessness. We need new leaders with a fresh perspective who are ready to begin tackling these issues."

Schiff, who has served in the House for more than two decades, has said that he will seriously consider a U.S. Senate bid if Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) retires.

Feinstein, who will turn 90 later this year, has served in the U.S. Senate for just over three decades — her current term ends in early 2025, and she has not announced whether she will seek reelection.

New White House press secretary dodges question about abortion as Biden prepares to overturn Trump abortion policy

The press secretary for President Joe Biden dodged a question about the administration's stance on taxpayer-funded abortions. New White House press secretary Jen Psaki instead took the opportunity to tell reporters that Biden attended "church this morning."

Owen Jensen, a correspondent for the Eternal Word Television Network, asked the press secretary about the Biden administration's plan on the Hyde Amendment and the Mexico City Policy.

"Well, I think we'll have more to say on the Mexico City policy in the coming days," Psaki told the EWTN correspondent on Wednesday, before shifting to highlighting Biden's faith.

"But I will just take the opportunity to remind all of you that he [Biden] is a devout Catholic, and somebody who attends church regularly," Psaki digressed. "He started his day attending church with his family this morning, but I don't have anything more for you on that."

The Mexico City Policy, which is referred to as the "Global Gag Rule" by pro-abortion groups, bans federal funding of foreign nongovernmental organizations that promote or perform abortions, such as the International Planned Parenthood Federation. The U.S. government policy was first announced by the Reagan administration in 1984 at the International Conference on Population in Mexico City, Mexico.

A 2019 report published in the Lancet claimed that the Mexico City policy increased the abortion rate in some countries by as much as 40%.

Since 1993, Democratic and Republican presidents have taken turns rescinding and reinstating the Mexico City policy. Most recently, former President Donald Trump brought the legislation back to life in January 2017. Trump expanded the Mexico City policy by adding "Protecting Life in Global Health Assistance," a "directive that no U.S. taxpayer money should support foreign organizations that perform or actively promote abortion as a method of family planning in other nations."

Dr. Anthony Fauci, Biden's chief medical adviser, said Thursday that the new administration will revoke the Mexico City policy. In a prepared statement to the World Health Organization's executive board, Fauci said the Biden administration is overturning the policy "as part of his broader commitment to protect women's health and advance gender equality at home and around the world."

For decades, Biden supported the Hyde Amendment before reversing his position during his Democratic primary campaign. The Hyde Amendment, which was enacted in 1976, blocks federal funds from being used to pay for abortions, except to save the life of a woman, or in pregnancies from incest or rape.

During a Democratic presidential primary debate in July 2019, Vice President Kamala Harris challenged Biden for supporting the Hyde Amendment for years.

Harris grilled Biden for flip-flopping on his Hyde Amendment position, "On the Hyde Amendment, Vice President, where you made a decision for years to withhold resources to poor women to have access to reproductive health care, including women who were the victims of rape and incest, do you now say that you have evolved and you regret that?"

"Only since you've been running for president this time, said that you in some way would take that back or you didn't agree with that decision you made over many, many years, and this directly impacted so many women in our country," Harris told Biden.

During the debate in Detroit, Biden defended himself against his now-vice president.

"Once I wrote the legislation making sure that every single woman would in fact have an opportunity to have health care paid for by the federal government — everyone — that could no longer stand," Biden said of the Hyde Amendment. "I support a woman's right to choose. I support it as a constitutional right. I've supported it, I will continue to support it and I in fact will move as president to see to that the Congress legislates that that is the law."

The official Biden campaign website states, "Vice President Biden supports repealing the Hyde Amendment because health care is a right that should not be dependent on one's zip code or income. And, the public option will cover contraception and a woman's constitutional right under Roe v. Wade."

The website also says that President Biden will "rescind the Mexico City Policy that President Trump reinstated and expanded."
