'He will lose': Bill Maher insists Biden shouldn't run in 2024, suggests instead any Democrat who isn't 'woke' or 'stupid'

Comedian and pundit Bill Maher concluded that Joe Biden must not run for president in 2024 if the Democrats hope to win, stating that anyone in the realm of being a "not stupid," not "woke" "50-ish-year-old" Democrat would be able to beat Donald Trump.

On his podcast "Club Random," Maher spoke to political analyst James Carville and said the two were on the same page about Biden being too old to run for president. Maher, however, stopped short of saying Biden was too old to be president and applauded his work during his term.

"He did a great service in 2020, maybe he was the only one who could've beaten Trump; now I think he's the only one who will lose to him."

"He will lose," Maher continued. "Because at some point perception becomes reality. Look, do I think he can do the job? Absolutely ... he cannot run for president."

The host made similar comments on his HBO show "Real Time with Bill Maher," where he insisted to his audience that it's time to move on from Biden.

"To those who say he beat Trump once, he'll do it again, I say things change. They always do," Maher said, according to Fox News. "The parade moves on. 2024 is not 2020 in so many key ways, including yes, Biden being four years older. You can be a national treasure and still be too old for the job. If I'm on a plane and the pilot says ‘This is your captain, Buzz Aldrin,' I'm getting off."

— Eric Abbenante (@Eric Abbenante) 1695639600

"He'll look bad in the debates, it's too much. He, I think, is going to lose. He will be Ruth Bader Biden. The Ruth Bader Ginsburg of the presidency. And any 50-ish, not stupid woke Democrat with a 'D' by their name — people just vote 'D' and 'R' — that person can win," Maher said on his podcast, before echoing the same sentiment on HBO.

"If this was 1860 when Joe first ran, this would not be an issue. You didn't have to look good. And there was no ubiquitous media to pick on every little mistake."

Maher also recently interviewed Republican presidential candidate Ron DeSantis and asked him why he "campaigned for election deniers in 2022."

DeSantis, while stating that he feels Trump legitimately lost in 2020, came back at Maher and Democrats' inability to accept the 2016 election.

“Let’s go back to 2016. Your friends in Hollywood were cutting ads telling the Electoral College to vote against Trump because it was stolen. They said Russia stole the election. For years they said that.”

Tribal Chief Is ‘Interested In Reclaiming’ Ancestral Land Where Ben & Jerry’s HQ Now Stands

Stevens expressed that he would be very interested in reclaiming the company's property

RFK Jr. tells Musk he wants to permanently seal the US-Mexico border; links mass shootings to pharmaceutical drugs

Robert F. Kennedy Jr. joined Elon Musk, venture capitalist David Sacks, former Democratic lawmaker Tulsi Gabbard, and others for a Twitter Spaces interview Monday to discuss many of the issues he reckons should be at the forefront of the political debate going into the 2024 presidential election.

Kennedy, running for president as a Democrat, drew the ire of the liberal media for championing so-called "right-wing ideas and misinformation" during the interview, which had more than 64,000 active listeners during the live broadcast and over 1.8 million listeners tune in since.

The New York Times, in particular, took issue with Kennedy's: expressed desire to close the U.S.-Mexico border; suggestion that there is a link between mass shootings and pharmaceutical drugs; claim that COVID-19 was "clearly a bioweapon"; and his criticism of Democrats' penchant for for war.

Guns, drugs, and Big Pharma

Kennedy clarified that he is a "constitutional absolutist."

The 69-year-old son of assassinated former U.S. Attorney General Robert F. Kennedy and nephew of assassinated former President John F. Kennedy stressed he knows firsthand the impact of gun violence but noted that the Supreme Court has made clear the meaning of the Second Amendment, which he would not impinge on.

Extra to acknowledging gun culture is deeply integrated in rural communities around the nation and that taking away Americans' guns is "not the right thing," Kennedy noted that further infringements on the Second Amendment would be rightly recognized as "part of a systematic assault on our Bill of Rights" at a time "when the Constitution has been under attack ... in an unprecedented way."

While supportive of security-hardening measures at schools as a temporary means to stymie future school shootings, Kennedy indicated that the real solution requires an understanding of the real problem, which isn't guns. After all, other countries with comparable numbers of guns per capita go without routine mass murders.

"[In] Switzerland, the last school shooting was 21 years ago. We have one every 21 hours. The one thing that we have that is different than anybody in the world is the amount of psychiatric drugs that our children are taking and our people are taking," said Kennedy.

As president, Kennedy said he would "look very closely at the role of psychiatric drugs in these events — and there are no good studies right now that should have been done years ago on this issue — because there is tremendous circumstantial evidence that those SSRIs and benzos and other drugs are doing this."

"There's something happening in our country right now that is not happening anywhere else in the world and has never happened in human history," continued Kennedy. "You have to look at some of the — almost all of these — drugs. If you look at their manufacturers' inserts, they include a side effect of homicidal and suicidal behavior. ... Prior to the introduction of Prozac, we had almost none of these events in our country and we've never seen them in human history."

Closing the border

Kennedy minced no words on the subject of American sovereignty with particular concern to the U.S.-Mexico border.

"We need to seal our border," said Kennedy. "It is a key existential function for every nation in the world to be able to control immigration at its border and having millions of people or hundreds of thousands, in this case millions of people, flowing across the border is not something any nation can or should put up with."

"Worst of all, it's created a humanitarian crisis at the border. The notion that we have an open border is now a gospel around the world so that people are flying in from all over the world, from Europe, from China, from Asia ... and being assisted by nonprofit groups and by government groups to actually make their way to the United States border within buses, and that needs to be shut down."

According to U.S. Customs and Border Protection, over 1.4 million illegal aliens stole into the country between October and April alone. Between October 2021 and September 2022, the number of southwest land border encounters was well over 2.3 million. Another 1.7 million entered illegally between October 2020 and September 2021.

Kennedy credits some of the illegal migration to bad U.S. foreign policy in South and Central America, invoking the fallout of the war on drugs and past U.S.-backed coups.

Beyond re-evaluating the country's approach to its involvement with southern nations, he stressed, "Above all, we need to seal the border," especially since illegal immigration has a profound impact on the American poor.

"We have people in this country who are poverty-stricken and who don't have access, because of the paucity of public assistance, don't even have access to public assistance. And we need to be protecting the people in this country," said Kennedy. "We don't have the capacity to support a lot of new immigrants. This huge flood of new immigrants that's coming into our cities and stressing the school systems, stressing the social service systems for ... Americans who are already struggling. It needs to be turned off."

Bioweapons and military adventurism

Kennedy said that the Democratic Party was not only captive to the pharmaceutical industry but that it has a great interest in the business of war, underscoring that President Joe Biden is a warmonger, reported the Times.

"I think the Democratic Party became the party of war," said Kennedy. "I attribute that directly to President Biden. ... He has always been in favor of very bellicose, pugnacious and aggressive foreign policy, and he believes that violence is a legitimate political tool for achieving America’s objectives abroad."

Kennedy was as critical if not more so of the war allegedly waged on the homeland.

Kennedy claimed that the CIA continued developing bioweapons in secret after the Biological Weapons Convention went into force in 1975, then took production into high gear in concert with other elements of the government after the Patriot Act was passed.

"We should shut the whole thing down. You know COVID was clearly a bioweapons problem and you saw what that did to us. What if it was a real disease? A disease that had a 50% mortality like dengue fever or Ebola or, you know, one of these other real deadly viruses. They got those in the labs too. What if that was the one that escaped? Let's shut it down around the world," said Kennedy.

Liberal media responds

The New York Times claimed Kennedy "sounded like a candidate far more at ease in the mushrooming Republican presidential contest," accusing him of using his "campaign platform — and his famous name — to promote misinformation and ideas that have little traction in his party."

The Times further suggested that Kennedy "is a longtime amplifier and propagator of baseless theories."

CNN suggested that Musk's "direct association with Kennedy ... could have significant ramifications both for Twitter as a platform and for Musk's credibility," writing off Kennedy as a "marginal candidate who espouses debunked medical claims.

While CNN framed the interview in a negative light, it did manage to note some of Kennedy's pro-liberty credentials: "Kennedy has also attacked the closing of churches, social distancing and government track-and-trace surveillance."

Rolling Stone, which has repeatedly issued false reports and libels, summarized the interview thusly: "The environmental lawyer turned conspiracy theorist — now attempting to primary President Biden for the 2024 Democratic presidential nomination — made time to discuss a wide range of his more outlandish and pseudoscientific ideas throughout a conversation that lasted nearly two and a half hours."

The interview can be heard in its entirety here:

\u201cHere's the space. Live now (music)\n\nhttps://t.co/uXPzG4AfQa\u201d
— Steve Kirsch (@Steve Kirsch) 1685988485

According to a late-May CNN poll, Kennedy is second most-favored in the polls amongst prospective Democratic voters. 20% presently favor him, but he trails Biden by 40 points. The RealClear Politics average presently has Biden at 42.5 point advantage.

'Follow the money': Ex-Anheuser-Busch exec explains how investment firms pressure major corporations to go woke

Woke agendas have cost Anheuser-Busch and Target billions in market value. However, major corporations are being pressured to push progressive causes by powerful investment firms, according to an ex-Anheuser-Busch exec.

Anheuser-Busch InBev has reportedly lost $27 billion in market value following the Bud Light promotion with LGBTQ activist Dylan Mulvaney and subsequent boycotts.

Boycotts of Target erupted after the national retailer promoted Pride month with "tuck-friendly" bathing suits, LGBTQ onesies for babies, and products from a transgender designer promoting Satanism. The boycotts caused JPMorgan to downgrade Target's stock, and the retail chain's share price dropped 14%.

Dominant investment firms are strong-arming companies to promote progressive values despite alienating large swaths of their customer base says Anson Frericks – former president of Anheuser-Busch sales and distribution.

"You just have to follow the money," Frericks said during an appearance on "Jesse Watters Primetime." "You take a look at BlackRock, State Street, Vanguard – they manage $20 trillion worth of capital."

Frericks noted that these impactful investment firms manage massive pension funds, such as the state of California's pension fund – the largest in the country. Frericks said that California politicians wield influence on which companies these firms invest in.

"In California, for example, they recently have mandated those large pension funds that they divest from things like fossil fuels and oil and gas, and then when Bill de Blasio, [former] mayor of New York, was there, he did the same thing," he said.

Frericks added, "But they also tell BlackRock, State Street, and Vanguard if they're going to manage their money, they have to commit to things like ESG — diversity, equity, inclusion — and adopt firm-wide commitments that they therefore then force onto all the major companies in corporate America."

Frericks said he left Anheuser-Busch because large companies began engaging in politics and telling customers "how to live their lives."

He pointed to Georgia legislators passing election integrity laws, then BlackRock, Coca-Cola, Delta Airlines, and MLB publicly opposing the law that didn't directly affect them.

Frericks told Fox News host Jesse Watters, "But what was crazy to me was that after the fact, BlackRock came out and they said, 'We're against this law. We think this is bad for democracy, this is bad for society,' and they basically then had companies like Coca-Cola, like Delta and heck — even Major League Baseball, they canceled an All-Star Game over this."

— Chief Nerd (@Chief Nerd) 1685880006

Frericks warned that BlackRock, State Street, and Vanguard – known as the "Big Three" – are "proponents of what's called 'stakeholder capitalism,' which is a belief that businesses should be run not only to increase value to shareholders, but to serve all stakeholders, including government agencies, activists, and non-governmental organizations."

"The Big Three began to issue guidelines on how they expected their portfolio companies to honor this 'commitment' by implementing so-called Environmental, Social, and Governance, or ESG, targets, and scores," Frericks wrote in the Daily Mail. "To encourage compliance, the Big Three uses their power as shareholders to influence who sits on corporate boards."

He added, "The Big Three also wield enormous influence when it comes to executive pay. According to one study, a shocking 73% of S&P 500 companies now tie executive compensation to ESG measures. If a CEO doesn't weigh in on the latest social issue quickly enough, his or her bonus could be in jeopardy."

Frericks wrote that political and cultural issues "should be settled at the ballot box, not in the board room."

Previously, Glenn Beck warned of the dangers of ESG and how it could fundamentally transform the entire western world on BlazeTV.

Elon Musk blasts 'woke mind virus' in revealing interview with Bill Maher

Elon Musk blasts 'woke mind virus' in revealing interview with Bill Maher

Elon Musk blasted the extent to which the "woke mind virus" has infested education in an exclusive interview on HBO's "Real Time with Bill Maher" Friday night.

"I think we need to be very cautious about anything that is anti-meritocratic and anything that results in the suppression of free speech," Twitter CEO Musk told host Bill Maher.

"So those are two of the aspects of the ‘woke mind virus’ that I think are very dangerous ... you can’t question things, even the questioning is bad. Almost synonymous would be cancel culture."

Musk went on to discuss the worrisome impact the "woke mind virus" has had on education. Saturday morning, he doubled down, saying the extent of teachers' indoctrination of children had reached a "shocking degree."

\u201c@TPostMillennial @billmaher To a shocking degree\u201d
— The Post Millennial (@The Post Millennial) 1682736353

In Musk's view, the infestation of the "woke mind virus" has "been a long time brewing." He estimated the infiltration took place over the last two decades.

"The amount of indoctrination that's happening in schools and universities is, I think, far beyond what parents realize."

He emphasized that the educational experiences of Baby Boomers and GenX differ wildly from the experiences of today's students.

Musk agreed to some extent with Maher's suggestion that parents are to blame, at least in part, noting that parents' lack of awareness has contributed to the problem.

"Parents are just generally not aware of what their kids are being taught or what they're not being taught," Musk said during the interview.

"Most parents have no idea how bad it is," Musk tweeted Saturday.

\u201c@CollinRugg Most parents have no idea how bad it is\u201d
— Collin Rugg (@Collin Rugg) 1682736525

As an example, Musk related a story about the children of a friend. He said that though the children, high school students in the Bay Area, could name George Washington as one of the first presidents, the extent of their knowledge about him was that he was a slave owner.

"Maybe you should know more than that," Musk said.

"That is the woke mind virus exactly," Maher responded, to applause from the audience.

In a discussion about the public's perception of their political stances, Maher described himself and Musk as among those who are now "called conservative, but haven't really changed." Maher added that he didn't think of Musk as a conservative.
Musk agreed, saying he thinks of himself as a "moderate."

Musk said he had invested "a massive amount" of his life to pursing avenues of sustainable energy like electric vehicles and solar to "help save the environment."

"It's not exactly far-right," he joked.

Musk's interview with Maher comes amid controversy over popular media figure Tucker Carlson abruptly disappearing from his time slot on Fox News Channel. Carlson responded to the controversy on Twitter in a brief video post that has since garnered 77.3 million views.

"Where can you still find Americans saying true things? There aren't many places left, but there are some, and that's enough. As long as you can hear the words, there's hope," Carlson said.

"See you soon," he concluded.

Musk, who is Twitter's CEO, responded simply with "wow" to a post claiming the number of views of Carlson's post on the platform was greater than "all cable news shows for the entire day combined."

Video: Country musician Riley Green ditches 'Bud Light' lyric during concert — and the crowd absolutely loves it

Country musician Riley Green while recently on stage switched out the "Bud Light" reference in the lyrics of his song "I Wish Grandpas Never Died" — presumably a shot over the bow at the beer brand for its notorious partnership with transgender influencer Dylan Mulvaney — and the crowd absolutely loved it.

Check out the viral moment below:

The original lyrics read, in part, "And I wish even cars had truck beds / And every road was named Copperhead / And coolers never run out of cold Bud Light..." Green simply replaced "Bud Light" with "Coors Light."

Definitely a crowd pleaser for those who attended Friday's show at Nashville's Nissan Stadium.

How did Twitter react?

As you no doubt expect, a number of Twitter commenters were just as pleased as the audience:

  • "Looking forward even more to seeing him in a month," one commenter wrote. "Dude gets it."
  • "He has my complete respect," another user said. "What an alpha."
  • "I'm pinning this to my profile," another commenter declared. "Merica!"

The latest salvo

After the Bud Light-Mulvaney team-up hit the news, Nashville-based musician Kid Rock posted a video of himself shooting at cases of Budweiser beer, a clip that quickly went viral with millions of views.

In addition, country music legend Travis Tritt announced he was dropping all Anheuser-Busch products from his tour.

What's more, country music singer John Rich scrapped Bud Light from his Nashville bar amid the Mulvaney controversy.

Soon it came out that prior to the Bud Light-Mulvaney partnership, the beer company's vice president Alissa Gordon Heinerscheid stressed the need to get away from Bud Light's "out-of-touch" frat boy image to one of "inclusivity."

Then last week Anheuser-Busch insiders reported that “no one at the senior level” was aware of or approved a partnership with Mulvaney amid the brand plummeting $5 billion in value.

Finally Anheuser-Busch's CEO released a damage-control statement that got called out for lack of substance, and the beer giant created a patriotic "Heart of America" advertisement presumably to fortify its face-saving campaign.

Here's a clip related to the country music reaction:

Russell Brand torches MSNBC as 'propagandist nut-crackery' during heated debate on 'Real Time with Bill Maher,' gives warning about big pharma and military-industrial complex

Actor-turned-podcast host Russell Brand pummeled MSNBC, big pharma, and the military-industrial complex during his appearance on the latest episode of "Real Time with Bill Maher."

Brand tussled with fellow guest and liberal MSNBC analyst John Heilemann during a debate about media bias. Brand contended that all of the corporate cable news networks have an inherent bias because of pressure from their controllers. Heilemann claimed that Fox News was far worse in regards to disinformation than MSNBC – the network that signs his checks.

Brand declared, "But I have to say that it's, it's disingenuous to claim that the biases exhibited on Fox News are any different from the biases exhibited on MSNBC."

"It's difficult to suggest that's because these corporations operate as anything other than mouthpieces for their affiliate owners in Blackrock and Vanguard," Brand continued. "We've have to take responsibility for our own perspective."

Brand said, "I've been on that MSNBC. Man, it was a propagandist nut-crackery over there."

Brand spoke about previously appearing on MSNBC's "Morning Joe" show, "It was absurd the way they carried on."

"No one could concentrate, they didn't understand the basic tenets of journalism," the comedian stated.

"No one was willing to stick up for genuine American heroes like Edward Snowden," Brand proclaimed. "No one was willing to talk about Julian Assange and what he's suffered – trying to bring real journalism to the American people."

"I think to sit within the castle of MSNBC throwing rocks at Fox News is ludicrous. Make MSNBC better. Make MSNBC great again," Brand said.

A perturbed Heilemann lashed out, "You don't actually know anything about any of these organizations you're talking about. You've been on MSNBC once – big f***ing deal! You don't have a single actual fact."

Heilemann challenged Brand to provide one example of an MSNBC correspondent or anchor saying something they knew was false on TV.

Brand gladly accepted the challenge.

"The ludicrous, outrageous criticisms of Joe Rogan around ivermectin," Brand retorted. "Deliberately referring to this as a horse medicine when they know this an effective medicine."

Brand raised another example, "What about Rachel Maddow turning up on the TV saying, 'If you take this vaccine you're not gonna get it."

Heilemann simply dismissed Brand's examples without explaining why.

The "Stay Free" podcast host then questioned the MSNBC analyst, "Do you think you can improve America by avowedly condemning Fox News without acknowledging that you're participating in the same game?"

Brand called for systemic changes, and taking money out of politics.

"We need new political systems that genuinely represent ordinary Americans so that we can overcome cultural differences," Brand told Bill Maher. "And bickering about which propagandist network is the worst is not going to save a single American life, not improve the life of a single American child, not going to improve America's standing in the world, and the world needs a strong America. I'll tell you that."

Brand told Heilemann, "So you have an obligation, a duty, not to condemn these people."

(WARNING: Explicit language)

Maher said the pandemic dissenters are "looking better these days."

Brand delivered a comedic take on the origin of COVID-19. He suggested that COVID came from a Wuhan lab leak and not the wet market that was touted as the origin of the deadly outbreak.

Maher sarcastically joked, "How could it not be a possibility? It's a lab in Wuhan where the virus started that studied the virus and was doing gain of function research on the virus. How could it not be?"

Heilemann blamed the politicization of the COVID-19 origin debate on former President Donald Trump.

"If you go back to that time, why do people seize on the notion that they'll reject the lab-leak theory? Because like everything else in COVID, Donald Trump politicized it from day one," Heilemann theorized.

Brand pushed back by saying, "It seems that it's not solely the responsibility of Donald Trump that this issue has become politicized. When we take the issue of natural immunity, the efficacy of masks, it's difficult not to posit that perhaps increasingly a centralized authority becomes subject to inquiry that it has never before faced because of the advancement of technology, because of our media ability to communicate, they are doubling down on authoritarianism."

Brand also delivered a warning about big pharma and the military-industrial complex.

"If you have an economic system in which pharmaceutical companies benefit hugely from medical emergencies, where a military-industrial complex benefits from war, where energy companies benefit from energy crisis, you are going to get states of perpetual crisis where the interests of ordinary people, separate from the interests of the elite," Brand asserted.

Joe Rogan calls out leftist billionaire George Soros: 'It's like he wants these cities to fall apart. He wants crime to flourish.'

Joe Rogan suggested on his podcast this week that the wanton violence and seeming lawlessness in various American cities may not be accidental, but rather by design.

The podcaster told former CIA agent Mike Baker on a recent episode of the "Joe Rogan Experience" that leftist billionaire George Soros, 92, "wants crime to flourish" and "funds corrosion."

After discussing disgraced former FTX CEO and Democrat megadonor Sam Bankman-Fried's legal woes, Rogan and Baker broached the subject of the social fallout generated by Democrats' top donor, whom Baker deemed a "vampire."

Rogan noted that he had spoken to Republican Gov. Greg Abbott about George Soros and that Abbott explained the billionaire's modus operandi, particularly as it regards exerting influence over American law and politics.

"It's f***ing terrifying," said Rogan. "He donates money to [someone] very progressive, very leftist — whether it's a DA or whatever politician — and then funds someone who's even further left than them to go against them, and just keeps moving it along."

"He's playing like a global game ... and he enjoys doing it," Rogan added.

TheBlaze reported this week on revelations that Soros' nonprofit system, the Soros Network, has funneled nearly $21 billion into left-leaning politics since 2000.

Open Secrets indicated that Soros was the "top individual super PAC donor for the 2022 midterm election," having contributed at least $126 million to leftist super PACS in the last election cycle.

The Law Enforcement Legal Defense Fund indicated in a recent report that, as of June 2022, the U.S. had "at least 75 Soros-Backed social justice prosecutors, supported through campaign dollars and/or Soros-funded progressive infrastructure groups."

The LELDF report claimed that in 2021, the 75 Soros-backed "social justice prosecutors" who now represent "1 in 5 Americans or more than 72 million people" oversaw "more than 40% (9,000+) of the approximately 22,500 homicides in the US occurred in areas."

The report further alleged that "these prosecutors' charging and plea deal decisions, sentencing recommendations, and trial strategies" have been a major part of the perpetuation of and rise in crime in the cities they oversee.

Among Soros' beneficiaries is Philadelphia's impeached Democrat District Attorney Larry Krasner, whom the state's House Select Committee on Restoring Law and Order accused of contributing "to a catastrophic rise in violent crime at the expense of public safety."

Baker responded to Rogan, saying, "[Soros] understood early on where you wanted to seize power."

The former CIA agent intimated that it is a popular misconception that senators or similar politicians are the most influential power-brokers. Instead, "it's the DAs and it's the state-level politicians. That's where real change occurs and where things can happen."

Rogan interjected, suggesting it is at this level of politics — where Soros appears most engaged — where "real corrosion" can have a significant impact.

"That's what's scary: It seems like he funds corrosion. It's like he wants these cities to fall apart. He wants crime to flourish," said Rogan. "It's almost like he's an evil person in a Batman movie."

In an apparent effort to bolster the villain claim, Baker noted that Soros "made his real fortune by almost busting the bank of England. ... He's not out there for truth and justice."

Facing criticism over his alleged hand in destabilizing American cities, Soros penned an opinion piece in July displacing blame.

In the piece, he claimed that recent crime spikes in Democrat-controlled cities weren't the result of his beneficiaries' failures but of "a disturbing rise in mental illness among young people ... a pullback in policing in the wake of public criminal justice reform protests, and increases in gun trafficking."

"Imo Essien was evaluated by the ODU Athletic Training staff along with the GA Southern medical staff," the school said in a statement posted to Twitter.

"He was responsive throughout and was able to sit with the team for the duration of the game and drove home with the team," the statement continued.

Essien is averaging 5.4 points per game, while playing nearly 30 minutes in each match. According to his bio, Essien scored over 1,000 points in high school and was selected as an all-state player twice.

"He is in good spirits and will work with the ODU Sports Medicine Staff when they return to Norfolk," the school said of Essien.

The player didn't appear to lose consciousness and was helped off the court by staff, with medical personnel from both teams initially attending to the guard.

Essien posted a statement to his Twitter account, saying the incident was "by far the scariest day of my life."

"Never would I have imagined having to go through something that severe," the statement continued.

"Even though it hurt not being able to continue competing on the court with my brothers, I'm extremely proud how they fought to get the win," Essien remarked.

"I want to let everyone know...My family my close friends, Monarch Nation, and anyone else who may be concerned, I'm feeling a lot better and confident that I will be at 100% very soon," the player said before signing his name.

Old Dominion won an otherwise exciting game 81-75 in overtime.

DeSantis declares state of emergency, calls for activation of Florida National Guard due to influx of 'unauthorized aliens'

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis has declared a state of emergency related to the arrival of "unauthorized aliens" in Florida.

The executive order calls for activating the Florida National Guard as necessary to handle the emergency.

"Because of the foregoing conditions, I hereby find that the migration of unauthorized aliens to the State of Florida is likely to constitute a major disaster. I therefore declare that a state of emergency exists in the State of Florida," the executive order declares. "I order the Adjutant General to activate the Florida National Guard, as needed, to deal with this emergency."

The move comes as massive numbers of immigrants continue to inundate America's southern border — U.S. Customs and Border Protection reports massive numbers of southwest land border encounters month after month.

Florida has been experiencing immigrants arriving by water. "During the past 24 hours, Border Patrol agents & LE partners responded to 5 migrant landings & encountered 90 Cuban migrants in the Florida Keys. The migrants arrived on rustic vessels & residents notified local authorities," U.S. Border Patrol Miami Sector Chief Patrol Agent Walter N. Slosar tweeted on Friday.

Dry Tortugas National Park, which is to the west of Key West, Florida, was recently closed to public access because of immigrants arriving there, but is slated to reopen January 8.

\u201cEarlier today, the migrants were safely turned over to Border Patrol custody. We will continue to work alongside our interagency partners to apply the appropriate care & ensure the humane processing of these individuals, consistent with our laws.\u00a0\n\n#Breaking #Update #Cuba #CBP\u201d

DeSantis, a Republican, was recently sworn in for his second term.

"As the negative impacts of Biden's lawless immigration policies continue unabated, the burden of the Biden administration’s failure falls on local law enforcement who lack the resources to deal with the crisis," DeSantis said, according to a press release. "That is why I am activating the National Guard and directing state resources to help alleviate the strain on local resources. When Biden continues to ignore his legal responsibilities, we will step in to support our communities."
