Liberal cities DESTROYED by WOKE policies

Walmart recently announced the closure of four Chicago stores that became effective on April 16. Why?

Because people in those areas have been stealing an alarming amount of stuff off the shelves. However, some don’t see it that way.

One shopper has implied that the closures are perhaps due to Walmart not wanting to “serve black and brown communities because of racism,” while outgoing Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot has alleged that it’s because of “retailers that won’t institute plans like having security officers in their stores” and “making sure that they’ve got cameras that are actually operational.”

Lauren Chen of "Pseudo-Intellectual" has a different opinion.

She says, “It’s not racism that’s causing Walmart to close, and it’s not Walmart’s lack of security either that’s at fault here. It is squarely the fault of the politicians who’ve essentially made it impossible for stores to thrive because they refuse to punish criminals.”

She adds that it “seems like every other day social media is flooded with videos of people in some big Democrat city,” looting their local Walmarts or Targets as if they’re “an all-you-can-steal buffet.”

Large retailers like Walmart depend on a high volume of goods being sold because their margins are so low — which leaves them uniquely vulnerable to theft.

Chen hammers home her point: that it’s not directly the fault of the people or the retailer, but of the politicians and community leaders who refuse to prosecute criminals.

Chen says that the “neighborhoods in Chicago are essentially lawless hellholes, where people steal whatever they want — absolutely no fear for repercussions — and instead of trying to address this issue of crime, these community leaders in Chicago instead are just mad at Walmart.”

Teens attack woman in Chicago: The new Gotham City

Over the weekend, a mob of black youths took to the streets in Chicago to terrorize the residents of the city.

The youths called it a “teen takeover,” and a group of them were caught on video swarming and then beating a young white woman for no apparent reason.

Keith Malinak of "Pat Gray Unleashed" says it's the “third world-ification of America,” and it's happening right before our eyes.

He compares it to "Grand Theft Auto," saying that it’s “literally all that these big cities are anymore.”

Despite the video evidence depicting clear footage of the attack, no arrests have been made.

Malinak points out that the mayor-elect, Brandon Johnson, or as he calls him, “the guy in Chicago replacing Beetlejuice,” had a less than appropriate response.

Johnson’s response went as follows: “It is not constructive to demonize youth who have otherwise been starved of opportunities in their communities. Our city must work together to create spaces for youth to gather safely and responsibly ... under adult guidance and supervision to ensure that every part of our city remains welcome for both residents and visitors.”

“Chicago, you’re screwed, and you’re not coming back,” Malinak responds.

Gray adds his two cents.

“People are sick and tired of crime, and they’re sick and tired of Democrats not doing anything about it — in fact doing the opposite. And that’s letting criminals get back on the street and commit crime again.”

Video: Hundreds of teens flood Chicago, cars smashed, driver attacked, 2 teenagers shot

Hundreds of teenagers flooded into the streets of Chicago on Saturday night. In response to the chaos, hundreds of police officers were dispatched to the downtown area after there several cars were damaged by the teenagers.

Around 8 p.m., the mob of teens attempted to storm into Millennium Park. However, people under 21 are not allowed access to the park without being accompanied by an adult.

The horde of teens forced police to escort tourists and locals back to their cars at the Millennium Park garage.

Teens also reportedly attempted to force their way inside the Art Institute of Chicago in an attempted "teen takeover."

Officers from the Chicago Police Department, Chicago Fire Department, EMS, and SWAT teams were dispatched to the area.

Rowdy teens smashed the windows of several cars by jumping on the vehicles – including a police cruiser.

Video shows a vehicle being set on fire.

A man sitting in the driver's seat of his car was injured and taken to the Northwestern Memorial Hospital after a group of teens beat him as they smashed his vehicle.

WFLD reported that gunfire erupted near the crowds at the corner of Madison and Michigan. Two teenagers were shot. The teens, ages 16 and 17, were shot and rushed to the Northwestern Memorial Hospital. Both boys are said to be in fair condition with gunshot wounds.

A witness told WMAQ-TV, "It's heartbreaking, kids fighting, chasing each other, some of them got guns. It's really heartbreaking when one of them actually gets hurt, and that’s unfortunate, happened last night."

CBS News reported that "multiple teens" were arrested – all were under the age of 18.

The Chicago Police Department said in a statement, "Last night, CPD monitored activity happening across the city and officers were in place to quickly respond to active incidents and large gatherings. We will continue to have sufficient resources in place as we work to strengthen safety in every neighborhood."

This was the second night of a crowd of teens taking over Chicago. On Friday night, a mob of teenagers gathered at the 31st Street Beach on Friday night. A 14-year-old boy was shot near the crowds.

WLS-TV reported that at least 29 people had been shot, six fatally, in weekend violence in Chicago.

Former Chicago high school basketball star murdered outside her home: 'She always did the right thing'

Dyanla "DeDe" Rainey, who won the Illinois girls high school state basketball championship alongside her twin sister Miyanda back in 2018, was gunned down on her driveway on Sunday afternoon and later died at the hospital. She was just 22 years old.

DeDe's sister-in-law, Crystal Rainey, described the horrific shooting.

“She was getting ready to get out of her car on the driveway on the side of the house, and a man hopped out of a vehicle and shot a few rounds into her car,” Crystal Rainey said. “She was hit three times in her back.”

According to Crystal, DeDe's mother Margot Rainey was sitting in her own car just beyond DeDe's driveway and witnessed her daughter's murder.

“Margo was pulling up behind her and saw it all go down,” Crystal said. “DeDe got out of the car and ran to her.”

Police say they received a call about shots fired in a neighborhood in Maywood, Illinois, just outside Chicago, about 2 p.m. on Sunday. When they arrived at the scene, they found DeDe on the ground, facedown and unresponsive. They immediately began administering emergency care before transporting her to Loyola Medical University Hospital, where she later died.

DeDe and twin sister Miyanda, aka "MeMe," were members of the Marshall Metropolitan High School girls basketball team, which won the Class 2A state title back in 2018. DeDe scored 20 points in the championship game, despite the fact that she had a sprained ankle and fluid in her lungs.

Her former coach, Dorothy Gaters, remembers DeDe fondly.

“She always did the right thing,” Gaters said. “Whatever you asked, she would do it the right way. Some kids always find ways to cheat. That wasn’t her.”

“She had a sprained ankle a few days before the game and was having trouble breathing during it,” Gaters added. “I had to take her out but she came to me and wanted back in, said her team needed her. The next day when we were back in Chicago she went to the hospital with fluid in her lungs.”

Since DeDe's passing, many friends and family members have shared their grief and their memories of DeDe on Facebook.

"Whewww WHAT AM I TO DO NOW? Lost for words ain’t even it Slime ," twin sister MeMe wrote. "I feel like a lost soul I feel like I’m here by myself!! What’s next for me cause I swear I don’t want do it without you!!!! My Ace when you seen DeDe you seen MeMe I never got the chance to be a Auntie to your kids and you never got the chance to be one to mine but know IM STANDING ON BUSINESS ABOUT YOU I love you forever my 5lifer "

DeDe and MeMe had already begun their own child care business. DeDe had also thought about going back to school. Her murder is still under investigation.

“DeDe was just in the wrong place at the wrong time,” Crystal Rainey said. “We don’t know if they mistook her for someone else.”

Active shooting situation at 4th of July parade in Highland Park, Illinois leaves at least 5 dead, 16 injured

A mass shooting at a Fourth of July parade in Highland Park, Illinois on Monday has left at least five people dead and 16 more injured, officials said.

Police are urging the public to stay away from the downtown area of the suburb, which sits north of Chicago, as they conduct a manhunt for the shooter.

The shooting happened a little after 10 a.m. local time, WMAQ-TV reports. The Lake County Sheriff's office and other law enforcement departments are assisting Highland Park Police with the shooting response.

"STAY OUT OF THE AREA — allow law-enforcement and first responders to do their work," the sheriff's office tweeted.

Illinois State Police said the shooting situation is "active."

"The Illinois State Police is currently assisting Highland Park PD with an active shoot situation that occurred at the Highland Park Parade," the state police said.

"Highland Park Police are responding to an active shooter incident that occurred in downtown Highland Park during the 4th of July parade," the city of Highland Park said in a statement. "This is an active incident. All individuals are advised to shelter in place. Law enforcement agencies are searching for the suspect; evidence of a firearm has been recovered. Numerous law enforcement officers are responding and have secured a perimeter around downtown Highland Park. 16 people have been transferred to the hospital; 5 individuals are confirmed deceased."

Witnesses told local news station WMAQ that parade spectators thought the sound of gunfire was part of the parade at first.

"You heard like a 'pop, pop, pop,' and I think everybody kinda thought maybe it was a display on one of the floats, and then it just opened up," witness Larry Bloom said.

"I was screaming and people were screaming," he said. "They were panicking and they were just scattering and I, you know, we didn't know. You know, it was right on top of us."

The rest of the Fourth of July festivities in Highland Park have been canceled as police continue the search for the shooter, the city of Highland Park said.

The neighboring city of Evanston has also canceled their holiday celebrations.

"Due to a tragic mass shooting that took place earlier this morning in Highland Park, the City of Evanston will be canceling this year’s 4th of July Parade and celebrations effective immediately," city officials said.

The mass shooting follows a violent holiday weekend in Chicago. At least 54 people had been shot, seven fatally, as of Monday morning.

Chicago police attacked with fireworks in violent 4th of July weekend; 54 shot, 7 killed by gunfire

Violent groups attacked Chicago police vehicles in at least two incidents over the holiday weekend, injuring one officer.

In the first incident on Saturday night, a rowdy crowd attacked Chicago police squad cars. The crowd kicked the vehicle doors, jumped on the hoods, and punched the windshields, according to WBBM-TV.

Chicago police said an officer was traveling in a marked patrol car in the area when an object struck the vehicle, shattering the windshield. The officer was taken to a local hospital and treated for minor injuries.

Additional officers were called to the scene for backup. No arrests were made.

A second attack happened early Monday morning, when fireworks were shot at Chicago police vehicles.

Towhnall senior writer Julio Rosas, who was in Chicago reporting on violence over Independence Day weekend, shared video of a crowd launching fireworks at cop cars as they slowly backed away at an intersection.

Individuals can bee seen kicking the police vehicle in the video as it retreats.

There have been no reported arrests from the second incident and no officers were harmed.

Chicago police increased their presence in city neighborhoods for an expected surge in violence over the long weekend. At least 54 people were shot, seven fatally, over 4th of July holiday weekend, WLS-TV reported.

There were 22 people shot on Friday alone, four of them killed. Chicago Police Superintendent David Brown pleaded with parents to keep track of their children amid the violence.

"There's no reason why everyone can't enjoy the holiday and every event safely. Parents, please, please know where your children are," Brown said, according to Fox News. "Don't leave them to government to be the parents of your kids. We need you, parents, please, to help us make sure your young people are safe."

Victims of the deadly shootings include a 24-year-old woman who was caught in the crossfire between two gunmen and a 26-year-old man who was killed in a drive-by shooting while he was riding a bike.

The youngest victim of the weekend violence was a 10-year-old boy who was wounded by bullets inside of his own home. The boy was sitting inside his bedroom when gunfire struck his house, hitting him in the buttocks and in an ankle. He was taken to the University of Chicago Comers Children's Hospital in good condition, police said.

Last year, 19 people were killed and more than 100 people were shot in Chicago while the country celebrated Independence Day.

Fight Or Flight? Do Not Surrender Chicago To Its Villains

Rather than wait on the failed leadership of Democrat partisans to 'fix' our city, local leaders and next-door neighbors need to unite to seek solutions.

Mother allegedly stabbed 5-year-old daughter to death in Chicago during another blood-soaked weekend

The mother of a 5-year-old girl in Chicago has been charged with stabbing her daughter to death during another blood-soaked weekend in the Windy City.

What are the details?

Simone Austin, 27, was charged with first-degree murder in connection with 5-year-old Serenity Arrington's death on Saturday, according to a report by WBBM-TV.

Police said they received a call to the East Garfield Park home on Chicago's west side, and when they arrived, they found Serenity suffering from multiple stab wounds. Neighbors had reportedly been attempting to assist her before paramedics came to the scene.

The young girl was quickly transported to Stroger Hospital of Cook County, but she died a few minutes later.

WFLD-TV reported that Austin appeared to be waiting for officers when they arrived on the scene Saturday morning. Police arrested her immediately and took her into custody.

Neighbors said that the family had just moved into the area this summer and appeared to be happy. They were shocked to hear of the news, and thus far no motive has been assigned in the case.

"It's just sad, just out of nowhere. I seen her just yesterday and today in the morning she's gone. It's just sad," neighbor Jose Maljar said.

Austin is reportedly undergoing mental health evaluations, and detectives are looking into whether she had a history of mental illness.

What's the background?

The atrocity is another in a weekend that saw 49 people shot and seven killed in Chicago, as the city continues to experience a surge in violent crime this year.

The Chicago Sun-Times reported that, according to police department statistics, shootings and murders are up 50% in Chicago from last year.

Through Sept. 20, there have been 560 murders in the city compared to 374 from the same time in 2019, and shootings are up to 2,300 compared to 1,500 last year.

Homicides spike over 50% in Chicago; murders already surpass 2019 total – could reach numbers not seen since the 1990s

With 3 1/2 months left in 2020, Chicago has already surpassed 2019's total amount of homicides. The latest crime stats out of Chicago are alarming, with murders and shootings spiking more than 50%.

As of Sept. 14, Cook County medical examiner's office recorded its 677th homicide of 2020, eclipsing last year's total of 675, the Chicago Sun-Times reported. Cook County, the second-most populated county in the nation with about 5.1 million residents, is on track to have more than 900 homicides this year, an eye-opening figure that hasn't been seen in decades.

This extreme level of violence hasn't been experienced in Chicago since the 1990s. In 2016, 762 people were murdered, an increase of 58% from 2015. There were 1,141 homicides in 1994, 855 in 1993, 943 in 1992, 928 in 1991, according to the Chicago Police Department.

Shootings were the cause of 86% of Chicago's murders this year. Shootings also increased by 52% compared to 2019 statistics. Making the dire situation even more heartbreaking is that dozens of children have been shot. As of Aug. 3, there have been 38 juveniles who were shot and killed in Chicago.

Chicago suffered one of its worst mass shootings in recent times in July when 15 people were shot at a funeral on the city's South Side.

Despite the summer ending, the violence has not slowed down. Last weekend, 54 people were shot and 12 killed. As of Sept. 14, there were over 2,200 shootings; at the same time in 2019, there were 1,400 shootings.

The Cook County medical examiner's office stated that blacks made up 79% of 2020's homicide deaths, and 16% of the victims were Latino.

On Monday, Chicago Police Superintendent David Brown expressed frustration that some of the criminals who were arrested over the Labor Day weekend had committed multiple felonies in the past.

"Violent offenders need to spend more time in jail in this city," Brown said. "They need to be held more accountable."

Brown noted that Chicago police had recovered over 7,400 guns, which is more than law enforcement have recovered in New York City and Los Angeles combined, according to USA Today.

Brown also pointed out that there is an increase in police officers being shot. He said that 55 Chicago police officers had been shot at in 2020, and 10 cops have been shot.

"There's not a comparable year. That's five times any previous year anyone can recall," Brown said of the police being shot. "We're risking everything."

On Sept. 9, Attorney General William Barr said that Operation Legend, a new law enforcement initiative against violent crime that partners federal agents with state and local police, has cut Chicago's homicide rate "in half."

"I am pleased to report that Operation Legend is working. Crime is down, and order is being restored to this great American city," Barr said during a news conference.

"The results of those actions speak for themselves," Barr said. "Over the first five weeks of Operation Legend in Chicago, murders dropped by 50% over the previous five weeks. August ultimately saw a 45% decrease in murders compared to July, and a 35% decrease compared to June."

Since July 22, the federal government has assigned 400 agents to Chicago in an effort to curb violent crime. The operation also granted more than $10 million to the Chicago Police Department to hire more officers and provide more technologically advanced equipment.

"Across 20 major cities, the murder rate at the end of June was on average 37% higher than it was at the end of May, according to Richard Rosenfeld, a criminologist at the University of Missouri-St. Louis," The New York Times reported. Last year's increase for the same time period was 6%.

New York City has also endured a significant increase in violent crimes. In August, shootings more than doubled compared to 2019, and murders increased by nearly 50%, according to The New York Times.

"Since May, the city has recorded 791 shootings, a more than 140% increase over the same period in 2019. The 180 murders seen between May and August is a more than 51% increase compared to 2019," The New York Times reports.

Many factors could be increasing gun violence in the U.S., such as higher unemployment, civil unrest stemming from social justice protests, and the COVID-19 pandemic and subsequent lockdowns.

Police union in Democrat-controlled Chicago endorses Trump's reelection

The Fraternal Order of Police chapter in Democrat-controlled Chicago has endorsed President Trump's reelection bid in a move that may serve to boost the president's law-and-order campaign theme.

According to the Chicago Tribune, the union's board of directors convened last Wednesday and voted unanimously to support the president's reelection.

The union's endorsement came only days after its national umbrella organization, the Fraternal Order of Police, also voted to endorse Trump's campaign. The Fraternal Order of Police is the nation's largest police union, representing more than 355,000 members.

Why does it matter?

While the Tribune noted that the move was largely expected, the fact that it came from an organization in heavily Democratic Chicago is notable. At the very least, it highlights a growing intolerance for the rampant violence and destruction that has resulted from civil unrest and Black Lives Matter protests in several cities across the country.

Chicago, for one, has been plagued by an historic rise in violence this year amid protests and coronavirus-related shutdowns. The city's Democratic mayor, Lori Lightfoot, has been harshly criticized by police for not doing enough to stop the violence and the rioting.

In August, news broke that Lightfoot — while supporting protesters publicly — had banned protests on her street and had been routinely stationing over 100 cops outside her home to enforce the ban.

Situations such as this reportedly caused a rift between the city's police and the mayor and caused some "quiet grumbling" within the department.

What else?

John Catanzara, the Chicago chapter's president, reportedly told the Tribune that the endorsement largely reflects the views of its membership before adding there will be some who disagree.

"There's definitely people who are not going to be happy about it," Catanzara said. "There are more Democrats, locally speaking, but there's even some Democrats who would agree that the current president has been very good for employment and law enforcement these days."

The union is just the latest in a long line of pro-law enforcement organizations to back the president's reelection.

In July, the National Association of Police Organizations endorsed Trump after supporting former President Barack Obama in 2008 and 2012. Then police unions in Florida and New York City also signaled their support for Trump.
