Leftist politicians waste no time declaring 'bigotry,' 'white supremacy' as motives for mass killing in Asian-majority community. Then a pesky fact emerges.

Leftist politicians wasted no time blaming "bigotry" and "white supremacy" for Saturday's mass killing in the predominantly Asian community of Monterey Park, California — and before the facts came out about the shooter.

Democrat Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (New York) on Sunday tweeted that he was "heartbroken" over the tragedy and that America "must stand up to bigotry and hate wherever they rear their ugly heads ..."

“I'm heartbroken by the news of the shooting in Monterey Park amid Lunar New Year celebrations

I'm praying for the victims, their families, the 1st responders

We must stand up to bigotry and hate wherever they rear their ugly heads, and we must keep working to stop gun violence”
— Chuck Schumer (@Chuck Schumer) 1674410280

Democrat U.S. Rep. Adam Schiff of California highlighted "bigotry toward [Asian American and Pacific Islander] individuals as a possible motive."

“Ten dead in Monterey Park. I am sickened.

A horrific example of needless gun violence. With bigotry toward AAPI individuals as a possible motive.

The families are in my prayers as we seek information by law enforcement.

We’ll never quit demanding real action on gun safety.”
— Adam Schiff (@Adam Schiff) 1674403899

Democrat Francesca Hong of the Wisconsin State Assembly tweeted: "This tragedy is beyond hate. We are broken as a nation to have mass shootings and white supremacy reign terror."

“Heart is beyond heavy for the victims and their loved ones.

Lunar New Year is a time of togetherness, celebration and love.

This tragedy is beyond hate.
We are broken as a nation to have mass shootings and white supremacy reign terror.

Our community is shattered.”

Police on Sunday night identified the alleged shooter as Huu Can Tran — a "72-year-old male Asian," according to Los Angeles County Sheriff Robert Luna.

You'd think the facts about the suspected shooter would crush the "bigotry" and "white supremacy" theories floated by Schumer, Schiff, and Hong — but their tweets on the subject were still posted as of Tuesday morning.

Unfortunately for the trio, that opened the door for a just a few critiques. Such as:

“@SenSchumer -@chuckschumer logic

All white people should be ashamed of this Asian guy who killed 10 Asian people.”
— Chuck Schumer (@Chuck Schumer) 1674410280
“@RepAdamSchiff It was ASIAN on ASIAN CRIME.

Nice try bigot!”
— Adam Schiff (@Adam Schiff) 1674403899
“@FrancescaHongWI The shooter was an Asian male. Guess he's a white supremacist! 😂”
— Francesca Hong 홍윤정 (@Francesca Hong 홍윤정) 1674380577

Not to be outdone, the Los Angeles Times on Sunday published the following headline: "Lunar New Year massacre raises fears of anti-Asian hate even as detectives seek motive." The story's second paragraph even says, "Authorities said based on a preliminary description that the gunman was an Asian male."

As you might guess, folks on Twitter took notice of the headline and let the Times have it:

 • "Even though the person of interest is Asian?" one commenter wondered.
 • "You do know that the shooter is also Asian?" another user asked. "But [of] course you do. You are just engaged in fear mongering."
 • "It is so irresponsible for you to dream out a motive," another commenter said, before adding an "LAntifaTimes" hashtag.
 • "The authorities are stating the suspect is an Asian male," another user noted. "Reporting a hate crime won’t help."

Moving the goalposts

Amy Tan — a medical doctor and "scholar/activist" whose tweets are protected — apparently posted the following to Twitter on Sunday, the day police identified the Monterey Park shooter as an Asian male: "Collective grief & trauma is real. The San Gabriel Valley is a beautiful Asian-majority ethnic community. Misogyny & internalized racism are part of white supremacy. [People] don't have to be white to uphold white supremacy. I hate that I have to tweet this on Lunar New Year's [Day]."

“.@AmyTanMD’s profile brags about San Gabriel being a “majority-minority” community. So “diversity”doesn’t mean much if you’re in the majority. But to exploit a mass murder this way is really sick & of course, Asian on Asian crime is the fault of whites. She’s a repulsive racist.”

Left-wing mouthpiece Media Matters for America on Monday posted a story with the following headline: "Right-wing media are exploiting the ethnicity of the Monterey Park shooter to downplay dangers of white supremacy and anti-Asian hate." Uh-huh.

Oh, and not that it matters to the left, but beyond the suspected shooter's Asian ethnicity, KABC-TV said a "prominent member of the community with the Chinese Chamber of Commerce believes the suspect's possible motive may be related to a domestic dispute."

Rep. Jerry Nadler beats Rep. Carolyn Maloney in New York Democratic primary

Rep. Jerry Nadler decisively defeated Rep. Carolyn Maloney in a New York Democratic primary that the two long-serving liberal lawmakers had been battling to win.

The two legislators ended up running against each other due to redistricting.

"Well New York…we did it! I'm so deeply grateful for your continued support and trust—I promise to keep on fighting for New Yorkers in Congress. Onwards!" Nadler tweeted on Tuesday night.

“Well New York…we did it!

I’m so deeply grateful for your continued support and trust—I promise to keep on fighting for New Yorkers in Congress. Onwards!”

Republican Michael Zumbluskas will be competing against Nadler during the general election later this year.

Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer of New York had endorsed Nadler earlier this month.

"New York has a lot of outstanding leaders but few of them lead with the courage, conviction, and brilliant legislative effectiveness of my friend, Jerry Nadler. Having worked alongside Jerry for years, I've watched as time after time, Jerry —a critical partner of mine in the House — was right on the issues years before so many others," Schumer said in a statement.

““As Judiciary Chair, Jerry has waged the fight to protect our democracy from Trump’s abuses, worked to defend voting rights and restore abortion access,” @chuckschumer says in endorsing @JerryNadler”

The New York Times reported that Schumer spokesperson Angelo Roefaro noted that the senator had "deep respect for Carolyn Maloney's significant accomplishments in Congress."

Maloney's loss means that the congresswoman will depart from Congress at the end of her current term after having served 30 years in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Maloney has been openly supportive of Drag Queen Story Hour, which involves cross dressers reading books to children.

"I had the honor of assisting with a Drag Queen Story Hour in New York in April," Maloney tweeted in June. In April, the congresswoman declared in a tweet that because of the New York Public Library "and programs like Draq Queen story hour, NYC's next generation are getting a well rounded education about LGBTQ+ issues and gender identity."

“Across the country, books are being banned, which are depriving our nation’s youth.

But thanks to @NYPL and programs like Draq Queen story hour, NYC’s next generation are getting a well rounded education about LGBTQ+ issues and gender identity.

@YuhuaHamasaki”

Brutal new ad uses Chuck Schumer's own words against him as control of Senate hinges on Georgia runoffs

Senate Republicans released a brutal new ad on Saturday afternoon using Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer's own words against him.

The ad comes as Republicans fight to maintain their majority in the Senate, which they have enjoyed since they recaptured the majority from Democrats in the 2014 midterm elections.

What does the ad show?

The ad shows Schumer as he celebrates in the streets of New York City after the media declared Joe Biden the president-elect.

Schumer was caught on camera saying, "Now, we take Georgia. Then, we change America."

The ad goes on to highlight exactly what that change would look like if Democrats control the White House and Congress. The ad lists: packing the courts, defunding the police, socializing medicine, a Green New Deal, raising taxes, and taking away your freedom.

"Fight back," the ad urges.

— The Senate Majority (@The Senate Majority)1604785209.0

What's the background?

Although the media have declared Biden the winner of the White House, Democrats suffered numerous down-ballot losses on Election Day. Republicans cut into their majority in the House, and Republicans even made significant gains on the state-level in places like New Hampshire and Alaska.

However, control over the Senate is not yet settled.

In fact, both of Georgia's U.S. Senate races remain undecided because the candidates in both races failed to reach the 50% threshold required to win outright. That means both races triggered runoffs.

Still, the odds that Democrats pick up both seats — yet alone just one — are very slim. If that were to happen, the Senate would be split 50-50 after Democrats unseated one Republican incumbent last week. In that case, Kamala Harris, the media-declared vice president-elect, would be the tie-breaking vote, effectively giving Democrats control of the White House, House, and Senate.

That's why Georgia will be monumentally important in the coming weeks.

Both runoff elections — where Republican incumbent Sens. David Purdue and Kelly Loeffler will fight to retain their seats — will be held on Jan. 5.
