Ex-teacher rearrested in connection with accusations she had sex with student after new evidence emerges

A former high school teacher in Texas has been rearrested in connection with accusations that she sexually assaulted a child after new evidence came to light.

Molly Colleen Spears, 35, was accused of sexually abusing a student between 2022 and 2023. Spears taught at Barbers Hill High School in Mont Belvieu, which is roughly 35 miles east of Houston, and then resigned iin the summer of 2023.

The former teacher allegedly 'solicited the contact by text message and through a commercial online service to meet the student.'

On Feb. 8, 2024 — about a year ago — a Chambers County grand jury reportedly indicted Spears for the charge of improper relationship with a student.

Despite an arrest warrant being issued four days later, Spears wasn't arrested in connection with the charge until earlier this month — Feb. 11, 2025.

Citing her attorney, KPRC-TV reported that Spears was arrested Feb. 11 "without incident" when she turned herself in to police. Spears was transferred to the Chambers County Jail and was soon released after posting a $50,000 bond.

After her first Feb. 11 arrest, Spears’ defense attorney — Christopher L. Tritico — said in a statement that his client "was first notified of the charges two days ago, and we acted immediately to get the bond set up and in place. I cannot speak to why it sat dormant for so long. ... Ms. Spears looks forward to having an opportunity to confront the allegations and to finally put this matter behind her."

However, after new revelations came to light related to the alleged crime, Spears was rearrested Thursday.

Spears was charged with two counts of sexual assault of a child. Police said her bond was set at $200,000.

The Mont Belvieu Police Department said in a statement, "In February 2025, the Chambers County District Attorney's Office requested investigative assistance from the Mont Belvieu Police Department Criminal Investigations Division (CID) into new evidence of possible sexual assault of a child incidents that occurred in 2022 and 2023."

Citing court records, KPRC reported that Spears is accused of "engaging in sexual contact and intercourse with a male student during her time as a teacher at Barbers Hill High School."

The former teacher allegedly "solicited the contact by text message and through a commercial online service to meet the student."

The new accusations were reportedly connected to a "previously investigated case of Improper Relationship Between Educator and Student conducted by the Barbers Hill ISD Police Department in 2023."

The Mont Belvieu Police Department stated, "Due to the sensitive and active nature of this investigation and the age of the victim, no further information will be released at this time."

5th-grade teacher accused of having sexual relationship with 13-year-old, living with student for 4 years, having boy's baby

A New Jersey teacher had an illegal relationship with a 13-year-old boy, whom she had lived with for four years, and gave birth to the student's baby, according to police.

According to Cape May County Correctional Center records, 34-year-old Laura Caron was arrested Wednesday. Caron was charged with sexual assault, aggravated sexual assault, and endangering the welfare of a child.

The sister said she believed her brother was about 11 years old when these suspicious incidents began happening, according to court documents.

Caron taught fifth-graders at Middle Township Elementary School, which is located in the community of Cape May Court House in the southernmost tip of the state. Caron taught the alleged victim and his brother, according to authorities.

Over the years, the purported victim's mother allegedly became friends with Caron. The mother let the boys and their sister stay at the teacher's house so she could take them to school.

The affidavit states, "The father explained that it began with 1 or 2 nights a week and eventually the children stayed with Caron permanently, from 2016 to 2020."

Caron made her first court appearance Thursday, during which the judge reportedly described Caron as a "resource family parent" for the children.

The sister of the alleged victim reportedly told investigators that the children would sleep in a shared room on the second floor of the teacher's house. However, the sister reportedly noticed that her brother sometimes was in Caron's bed the next morning.

WPVI-TV reported that the sister would see Caron enter the bathroom when the alleged victim was showering and lock the door behind her.

The sister said she believed her brother was about 11 years old when these suspicious incidents began happening, according to court documents.

The alleged victim's brother told investigators that he witnessed Caron sexually assaulting his brother at a time when the two believed he was asleep.

Authorities said the boy impregnated Caron, and she gave birth in 2019, when the alleged victim was 13 years old.

The New York Post reported that the alleged victim's father shared a Facebook post in December pointing out the uncanny similarity between Caron's baby, his son, and himself.

The alleged victim purportedly distanced himself from Caron after his father's revealing Facebook post.

The unidentified alleged victim — who is now between 19 and 20 years old — told police that he did have a sexual relationship with his former teacher and that he fathered Caron's baby, according to court docs.

Police allegedly uncovered a text message from the alleged victim to his sister in which he admitted that he was the father of Caron's baby but demanded that she keep it a secret.

The Middle Township School District received an anonymous tip Dec. 12 that claimed a teacher sexually assaulted a student, according to an affidavit of probable cause in the case. The tip led authorities to the father's Facebook post.

“When the school district was first advised of the criminal investigation, Laura Caron was suspended, and removed from any contact with students, as we take allegations regarding employee misconduct seriously,” the Middle Township School District said in a statement.

Anyone with information on the case is urged to call Middle Township police or the Cape May County Prosecutor's Office at 609-465-1135.

Teacher's aide accused of raping mentally disabled teen boy. Victim's mother allegedly caught 45-year-old suspect in the act.

A teacher's aide in Ohio is accused of raping a 15-year-old with disabilities, according to authorities. The boy's mother allegedly busted the suspect after finding the pair together at her home.

On Tuesday, 45-year-old Christin Coble of Scott Township was arrested and booked into the Sandusky County Jail. Coble was charged with rape. Her bail was set at $100,000.

'Unfortunately, we live in a world where evil exists, and that evil comes in many forms.'

During a Wednesday court appearance, a judge ordered her to have no contact with the victim.

Coble is a paraprofessional — similar to a teacher's aide — at the Woodmore Local School District. The mother said Coble had worked with her son at his school — and that he has the mental capacity of a 9-year-old.

Following her arrest, the district superintendent told WTVG-TV that Coble had been placed on unpaid administrative leave.

"While the district cannot comment on an ongoing investigation or the personally identifiable information of students, the district’s primary concern is always the safety and well-being of its students," Superintendent Mary Schaeffer said in a statement released Tuesday.

Sandusky County Sheriff Chris Hilton told the State, "We received a call on Monday (Jan. 6) from the juvenile’s mother in reference to this woman being at her house with her son."

On that same day, Woodmore district schools were canceled "due to inclement weather and hazardous road conditions."

The mother of the boy told WTOL-TV that Coble was inside her home Monday afternoon. The mother claimed she witnessed Coble committing illicit sexual acts on her son.

“Our family is absolutely devastated over all of this," the mother said of the alleged sexual assault.

An attorney with Ruck & Wright Law representing the family released the following statement Wednesday: "The family has no comment at this time. Our number one priority is protecting this family who has been through an unimaginable 48 hours. We ask that all media, including social media, respect the family’s privacy at this time while we allow the process to carry out through the justice system."

Kyle E. Wright of Ruck & Wright Law told People, "Unfortunately, we live in a world where evil exists, and that evil comes in many forms. Anyone that is a parent understands this and lives with this concern every day when we send our kids to school. But when that evil comes in the form of an adult that students and parents TRUST, it creates an entirely different level of trauma."

Prosecutor Joshua Clark said in court that the disabled boy falls into the category of society's "most vulnerable" and needs to be protected.

Sheriff Hilton noted, "The investigation is still ongoing, and there may be some additional charges." Police said Coble could face a burglary charge for entering the home.

12-year-old girl sexually assaulted in her bedroom by man who snuck into home through balcony, left 5 hours later, police say

California police said they arrested a 35-year-old man who allegedly sexually assaulted a 12-year-old girl in her bedroom after sneaking in their home through a balcony and walking out of the front door five hours later.

Culver City police officers said that they were called to a home in the Blair Hills area of Culver City early on Dec. 2.

The girl awakened her parents and told them to call the police at about 7:45 a.m.

The girl's mother, Alexis, recounted what her daughter told her.

"'Mom, we need to call the police' I am thinking, am I hearing you right? Am I hearing you right? So, by the third time, she was very direct," she said. "'Call the police, mom.' That's what we did."

Investigators say that the intruder had snuck into the home between 2 and 3 in the morning through a sliding glass door on a balcony.

He allegedly sexually assaulted the girl and left hours later through the front door, according to Alexis. The girl waited until she felt it was safe and then went to her parents.

Police were able to obtain an image of a suspect from surveillance video and asked for help from the public to identify the man.

Weeks later, investigators said that they identified a suspect through DNA evidence that had been collected at the scene of the crime. The suspect, Marcos Maldonado, had been living at a downtown Los Angeles hotel but had boarded a bus to go to Bakersfield. They apprehended him in the Santa Clarita area after pulling the bus over.

Maldonado was arrested on suspicion of aggravated sexual assault of child and held on a $1.25 million bond.

Police said there was no evidence that the suspect knew the victim.

"While we have no reports of additional crimes of this nature in the Culver City area, we are collaborating with other law enforcement agencies to identify any additional victims," read a press release from the Culver City police.

National manhunt for former MTV star who allegedly tried to meet a girl under 15 for sex and groom her

There is a national manhunt for Connor Smith, a former MTV star, who is wanted by authorities for allegedly trying to meet a girl under the age of 15 for sex in Illinois and groom her.

On Tuesday, the Lake County Sheriff’s Office announced that detectives obtained a nationwide arrest warrant for Smith for three felonies: traveling to meet a minor, grooming, and disseminating harmful material.

For several weeks, the 32-year-old Smith was allegedly communicating with someone who he believed to be a girl under the age of 15. However, the girl was actually an undercover detective. The operation was carried out by the Lake County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division in collaboration with the Naval Criminal Investigative Service.

Smith sent the "girl" sexually explicit photos and videos of himself, according to police. Smith then attempted to meet the "child" for sex on Feb. 9, authorities said. When Smith went to visit the "girl," detectives purportedly swooped in to apprehend him, but he was able to escape with his vehicle.

The Lake County Sheriff’s Office said Smith "indicated he would surrender himself on the arrest warrant," but he has yet to do so. A Lake County judge set Smith's bond at $1 million.

In December 2021, Smith was arrested for allegedly raping and assaulting a 16-year-old girl in Indiana.

Smith reportedly drove out of state to meet a 16-year-old girl. The victim claimed that Smith forced her to perform a sex act on him as soon as she got in his pickup truck. The girl said Smith took her to a motel room and slapped her when she refused to get undressed.

The Times of Northwest Indiana reported, "The girl told police she took off most of her clothes, and Smith pulled her by the hair into the bathroom, urinated on her and forced her to drink his urine by holding her nose, records allege."

Smith is accused of raping the girl and strangling her when she attempted to resist.

Smith was charged with felony rape, sexual battery, and two counts of criminal confinement. The charges were dismissed in September after the victim stopped communicating with law enforcement and prosecutors said they didn't have enough evidence to convict him, according to Patch.

In 2015, Smith was a reality star on Season 3 of MTV's dating show "Are You the One?" The dating show features single contestants competing to find their perfect match. Smith found his "perfect match," but the couple split up after filming the reality TV show.

Inmate sentenced 24 years for brutal murder of leader of international child porn ring in Michigan prison

An inmate was sentenced to 24 more years in prison after admitting to ruthlessly killing a fellow prisoner – who was a convicted child predator.

Adam Taylor Wright pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in the 2019 death of Christian Maire at the Milan Correctional Facility in Milan, Michigan. On Wednesday, United States District Court Judge Paul D. Borman sentenced Wright to 24 years and four months for the brutal murder. Wright's sentence will run concurrently/consecutively to the sentences of imprisonment he is serving for other crimes.

On Jan. 2, 2019, Wright and his co-inmates Alex Albert Castro, 42, and Jason Dale Kechego, 41, killed fellow prisoner Maire, according to court documents.

"Specifically, Wright and Kechego repeatedly kicked and stomped Maire in the head, and Wright prevented corrections officers from intervening while Castro repeatedly stabbed Maire," according to the Department of Justice. "Wright, along with his two co-defendants, then worked together to throw Maire’s body down a flight of stairs. Maire died from multiple stab wounds (28 total) and blunt force trauma to the head."

The murder case was investigated by FBI agents.

Court cases for the two other co-defendants are pending.

U.S. Attorney Dawn Ison said in a statement, "Deterring violence inside prisons will always be a priority of this office. Senseless acts of violence that jeopardize the safety of employees and inmates of the Bureau of Prisons will be aggressively prosecuted."

Wright – nicknamed "Creeper" – was convicted of robbing banks in July 2018.

Maire – a married father of two from New York – was sentenced to prison for crimes committed when he was the reported leader of an international child porn ring. Maire and his cohorts allegedly targeted vulnerable teenage girls on the internet to perform sex acts online. For five years, the nine child sex abusers pretended to be teenage boys online to befriend young, lonely girls, according to prosecutors.

The child porn ring members manipulated teen girls into undressing, performing sex acts online, and even convinced some of the victims to cut themselves while the sexual predators watched on online video chat rooms. The child sexual abuse group reportedly shared the videos among the members. The child porn ring reportedly exploited more than 100 teenage girls in the United States and Canada, ages 10 to 17, before being busted by the FBI in 2017.

The Detroit Free Press reported in February, "At their sentencing hearings, the defendants came face to face with some of their still-traumatized victims, who persuaded a judge to lock the men up for decades for robbing their innocence and trust, and for destroying their childhoods."

One victim told the judge, "Thinking back to those days causes me to cry myself to sleep, wondering when the monsters will stop haunting me."
