Transgender suspect accused of molesting autistic children at therapy center found dead in jail

A transgender individual accused of molesting young autistic children was found dead in jail, according to police in Indiana.

Leomeir Kennedy was found unconscious in a jail cell at around 9:32 a.m. on Friday, according to the Johnson County Sheriff’s Department. CPR was performed on Kennedy, but medics pronounced Kennedy dead at the Johnson County Jail.

The sheriff's office said no foul play is suspected in Kennedy's death. WTHR reported that Kennedy suffered from cardiac arrest, according to the coroner's office.

The coroner's office will be conducting an autopsy and toxicology test. There is currently an investigation into the transgender inmate's death.

In April, Kennedy was charged with child molestation and possession of child pornography.

Kennedy allegedly molested at least three children at the Hopebridge Autism Therapy Center in Greenwood – where Kennedy worked as a licensed behavior technician.

As TheBlaze previously reported, "Kennedy had allegedly admitted the assaults to a spiritual advisor, who then encouraged her to confess to the parents of her first victim: a 1-year-old girl whom Kennedy regularly babysat in 2017. Kennedy reportedly molested the girl once while changing her diaper."

Kenney was accused of molesting two autistic children – one nonverbal and one semi-verbal.

Investigators purportedly discovered child pornography on Kennedy's cell phone and laptop.

WXIN previously reported, "A search of Kennedy’s electronics reportedly found a search on DuckDuckGo of a '13-year-old gang raped' and two sexual images of very young children he received from someone on the Whispr app."

In July, a mother of one of the alleged victims filed a lawsuit against Kennedy and the therapy center.

The lawsuit accuses the Hopebridge Autism Therapy Center of being "careless and negligent" for failing to protect the young girl from "sexual, physical, emotional, and psychological abuse."

Kennedy allegedly claimed to have been molested as a child and sought counseling from a spiritual advisor to remove "snakes and shadows."

Kennedy – originally from Vancouver, Washington – was reportedly a biological female using testosterone.

Kennedy was supposed to go to trial in July, but it was rescheduled to September.

Former Rhode Island councilman previously busted with crack pipe now hit with child molestation charges

Matthew Reilly, the former Rhode Island councilman who made national headlines after being busted with an alleged crack pipe, is in the news again after being hit with child molestation charges.

Reilly was a councilman for the city of Cranston, the second-largest city in Rhode Island. Reilly, a Republican, resigned after police bodycam video caught him asleep in a car with an alleged crack pipe. The police officer is seen on bodycam footage telling Reilly, "You have a crack pipe in your hand."

Police said they found the councilman with drug paraphernalia and a "white, rock-like substance" containing crack cocaine and fentanyl.

He was arrested on May 15 and charged with possession of a controlled substance.

Reilly resigned from his city council seat on May 18. Reilly had been in his first term on the city council, where he represented Ward 6.

The 41-year-old former city council member was arrested again on Thursday; this time, he was accused of child sex crimes.

Cranston police detectives, North Kingston police, and investigators from the attorney general's special victims unit arrested Reilly.

The legal guardian of a 12-year-old girl previously filed a complaint with authorities, which led to a month-long investigation by detectives from the Cranston Police Special Victims Unit and the prosecutors from the Office of the Rhode Island Attorney General that began on May 7.

Sources told WJAR that Reilly met a young girl online. The alleged child sex crimes occurred on May 3, according to court records.

The Cranston Police Department said Reilly was charged with first-degree child molestation, second-degree child molestation, and enticement of a person under 16.

On Thursday, Reilly reportedly pleaded not guilty in Kent County District Court.

His attorney, Michael J. Lepizzera, Jr., said in a statement to Law&Crime:

The charges are obviously serious in nature. With these types of charges, I can see the general public and even close friends instantaneously turning their back on Mr. Reilly and drawing knee-jerk conclusions. I simply ask everyone to refrain from public ridicule and gossip and allow the legal process to unfold in the ordinary course. While we may not have a perfect system of justice in this country (as nothing is perfect), my 30 years as a lawyer allows me to state that we have as near perfect judicial system as could exist and we should trust in the system to be the final adjudicator of the facts, the law, and any legal outcome.

District Court Judge Joseph P. Ippolito ordered Reilly held without bail and also ordered him to undergo a competency hearing, according to Cranston police chief Col. Michael J. Winquist.

Reilly is due back in court on June 15.

Comedians Tiffany Haddish and Aries Spears accused of grooming and molesting children in sexually explicit skits, defense lawyer says lawsuit is a 'shakedown'

Comedians Tiffany Haddish and Aries Spears are facing a lawsuit accusing them of grooming and molesting children. However, the defense lawyer for Spears dismisses the allegations as a "shakedown."

The lawsuit against the comedians was filed on Tuesday in the Los Angeles County Superior Court by a 22-year-old woman only identified as "Jane Doe." The lawsuit was also filed on behalf of her brother, identified as "John Doe." The lawsuit accuses Haddish and Spears of intentional infliction of emotional distress, gross negligence, sexual battery, sexual harassment, and sexual abuse of a minor.

The lawsuit claims that the mother of the alleged victims was a "longtime family friend" of Haddish. According to the filing, Jane Doe met Haddish in 2013 at a summer camp where the comedic actress was a guest speaker. Haddish told Doe – who was 14 at the time – that she had the "perfect role" for her.

Haddish, 42, allegedly got permission from the mother to use the children to film a video. The filing states that the children were making a satirical Subway sandwich commercial that was "sexually suggestive." Haddish and Spears instructed the siblings to start “moaning and making sexual noises as they both ate the sandwich in a manner that simulated the act of fellatio” from opposite sides of the sub, according to the Daily Beast.

In the summer of 2014, Haddish purportedly asked the mother if her children would want to star in a video. The lawsuit claims that Haddish told the mother that the video would be an audition reel to get the children on Nickelodeon.

Haddish took the children to Spears' home, according to the filing. In the skit, Haddish allegedly played the boy’s guardian who left the child with Spears — who portrayed a pedophile, according to the filing.

The lawsuit states, "The video was entitled 'Through A Pedophiles Eyes' and shows Spears lusting over the 7-year-old child and molesting him throughout the video. Haddish was present during the filming of the entire video and aided, abetted, and watched Spears sexually molest a child."

People magazine reported the lawsuit "said John was later stripped 'down to his underwear' for a skit titled 'Through A Pedophiles Eyes' about a child being left with a man, played by Spears, who 'leers at the child lustfully' in multiple scenes before massaging John with oil and later, getting into a bathtub with him and forcing the child 'closer to him in the tub.'"

The filing claims the video ends with the words: "WATCH WHO YOU LEAVE YOUR KIDS WITH!"

John Doe claims that the comedians gave him a drink that made him sleepy and some "happy face candy." He says that Haddish paid him and his sister $100.

The mother allegedly asked Haddish and Spears what was filmed that "made her son cry."

The lawsuit alleges that Spears, 47, told the mother that the video was not edited yet. Haddish reportedly told the mother that she didn't have a copy of the video, but assured her it was meant to be a funny skit.

At the time, the sexually explicit skit with the children was uploaded to several video-hosting websites, including the Funny or Die website.

In June 2018, the mother reportedly discovered the video of her children online.

The filing notes, "The mother, upset, stated that she would have never let her son participate in a pedophile child pornography skit."

"The plaintiffs were both minors and were incapable of consenting to participate in sexually graphic videos distributed and published via 'Funny or Die's' platform," the lawsuit states. "There was no parent or guardian present."

A spokesperson for Funny or Die told the Daily Beast, "Funny Or Die found this video absolutely disgusting and would never produce such content."

"We were not involved with the conceptualization, development, funding, or production of this video," the representative added. "It was uploaded to the site as user-generated content and was removed in 2018 immediately after becoming aware of its existence.”

The lawsuit claims that both Jane and John have developed social disorders. Jane allegedly doesn't "trust anyone." The lawsuit claims that John suffers from "depression and anxiety," and he "stays in his room at home and places band-aids over the cameras on his electronics for fear of being watched or recorded."

Jane Doe claims that her traumatic memory was "unlocked" when "Haddish performed a similar scene" in the 2017 comedic movie "Girls Trip," which made her "[realize] the severity of what happened to her," according to the lawsuit.

The lawsuit states, "The plaintiffs are both traumatized for life. Similar to the manner in which Giselle (sic) Maxwell groomed young girls for Jeffrey Epstein, upon information and belief, Haddish made plaintiff Jane Doe feel comfortable and special, but this was all a grooming tactic by Haddish to entice and coerce both children into filming sexually explicit child pornography skits."

USA Today reported, "According to the lawsuit, the plaintiffs' mother previously attempted to work out a $15,000 settlement with Spears over the video of John Doe but was unsuccessful due to her 'mental state' and a few missteps in the legal process."

The lawsuit does not specify how much in monetary damages the plaintiffs are seeking.

Attorneys for Haddish and Spears have dismissed the lawsuit as a "shakedown."

Spears' attorney, Debra Opri, responded to the lawsuit, "He isn’t going to fall for any shakedown."

Haddish's lawyer, Andrew Brettler, refuted the accusations as "bogus" and "meritless."

"Plaintiff's mother … has been trying to assert these bogus claims against Ms. Haddish for several years," Brettler declared. "Every attorney who has initially taken on her case – and there were several – ultimately dropped the matter once it became clear that the claims were meritless and Ms. Haddish would not be shaken down."

Brettler added, "Now, Ms. Morris has her adult daughter representing herself in this lawsuit. The two of them will together face the consequences of pursuing this frivolous action."

Ex-deputy sexually abused male relatives, told 8-year-old boy he might grow up to be a porn star, police say — and now he faces a slew of disturbing charges

A former Wisconsin sheriff's deputy has been charged with child sex assault, police say — and some of the purported crimes were said to have been carried out against young male members of the deputy's family.

All are felony charges, according to police.

What are the details?

Authorities arrested 34-year-old Gary Aaron Huber earlier this month and charged him with one count of first-degree child sex assault, one count of repeated sexual assault of a child, three counts of child enticement, two counts of causing a child between 13 and 18 years old to view or listen to sexual activity, and three counts of exposing genitals, pubic area, or intimate parts to a child.

Law & Crime reported that Huber allegedly quit his job at the Rock County Sheriff's Office rather than comply with an investigation into the allegations.

In a statement on the accusations, a spokesperson for the Rock County Sheriff's Office said, "On July 1, 2021, allegations of criminal behavior were made to Sheriff’s Office officials regarding Gary Huber. The alleged criminal behavior occurred prior to Huber being hired as a deputy sheriff in August 2016.”

A probable cause statement obtained by the outlet reported that an unnamed male came forward and accused Huber of sexually assaulting at least four relatives.

One of the relatives, who was born in 1996, said that Huber molested him and provided opiate patches.

"Investigators said they interviewed four alleged victims," the outlet reported. "Huber's alleged pattern of abuse was to show them pornography and also to fondle them. One of the relatives, as phrased by the complaint, said that 'Huber continued to expose him to pornography and would state that someday [the boy, then age 8] might be a porn star.'"

The former deputy reportedly told the child that if he talked about the incidents to other people, he would tell those people that the child was gay.

Huber would reportedly go on to abuse the boy for several more years until 2016, when he turned 15 years old.

Another relative said that he endured similar abuse at Huber's hands, which reportedly included "contact with the relative's genitals and kissing."

The spokesperson told the outlet that the department thoroughly invested the tip upon receipt.

“The alleged criminal behavior warranted an investigation, and the Wisconsin Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI) agreed to investigate the allegations,” the sheriff’s office said in its statement. “When requested by Sheriff’s Officials to meet regarding the allegations, Huber refused to return to the Sheriff’s Office and promptly resigned, effective July 1, 2021. On December 13, 2021, Sheriff’s Office officials were informed by DCI agents that Huber was arrested in Indiana on 10 counts of various sex crimes against children. Due to DCI handling the criminal investigation and subsequent charges, the Sheriff’s Office will have no further comment on the criminal investigation.”

Judge sentences convicted pedophile to 280 years in prison for 'horrific, dastardly conduct' against four little girls

A California judge has sentenced a Paso Robles, California, man to more than 280 years in prison after he was convicted on 52 counts related to sex abuse of children, including video surveillance of dozens of children without their knowledge.

What are the details?

Jason Robert Porter, 49, was convicted of abusing at least four young girls between the ages of 1 and 13 years old from 2008 to 2016, according to the San Luis Obispo Tribune, after having waived his right to a jury trial.

Authorities first arrested Porter in June 2016 after a young girl's mother — a former friend and neighbor — reportedly caught him shooting cell phone photos underneath her child's dress. Several weeks later, authorities arrested him a second time after investigators discovered "tens of thousands of images and videos of children engaging in sexual acts, including some allegedly showing Porter molesting children," during a related search of his home and personal electronic devices.

The charges included 16 felony counts of sex crimes against children and child pornography, as well as 36 misdemeanors for unauthorized invasion of privacy.

In a Monday statement on Porter's sentencing, San Luis Obispo Superior Court Judge Barry T. LaBarbera added, "I've been doing this a long time and I've seen a lot of things, and this for me was very difficult to watch. This was horrific, dastardly conduct. ... Not only were the victims particularly young, a lot of the conduct was committed while they were sleeping."

One of Porter's victims, an 11-year-old girl, testified against him in court, saying that he molested her when she was just 4 years old during a visit to his home. The unnamed child said that she was at Porter's home for a playdate with his two adolescent sons.

"I pretended I was asleep," she admitted during her testimony.

A press release from San Luis Obispo County District Attorney Dan Dow quoted him as saying, "We sincerely applaud the courage of these young survivors in reporting the abuse, and the parents of survivors who appeared in court today to face the defendant and express the very real impact of his terrible crimes. This sentence sends a clear message that we will prosecute child sexual predators to the maximum extent of the law."

Deputy District Attorney Melissa Chabra added, "The young victim's bravery while testifying in court in front of her abuser inspires me to continue my work on these cases and fight for justice for all survivors of sexual abuse in our country."
