'Use my daughter as an example': Trump DHS cheers as bill to stop illegal alien truck drivers crosses major hurdle

The Department of Homeland Security is cheering after a federal bill aimed at improving trucking safety crossed a major hurdle.

On Wednesday, the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure approved Dalilah's Law, a bill that bans states from issuing commercial driver's licenses to illegal aliens and limits issuance to U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents, and holders of specific work visas. The legislation also requires the revocation of any existing ineligible CDLs.

Additionally, the bill mandates that testing and recertification be conducted only in English. States that do not comply may face withholding of federal highway funds.

Dalilah's Law was named after Dalilah Coleman, a child who sustained critical and life-altering injuries at 5 years old as a result of a 2024 multi-car wreck in California caused by an illegal alien truck driver.

The illegal alien driver, Partap Singh, was issued a CDL by California's Department of Motor Vehicles. Immigration and Customs Enforcement arrested Singh in August.

The DHS, which announced its support for the proposed bill in February, applauded the House committee for approving the legislation on March 18.

"I am so grateful that the House Republicans passed Dalilah's Law out of [the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee] today," DHS Secretary Kristi Noem stated. "What happened to Dalilah Coleman is a tragedy that could have been PREVENTED if California had not granted commercial driver's licenses to illegal aliens who should have never been here in the first place. Under President Trump's leadership, we have worked to deliver justice for the families impacted by illegal alien crime and have ensured that the tragedies they endured will no longer continue."

The DHS shared a video of Dalilah and her father, Marcus.

Marcus Coleman explained that he learned the truck driver was an illegal alien almost a year after the accident occurred.

"As a truck driver myself, I think illegal aliens operating trucks on American roadways is a hazard to American citizens. ... When you take the keys to the truck, you're taking the keys to everybody else's life that you're encountering that day," Coleman stated.

When people "see a truck, they assume that you know what you're doing," Coleman continued. "And I think now that's not true anymore."

"Use my daughter as an example as to what the consequences are. ... I wanted you guys to see firsthand the consequences of even just one driver getting by because it's devastating," he added.

In September, ICE and Oklahoma law enforcement agents conducted a three-day operation along the I-40 that resulted in the arrests of 91 illegal alien truck drivers.

As part of that operation, ICE captured Anmol Anmol, an illegal alien from India who illegally entered the U.S. in 2023. Anmol was issued a CDL that read "No Name Given Anmol."

Another 146 illegal alien truckers were arrested in October as a result of an operation between the DHS and Indiana State Police.

Akhror Bozorov, a 31-year-old illegal alien from Uzbekistan, was arrested by federal agents in November. The truck driver was wanted in his home country since 2022 for allegedly being a member of a terrorist organization.

End of the road: 200,000 foreign truckers could lose their CDLs as Trump’s rule takes effect

Approximately 200,000 foreign truck drivers will no longer be able to renew their commercial driver’s licenses following the Department of Transportation’s final rule that took effect on Monday.

The DOT’s Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration announced the final rule, “Restoring Integrity to the Issuance of Non-Domiciled Commercial Drivers Licenses,” in February to prevent “unqualified foreign drivers” from operating big rigs and buses on American roadways.

A press release from the FMCSA noted that in 2025, non-domiciled drivers caused 17 fatal crashes and 30 deaths.

The announcement followed a nationwide audit that found “systemic non-compliance” in the issuance of non-domiciled CDLs in several states.

The final rule’s key provisions include limiting non-domiciled CDLs to foreign nationals with H-2A, H-2B, and E-2 visas. It also terminated Employment Authorization Documents as acceptable proof of eligibility. Additionally, it required state licensing agencies to verify the eligibility of foreign nationals through the Systematic Alien Verification for Entitlements system.

Therefore, Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals recipients, asylum seekers, Temporary Protected Status holders, and those relying solely on work authorization documents are no longer eligible to obtain a CDL.

Foreign nationals who no longer meet these qualifications may continue to drive as long as their current license remains valid. However, they will not be able to renew their licenses once they expire.

The Washington Post estimated that the final rule, which took effect on Monday, will impact about 200,000 CDL holders.

“For far too long, America has allowed dangerous foreign drivers to abuse our truck licensing systems — wreaking havoc on our roadways. This safety loophole ends today,” Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy stated during February’s announcement of the final rule. “Moving forward, unqualified foreign drivers will be unable to get a license to operate an 80,000-pound big rig. Under President Trump’s leadership, we are putting the safety of the driving public first. From enforcing English language standards to holding fraudulent carriers accountable, we will continue to attack this crisis on our roads head on.”

‘Wild, Wild West’: Trump DOT moves to shut down 550+ ‘sham’ truck driver training schools after axing 6,500

The Department of Transportation has moved to shut down another 550 commercial driver's license schools amid a new focus on crashes involving foreign nationals with U.S. non-domiciled CDLs.

The DOT announced on February 18 that it discovered the "sham CDL training schools" violated the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration's safety standards. The agency issued notices of proposed removal from the FMCSA's national training provider registry.

The DOT found that some noncompliant schools used fictitious addresses and employed unqualified instructors who lacked the necessary licenses and permits for the vehicles they were teaching students to drive. In other cases, these schools provided training with vehicles that were not appropriate for the instruction being offered. Some training providers even admitted to investigators that they failed to meet their state's requirements.

FMCSA Administrator Derek Barrs said, "If a school isn't using the right vehicles or if their instructors aren't qualified, they have no business training the next generation of truckers or school bus drivers."

One of the schools on the DOT's proposed removal list reportedly provided training to school bus drivers.

The DOT informed Blaze News that these schools have not yet been closed, as they are still within the 30-day period to either provide evidence of compliance with federal safety standards or indicate their intention to complete the corrective actions specified by the FMCSA. However, the agency stated that it has already closed 6,500 CDL training schools.

The findings resulted from the FMCSA mobilizing over 300 investigators and conducting more than 1,400 on-site sting operations over five days. While 448 schools were issued a notice of proposed removal, 109 training providers voluntarily removed themselves from the FMCSA's Training Provider Registry.

An additional 97 training schools remain under investigation for similar alleged violations.

‘Shady carriers hiring illegals’: Sen. Banks launches trucking tip line after 4 Amish men die in crash

Sen. Jim Banks (R-Ind.) unveiled the TruckSafe Tipline on Tuesday, which allows those who work in the trucking industry to report carriers that may be breaking federal laws.

“If you’re a trucker or work in the industry and see something unsafe or know of shady carriers hiring illegals, I want to hear from you,” Banks wrote in a post on social media.

'The TruckSafe Tipline gives people on the ground a way to speak up when they see carriers cutting corners and putting lives at risk.'

The reporting system encourages truckers to submit a form if they believe a carrier has employed or contracted drivers who are illegally in the U.S., who are not authorized to drive, or who do not meet the English-language proficiency requirements.

Banks’ office will share the submitted tips with the Department of Transportation and its Office of Inspector General.

“Indiana is the Crossroads of America and Hoosiers are getting killed because drivers who shouldn’t be here in the first place are behind the wheel. If you’re driving a truck on our roads, you need to be legal, you need to be able to read traffic signs, and you need to follow the law. The TruckSafe Tipline gives people on the ground a way to speak up when they see carriers cutting corners and putting lives at risk,” Banks stated.

The tip line was launched following a semi-truck crash in Indiana last week that resulted in the deaths of four Amish men, including a father and two sons.

The driver of the truck, Bekzhan Beishekeev, a 30-year-old Kyrgyzstani national who obtained his commercial driver’s license in Pennsylvania despite allegedly residing in the U.S. illegally, was accused of swerving into oncoming traffic and striking a 15-passenger van head-on.

Beishekeev is in the custody of Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

Banks’ office noted that the DOT’s Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration is investigating the carrier that employed Beishekeev as well as several other companies.

“These interconnected carriers have all the markings of FRAUD and are accused of being CHAMELEON CARRIERS. This is when companies swap names and DOT numbers to avoid enforcement,” DOT Secretary Sean Duffy stated. “The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration is working AROUND THE CLOCK to hold anyone involved in this horrific crime accountable.”

Trucker accused of killing 4 Amish men — and DHS claims he's an 'illegal alien'

A Kyrgyzstani semi-truck driver is in Immigration and Customs Enforcement custody following a collision that caused the death of multiple individuals.

Around 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Bekzhan Beishekeev, 30, was driving east on State Road 67 in Indiana when his truck collided head-on with a van, killing four of the vehicle's occupants.

'Beishekeev illegally came to the United States using the Biden administration's disastrous CBP One app and was released into the United States.'

Beishekeev was accused of failing to slow down for another semi-truck in front of him and swerving into oncoming traffic.

The collision killed Henry Eicher, 50; his two sons, Menno Eicher, 25, and Paul Eicher, 19; and a family friend, Simon Girod, 23, FreightWaves reported. The men belonged to Bryant, Indiana's Amish community. The van's driver, Donald Stipp, 55, reportedly underwent surgery and is in stable condition.

The Department of Homeland Security, which referred to Beishekeev as an "illegal alien," stated that the truck driver crashed into a van "carrying up to 15 passengers."

Department of Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy stated on Thursday that the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration was conducting an on-site investigation of the carrier that hired Beishekeev.

"There MUST be accountability for the community of Bryant, Indiana, who are devastated by the loss of their loved ones," Duffy declared. "I will continue to demand we shine a spotlight on these preventable tragedies and pray for the beautiful Amish community."

Beishekeev is a resident of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, according to the Indiana State Police. He entered the United States on December 19, 2024, in Nogales, Arizona, by using the Biden administration CBP One cellphone app.

"Beishekeev illegally came to the United States using the Biden administration's disastrous CBP One app and was released into the United States. Even worse, Josh Shapiro's Pennsylvania issued him a commercial driver's license," the DHS wrote. "Sanctuary politicians must STOP issuing commercial driver's licenses to illegal aliens before another American is killed."

Gov. Shapiro argued that Beishekeev had legal status.

“Every person who applies for a non-domiciled commercial driver’s license issued by PennDOT must provide proof of identify and proof of their legal presence in the United States. That information is verified by the federal Systematic Alien Verification for Entitlements (SAVE) database, administered by Kristi Noem and the United States Department of Homeland Security,” a spokesperson for Shapiro told Fox News.

"The individual in question had legal status in Kristi Noem’s database when the license was issued in July 2025 and still shows as eligible to receive a license as of today. Kristi Noem should focus on minding the shop in her own agency, as her incompetence and operational failures seem to be matching the scale of her moral failures as the Secretary of Homeland Security," the spokesperson added.

'Do it NATIONWIDE!' Florida mandates English-only driver’s tests, following Trump's lead

Florida announced on Friday that all driver's license tests will be conducted in English. This decision comes after President Trump signed an executive order nearly a year ago declaring English the official language of the United States.

The Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles declared that the state is taking "a leading role in highway safety by requiring all driver license exams be taken in English and without an interpreter."

'There is no better way for a state to test for trucker English proficiency than to administer the CDL knowledge and skills tests in, well, English.'

The new policy, which will apply to knowledge and skills exams for all driver's license classifications, will take effect on February 6.

The FLHSMV explained that the previous policy allowed knowledge exams for most non-commercial driver's licenses to be offered in multiple languages. Knowledge exams for commercial learner's permits and commercial driver's licenses have been offered in English and Spanish.

"To implement this change, FLHSMV has updated its driver license testing system statewide. Language translation services will no longer be permitted for knowledge or skills examinations, and any printed exams in languages other than English will be removed for use," the department stated. "FLHSMV remains committed to ensuring safe roadways for all Floridians and visitors by promoting clear communication, understanding of traffic laws, and responsible driving behavior."

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) called the new policy a “good reform,” noting that drivers “need to be able to read the road signs.”

Eric Daugherty of Florida's Voice declared the move "a massive win."

"English. Do it NATIONWIDE!" Daugherty wrote. "Florida does it right."

The Small Business in Transportation Coalition applauded Florida for implementing the English-only testing policy.

"Like most things in life, we need to start with common sense. There is no better way for a state to test for trucker English proficiency than to administer the CDL knowledge and skills tests in, well, English. In the state of Florida, at least, common sense will now prevail effective February 6th. We hope other states will follow," SBTC Executive Director James Lamb stated.

This new policy follows an executive order Trump issued last March, declaring English to be the official language of the federal government.

"To promote unity, cultivate a shared American culture for all citizens, ensure consistency in government operations, and create a pathway to civic engagement, it is in America’s best interest for the Federal Government to designate one — and only one — official language. Establishing English as the official language will not only streamline communication but also reinforce shared national values and create a more cohesive and efficient society," the EO said.

Exclusive: GOP lawmaker seeks crackdown on illegal trucker licenses to end 'preventable' deaths

Republican Rep. Andy Biggs of Arizona is proposing new legislation to crack down on illegal aliens obtaining commercial driver's licenses.

Americans have witnessed many preventable deaths inflicted by illegal alien truck drivers who often obtained CDLs in blue states that seemingly ignore citizenship or work requirements. The tragic death toll was exacerbated by former President Joe Biden's administration, which allowed millions of illegal aliens to flood the country within a span of just four years.

'They gamble with American lives.'

Biggs believes the VERIFY CDL Act will help prevent similar tragedies in the future.

"American citizens should not have to worry that Joe Biden and Kamala Harris’ border failures are showing up on our highways," Biggs told Blaze News. "When millions of unvetted, unknown illegal aliens were allowed into the country — which is exactly what the Biden regime turned a blind eye to — the federal government created serious public safety risks far beyond the border."

"Until every illegal alien is deported by President Trump’s hard work, Congress has a responsibility to close dangerous loopholes. My VERIFY CDL Act ensures commercial driver’s licenses are issued only to individuals legally authorized to work in the United States.”

Biggs' legislation would look to change that. According to the bill text obtained exclusively by Blaze News, the VERIFY CDL Act would require applicants' employment to be authorized through the E-Verify program before they can be issued a CDL, adding additional safeguards and closing a highly abused loophole.

"Operating a commercial vehicle is not a right — it is a serious responsibility," Biggs told Blaze News. "When states issue CDLs without verifying work authorization, they gamble with American lives. My bill puts an end to that recklessness."

"If you are legally authorized to work in the United States, E-Verify confirms it," Biggs said. "If you are not, you do not get behind the wheel of a 40-ton vehicle."

Biggs noted that mass immigration is not limited to the border, but rather it needs to be addressed at every level, including CDLs.

"It's not complicated," Biggs said. "We have seen what happens when verification fails — preventable deaths, broken families, and a system that has lost its integrity."

"One preventable death is one too many," Biggs added. "Congress has a duty to act, and this bill does exactly that."

Illegal alien truckers with California licenses accused of hauling $7M in cocaine across state lines

Two illegal alien truck drivers who obtained commercial driver's licenses from California are accused of smuggling $7 million worth of cocaine across the Midwest.

'Sanctuary policies put American lives at risk.'

Immigration and Customs Enforcement on Sunday lodged detainers against 25-year-old Gurpreet Singh and 30-year-old Jasveer Singh after local authorities arrested the two Indian nationals in Putnam County, Indiana.

The men were driving a semitruck along I-70 when an Indiana State Police trooper pulled them over for a routine traffic stop on Saturday, according to local reports.

The trooper's K-9 unit gave a positive alert, prompting the officer to conduct a more thorough search of the truck. The trooper allegedly discovered 309 pounds of cocaine hidden in the truck's sleeper berth.

The men were reportedly traveling from Joplin, Missouri, to Richmond, Indiana.

They were charged with a Level 2 felony of dealing narcotics.

The Department of Homeland Security reported that the men were allegedly smuggling enough drugs to kill over 113,000 Americans.

Gurpreet Singh illegally entered the U.S. in March 2023 and was released into the country by the Biden administration. The DHS reported that he admitted to law enforcement that he was illegally in the U.S.

Jasveer Singh illegally entered the country in March 2017. He was arrested in San Bernardino, California, in December for allegedly receiving stolen property. ICE placed a detainer against him, but California did not honor it, and he was released from local custody.

The DHS blamed California Democrat Governor Gavin Newsom's policies for allowing the illegal aliens to obtain CDLs amid growing concerns about the surge of unqualified foreign nationals in the American trucking industry. Newsom's office has repeatedly rebutted these criticisms by claiming that California's CDLs for foreign nationals are issued in compliance with federal guidelines, based on work authorization documents provided by the U.S. government.

"Thanks to Gavin Newsom's reckless policies, these two criminal illegal aliens were granted commercial driver's licenses by the state of California and were arrested for trafficking a whopping 300 pounds of cocaine inside a semi-truck," DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin stated. "Gavin Newsom and his fellow sanctuary politicians even refused to honor an arrest detainer on one of these criminal illegal aliens in December. Sanctuary policies put American lives at risk. ICE law enforcement lodged arrest detainers to ensure these drug traffickers are not allowed back into American communities."
